Chapter 4: Homecoming

/STORY START/

I-Island was the pinnacle of engineering, the most complex and advanced piece of technology of the world, and stationed there hidden from the public is The SPARTANs head quarters, SCOM, located on S-Deck, a part of the island reserved for military, police and security forces on the moving island.

ONI military airport, landing pad 7, Melissa POV

As silver team disembarked their pelican they were met by a small company of other SPARTANs congratulating them for the success of their mission.

After some minutes all of them got back to their assignments and the landing pad was now empty except of 2 people.

Commander Izuku-092 and Melissa Shield: Daughter of the director and head scientist of the Spartan program, Doctor Catherine Elizabeth Halsey.

"Took you long enough" said Melissa with a smirk on her face, "you know this time we had to fight a big monster and we couldn't just blow up everything as we usually do" said Izuku while laughing.

"Still I'm glad that non of you were hurt" said Melissa as she pulled the 1,90 meters SPARTAN into and embrace, "I'm also happy to see you Mel" said the SPARTAN while hugging her back, "oh and by the way, get yourself and your armor into my lab I gonna do a full checkup of the systems" said Melissa, "Yes ma'am" replied Izuku.

SCOM, meeting room, Dr Midorya POV

"The operation was a success, now we can move on with pahase 2" said Inko at the meeting table, "indeed Inko, David what's the progress on the mk VI?" Asked Catherine to her husband, "the development is almost comlete, but due to an issue with the titanium shipments we will have only a functional test unit ready for I-Expo" answered David.

"3 months, there the world will really see what the SPARTANs are really capable of." Said Catherine, "the war game engine began testing with teams Gray and Blue, the simulation will be fully operational for the public in 2 months, this will give us extra time to develop new scenarios, we will adapt the USJ incident if you agree Catherine" said Inko.

"Go for it I wanna see how the hero guests will perform against the SPARTANs" said Halsey.

Melissa's lab, Izuku POV

"So I'm all right?" Asked Izuku, "you are perfect big guy" answered Melissa.

The couple was chatting lively when they were interrupted by the chime of Melissa's phone and Izuku's holographic TACPAD, "Melissa, Izuku, your presence is required in the meeting room" said doctor Halsey's voice.

"Yes mom we are on our way" answered Melissa.

"What do you think they'll tell us?"Izuku asked his girlfriend, "who knows, we'll have to mind out there" answered Melissa

SCOM, Meeting room, Melissa POV

"What's so important you called us here on our free time mom?" Said Melissa with and annoyed voice, "I have some really interesting news for you two honey, and I thought that speaking in person was better then using comms" said Halsey reassuring her daughter

"As you two already know I-Expo will be taking place in three months, we are confident that the first prototype of MJOLNIR MK VI will be ready for the test and we want Izuku to have it and show it to the public on the hero gala the opening night" said Inko.

"And Melissa will also be showing VIRGIL and the superintendent system the same night" added Halsey

"Virgil is ready but for the superintendent system to go online I'll need more time and I don't think that it will be ready for the gala night" said Melissa

"What's my role other than showing the armor?" Asked Izuku.

"From now on you will be pulled from Silver Team and act as Melissa's bodyguard, being you her boyfriend I couldn't think of someone better suited for that position" David answered

"As a reward for your excellent work at USJ, Silve team will be granted a shore leave until the end of the Expo, in the meantime you can help in the testing of the war game simulations" added doctor Halsey.

"Now you lovebirds can leave, go back to what you were doing and enjoy your time together" said Inko

"Thanks, mom, doctors" said Izuku as he and Melissa got back to the lab.

Unknown location, headhunter team Gold, Keiko-009 POV

Keiko-009 and Marco-006 were the only members of Gold team, one of the few headhunter duos that wasn't on leave, currently they were investigating a suspect yakuza activity in Japan tied to rumors of quirk erasing bullets.

"Kei do you have visuals on the target?" Asked 006 to his partner

"Negative Six I'm gonna move to the next roof see if I can get a better visual on the cargo being unnloaded", "copy that Nine, stay ready to engage if needed".

"Six I think we got our target, 4 mans, all armed, one woman, VISR identified her as B rank villain, there's a man with a plague medic mask guarded by 2 man's with the same mask" said Keiko

"I see them, get ready, command gave us green light to engage" said Six

The man with the mask noticed a light distortion as a nearly 2 meters man clad in black armor materialized from nothingness in front of him and proceeded to kill his escort.

The B rank villain was frozen as the escort of the dealer of the Yakuza fell dead to the ground, behind her a woman in black armor prepared to send her to hell.

"Looks like the content of the containers were what we were looking for Six" said 009

"Bullets and weapons, so many to arm a small army, SCOM this is Gold leader we need a clean up team and heavy lift gear, we found what we were looking for, tell lab to get ready we have a lot between our hands." Said 006.

"Six I think this got bigger than we originally tought" said Keiko with a preoccupied tone, "I'm afraid that we on our own won't do much, the worst case we have to work with heroes" answered Six.

Lore Bits: I just had this idea to explain some of the halo lore in the chapter of those who are not familiar with the halo franchise.

Headhunters: created during the hight of the human covenant war, headhunters are a team of one or 2 Spartans that specialize in infiltration, stealth tactics and insertion behind enemy lines.

Superintendent: the superintendent is the AI that controls all of New Mombasa city systems, VIRGIL is the subroutine that helps the rookie during the campaign of halo 3: ODST

AN: This chapter was more of a filler and a set up for the next 2 arcs, yakuza and I-Island.
