Sunrise over the Dawn Throne

The sun had been down for hours by the time Lyse was free of the crowd. She breathed in deeply, staring out across the expanse beyond the cliff edge in front of her. The Nadaam had finished that afternoon, and even at almost midnight there was a buzz of energy about the Dawn Throne like she had never seen. Although, she supposed, from the perspective of the Au'ra here this was all unheard of. The smallest, weakest tribe on the Steppe had just won the throne, and with the help of a horde of outsiders no less. While she may have been in literal wars against dragons and primitive gods less than a year prior, the tribes in this land hadn't seen this much action in decades. A chuckle escaped her at the insanity of it all.

"Something funny?"

She jumped at the sound of the still unfamiliar voice behind her. Turning, she gave Cirina a slight smile. The Auri woman gave her a big grin in response. Her cheeks above her scales were flushed, her eyes still bright with excitement even hours later.

"It's just been a crazy day." Lyse said, turning back to look out. The Xaela moved forward to join her, stumbling and almost tripping forward. Without thinking, Lyse shot out a hand and grabbed the girl's shoulder to steady her. Maybe the flush wasn't just from the excitement. Thinking back to the feast earlier, the Au Ra had been awfully interested in the wine casks broken out.

"Thanks," Cirina said cheerily, completely uncaring of what had almost sent her off the edge into the water below.

"Twelve help you, be careful!"

The other girl laughed, and leaned into Lyse's side. "What's wrong?" She said, looking up and meeting her eyes. "You have my back."

Lyse was suddenly very aware of Cirina's figure pressed up against her. She held her gaze, looking into the Au Ra's shining eyes. The girl shifted against her, the curve of her breasts pressing into Lyse's side. A heartbeat, thundering wildly. Was it Cirina's or her own? She couldn't tell but she was breathing hard and having trouble focusing.

She shook her head and snapped out of it.

"You're drunk Cirina." She tried to step away from the Auri, but without her noticing Cirina had looped her arm around her waist and the girl followed her step.

"You aren't? Everyone's drinking tonight." Cirina rested her head against Lyse's shoulder, looking away finally. She still hadn't let go of Lyse.

"I…don't really drink." Lyse felt her pulse quickening again as Cirina's hand shifted, draping down a little lower over Lyse's waist. It felt nice, actually. She struggled to think of the last time she'd been with- but no, she banished those thoughts. Cirina definitely seemed very willing, but the girl was also quite drunk and Lyse wasn't about to be the cause of regrets.

Cirina was, of course, completely unaware of how uncomfortable she was making Lyse.

"You should try some of the wine, it's really good! It's hand - han - ha…" She trailed off, her face scrunching up as she tried to remember the word.

"Hannish?"

"Yeah that!" She said brightly.

Lyse sighed. This wasn't going anywhere.

"Where are you sleeping?" She asked.

"Huh?" Cirina shook her head, as if trying to clear it. "Oh, some tents over this way, I was actually on my way there when I saw you standing here all alone."

Lyse knew what tents she was talking about, and led the stumbling girl over to them. They had been set up earlier in a rush as all the tribes realized that sending a bunch of drunken party guests down the lift and off back into the plains was probably a poor idea. Looking at the Auri woman still clinging to her side, Lyse had to admit it was a wise decision.

She helped the girl get in through the tent door. Cirina was very reluctant to let go of Lyse, so extracting herself from the woman's clutches took a little more force than Lyse had thought. Finally, the woman collapsed laughing back onto her bedspread, Lyse still halfway into the tent leaning over her. Blushing furiously, Lyse looked over her shoulders. Thankfully, the party was still in full swing and no one had noticed the commotion.

Relieved, Lyse went to draw back, only to have her hand caught by Cirina's. The Au Ra looked up at her thoughtfully, not saying anything for a few moments.

"But where are you sleeping?" Was that hope Lyse saw in those ringed eyes?

"I'm…over there," She gestured with her free arm towards another nearby tent.

Cirina sighed, letting go of her wrist reluctantly. "Sleep well."

Lyse nodded, not trusting herself to speak right now. She let the heavy cloth fall back down to obscure the inside of the tent and then stood up. Breathing heavily, she stayed there for a few seconds before turning back towards her own tent. The temperature was dropping quickly so she hurried in and slipped under her own covers, trying to forget the last fifteen minutes or so.

It was a long time before she drifted off.

She was woken rudely by the sound of her tent door being thrown open to let in the morning sunlight. Lyse squinted up at the figure outlined in the opening. It was Cirina.

"Shit sorry I thought…" The Au Ra trailed off. Even in the predawn light it was clear she was blushing furiously. "You were always up so early before in Mol Iloh."

"I'd also not been up past midnight then," Lyse yawned, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She looked up at the girl in the opening, all the emotions from the previous night flooding back to her. Cirina had clearly slept in her dress, the fabric was rumpled all over. Her hair was a tangled mess. Even fresh out of sleep, Lyse felt a flush of heat creeping up her neck.

Cirina cleared her throat, looking sheepish. "I, uh, just came to apologize. I woke up and I don't remember everything but I remember enough." Her face was turning red. "Thanks for getting me to my tent, who knows what other nonsense I would have said." She looked down, not meeting Lyse's eyes.

"Oh, don't worry about it. Everyone has a bit too much sometimes. Any headache?"

The auri girl shook her head emphatically, clearly relieved that Lyse wasn't upset. "Guess I'm a lightweight." She giggled, and looked back up.

"Um…" She trailed off again.

Lyse pushed herself up into a seated position, her covers still pulled up.

"Wanna come in? It's still early and you're letting the cold in."

Cirina brightened. "Absolutely!"

Before Lyse could say anything else, the girl was pulling her boots off while sitting next to her in the cramped tent. Again, Lyse was reminded of how gods damned attractive the other girl was, even in the dim light filtering through the fabric of the tent. The Au Ra's dark purple horns and scales framed a soft, lovely face. And seven hells, her unnatural eyes practically shone in the dark, the gentle tan ring around the irises. Lyse couldn't help but let her eyes drift down, following the trailing v-neck of the faded red and pink dress.

Realizing where she was looking, Lyse flushed and looked up only to find the girl looking directly at her, a knowing glint in her eyes. Her face heated up even more knowing Cirina had seen exactly what she'd been looking at.

"You know," Cirina said, still holding Lyse's gaze. "For all your protests last night, you certainly didn't try very hard to push me away."

Lyse swallowed hard. From what she had seen of other members of the tribes here, the Au Ra were very forward with those they were interested in romantically, and definitely didn't have any reservations about gender. Still, Cirina had seemed so quiet and so shy before.

"You were drunk." She said simply.

Cirina looked a little puzzled. "Was that why you didn't stay with me? Is that a hyur thing?"

"Stay with-" Lyse was blushing furiously now and she knew it. "I didn't want you to regret anything."

"Oh I see." Cirina nodded thoughtfully, then perked up. "Well I'm not drunk now!"

Before Lyse had a chance to say anything, the Au Ra leaned forward, her lips colliding with her own. Stunned, she sat there for a moment. Why the hell not though? She thought, pushing her covers off and letting Cirina push her back down onto the soft floor. Her hands slid up the other woman's sides, thumbs brushing against Cirina's soft breasts. Finally given into temptation, there was nothing to stop her from giving both of the Auri's tits a good squeeze. Cirina's laugh was muffled through her lips, and it sent chills down Lyse's spine. She opened her mouth, and the Au Ra's tongue was quick to dart through, eliciting a small gasp from Lyse.

Finally, Cirina pulled back, looking down at Lyse on her back. Both women were breathing hard. Somehow in the motion Cirina had ended up straddling Lyse's hips. Grinning, Cirina reached up and grabbed both sides of her dresses' v, and in one smooth movement pulled the fabric down to her waist. Her breasts moved with her own rapid breath as she cupped them, looking at Lyse again.

"Do you like these? You were so quick to grab on." Letting go, Cirina reached down and grabbed Lyse's hands, moving them back up to her chest. Lyse did not resist, feeling the light scaling on the underside of them and then moving her thumbs up to flick over the Au Ra's hard nipples. Cirina's tits were full and soft in her hands, and the girl seemed very amused by Lyse's fascination.

"I've never seen…" Lyse trailed off, not sure how to say it.

"Never been with an Au Ra?" Cirina cocked her head to the side, letting go of Lyse's wrists and leaning forward again. Lyse shook her head mutely.

"We're not all that different. I like your tits too." The glint in her eyes had turned wicked. "But I'm a little more interested in what's down here."

Lyse started as Cirina's hand slipped under the waist of her shorts, then gasped as the woman started teasing her pussy. Without helping it, she felt her hips start to move up in rhythm with Cirina's stroking fingers.

"Oh you are into this aren't you?" Cirina whispered, speeding up her motions between Lyse's legs. Two fingers pressed in a little further, teasing her clit. Her other hand reached up and slid under Lyse's shirt, pinching and rolling one of her nipples. Then, without warning, Cirina's fingers slipped inside of her, pumping rhythmically. Lyse arched her back, trying not to let her moans get too loud. The damned woman was playing her body like a damned instrument.

Her body was slipping into ecstasy. All Lyse could think about was how good her pussy felt right now, the oncoming rush of her climax fast approaching every time Cirina's fingers dove back in. She let her hands fall to her sides, grabbing the Auri woman's thighs through her dress.

And then it hit, like a dam finally breaking. Her hips bucked up hard as the edges of her vision went dark. Feeling her writhing beneath her, Cirina's hand between her legs stilled, and she pulled her other from under her shirt to reach up and brush Lyse's hair back.

All Lyse could do was sit there and pant, staring up at the beautiful Xaela.

"You," She said between gasps. "Are far too good at that."

Cirina grinned. "I often forget how…prudish Hyur are sometimes. I suppose to you I must seem quiet and unsociable outside of here, but here among the tribes we have little reservations in the night."

She shifted off of Lyse, pulling her dress back over her shoulders. Lyse sat up.

"Wait," Lyse said. "Let me return the favor."

Cirina giggled. "I'm afraid we've run quite late, people will be waking up out there. Don't want any of your friends to think something untoward is happening."

She moved back to the tent door, then looked back over her shoulder.

"I'll collect on that favor tonight though, and maybe a bit more." Cirina smiled at her one last time before exiting the tent, leaving Lyse lying in a heap on top of her covers, still breathing hard.

Lyse sighed, and closed her eyes. Indebted indeed.

A/N: This will probably be hit with another round of edits in the next few days, I just didn't want all the effort of setting up everything to leave this account empty for a few days. Anyway, Lyse/Cirina. Not a common pairing, so uncommon that I see Cirina doesn't even have a character tag on FFN when I look at the filters. Hopefully AO3 will be different or I can add one but we'll see. Short fic that's been living rent free in my head for a bit since I replayed Stormblood on my alt, so glad I could finally get it in writing.

As always, reviews are always welcome, even critical ones. This is my first foray into writing F/F so hopefully I didn't do it too much of a disservice. Be sure to check my profile for a link to my twitter in case this account ever gets axed. I'll be keeping that updated with AO3/FFN nsfw writing as well as any OC forays into erotica so if you like my style, there will be more of that up there.
