Chapter 1
"Gaara, get your ass out of bed." Gaara grimaced as he heard his foster father's voice yell from the doorway. "You're going to be late, and if you are I'm not going to be very happy."
"You're not happy anyways." Gaara thought darkly. "You never are." Without another word, Gaara pushed himself to his feet. He hated being a foster kid in Konoha, everyone at his school looked down on him because he was in a home that wasn't his birth parents. That wasn't Gaara's fault but the kids at the middle school didn't see it that way. They hated anyone that was different from them, no matter how unfair it was to the person that they mistreated. One day, and probably sooner than they realized, they were going to pay for the hurt that they caused those around them, Gaara would make sure of it. Gaara would be the one to make sure that they paid and it happen sooner than anyone realized.
Shuffling over to his dressed, Gaara grabbed a pair of shorts and a hoodie. It would be easier to sneak a gun into the school if he could hide it in the front pocket. The next problem would be getting the ammunition that he needed into the school. There were so many people that he wanted to take out that he wasn't sure he would be able to do it in one day, but he knew that he wouldn't get the opportunity to take any else out after this day. He supposed he would have to make a list of the most important ones that he wanted to kill. Gaara smiled at the thought, those people's families were going to learn a tough lesson this day. Kid's didn't bully other kids on their own, they generally were taught that behavior. Well, now Gaara was going to teach the families a lesson that they would never forget. It was sad that it would be the kid's that would have to pay the price, but at the same time they needed to learn that they couldn't treat people as badly as they wanted to and get by with it.
Gaara smirked in the mirror as he stared at his reflection, while he hoped to kill everyone that had ever laid a hand on him at the school, he knew that was wishful thinking. He also knew that if he got caught he was likely to be charged as an adult and depending on how many people he killed he could face the death penalty. He wasn't going to let himself spend life behind bars, nor was he going to allow Konoha to kill him, Gaara knew the best way to get by with his plans was to take his own life afterwards, that way Konoha Middle School would never forget him.
Walking over to his closet, Gaara reached down and grabbed his backpack, instead of being filled with his school books, it was filled with ammunition and a few hand guns. Today would be the day that Konoha would be sorry for how they had treated him, and those that were different. Grabbing his backpack, he slipped the strap onto his shoulder before glancing around the room, he had no intentions of returning to this home that had been made of nightmares. There would be no more beatings from his foster father, no more being treated like he was less than everyone else just because he was a foster child.
"If you only knew what was coming for you, you wouldn't bother coming to school." Gaara chuckled, he couldn't wait to see the fear on the other kids faces as they realized that he held their fates in his hands. They'd probably wonder what they had done to deserve being put through the kind of hell that he had planned. It was too late for them to question their role in the events that would soon take place. They could have stopped it from ever happening in the first place if they hadn't treated him and the other foster kid's like freaks, it wasn't their fault that they couldn't be with their biological family. The other students didn't know the situations that the foster kid's came from, if they did perhaps they wouldn't quite be so judgemental. Gaara didn't think he would ever understand how they could act like they were so much more important than everyone else, how could they judge what they didn't know?
"Gaara, if you're late, I'm not giving you a ride to school, you can walk." His foster father Rei Howard shouted and Gaara rolled his eyes, he should his day off with getting rid of his drunk pig of a foster father.
"I'm coming fat ass." Gaara hollered knowing that that would only piss the man off. Dropping his backpack onto the floor, he unzipped it, and reached inside and pulled out a gun. Maybe he should start out with getting rid of the man that liked to get drunk and sink his dick, between Gaara's lips or into his ass whenever he wanted too. Gaara was sick and tired of being used like a toy and he was going to making everyone that had hurt him pay for it.
"What the fuck did you call me?" Rei stormed into the bedroom, unaware that Gaara was holding a 9 mm handgun. The overweight, balding man halted when he spun around and saw the gun in Gaara's hand.
"I always knew that you were a nut job," Rei hissed. "You can shoot me, but you better pray that you kill me because I will beat the shit out of you for pointing that gun at me. I'm almost betting that you don't have the nerve to pull the trigger."
"That's what you think." Gaara replied. "I'm tired of you deciding that you have the right to fuck me whenever you want. You and all those kid's at school are going to pay for the hell that you've caused me."
"You're ass felt nice, it's almost better being inside of you than some whore's pussy." Rei said shrugging and starting to lower his hands and move towards Gaara. Gaara glared, before pointing the gun at Rei's fat stomach and pulling the trigger shooting Rei in his gut, Gaara smirked as he watched Rei's body jerk back before falling to the ground, blood spewing from his gut.
"You're going to die, and no one is going to give a damn." Gaara replied. "You were filled with so much evil that Konoha won't miss you. They'll be glad that I decided to end your pathetic existence."
"You're going to burn in hell for what your doing." Rei hissed. "You deserve to be raped and torn from limb to limb." Gaara shrugged, he was used to those kinds of comments.
"I think that's what's going to be happening to you, first. I'll probably see you in hell later." Gaara shrugged as he stuffed the gun into his pocket and bent over and zipped his backpack up and slipped it back onto his shoulder. Konoha Middle had no idea the this would be the day were lives would change, and not necessarily for the better.
Feeling a hand gently shaking his shoulder, Naruto Uzumaki opened his eyes to find his mother and brother looking down at him.
"You're going to be late for school if you don't hurry." His red haired mother raised her hands and quickly signed, you see Naruto had lost his hearing a few years back when he'd gotten so sick that no one had been sure whether he would survive or not. He had, but he'd paid a hefty price for his survival, he could no longer hear and while sometimes it depressed him, he seemed to take it into stride for the most part and had very quickly picked up on sign language as a way to communicate. He sometimes would speak but being that he couldn't hear himself speak, he didn't speak often and not at all if he was outside of the house. He was made fun of enough as it was, he didn't need to add that to the long list of things he was made fun of for.
"I don't want to go today." Naruto raise his own hands and signed in return. "Something's going to happen, I have a bad feeling."
"Konoha Middle school is one of the safest schools in the district." Kushina signed. "I don't think you have anything to worry about it. Besides Sasuke is waiting for you to get your lazy butt out of bed." A red tint covered Naruto's cheeks as he blushed at the mention of his best friend/crush. Kushina chuckled, she'd long sensed that there was something a little off about Naruto, he didn't seem to react to females in the way that typical males did. She started noticing that Naruto was acting differently when Sasuke was around, which was almost everyday because his parents were often out of town on business and his brother always worked long hours so he wasn't home much either. Kushina had noticed the shy glances that Naruto had often sent Sasuke's way, but Sasuke never seemed to notice.
"Why is he waiting on me?" Naruto signed. "He hasn't talked to me in two weeks." Kushina frowned, she knew that sometimes Naruto and Sasuke would get into arguments, but nothing so serious that they would actually stop speaking.
"I don't know," Kushina shrugged. "He didn't say." She kind of wondered if Sasuke even know Naruto's feelings for him. She highly doubted it because she couldn't see him keeping quiet about it. "Did you tell him how you felt?" She signed and Naruto shook his head, he was glad that he hadn't, Sasuke really would have ended up never speaking him again.
"I don't think that would be a good idea." Naruto signed, before sighing and pushing himself into a sitting position. "He'd never speak to me again, I'm pretty sure that he plans on asking Sakura Haruno out." She frowned, she knew that would be hard for Naruto to watch, it would hurt him, but there wasn't anything she could do that would spare him from that type of pain.
"I'm sorry sweetheart, I wish it didn't have to be that way for you." Kushina signed and Naruto shrugged, he couldn't make Sasuke feel something that he couldn't. He would just have to try to distance himself and see what happened from there.
"Don't worry about anything happening at school." Kurama signed. "Mom's right, Konoha Middle School is the safest school in the district. Nothing ever happens there, nor will it." Naruto frowned, he wasn't sure but he knew that they were wrong, something was going to happen, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
"I guess I should get dressed then, I'm sure that Sasuke doesn't want to see me in the nude." Naruto signed and both Kushina and Kurama chuckled. At leasts Naruto had a good attitude, it kind of made Kushina worried that he was trying to hide how he was feeling, she feared that he was more depressed than he wanted anyone to see. He had lost a lot in the last few years, his father had died of cancer only a few short months ago. Naruto and Minato had been close and after Minato's death, Naruto had shut himself in his room for days and would barely eat or drink, Sasuke had busted in on him one day and had threatened to shove some food down his throat if he didn't start eating. After that Naruto had started hanging out with the Uchiha even more than he had before, and Kushina suspected that had been when Naruto had started developing feelings for his best friend.
"Yeah, getting dressed is a good idea. I'll have breakfast ready for you." Kushina signed and Naruto nodded, and pushed himself to his feet, not caring that both his mother and brother got a good look at his bare ass as he walked past them.
"Learn some modesty." Kurama tapped on Naruto's shoulder and signed when Naruto turned to look at him. Naruto shrugged and returned his attention to pulling on his orange shirt, before grabbing a pair of boxers covered with ramen bowls and pulling those on before slipping into a pair of black shorts.
Kurama shook his head and turned and followed their mother out of the bedroom, leaving Naruto to finish getting ready for school. Naruto watched them before walking over to his desk and grabbing his books and shoving them into his backpack, he still couldn't forget the feeling that something bad was going to happen. As he started out the door, Naruto paused at the nightstand to look at the picture of his father. He missed the man more than ever and wished that he'd never been diagnosed with cancer. He needed his father and didn't think it had been fair that his father had suffered so greatly before he'd ended up dying.
"I miss you dad." Naruto said, "I miss you more than anything. I wish you were still here with us." Sighing, Naruto turned and headed out his bedroom door, not caring that he'd left a mess on the floor, and his bed unmade. He figured he could always make his bed and clean up when he got home.
Bypassing the kitchen, Naruto slid his feet into his tennis shoes before walking over to his mother and hugging her.
"I'm not going to eat this morning, I'll eat at school." He quickly signed. "I'll see you when I get home from school."
"Okay , try and patch things up with Sasuke, it won't do you any good to stay mad at him forever." Kushina signed in return. Naruto shrugged, he wasn't angry at Sasuke, Sasuke was the one that had stopped talking to him, and Naruto wasn't sure that he even understood why, it's not like Sasuke knew how he felt about him.
"I wasn't the one angry in the first place." Naruto signed. "He's the one that had the issue." Kushina offered him a small smile, she knew that Naruto was hurting more deeply over the whole Sasuke situation thing, and she really hoped that the two boy's could work things out. She would hate to see that particular friendship go down the drain. Sasuke had done a lot for Naruto after Naruto's father had died, so she knew that Naruto would fight like hell to protect that friendship, which is one of the reasons that Naruto would likely never tell Sasuke exactly what he felt.
"Have a good day, and don't worry about anything happening, I think you're going to be okay. KMS has the best security around, they'll put a stop to anything before it gets started." Kushina signed and Naruto shrugged, and she could tell that he was still uneasy and she wished she knew what to say to make him feel better. Ever since he'd lost his father, Naruto had been dealing with anxiety more and more, and she was pretty sure that this was just him being nervous, but it hurt her heart knowing that nothing she said or done would make things better.
"I really wish Minato were still here, he would know how to calm him down." Kushina told Kurama who was bent over and tying his own shoes, as he was getting ready to leave for KHS.
"Yeah, Dad seemed to have a magical ability when it came to Naruto." Kurama replied. "I don't think Naruto has anything to worry about though, you said it yourself KMS has the best security team, Madara and his merry team won't let anyone in the school that shouldn't be there."
"Unless the threat is from a student, they'll walk right in." Kushina pointed out. Kurama frowned, he hadn't thought about that. The Konoha School System was second to none though so he wasn't too concerned about anything bad every happening there.
"That's true, but the school system is great, I don't think there are too many people that are unhappy with them." Kurama said.
"I hope you're right because Naruto doesn't need any more trouble on his plate." Kushina replied, looking through the window and watching as Naruto paused in front of Sasuke, who started signing something as soon as he'd looked up and seen Naruto standing there.
"Sasuke's a great friend, who else bothered to learn sign language so that they could communicate with Naruto." Kushina murmured. "It's just a shame that Sasuke doesn't feel the same way towards Naruto."
"Yeah, but Naruto will find a way to deal with it. He's dealt amazingly well with losing his hearing." Kurama replied. "Nothing bothers him for too long."
"And that's what worries me about him." Kushina said. "He handles things almost too well. Eventually it's going to get him to and all hell is going to break lose, and I'm afraid that there won't be anyone that can help put him back together again." Kurama feared that for his little brother too, but that didn't mean that he wouldn't try to help Naruto as much as possible.
Biting his lip, Sasuke stared down at the ground, he hadn't spoken to Naruto in a few weeks after they'd gotten into an argument. Sasuke had snuck into is father's alcohol cabinet and had gotten drunk, he'd offered a drink to Naruto but Naruto had refused and Sasuke had accused him of being a goody two shoes. Sasuke had been angry that his father had yet again missed an important event to Sasuke, and so he'd decided that taking a drink or two would help him forget, he'd hoped that Naruto would drink with him, but he'd refused. A drunk Sasuke wasn't a pleasant person to be around, and Sasuke couldn't help but wonder why Naruto hadn't just left him there, instead of making sure that he hadn't gotten sick or something.
Sensing a presence in front of him, Sasuke looked up to see Naruto frowning down at him, concern in his blue eyes.
"I'm sorry," Sasuke signed quickly. "I shouldn't have been such a dick that night, it wasn't fair to you. But I was angry at dad, not that that gives me an excuse."
"It's okay," Naruto signed back. "But you have to know that drinking isn't going to change anything, it won't make you feel better."
"I should have known that." Sasuke signed, "But I was too angry at my father and I wanted to forget everything. I've been grounded the last few weeks since my father very quickly found out about it."
"If you need to talk you can come to me." Naruto signed. "You know I won't repeat anything, after everything you done for me when my father died, I don't think I could ever return the favor. You saved my life and you have no idea. I was planning on killing myself, I was just going to let myself starve to death and you refused to let me. You helped me see past my grief that other people were hurting too, and that by killing myself I would only be making their pain even worse." Sasuke grimaced, he really hated that the idea of killing himself had even crossed Naruto's mind. His friend had always been happy go lucky so knowing that he'd been thinking about removing himself from their lives made Sasuke feel sick to his stomach.
"I wish that idea had never crossed your mind." Sasuke signed. "You don't deserve to have to suffer like that. You deserve to be happy."
"I'm finding my way back to happy." Naruto signed. "It's not been easy since dad died, but I'm working through it. We should probably get going before we are late for school."
"You look like your worried." Sasuke signed before standing up and grabbing his backpack. Naruto shrugged, he knew his anxiety was acting up and he was trying not to let it show, but Sasuke knew him all too well.
"I don't feel right about today." Naruto signed. "I don't know why but my anxiety levels are really high, I feel like something is going to happen."
"You don't have to be anxious." Sasuke signed, hoping that it was reassuring. "KMS is a safe school, you know Madara and his team won't let anyone in that's not supposed to be there." Naruto shrugged, he couldn't explain exactly what he was feeling, but something terrible was going to happen, he just knew it.
"Something tells me that your uncle isn't going to be able to stop this." Naruto signed quickly before dropping his hands into his pockets. They knew how he felt, but they weren't paying attention, he couldn't make them listen if they didn't want too.
Feeling a hand on his shoulder, Naruto raised his head to look up at Sasuke, who had concern shining in his dark eyes.
"You don't have to be so anxious, we have all our classes together so you don't have to worry. You can rest your mind." Sasuke mouthed knowing that Naruto could read his lips just as easily as his hands. Naruto blinked at him, he wasn't sure how Sasuke knew how to reassure him when his anxiety was acting up, but he was glad that he did. He didn't know what he would do without Sasuke.
"I hate being like this." Naruto signed. "I hate feeling so helpless."
"You lost your dad a couple months ago. It's not your fault that you've had anxiety since then. It was a traumatic experience for you." Sasuke signed. "It's natural for you to be feeling anxious after everything that's happened. But like I said, I'm not leaving you to suffer throughout the day." Sasuke refused to let Naruto suffer through yet another anxiety attack, originally he only had one or two classes with Naruto. But once Naruto started having full fledged panic attacks, he switched his schedule so that he had all of his classes with him. Some of Naruto's panic attacks were pretty nasty, they would leave him shaking and gasping for air on the floor. Sasuke would sit with him, holding one of Naruto's hands until the moment passed. He hated when Naruto got like that. It hurt to know that Naruto had so much anxiety built up inside of him, he knew Naruto's father's death was what started it all. He just wished that he could change things for his friend.
At the school, with only a few minutes to spare, they headed straight to their first class which was math with Iruka. Naruto was glad that he had the man to teach him, his patience seemed endless and he always gave Naruto his space when he needed it. Not to mention that he allowed Sasuke to transfer into his classroom and help him with his anxiety. He hated feeling so weak that he got fearful over something small, but his mind had been a wreck ever since his father died and he wasn't sure that it was ever going to be made right again.
Sitting behind his desk, Naruto closed his eyes and laid his head over on his desk knowing that Iruka wouldn't be there for a few minutes. Suddenly a cold chill passed through him, and Naruto raised his head to meet Gaara's cold, hard eyes as he passed Naruto's desk. Naruto shivered at the cold expression in the other teenager's eyes. He didn't know what it was about the other boy who was Naruto's age, 13 years old, but it seemed like Gaara was much older than that. He didn't know why but Gaara hated everyone around him, but he especially hated Sasuke. Sasuke was one of those kids that didn't care what anyone thought about him, he would do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted and if you agreed with it fine, but if you didn't he didn't give a damn.
Naruto shivered as Gaara walked past, there was an angry kid that Naruto didn't want anything to do with. He tried to get along with everyone, and for the most part he did, but but Gaara was someone that liked to blame everyone else for his issues. Like he was angry over being in foster care and Naruto supposed that he couldn't blame him for that, he wasn't in control of why he was there. But he could control how he reacted to the other kids that made fun of him for being a foster kid. And unfortunately, there were plenty of those types running around KMS. Naruto knew they made fun of him for being deaf too, but Naruto wasn't too concerned about that because it wasn't anything that he could control. At one time it had bothered him, but now it just went his head, and he tried not to let it bother him. It just showed that if a person could treat someone like shit, that there was something wrong with them, not the person being made fun of.
"What are you staring at?" Sasuke asked when he seen Gaara's piercing eyes glaring at Naruto as he passed by. "Naruto hasn't done anything to you."
"Deaf freaks shouldn't go to this school, he should go to retard school." Gaara replied as he sat down in the desk behind Naruto. He liked to make fun of Naruto, and tried to make his life a living hell, but Naruto was pretty good at ignoring him.
"Leave him alone." Sasuke warned. "Today isn't the day to bother him. He's feeling a little anxious."
"As he should." Gaara muttered. "He probably has the sense of something happening."
"This school is perfectly safe." Sasuke glared, he knew Gaara was just wanting to make Naruto miserable and it pissed him off to no end. "I mean it, if you don't leave him alone today, there is going to be hell to pay."
"Sasuke, leave Gaara alone." A pink haired female said as she entered the room and sat down in the desk beside Sasuke. "He has enough issues without you adding to them."
"Then maybe he should stop picking on Naruto, his anxiety is really high today, I just want to make things easier for him." Sasuke told Sakura, who turned sympathetic green eyes in Naruto's direction, she reached over Sasuke's desk and gently placed her hand on his shoulder to get his attention, he looked up at her and offered her a small smile but didn't say anything.
A few minutes later, a man with a ponytail and a scar across his nose entered the room and walked over to his desk.
"Good morning class, I'm glad to see everyone here this morning. I hope your weekend went well." Iruka said, before pulling a math book out and setting it on the desk, and opening it. Finding the page he needed, he turned his attention back to the class.
"Naruto Uzumaki will you do the first equation on the board?" Iruka signed and Naruto nodded, and stood up and walked to the front of the room where he proceeded to figure out the equation on the board.
"That's great." Iruka signed, "It's correct. Great job Naruto." Naruto nodded, he actually liked math class more than some of his other classes, because he liked having to think to solve the problem.
Suddenly Naruto was filled with a dreadful feeling, and he turned and scanned the room until his eyes met Gaara's. Gaara smirked at him and Naruto frowned, there was something going on with the other teenager and he couldn't put his finger on it. Naruto scowled when Gaara formed a gun with his fingers and pointed it at Sasuke and pretended to pull the trigger. Naruto scowled at him before heading back to his seat and sitting down. He was starting to feel sick to his stomach, and it distracted him from paying attention to the lesson that Iruka was trying to teach.
Once class was over, Sasuke got up and was waiting at the doorway for Naruto, when Naruto turned towards Gaara when he saw the teenager bend down and unzip his backpack, terror welled in Naruto's chest as he watched Gaara pull a gun out. Aiming it at Sasuke, Gaara went to pull the trigger only to have Naruto rush across the room towards Sasuke and tackle him to the ground at the same time that Naruto felt bullets riddle his back, he gasped in pain as he lay on top of Sasuke, his ears deaf to the screams going on around him as the bodies started hitting the floor. Naruto looked up as he heard footsteps coming towards him, he felt the gun being placed at the back of his neck.
"Go join your father in hell." Gaara said coldly as he pulled the trigger, and Naruto's world exploded in pain.
