Leah was more than happy to drive to Port Angeles, giving Quil her phone to message Rose. Her invitation was happily accepted, and Leah felt assured that it would be a good time. She was not surprised to find the Cullens standing in the back parking lot when they arrived. Leah was slightly trembling as they climbed out of the car, and Quil asked, "Are you nervous?"
Leah said, "Well, I haven't been here since I quit, and sometimes I miss it. I know Hodie is here, and to be honest, that always has changed the atmosphere of the place. I am a little excited to see what it feels like."
Alice's tinkling voice filled the air as she called out, "I knew that dress would look fucking amazing." Jasper first whistled and then winked at her as Alice rushed to throw her arms around Leah. The others waited patiently to greet them, well used to her enthusiasm for ... well, everything. They followed Leah inside through the back door, gaining the attention of nearly everyone in the place. There was shrieking behind the bar, and Leah braced herself, anticipating the impact as Trisha collided against her side. Leah hugged the tiny blonde woman warmly and laughed. She looked up over Tricia's shoulder for Hodie, and he smirked at her before finishing the drinks he was pouring.
Leah asked Tricia, "Is Tom here tonight?"
The familiar sound of a throat clearing behind her had Leah turning to face the club owner and tossing her arms around him affectionately. He laughed as he hugged her and stepped back to appraise her appearance. Leah did the same, appreciating his sleek suit and professionally dyed hair. Sometimes it was nice for things to stay the same, she thought before he pulled her in for a second hug.
"You would never know you had a baby, Leah. You look … absolutely the same," Tom said.
Surprised, Tricia asked, "You had a baby? What?"
Leah laughed and said, "Damn, Tom. When I ask you to keep a secret, you do it."
He grinned at her and shrugged. "Tricia? Why don't you bring Leah and her friends some beer and bourbon, huh?"
Leah laughed again, surprised he remembered her preference and amused by the disappointed look on her face as she hoped for more details. Tom greeted Quil and Alice warmly, expressing happiness to see them again.
Tom nudged Leah with his elbow and asked, "Alice, do you have any Halloween plans this year?"
"Not yet, but it's only September," Alice said.
Tom laughed and asked, "Do you want to dress my girls for the party again this year?"
"Hell yes," Alice said enthusiastically. "I loved it last year."
Tom said, "Fantastic. Now, if I could only convince my favorite bouncer to come back."
Leah cackled and shook her head. "I miss it sometimes, but I don't have the extra time anymore."
Tom asked, "Do you still work three jobs?"
Leah grinned, nodding. "Well, two now, but still ... one of them allows me to do my job and simultaneously take care of my son. Can't get much better than that right now."
Tom said, "Well, you have my number. You guys should all come for the Halloween party." He wished them a good evening before heading back to his office, and the group found a table to sit around.
"So," Rose said, "I wonder why half the bar doesn't know about Julien yet."
Leah said, "I'm not surprised. When I found out I was pregnant, I asked Tom to keep quiet. Besides that, Hodie is a pretty private person."
"Say that five times fast," Emmett said and chuckled.
A large bachelor party bustled through the front door and immediately crowded the bar. Already drunk and rowdy, Leah and the others watched them in amusement for a while, joking amongst themselves. When the drinks did not come, Leah approached the bar. Rushing to fill orders from the other end, Tricia gave Leah an apologetic smile. Leah nodded in understanding and turned her back to the bar, leaning on her elbows to watch the patrons as she had done countless times before.
"You picked a good night to come here." Leah grinned as she shivered, as affected by the sound of Hodie's raspy voice as ever. He looked absolutely besotted with her, the heat of his stare trailing down her figure as she stood straight and turned to face him. He said, "You look amazing. Where is Julien tonight?"
"Bells is keeping him for us. Quil thought it was time for me to have a night out," Leah said.
Hodie glanced up at Quil and grinned as he waved at their group. He said, "Quil's right, Babe. You're with him constantly." Hodie laughed at his own choice of words and rubbed the back of his neck self-consciously.
Avoiding any awkwardness, Leah asked, "Where is Rick tonight?"
Hodie said, "He is off. He worked through the week." He gave her another grin and went back to serving as Tricia rushed past Leah with their drinks. Leah followed her and sat down as Emmett started pouring out shots.
"Let's slow that roll at two apiece, Em," Quil said and laughed. "Leelee hasn't been drunk in a while."
Jasper laughed and said, "Yeah. No forcing water down your gullet tonight, ma'am."
The shots went down more smoothly than she had anticipated, and it wasn't long before she was pouring herself another. The group joked and laughed as they watched the dancers and other patrons. Leah was surprised to find herself fighting the urge to jump in as the bouncers removed others for fighting.
Jasper asked her, "You miss it here, don't you?"
"Sometimes," Leah admitted. "Tossing dirty diapers is much easier than drunk men, though."
"Without a doubt," Rose said and laughed. "How are things going with you two and Hodie?"
"Good, actually," Quil chimed in. "Everyone gets along really well." Leah couldn't help but think about their conversation earlier that evening and glanced back up toward Hodie. He looked up at her from behind the bar and grinned. Quil smirked as he caught the exchange and went back to watching Red on stage with Emmett and Rose. Leah looked up and laughed as Red waved from her upside-down position on one of the poles. Leah jumped and then cackled as Quil got her attention by tickling the back of her knee. He leaned over for a quick kiss before heading to the bathroom.
Once he was gone, Rose asked, "So how are things really going?" Jasper, Emmett, and Alice laughed as Leah glanced back toward Hodie.
"Things are going well," Leah admitted. "Of course, everything we do is in Julien's best interest. He is what is most important. Speaking of which, he probably misses his aunt Rosalie."
Emmett asked, "What about your best interest, Babe?" Jasper snickered as Leah frowned at Emmett.
She asked, "What do you mean by that?"
Rose rolled her eyes and said, "You still love them both, don't you?"
"Of course," Leah admitted. "Quil knows it. I don't know if Hodie knows it …"
"He knows," Jasper said, glancing back toward Hodie. Leah looked up to catch Hodie staring at her yet again and smiled.
"That doesn't make things any easier," Leah said and laughed nervously. She turned to Rose and Emmett and asked, "Has he been confiding in you two?"
"A bit," Emmett admitted. "He keeps to himself. He loves his son. Most of the time, Hodie just talks about how awesome Julien is and his gratitude for Quil being there for you both."
"I know he regrets leaving," Leah said, "and everything he missed out on.
"He still wants to be with you, Leah," Rose said. Emmett shot her a warning glance, and she said, "What? It's the truth, Emmett. Look, Leah, Hodie told me last week that he used to get jealous over Quil. Now that he has gotten to know him and sees how much Quil loves you? He doesn't mind it anymore. Something tells me Quil doesn't mind so much anymore either."
"Rosie," Emmett said before shooting Leah a concerned glance.
"He doesn't," Leah said, admitting to herself that it was true. "He offered to let me come here alone tonight. To see Hodie."
Alice asked, "So what's stopping you?"
Leah said, "Worry, I guess. I don't want it to all blow up and cause problems for Julien later."
Alice smirked and said, "I … don't see that being a problem. At least not right now."
Leah grabbed the bottle of bourbon and downed another shot as Emmett snickered. She poured two more as Quil returned to the table and shoved one in his direction. He knocked it back quickly and opened another beer to chase it down. The lights overhead flashed to signal the last set for the night as a dancer Leah didn't recognize came onto the stage. When her first song was finished, the Cullens rose from their seats collectively to head home. Leah was instantly buzzed as she stood to hug every one of them before they left. Quil laughed at her drunken state as she wobbled on her feet and sat back down to watch them exit the club.
Quil scooted closer to her in the booth and slung his arm around her shoulders as they continued watching the new dancer on stage. He placed his other hand on her thigh, just slightly sliding his fingers up the inside of her skirt. Leah sucked in a sharp breath and chuckled, grateful for the table in front of them, concealing them from view. He leaned in to kiss the side of her neck, sending a rush of heat straight to her core. Leah glanced up to where Hodie stood behind the bar, pretending to not see them in his peripheral.
Quil whispered, "I know you still want him, Leah."
She turned sharply to look him in the eye, hoping the alcohol wasn't about to turn him into a jealous asshole and ruin the evening. Looking around the table, she realized he had not drunk nearly as much as she had. Although his expression was serious, there was no anger on his face. Quil took another drink of his beer and said, "You should tell Hodie to come to the house when he's done here."
Leah's jaw dropped open in surprise, and Quil laughed. Bewildered by his suggestion, she asked him, "What the hell are you doing? You can't be serious?"
Quil said, "It's probably the alcohol talking, and I might regret the fuck out of it later, but you two have been staring at each other since we walked through the door."
Leah said, "Why would you want me to bring him to our home, Quil?"
Quil chuckled and said, "Listen, our insane little family dynamic we have going on is great, but all this tension with you two will explode if you don't fuck soon." Leah gasped, and he continued, "You want to. The imprint wants you to, and I just want you to have what makes you happy."
Leah said, "That doesn't explain why you would suggest we bring him to our house."
Calmly and without skipping a beat, Quil grinned and said, "Oh, I intend to watch it."
Leah froze in her seat as she registered what he said. It was among the scenarios that had been on her mind ever since Hodie had moved back. Quil chuckled again as she shivered and reached further up her skirt to brush against her sex with his fingertips. Leah sucked in a sharp breath and closed her eyes, unconsciously pushing her hips toward his fingers.
Quil wanted to fucking watch? Knowing about it would be one thing, but watch? Picturing Quil observing Hodie plunging into her shot heat straight to her sex. Hell yes, she wanted it. Remembering the anger on Quil's face when she first got with Hodie, Leah shook her head.
"You don't seriously want that," she said cautiously. Her whole body trembled from the intense mixture of lust and disappointment. "You accidentally saw us together once before. I overheard you tell Embry about it. You hated it so much you didn't want anything to do with me for days."
"That was when I wanted you back and hated that he had you," Quil said. "Now, I know that you are mine. He has been right in front of you for weeks, and you continue to put me first."
"Because I'm not a cheater, Quil," Leah said and scoffed.
Quil said, "You were the one that once told me you wanted to be with us both if you could find a way. It's not cheating if everyone involved knows the truth of the situation. I'm giving you the chance to go for it if it is what you still want. I'm pretty damn sure it is what Hodie wants. I feel like whatever makes you happiest will be best for all of us. Even Julien. He will sense all that awkward hesitation between you and Hodie eventually. Do you know how you say you always sensed the connection with your mom and Charlie?"
Her voice was barely a whisper as she said, "Yes."
Quil said, "Do you want to wait twenty years to let yourself have what you want, Leelee? You have never hidden your feelings for him or me. He doesn't feel like a threat to us anymore. You helped me realize that over time, just by being honest and patient with my jealousy."
Leah reached up to wipe a tear away before it could streak down her face. Quil nudged her and nodded toward Hodie.
"Go see if he's interested, if it's what you want to do," Quil said.
Leah stared him in the eyes, searching for any indication that he was somehow testing her. Quil chuckled again and pulled her in for a long, sensual kiss. She felt dazed as he pulled away and glanced back toward the bar.
Quil said, "Go talk to him. I would do it for you, but that might be a little too fucking awkward." He took another long swig from his beer and turned his attention to the stage. Leah stood on shaking legs and looked back at him hesitantly. Quil winked at her as he stood beside her. "It's about time to head out of here anyway," he said. "Might help you if I wait outside. Ask him if you want to. If you don't, I'll be in the car when you are ready." He kissed her one more time before holding his hand out for her keys. She handed them over and watched him walk toward the back door. Leah took a deep breath and smoothed down her skirt as she cautiously approached the bar. Hodie's smile seemed bitter as he walked over to her and leaned toward her to hear her better.
He asked, "What can I get ya, Lee? Where is Quil heading off to?"
"The car," Leah said and swallowed nervously. "We are going to go home in a minute." She reached across the bar to lightly drag her fingertips along his forearm.
"Oh," he said, sounding somewhat disappointed. "Well, I guess I will see you sometime tomorrow when I visit Julien."
"Actually …" God, Leah, how are you even supposed to ask him this? Leah blurted out, "Why don't you come down to the house when you're done here?"
Hodie frowned, confused. He asked, "Why? Is something wrong?"
"No," she said. Ignoring the crowd and the inevitable gossip she knew would result, she leaned across the bar to brush her lips across his cheek next to his ear. She chose her words carefully, knowing what they would do. He shivered as she whispered, "I want you." Hodie pulled away to gawk at her wide-eyed for a moment in surprise. Leah forced another nervous smile at him and said, "I want you to come home with me tonight … with us."
Suspiciously, Hodie asked, "And what does Quil have to say about that?"
Leah blushed as she reached up to cup his cheek in her palm and said, "He went outside so it would be easier for me to ask. It's okay if you don't want to."
Hodie leaned into her palm and asked, "What if I want to?"
"Then come to the house when you get done here. Spend the night. You can have the whole day with Julien tomorrow."
She could hear the uptick of his heart and knew he was intrigued. Her wolf practically pranced inside of her at the prospect of being so close to him again. Leah grinned absently over the wolf's excitement.
Cautiously, Hodie asked, "And what does Quil intend to do?"
Leah leaned in and brushed her lips against Hodie's as she said, "Watch." He gasped, and she giggled. She didn't leave him time for a response as she hastened toward the back door. Quil was waiting in her running car, parked behind the back of the building as she walked out. She climbed into the passenger seat and pulled her seatbelt on as Quil drove home.
(Quil POV)
I can't believe I fucking suggested this and that they both agreed. Quil had watched Leah and Hodie practically eye-fucking each other the whole evening. Quil would have lost his temper hours ago had it been anyone other than Hodie. He still wasn't entirely sure that Jasper wouldn't attempt to sleep with Leah if he ever got the chance. As it was, Quil was actually excited. Knowing that Leah wouldn't up and leave him made things easier. When Leah Clearwater made a promise, she kept it. She had been fighting the imprint since she had reunited with Hodie. Her honesty about her feelings helped, too.
She needs this. The raging hard-on he left the club with suggested that perhaps Quil needed it, too.
Quil stopped at a gas station on the way home and returned to the car with multiple items in a paper sack. He handed it to Leah as he climbed into the car.
She pulled their drinks out and scoffed as Quil chuckled mischievously. "Really?" Leah pulled a pack of menthol cigarettes and box of condoms out of the sack and laughed.
"Just covering all the bases," Quil said. "You might be healed, but your uterus is not. I know you and I aren't very careful, but since we know you two can obviously conceive ..." Quil laughed and said, "I mean, that shit is up to you both, but you know what Carlisle said." Carlisle had been firm in his recommendation that Leah waits at least a year before trying for another baby. Meanwhile, Quil secretly feared that the imprint might mean she could only conceive with Hodie. If that was the case, Julien could be the only child any of them ever had, too. Imprint or not, Claire was not the woman for Quil. Quil didn't want anyone except the vision in flesh-toned lace at his side. He barely noticed anyone that wasn't Leah now.
Leah cackled and said, "Yes, Dr. Quil. I remember."
Quil asked, "So he is coming to the house, right?"
Incredulously, Leah asked, "Are you actually excited about this?"
Quil shrugged and said, "Just between us? Only? Yeah, kinda. If my girl is going to fuck someone else, I might as well get some enjoyment from it. I dig porn. I fucking love watching you come apart the way you do. I've seen you two before, so it won't be so surprising this time. Seems reasonable to me."
Leah laughed nervously and said, "it might not be what you or I expect. If he shows up."
Quil said, "I promise to leave the room quietly if it is too much for me. You probably won't even notice if I do. You tend to lose all sense of time and place. He is your imprint. I assume things could become … more than I expected."
They were pulling into their driveway as Leah asked, "You know this could change some things, right? Not with you and I," she soothed quickly. "With Hodie and I, I mean. Make it more difficult."
"Or, make it easier," Quil said as he turned off the car. "I'm not doing all of this lightly, Sweetheart. I've thought about our situation more than you could know. All the fucking sexual tension between you two drives me nuts sometimes." The imprint connection did insane things to her sex drive. While she reserved that side of herself for him, Quil couldn't claim that it didn't sting sometimes. No one wants to fuck the love of their life knowing she's possibly picturing someone else.
Leah leaned over to brush her lips against his. Quil cupped the back of her neck and deepened the kiss. His tongue slipped between her lips, the inside of her mouth as familiar to him as his own. Leah leaned over the console to put her arms around his shoulders. After a couple of minutes, she pulled away slowly and pressed her forehead to his as she asked, "Why are you so fucking good to me?"
Quil smirked and said, "Because that's my job. If you and Jules are happy, I'm happy. That's what matters."
Leah grinned as she pulled away and said, "Jules, huh? That's cute, I guess."
"That's my boy," Quil teased and climbed out of the car.
