Rain and Races

It was around 10 at night and Reki and Langa were in Dope Skate helping clean up so they could close up shop soon. It was drizzling outside, with no sign of stopping but with signs of getting worse, if the darkening clouds coming in are any kind of indicator. The two boys continued to work but the late night hours were starting to catch up with Langa so Reki tried to insist for him to go home. "Langa, you're obviously tired head home, I'll finish up here you don't need to worry." Langa frowned, "Are you sure I don't want to leave you here to do all the work."

Reki laughed and smiled. "Just leave everything to mechanic star Reki! Seriously though, head home I can finish closing up shop."

Langa sighed, "You're not gonna let up are you?" "Nope," Reki said, his smile still persistent. "Fine-fine, just promise you'll be fine on your own." "I'll be fine, I promise now go home and get some sleep."Langa nodded and left, Reki got back to closing up shop and by the time he was done it was about 11:45, the rain outside and greatly increased from a drizzle into a full downpour. Reki sighed and threw his hood up and headed out into the rain. His hood didn't do anything to help combat the rain and he wished he had brought an umbrella or had at least checked the forecast. After around 20 minutes of walking in the cold downpour of rain he finally arrived home.

He entered the house, his clothes soaked and dripping wet. He was shivering but he didn't really notice. He took off his shoes and made his way to his room getting undressed and throwing on a pair of comfortable hair was still drench and his skin was cold to the touch still slightly damp. Although he was still wet he didn't seem to care as he laid down and curled up under the blankets. The night finally took its hit on him and he was asleep not long after curling up. Morning came too soon for him and he awoke with a groan.

His nose was stuffy and he was still cold even though he was under many different blankets. Reki sat up and got out of bed. He soon got dressed and made sure to put on a long sleeve shirt as well as his hoodie. He was still slightly cold but he thought it was probably just cold outside or something. He headed down the stairs making a quick bento and leaving the house. Grabbing his board Reki headed down the street, setting it down and getting on, he wobbled slightly but wrote it off as just still being tired. He made his way down the street gliding on his skateboard until he went to the corner he normally meets up with Langa at. And as per usual Langa was already there with a smile on his face, he looked well rested which Reki was grateful for.

"You look well rested, did you get enough sleep last night?" Reki asked Langa as they continued on their way to school, skating down the street, the sidewalk still slightly wet from the prior night. "Yeah I feel awake for once, how about you? I hope you didn't have to stay long because of me." Reki laughed lightly "Don't worry I got home okay, I didn't stay too late.." Reki smiled at him, he didn't want to tell Langa he actually stayed longer than he anticipated and ended up getting caught in the downpour. .

Langa nodded and they both continued. They soon made it to the school and changed out of their day shoes into their school shoes, they put their boards away and made it to homeroom, they weren't late but they were some of the last people to show up to the school. Reki yawned and sat down on his desk. He'd be stuck in this seat until lunch and then he would have to come back to his seat for more classes after that. Not much walking around which he was grateful for but, that means it would be harder for him to stay awake as the day pressed on.

By the time that lunch had come around Reki had developed a headache and it grew hard to breath through his stuffy nose. Langa and Reki made their way up to the roof. The sun had dried out the concrete so they sat down and had started to eat lunch. Reki ate a small bit before he couldn't continue eating. It was turning his stomach. Reki packed up his lunch and put it in his bag. "Did you finish already?" Langa asked. "Huh, oh no I'm just not that hungry."Reki said with a reassuring smile. "Mhm if you're sure.." Soon it was time for them to head back to class. After a few more hours school had finally let out and Reki was feeling worse than when the day started.

His headache turned into a full blown migraine and his throat had started to become sore, which led him to being mostly silent on the way back home. "So are you going to S tonight? I think there's gonna be a beef between Shadow and someone else tonight." Langa said to Reki. Reki nodded in return "Of course I'm coming, why wouldn't I?" Langa just shrugged and the two continued walking; they soon arrived at Langa's house. "I'll see you tonight okay?" "Yep, I'll see you tonight!" Reki said with a smile. The door closed and Reki's smile dropped and he soon started on his way home as well. Reki just wanted to take a nap so when he got home he set an alarm and dropped onto his bed.

It was about 10:30 when his alarm went off. He sat up and the world spun around him, maybe he was getting sick he thought but then just shook it off as him just sitting up too quickly. He soon got up and got a much needed shower, after he was clean he got dressed and checked the time. It was 10:55 he still had a while till he met up with Langa so he went to the kitchen and got something to eat that he could hopefully stomach. He made up some noodles and began to eat, halfway through the bowl he felt sick again. He put the bowl in the microwave to hopefully save it for later.

Reki checked the time and grabbed his board, he soon began skating to Langa's house, from there the pair made it to the flower shop and met up with Miya and Shadow. They all piled into Shadow's car and started driving to S, the bumps and swerves had Reki laying his head on the window to help feel slightly better. It didn't take long for them to get to the abandoned mines where S takes place. They all got out of the car and went to join everyone else at the starting area.

Some beef was already happening and Shadow was gearing up for his beef. Reki turned to Langa and smiled lightly. "So you want to race tonight?" Langa asked the redheaded. Reki sighed he didn't really feel the best for skating but he didn't want to let Langa down. "Sure why not. What are the terms?" Langa smiled enthusiastically. "If I win you have to make me a new board." "And if I win?" Reki asked. "I'll do your homework for the whole week." Reki held out his hand. "Deal." Langa shook his hand and the two went to the starting line.

The race started soon after that. It was going fine at the beginning but as the track continued to have sharp turns and many things to swerve pass Reki's head started to swim. His vision went blurry and before he knew it the ground came up to meet him and he was out before his board even left his feet. When Langa heard the crash he stopped his board quickly to see what had happened. As soon as Langa saw Reki on the ground he rushed over to see what was wrong. He went to go and nudge Reki but as soon as he put his hand near him that's when he felt the heat. Reki was running a pretty high fever if the heat from his body was anything to go by. Langa cursed something in English and grabbed his phone.

While this was going on Shadow and Miya came over to see what was going on. "So what's wrong with him? Did his board get caught on something?" Miya asked. Langa shook his head and dialed his mom's phone number. "No he has a high fever, so it's possible he passed out. He also didn't have much of an appetite today." His mother picked up so he began to tell her the situation. He soon hung up and picked up Reki. "I'm taking him back to my place so my mom can see if he needs to go to the hospital." Shadow nodded and went to get the car. They soon were all back in his car and driving down to Langa's house.

By the time they arrived the lights were on and Miss. Hasigawa was waiting for them. They soon got Reki laying down and his temperature taken. It was only a low grade fever but there was the risk of it progressing so he would be staying at their house until tomorrow. Reki soon woke up and groaned lightly, his head was pounding and he felt terrible. Langa smiled at him lightly. "That was a pretty bad fall, how are you feeling?" Reki grimaced, "Terrible, I'm sorry for making you worry.." Langa shook his head. "It's fine, just next time tell me if you're sick so this way I won't push you to do something." Reki nodded and smiled lightly.

"Okay next time I'll tell you if I'm sick." Langa smiled. "Good, I love you." "I love you too, Langa."
