Reaver laid his weapon on the bench and looked at the ceiling. When was the last time he saw sunlight? This whole experience was starting to smother him, especially his companions. Luckily the nun was asleep. It was just him and his thoughts. Well, there was the loud snoring that came from the bedfold.

He rubbed the dirt off his favorite gun. This is how he spent his down time for most of the journey.

Sparrow tried holding her head high for the journey, but now she was bedridden. A complete nuisance for the other two heros, well, for him. It was starting to become obvious that these were becoming her final days, but the corpse of the legendary hero has yet to be found.

"Did you know that Garth lived? Maybe you will think better of me now." He said with no intention of getting a reply. One would sense some annoyance in his voice. And he heard a shift behind him.

Reaver twisted in his seat to see that Sparrow was staring at him when she was supposedly asleep like Hammer. Her voice was hollow and ghastly, one that reminded him of banshees. "I know." Her words were simple and sharp. "He wishes to never see you again."

Reaver had no reply to that.

To him, she looked a cheapskate version of her former self: withered skin, scars across her body, and thinned hair that fell with each head movement. He still remembered the first time he saw her. She was just a plain woman who trampled into his mansion in search of something. Even after all of these years, he never discovered what exactly. All he knew was that she wouldn't leave without him, even when he threatened to mark a bullet between her eyes.

"Is this going to bring you peace? Then after that, you're going to be ready for the afterlife?" His voice was cracking for some odd reason.

Her eyebrows puckered together from the sudden question. "We're so close."

"You didn't quite answer my question, dear." He repeated his questions again.

"I think you misunderstood me. We are close to him. That's what my dream last night was about. Once he is at peace, I will be too. The afterlife is a scary thing. I had moments seeing the other world."

"Are you disillusioned?"

"There were two times I got shot and fell down many stories. The second time, I saw Rose again. We were kids just from the first time I got shot. We were at Serenity Farm as if that was our homeland. We had parents that were going to come back. It was a marvelous afterlife. However, I kept hearing the music box. As I left paradise, there was only destruction. I was going against the wishes of the universe. This is when I realized, I was supposed to die when I was a young gal. These years I've been living against the wishes of the universe. I'm ready to finally welcome them."

She moistened her lips and glanced away from him.

Reaver didn't know why he was angry exactly. She was following a ghost even to her death. How were they supposed to act if there's nothing? Sparrow would be disappointed and there would be nothing that the Heroes could do to help.

"If we stop now, I will regret it. And may my spirit walk the Earth as a banshee."

He waited a moment, trying to cool himself down. She was still stubborn as she was back then.

"I would rather you be a banshee," Reaver commented, "And may you only haunt me."

"Oh, is Lord Reaver getting sentimental?" She teased him.

"Would that be a turn off?"

"Even you know better than to try to swoon soon to be a corpse."

"Those are not light hearted words, my fair lady."

"Is it bad to say the truth?"

"It is bad to get a man's hopes up. It's bad to give hope when it's too late. Why couldn't you be this open with me before?"

"You built the walls yourself. The walls were too high for you to notice my own walls."

"Are you speaking about Larkin?"

"Larkin would be an unnamed man in my autobiology. Alex would have had two sentences. Time is meaningless to you, but it matters in my life." She started getting flustered as the memories were being recalled. "I spent ten years with Alex in my heart. Yvonne would've had a good life if she had lived." She paused. It was a bit hard to think of those dear in her heart. "Sadly, Logan and Finch could never replace them. Larkin had no hope."

"You love those brats," Reaver started with. "I would be horrified if I ever had miniature versions of me that followed behind me."

"There's been cases of women who grew to resent their offspring. Postpartum depression is what the nurses would say. Just like you, I'm not a saint."

"Oh no, there goes my imagination. You're just full of troubles."

"Did I make you feel down?"

"I feel a bit of anger building inside of me. About Theresa and the spire. About Lucian. About the kids. However, these are your troubles. Some of them are from the past, and some are still plaguing you. I am normally not so easily manipulated by emotions other than of lust, so this is quite a different development."

"It's a starting point. Maybe you can get over your own walls and find new solace in living."

"You shouldn't have high hopes for someone who deals with the shadow court." He readjusted himself until he was facing her direction. "Let me introduce you once again to the shadow court. They won't have issues accepting a new source."

"I like to think I know you better, Reaver. I know I wouldn't be a valuable sacrifice for your sake anymore. However, I still have doubts in my heart. And even if you didn't do that, I have no need in prolonging my life."

"My! And here I was just suggesting keeping you around longer. I'm a bit twisted as you know." He took her hand within his. The feeling of her skin made him feel guilty. "Pirates are selfish. We long to keep our possessions in our grasp. How can you deny something so delicious?"

"Wisdom," she said. She already sacrificate someone else for him. It was them or her, and she chose herself. She did not have the same strength to do the deed twice.

"Sparrow, my dear, just know that I never ask twice."

The next day, despite Hammer's efforts, the trio ventured further through the cave. Sparrow rested in Hammer's arms as they walked. Reaver was in charge of leading them. As well as keeping them safe.

It took a few hours before Sparrow spoke up. "It's here."

Reaver shone the flame further into the darkness. He saw the layers of dust that complied on the bones. That was the only thing that was left behind. This body must have been here for decades in no hopes of ever seeing sunlight once again.

Hammer placed Sparrow gently on the ground. Her ankle was bandaged up with scraps of cloth and sticks.

"Hawk. My great grandfather. I came to retrieve you."

Sparrow moved closer to the bones. She reached down and pressed her fingers against the remains. Light shined all around her as soon as she did. She blinked and looked around her surroundings.

Where was Reaver? Where was Hannah?

"Sparrow…" The voice formed into a humanoid figure before her. The figure was without many details. She could tell it was a rugged man with a beard. He was just a white figure. There were no colors. Just like her surroundings.

"Where am I? Hawk?"

"I'm taking you back, Sparrow. You answered my call and came forth."

"Not yet! We were supposed to take your remains. You weren't supposed to take me."

"You brought others with you. They will finish that business. Our mind and body are both going to Serenity Farm. They are going different ways though."

"You're telling me that I'm returning to the afterlife?"

"You have been missing from us for many years, Sparrow. This time, I'm here to make sure you stay."

"Hawk! You can't let me leave like this. I have to tell them. They have to know."

"Grandchild. It's too late. Once you touched me, there was no returning. See for yourself."

He waved his arm into the air and the light disappeared from that area. Inside of the window, Sparrow could see the inside of the cave. She saw her body limped against the remains. She saw Reaver on his knees right next to her. Hannah checked her heartbeat, but said there was none.

Reaver hugged her lifeless body and Hannah started to ugly cry. They just saw their friend's lifeforce suck from her body right before their eyes.

"Couldn't you let me have some time with this knowledge? I could've explained to them."

Hawk shook his head. "You knew you were going to die. Death was always certain in your life."

"I'm not asking about that! I just wanted to tell them that this was the end. Can they at least hear my voice once more?"

He stood there for a moment. He was not the grim reaper with a stone heart. "I will allow your voice to be heard for one last goodbye. However, there is no connection between you and your body. You will only be heard by them."

"That's better."

"Focus your mind on either one of them and speak out. When you change your focus, then that will be the end of the conversation."

She nodded. She looked right at Hammer and spoke. "Hannah! Take us to Serenity Farm in Oakfield, my good friend. Let my children know I reached my destination. That it's not scary. Thanks for your bravery and attendance. I hope I won't see you for many years."

Then she looked over to Reaver and spoke. "Reaver. Come join me one day in the afterlife. It won't be lonely. I will be here for you."

She looked back at her grandfather figure. "Hawk, I know it's my time. Let's go."

She couldn't stand watching the vision through the window at her friends. She knew she wasn't in a physical body any longer, but it left her with a bad taste in her mouth. She trusted that her friends could finish her mission without her presence. She was already a burden once she fractured her ankle yet they carried on.

"Sparrow!"

It was Rose. She was still the same age as before.

"You can't leave like that. Did you know how much I missed you? Mom and dad gave me a lecture!"

Sparrow replied, "You know I'm stubborn."

And then there Alex. Always a radiance of ease in her heart.

"Come along, darling. You have so much to tell us. You never told me you wanted to be a Queen. You were the only Queen in my eyes."

"Alex… Oh how much I missed you."

And then Larkin. Old and hairy as always. A good partner when she needed it.

"I finally got to meet the ones you always spoke so highly of. Don't worry, he kept her well loved. Logan and Finch would've wanted a sister."

"You would've tried for a third if I didn't stop you."

Yvonne. She was only ten years old and always full of spirit.

"Mummy! You're back! Do I really have brothers? I told you I wanted a little sister, but now I have two brothers?"

"Baby," Alex reached down to Yvonne, "I told you. They would've protected you. You would have been loved dearly by them."

Sparrow walked up to her first husband and daughter. "You would've been the perfect princess. I told the boys about you. They couldn't believe you stood up against Reaver over a cookie."

"I'm glad I don't have to see him again," Yvonne winced.

"Don't be that way. Everyone deserves love."

Alex looked like he was in pain. "Darling, don't tell me you wanted a third husband?"

"Larkin is my third husband," she chuckled. "No one wants to know of my second husband. There's a reason why he's not here."

Larkin, who knew that information, stood offended at being called the third. "You are definitely a black widow."

"I wore that title in pride."

"Then, my sister, let's go."

"Come along now, my lovely Hero."

"Go forth, my Queen."

"Come, mummy!"
