Sorry this is later in the day then usual. Went out with family for Mother's Day. It was also my sister's birthday, so we were celebrating both. So yeah, fun day.
Day 8: Picnic
A romantic picnic, just a cat and his princess. With food prepared by Marinette and/or her parents, with beautiful weather outside, Chat couldn't imagine a more perfect date.
Basket and blanket in hand, the feline hero and his bluenette sweetheart walked across the street from her home to the park. Chat laid out the blanket and sat down with Marinette as she opened the basket. The smells that came out were heavenly.
"Mmmmm. I could eat this whole picnic, basket and all," Chat moaned as he looked at the basket in excitement.
"Yeah, I don't think whicker is good for you," Marinette giggled.
Her boyfriend was a goofball but she loved him anyway.
"Well then, besides whicker, what is there to eat?"
Marinette stuck her hand under one of the basket's lids and looked around without taking anything out yet. "We have stuffed croissants; both sweet and savory, chocolate chip cookies, grapes, strawberries, homemade spring rolls, eclairs, some cheese bread…"
"And?" Chat looked at her, expectantly. All that sounded delicious, but there was something particular he was anticipating for this meal.
Marinette gave him a knowing look. "Don't think I forgot-" she started to say as she reached into the basket again until…
"OH WOW! Look, it's Chat Noir!"
A fanatic voice yelled from not far away. The next thing the young couple knew, their blanket was surrounded by citizens with their phones up, recording and/or taking pictures.
"Awww, how cute. Chat Noir having a picnic with his girlfriend."
"What a sweet couple."
"Chat Noir, can I get a picture with you?"
"Can I get a picture with you and your girlfriend?"
"Could you two kiss for me?"
Marinette and Chat both cringed at all the questions and camera flashes.
"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea," Marinette uttered as she shielded her eyes—and kind of her face at the same time.
"Yeah," Chat said, doing the same thing. Public dates were sure to attract attention, him being a superhero and all. Why hadn't he thought that this would happen before? He was a celebrity outside this mask, so you'd think he'd know better. Then, Chat grinned. While he couldn't always avoid crowds of fans, he did know how to lose crowds of fans. Especially while transformed. "Grab the basket and stand up," he whispered to Marinette.
"What?" she asked, not sure what he had in mind.
Were they leaving? Was the date cancelled?
He just smiled as her. "Trust me."
Marinette nodded back. She trusted him with her life.
She closed the basket and stood up. Just as she stepped off the blanket, Chat pulled it up off the ground and handed it to her.
Then, before any of the onlookers could do anything, Chat pulled out his baton, wrapped his arm around Marinette's middle, pulled her flush to his side, and pressed the button on his baton that made it extend.
Everyone in the park looked up in amazement—and slight disappointment—as Chat Noir disappeared into the sky with his girlfriend.
As soon as they made it to the rooftops, Chat put his baton away, picked Marinette up so he was carrying her bridal-style, then started running and jumping from rooftop to rooftop.
He had the perfect place in mind for a more private picnic.
Finally, the feline hero came to a stop after vaulting himself and his girlfriend, with their picnic supplies, to the top of the Arc de Triomphe.
Chat put Marinette down while she took a few steps around their area, basket and blanket in her arms.
"Sorry there's no soft grass up here. But at least there's also no nosey fans flashing cameras in our faces," Chat said a bit nervously. He really hoped Marinette wasn't annoyed with running from some fans.
To his relief, Marinette turned back to him, smiling.
"It's perfect, Chat," she told him honestly. Chat sighed. "Come on, let's sit and eat," she said, tossing him the blanket. Chat caught it and quickly laid it out again on the concrete roof.
"Yes! I am starving," he exclaimed excitedly as he and Marinette sat down.
"And," she said before reaching into the basket. "As promised." Chat's eyes lit up as she pulled a lovely little box out and held it out to him. "Your favorite." Marinette opened the box, revealing two neat rows of macaroons.
Chat Noir eagerly took the box and pulled one out, then looked back at his girlfriend with tender eyes. "I love you," he said sweetly before putting the whole cookie in his mouth.
"For my macaroons?" she said teasingly.
Chat swallowed, doing his best not to choke while chuckling at the same time.
"For all of you. Including your amazing baking skills," he said, picking up another and holding it up to put into Marinette's opened mouth.
Peaceful, quiet, and a great view. Definitely the perfect place for a picnic.
And only accessible for a super hero.
Happy Mother's Day everyone!
See u tomorrow =^.^=
