Day 11: Incognito

Did normal people wear disguises on dates? No. But Marinette was dating a superhero who looks like a black cat. He's popular with the people of Paris and very noticeable. Especially in the day time.

To bad their date was during the day.

Luckily, his resourceful girlfriend had a plan.

"Marinette, is this really necessary?" Chat asked as he watched Marinette rummage through her closet of clothes.

"After what happened during our picnic date, I don't want to take any chances," she replied.

They had had to relocate their picnic to the top of the Arc de Triomphe after some of his admirers wouldn't leave them in peace in the park. And today, they were going into a movie theater. It would be crowded but it would also be dark, and once the movie started, all eyes would be on the big screen.

If they could just make it through the lobby, buy their tickets, and make it into their theater without Chat being recognized, that'd be great.

But to do that, he needed a disguise.

Marinette finally came out of her closet with everything Chat would need and helped him put them on.

First, a long trench coat to cover up his suit, a dark red fedora hat to hide his cat ears, and some dark sunglasses to conceal his feline eyes and mask.

"I thought the point was to not stand out. Cause I look pretty suspicious in all this," Chat said, a bit doubtful as he looked at himself in her mirror.

Marinette held a finger up to her chin in thought for a moment as she looked at him from his side.

"Well, it does cover everything, but it also sort of makes you look like someone from an old crime show," she said with a light chuckle.

Chat suddenly had a mischievous grin on his face. "You mean like a…" he quickly turned to her and struck a cool and mysterious pose. "…Noir?"

Marinette snorted with a roll of her eyes. "Okay, I walked right into that one," she admitted then Chat laughed with her.

Then Chat took off the shades, folded them, and put them in the coat pocket. "But seriously, you think this will work?" he asked her.

"Hey, it's either this or you walk in as yourself. And we can't watch the movie from the top of the Arc de Triomphe," she reminded him. A picnic could be relocated fairly easily, but this movie that they both really watched to see was only in theaters for another few weeks.

"True," he agreed with a smirk but it was quickly gone as he stared at her for a minute. "I'm sorry," he said out of nowhere.

Marinette looked at him, puzzled. "For what?"

"Having to go to these lengths just to go to the movies."

He was sort of used to this. Sneaking and occasionally disguising himself in public so he wouldn't be recognized and mobbed by fans. Adrien Agreste was in the spot light even more than Chat Noir. This wasn't new to him. But to Marinette…

He could see her getting annoyed with it. Then, eventually, he feared, annoyed with their relationship.

"Hey." Marinette stepped closer to him, took one of his hands in hers and used the other to caress his cheek. "You don't have to apologize for anything. I knew there were going to be…complications when we started seeing each other. But I don't care about those. All I care about is you," she said to him tenderly, offering him a sweet smile.

Chat smiled back at her. "You're the best," he said before leaning down to peck her on the lips.

A few minutes later, Chat had the shades back on and he was walking down the sidewalk with Marinette on his arm toward the theater.

They got a few odd looks from a few people they walked by, but nothing much else.

"I think it's working," Chat whispered to her. "I will never doubt your disguise skills again, princess."

Marinette giggled again as they made their way into the theater.
