Day 28: Fan
Heroes Day was a fairly new tradition in Paris. But a very well adored one.
There were parades, charity events, parties, and of course; the carnival.
The carnival was the most attended event of the day. Citizens and local businesses opened all kinds of booths to either sell things, raise awareness, offer games with prizes, and other fun things that all themed the spirit of the day; honoring the heroes of Paris and doing what you can to be a hero.
That being so, these booth vendors knew that what the people were really after were Ladybug and Chat Noir merchandise;
T-shirts, hats, posters, figurines, candies, toys, and pretty much anything else anyone could want. With one of the heroes of Paris's face on it, it sold.
He was expected to make an appearance at a gala in honor of the day, but until then, Adrien could actually enjoy himself at the carnival. After just arriving, he couldn't stop smiling like a dork.
There was so much Ladybug merch, he thought his heart would give out. He wanted one of everything! He wanted to plaster his entire bedroom with his lady's beautiful face.
As he was turning a corner, his body unexpectedly met another, making them both stumble back a bit. Adrien was just about to apologize to whoever it was, but he lost his words as he recognized the person.
But what was more stunning was her attire.
Everything she was wearing and/or carrying had his face or logo on it.
Well…not his. Chat Noir's face.
A black T-shirt with his face, a green beanie with a black paw print, a long bead necklace hung from her neck with green and black beads, she wore a pair of black sunglasses that had little cat ears at the top ends, she held a green string that lead up to a black balloon with his face on it in one hand, and in her other hand she was carrying a black tote bag with his face also on it—which he could see was filled with even more stuff.
"Marinette," he managed to utter after regaining his ability to speak.
"Oh. Hi, Adrien," the bluenette replied, a bit nervously as she removed her shades and put them in her bag.
Wow. Obviously, she had gotten there sooner than him to have all that already.
"Wow, you must be a really big fan of Chat Noir," he said, still not able to stop looking at her.
"Well yeah. I admire him very much," she replied.
With the Chat Noir beanie she was wearing, her hair was down. He really liked her hair when it was down. It was a very cute look for her, and it was honestly very flattering that she was such a big fan of his. So much so that she'd buy so much merch with him on it.
But it was sort of bizarre that she didn't seem to also have anything Ladybug on her.
"What about Ladybug? Did you buy anything with her on it?" he asked.
Marinette paused for a moment. "Ah…no. Not really," she admitted.
Adrien raised a brow. Really? She didn't have anything red with black spots in that whole bag? "Why not?"
"I don't know," Marinette said with a shrug. "I guess I just feel like Chat Noir doesn't get enough recognition for the role he plays. I mean, everyone adores Ladybug because she's the one who calls the shots and purifies the akumas, but she can't do it all without Chat Noir. I think some people forget that. Which is why I'm doing what I can to show my support to him," she stated.
"So…you admire Chat Noir for being Ladybug's support."
"Well not just that. Chat Noir is a hero. He's Ladybug's partner. She'd be lost without him. Paris would be lost without him."
Hearing all that really touched Adrien's heart. Sometimes he did feel like Ladybug could save Paris without him, but she always reassured him that she couldn't do it without him beside her. And while she didn't love him back like he loved her, she never wanted to be without him.
It was refreshing having someone else say that about him too. Even if it was just one citizen, Marinette's praise was worth so much more than that.
"You know what Marinette," he said, a grin forming on his face. "I think you're right."
Marinette smiled back at him.
The next thing she knew, Adrien was directing her over to a nearby booth that was making and selling smoothies.
Adrien ordered a red smoothie with the Ladybug symbol on the cup while Marinette ordered a green one with Chat Noir's symbol on the cup.
See u tomorrow =^.^=
