Day 30: Kissing practice

"You've never been kissed before?" Chat asked his bluenette lady friend as he leaned on her balcony railing.

"No," was her simple reply as she stared at the Seine.

"Well, I have. The only problem is, I can't remember it," Chat said with a dry chuckle.

Marinette looked back at her feline gentlemen caller. "Oh, you mean that time Ladybug kissed you to break Dark Cupid's spell?" She was the only one who remembered that. And the only reason Chat knew it happened at all was because someone took a picture.

"Yeah. And then we apparently kissed again just after defeating Oblivio, but neither one of us can remember it or even why we did it," he ranted, annoyance in his voice. "I got to kiss her twice and I can't remember either because of akumas!"

Chat leaned his forehead down to his hands on the railing in frustration.

"I'm sorry, Chat," Marinette said, reaching out and rubbing his shoulder.

Chat slowly raised his head a bit. "I just wish I could kiss a girl, and for once, remember it."

Marinette withdrew her hand and thought about what he said for a minute. "Even if the kiss is terrible or it's with a girl you don't like?" she asked, half joking.

Chat stood up properly and looked back at her. "Well…I wouldn't say that," he told her. "I'd never just kiss some random girl just for the purpose of having my first kiss that I actually remember. I'd want it to actually be memorable." That was understandable. While it had been for the purpose of breaking a spell, Marinette did sort of enjoy the kiss she gave Chat. It was a long time ago, back before them both really knew each other, but it was certainly memorable—in a good way. "Whether it's with Ladybug or some other girl I adore," he added, glancing off for a moment before looking back at Marinette again.

This had Marinette look away, back at the view with a blush on her cheeks. Chat giggled before going back to staring at the city with her.

A pleasant silence fell between them, allowing Marinette time to consider her next move.

Was Chat insinuating that he'd like to kiss her? Or was he just teasing? No, Chat would never go that far if he didn't really mean it. And it wasn't like she didn't want to either. But Chat was in love with Ladybug. Surely, he'd rather have his first kiss with her if he could.

Sure, the next time he saw her as Ladybug, she could offer, but she decided against it. The whole reason she hung out with him as Marinette was so he could hopefully learn to save being goofy for when he was around her so he'd be more serious when working with Ladybug.

Ladybug was supposed to be his partner. Nothing more. She wanted him to act more professionally during battles when she was transformed with him. But when there was no danger, no akumas, he was free to be as goofy as he pleased with Marinette right there.

Over time, she grew to love Chat, all sides of his superhero self. But Ladybug still needed him to be as serious in battle as possible. That allowed him to be as flirty and silly as he pleased with Marinette.

Argo, in wouldn't be keeping things professional at all for Ladybug to volunteer to be Chat's kissing partner.

His close friend Marinette, however…

"Chat," Marinette finally said, mind made up.

"Yeah," he replied.

Marinette took a quick breath before continuing. "If you wanted to, I wouldn't mind giving you your first kiss."

Chat's head snapped up then turned it to Marinette so fast, it might have cracked. "R-Really? You would?" he asked, not sure if he believed she really said that but very interested never the less.

"Well, sure. I mean…we're friends. I like you a lot," she admitted somewhat bashfully.

"And I like you a lot too," he replied eagerly.

"Would you…mind…getting your first kiss from me?"

"Mind? I couldn't think of anyone else I'd rather it'd be."

Marinette looked at him, a bit puzzled. "What about Ladybug?"

Chat paused for a second, then grinned. "While I'd love to kiss her one day and get to remember it, she's my partner. As much as I still love her, I'm really trying to keep things strictly platonic but friendly between us," he stated.

Hearing this made Marinette smile. So it was working. "That's good," she nodded. The two just smiled at each other silently for a few seconds. Then Marinette broke it with a light cough. "So…"

Chat's expression snapped back into full focus. "Oh, right," he said, also bashful and a bit nervous before stepping closer to her. He placed his left hand on top of her right, on the railing, but he wasn't sure what to do next. "Um…" he stuttered.

Marinette giggled and took both his hands and placed them on her waist.

"Try this," she instructed as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

Chat blushed harder but smiled, having her face so close to his.

Both pairs of eyes fluttered closed as they leaned their heads in, more and more, until their lips met.

It was just a peck. Passable for both of their first kiss. But these two didn't want passable anymore. What they were after was memorable.

Their lips pressed together a bit more firmly. Chat moved his hands to caress Marinette's hips a bit tighter as her hands went up to his wild blonde hair, carding her fingers through and pulling his head in closer to her. Their lips unattached for only a moment so they could take a small breath, but then they went right back in to continue.

Marinette tilted her head one way while Chat tilted his the other way to kiss each other deeper.

Even with his chest pressed flush against hers, Chat took a step forward, pushing her back a bit until her bottom made contact with the railing. Marinette gasped into his mouth at the sudden move but kept going.

It got even better when Chat decided to open his mouth. Marinette, out of reflex, opened her mouth as well. Both let out moans as their tongues met somewhere between their locked lips.

Neither wanted the kiss to end.

Sadly, they both needed to breath. So, reluctantly, they both pulled apart, gasping heavily. Chat's emerald feline eyes locked deeply with Marinette's bluebell ones, trying extra hard not to blink too much.

Eventually, Marinette found her voice again.

"So…you still remember what we just did?" she asked, jokingly. She just wanted to be sure that he did indeed remember after it was over.

She definitely wanted him to.

Chat chuckled breathlessly. "I don't think I could ever forget it," he said, bringing one of his hands up from her waist and caressed her cheek. "But maybe we should again, just to make sure," he said goofily.

Marinette giggled. "Silly kitty," she lightly shook her head but gladly pulled him back down for their second.

This was all a good sign. If Chat felt this way about Marinette too, then he was starting to love both sides of her. Not just Ladybug.

He really did love her. And honestly, she really loved him. Whoever he was under the black mask, she loved this boy.
