With This Ring

"With this ring, I thee wed."

The redhead, hands trembling, slipped her ring onto Shego's ring finger.

The rings, like every other part of the ceremony, were uniquely crafted to suit their bearers. Kim's ring to Sheshona was a simple, elegant, and symbolic affair. It was cast in what the mercenary considered to be Kim's cardinal colors; Blue and White. A single large stone was set within the ring, a bottomless blue sapphire that seemed to suck in light. Yet, when slipped onto Shego's finger it suddenly came alive, that light released and clarified within the intricate cobalt facets.

The mercenary had wanted, of course, a Princess cut stone… for obvious reasons to everyone but the jeweler. Yet Kim had insisted on something more unique and not often seen in wedding bands. So the stone was cut in a curved Trilliant, a rounded triangular form. The jeweler had initially resisted, until he had seen the stone chosen, and then, suddenly, he acquiesced to the design and happily began work.

The band had been Sheshona's idea. Wedding Bands were supposed to be unbroken circles, symbolizing eternity. However, of course, the great and powerful Shego was anything but traditional. It was a slightly masculine style, yet still smooth and featureless; and on each side of the special sapphire the band rose up to encompass it completely. Yet, aside from a hidden structural point, the ring was broken; as Sheshona boldly stated her world now began and ended with Kim. It was an echo of the words they had spoken in the lair of Antonio Senior when Kim had told Shego that she was never again allowed to go off alone and risk her life and leave Kim to worry for her.

The band itself was a whitish metal, Titanium. It had two purposes. Of course, the smooth silvery metal symbolized strength and endurance, but its other property was almost entirely functional. It was the only metal the jeweler could work with which would withstand Shego's abilities. And hidden, laser etched into the inside of the band was Kim's full name, in her own signature. In show of essential Kimness, the redhead had gone through three full sheets of paper before finally settling on a signature she liked the looks of.

Pausing to cough slightly, Shego realized that everyone was waiting on her while she considered the ring now on her left hand. She had completely missed the Justice of the Peace asking her to repeat the words as well. Shaking her head and flexing a mental muscle, she ignited her left hand, causing the sapphire to light up from within for show to the crowd, emitting a blue laser which surprised even the mercenary a moment.

"Sorry sorry… I always thought I'd get to say 'you're mine now' right here..." she covered sheepishly. She lifted Kim's hand and slid her own ring onto the third finger. "With this ring, I thee wed."

Kim's ring, in design, was identical to Sheshona's. It was, however, crafted of different materials. The trilliant stone that closed the ring was as deeply colored as Kim's own, but it was Shego's seminal color, a Colombian Emerald of deepest green. How Shego had come by it was a secret she had shared with no one, save to say that it was not stolen, nor lab grown.

The material of the band had been a point of contention between them. As Kim's ring to Shego was crafted in her colors, so was to be the mercenary's ring to Kim. However, the redhead had balked at Shego's suggestion of stainless steel treated in black chrome. Shego's argument that black and white identical rings certainly demonstrated how simultaneously opposite and alike they were was very persuasive. But in the end, Kim had won out by pointing out that unlike Shego's indestructible titanium ring, any chrome treatment to hers would ultimately be scratched and worn, and she didn't want a symbol of her union with the woman of her dreams to constantly need re-plating.

And so, the laser-inscribed band going over Kim's wedding finger was cast in the purest gold fit for rings, a deep yellow that served to light the fire within the emerald it surrounded. The bonus was that it nicely accepted Shego's full, legal name in her own hand writing, etched with that wonderful jeweler's laser; Sheshona Elsbeth Possible.

"Well then," the JP smiled once hands were squeezed and both women looked back to him, "by the power specially vested in me by the State of Colorado for this occasion, I now pronounce you Married. So go on… Kiss each other."
