Time skip because the second Arc is where the main story is, but there's stuff that I need to go through before that.

It has been almost a year since Luz was forced to run to the knee, to say that she's adjusting, would be an understatement. She was wearing her winter clothes, which resembled a ghillie suit in the Human military used. Her's was made out of animal pelts, it kept her warm and it kept animals from catching her while she was hunting. Luz was crouching and she had an arrow notched on her bow. Every three days she checks her traps, which means she needs to stay alert. An easy meal is what brings predators, and that's how she got the scar on the side of her face. She wasn't careful and a wolf snuck up on her... she had no idea that the Boiling Isles even had wolves until that. Luz walked to her trap, which resembled a bear trap, but on much smaller scale. She saw one of the Boiling Isles rabbits, which are about twice as large as normal rabbits, stuck in her trap. She made sure the area was clear before putting her bow and arrow down and pulled her knife out. She used her knife to open the trap and put the rabbit in her bag strapped to her back. She was resetting the trap when she heard something in the woods. She quickly grabbed her bow and aimed it at the woods. She stayed there for almost a minute before moving towards the tree line. She looked through it and looked at what was making the noise.

"Poachers." She growled.

Spending the last year here has given her a new appreciation for the animals and plant life here, even the ones that she kills and uses. She acts similar to the Natives did when they would hunt. She would use every part, as well as thank the animal she was eating. She would never hurt an animal if it wasn't for survival after what she's been through. Due to this, she has an even bigger dislike for poachers because of this. She watched as they loaded a dead Slitherbeast into a wagon.

"This old girl will fetch us a pretty penny." One said.

"And the baby will bring in some big bucks on the black market." Another said.

Luz looked and saw a baby Slitherbeast in a cage.

"Not today." Luz said.

She pulled the drawstring back and pressed the glyph on the stone arrow head. Luz learned a specific stone has produces a slimy substance that's flammable. Luz compared it to gas in the Human world, except it didn't have a smell and tasted like lemons... don't ask why she knows that. The glyph glowed and the arrow head lit. Luz aimed her bow up and fired. The arrow arched and landed in a barrel of Animal fur. The fur burned and the fire spread to other plants around it. She used the distraction to fire another arrow at one of them, hitting them in the leg. He fell and screamed in pain. Luz shot another arrow and this one hit the other one in the shoulder. He screamed too before helping his partner up and dragging him to the cart with one arm.

"Let's get out of here!"

They left, leaving behind all most of their stuff. Luz pulled out another arrow, this one with a different glyph. She tapped it and fired at the fire. It landed and froze the entire thing over, putting the fire out instantly. Luz walked through the small camp they set up, looking around for anything they left. She picked up a few tools. Nothing fancy, just a pickaxe, an old axe, and some metal. She could use it. Luz walked over to the cage and saw the slitherbeast baby. The baby whimpered at her, clearly afraid. Luz reached into her bag and pulled out a small strip of meat. She gave it to the baby and unlocked the cage. She knew that Slitherbeast usually begin to live on their own around this age, so it should be fine. Luz left the camp to go check the rest of her traps before heading back to her cave.
