Luz tossed a rope down into the sunken building, she found it when she was cutting trees for firewood. It looked like it wasn't touched in centuries, so she ran back to her cabin and got some rope to check it out. She tested the rope, making sure it was properly tied to the tree.
"Alright, hope this doesn't go bad." Luz said.
She started to descend into the building. She made it to the bottom and looked around.
"It looks like an old library." Luz said, noticing skeletons in old Coven Uniforms, "Looks like Belos wanted this place to be lost, which means there's something in here I should look for."
Luz made a spell circle and made a light spell. It was small and dim, due to her body still getting used to the bile sac, but it lit the place up enough for her to see the old books.
"This place is filled with old spell books, maybe I can find something that cures Petrification!"
Luz looked through the first shelf, looking through the old, dusty, and icy books. Being as careful as she could to make sure they didn't fall apart due to being old, fragile, or covered in ice but luckily, they were still in good enough condition to read the spines and the covers.
"Alright, this is prior to Belos taking over, so, I'll start here." Luz said, pulling a few books out.
Over the next several hours, Luz went through almost a hundred books. So far, she had nothing. She found weapons, cures, actual ancient medicine that didn't require magic, the Boiling Isles History, and several other things, but nothing on a cure for Petrification.
"There has to be something." Luz said, "Maybe I'm not thinking this through. Where would they put a book about a horrible punish... that's it."
Luz ran over to a section with several books about punishment. There was one labeled, 'Petrification'.
"This is it!"
Luz grabbed the book and took it. She went back to the rope and climbed out. As she started to untie the rope, she heard voices. Luz looked through the bushes and saw Coven Guards. She slowly pulled out an arrow and put it on the drawstring. She pointed it at one of their heads, when she noticed something.
"Amity?"
The guard that didn't have a face mask was very clearly the girl she danced with all those years ago at Grom. Luz eased on the string, but kept the arrow on it, just in case.
"Anything?" Amity asked.
"The footprints are hard to track in the snow." The one on the left said.
"I see. Thank you, Willow. Gus, anything you found?" Amity asked.
"Willow? Gus?"
"I found some cut trees, looks like they were made by an axe." Gus said.
"Good, we'll start there." Amity said.
Luz put the arrow away and slowly backed away from the bush. Unfortunately, Luz stepped on a stick and it broke, gaining the attention of her old friends.
'Shit.'
