Saturday HQ
It was a beautiful day out. The Saturdays were at their HQ which also doubled as their home. Doc was busy upgrading the security system.
"Alright, I think that about finishes things up." Doc said, taking off the welding goggles he had on.
"Security system online. Welcome home Saturdays." The security system AI said.
"So dad, why'd you upgrade the security system? The one we had before worked pretty good. Not counting the Piecemeal incident." Zak said.
"Just thought the system needed an upgrade. Besides when our headquarters got destroyed, we've been using the same security system for years. With how fast tech is evolving, the security system we had before would be child's play to bypass." Doc explained.
"Child's play? I feel very offended by that statement Mr. Saturday." A voice said. An all too familiar voice to the Saturday family, and particularly Zak. And it scared him. He let out a yell.
"Wadi, could you please stop doing that?" Zak asked the girl.
"Of course, there are exceptions to the rule." Doc said, smiling.
Wadi laughed. "It is good to see you too Zak." She said before they embraced each other in a long hug. Unless you already had prior knowledge of their relationship, onlookers wouldn't notice the affection that was put into that embrace by the two teenagers. Ever since Zak's 13th birthday, they had been in a romantic relationship.
Of course, like the kleptomaniac Wadi is, although this was more to mess with Zak more than anything else now, she took the belt from Zak's pants while he was talking to his father about the security system. And so, while they embraced, Zak's pants, to the embarrassment of the 14 year-old boy fell down to his feet.
Zak simply gave her a look, then smiled and shook his head, taking the belt back as much as Wadi was giving it back to him. He pulled his pants back up and adjusted the belt back on to his usual comfortable fit.
"Not that I'm not happy to see you or anything, but what made you come here?" Zak asked, knowing that where her father went, she went as well for the most part.
"More business involving my father. Being a leader makes you a very busy man." Wadi explained.
Drew walked into the room with a black dress and was wearing pearls around her neck.
"Honey, didn't I tell you that security system could wait?" Drew asked her husband.
Doc rubbed the back of his hand, sporting a bashful look. "Yes, you did." He said, but added, "But I just couldn't wait until tonight. What if something happened to them? Especially with Wadi being here. Her father wouldn't be happy." Doc said.
"Hi Wadi." Drew said, greeting her.
"Hello Mrs. Saturday." Wadi said.
"Anyways, I'm sure they would have been fine. Outside of the incident with the Demon Realm things have been pretty quiet. And that was almost a year ago." Drew said assuredly.
Doc looked at his wife with a straight face in the eye. Doc and Drew had been together long enough to know some of the signature looks that they gave to each other and to others. In this case, Doc was being serious. Whatever he was about to say, he really felt that way. 100% the truth.
"Drew, be honest with yourself. Would you be worried about trouble finding these two, or these two somehow finding trouble?" Doc asked.
"Mmm yep. Definitely got a point there." Drew said, much to the displeasure of the two teenagers as they frowned.
"What's that supposed to mean? It's not like I hadn't dealt with trouble on my own before." Zak said.
"Like you dealt with trouble in Kumari Kandem with the Cortex Disruptor?" Drew asked.
"Come on, that was a while ago, you can't use that against me. I've changed." Zak said.
"Changed how?" Wadi asked.
"Who's side are you on?" Zak asked her.
"I know you've been with Zak for over a year now, but there are a lot of things you don't know about him that you should probably watch out for. I'd say he's more dangerous with you around than he is when you aren't. Exhibit A: China." Drew said.
"I keep telling you guys, it was the tiger, not me." Zak insisted.
Wadi simply rolled her eyes.
Drew just smiled at her son. He would keep denying his feelings for Wadi being at least part of the reason for a lot of his blunders until the end of time.
"Zak, we're going out. You're the man of the house. Make sure Fiskerton and the others stay out of trouble. Wadi, make sure Zak stays out of trouble." Doc said.
"But wait, how does that make any sense? If I'm the man of the house doesn't that mean I have to make sure everybody stays out of trouble since I'm the most responsible?" Zak asked.
Wadi chuckled. "You? Responsible?" Wadi asked Zak
"Listen, if you guys think I'm so irresponsible, why didn't you call a babysitter, like Beeman? Or even Uncle Doyle?" Zak asked his parents.
"Because you and Doyle together are like gasoline and fire. If we brought Doyle here, he'd have you cause more trouble than you already do." Drew said.
"As for the babysitter, we'd rather not have you in their hair." Doc said before going to get dressed.
When he returned, he was in a suit that matched up with his wife's dress.
"If you need anything, please don't hesitate to call us." Doc said. "And please, try not to destroy the headquarters while we're gone."
Drew gives Zak a kiss on the cheek before they head off. "We'll be back before you know it."
"Have fun you two!" Zak called out to them as they left.
"I'll show them I can be man of the house." Zak said, once they were far enough out of earshot.
Wadi simply rolled her eyes. Zak and his macho pride. It was something that she realized was a common trait in the opposite gender of her. But for Zak, it seemed like it was worse than what she has seen from so many others. When he felt he had to prove something, it almost always led him to doing something boneheaded, which caused trouble for himself and/or the people around him. But maybe for her, it was just because she has been around Zak for so long that she believes he's one of the worst. But even so, his bravery, sense of adventure and fearlessness was one reason she admired him so much. And it was the reason why at one point, she really wanted to be like him, remembering that Zak called her yo-yo her own Claw.
Little did the two know that a figure was watching them from afar and was ready to add to his already long list of prey.
A/N: And there's the first chapter! Find out what happens in the next chapter!
Fun Fact: Each of the four colors used on the cover for each hero matches the colors of the TMNT. Not something that I had thought about or noticed going in, but it was one of the reasons I stuck with the choice of this being a four-way crossover.
