Damian stirred as Proxy sparked and twitched. His eyes widened and he sat up just as Proxy's holographic systems began to activate.

"Master...I don't...something's...wrong!" Proxy said before falling still, becoming a woman with black hair in a pair of short tails on either side of her head, blue eyes, dark lipstick, a sleeveless green armored tunic with a high collar and gold highlights, black pants and boots, silver gauntlets, and a calm yet appraising stare as she surveyed Damian.

"Proxy?" Damian asked.

"Your droid is currently in a sleep cycle," the woman said.

"You hacked my droid?" Damian asked. "How?"

"Hacked isn't the right word," she said. "I'm...appropriating it for a short while. I'll leave your droid with data to recreate my personality and skills as one of its combat forms when I'm done."

"How can you do that?" Damian asked. "Who are you?"

"My name is Satele Shan," the woman said, Damian's jaw dropping. "You've felt my presence before. When you were fighting the Gen'Dai, then again later on against the holodroid that was using Darth Malgus."

"That was you?" Damian asked. "I suppose that would explain it then. But why?"

Satele shrugged. "To be perfectly honest, I'm not really sure. I just felt like I was supposed to."

Damian nodded. "I suppose I understand that. But, why are you here now?"

"I'm here to tell you about our family," Satele said. "It's knowledge that was once passed down through our family, but known only to our family. However, at some point, that knowledge was lost. You know that our family is naturally powerful in the Force, to the point of being prodigious. However, you never learned why. The truth is, the Shan family is not purely human. We're mostly human, now with Togruta mixed in, but we're not pure human. Not since generations before Bastila Shan."

"If we're not all human, what else are we?" Damian asked.

"During the Clone Wars, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker happened upon a separate realm known as Mortis, where they met three beings who were embodiments of the Force," Satele said. "They were known as the Ones, or the Mortis Gods. There was the Father, the Daughter, and the Son. The Son embodied the Dark Side of the Force, and the Daughter the Light Side. The Father embodied the balance, the Force as a whole. While on Mortis, Ahsoka Tano was killed. However, the Daughter, who was dying as well, used the last of her life force to revive Ahsoka Tano. The Father and the Son also died, and Mortis itself vanished. However, those three were not the only Mortis Gods. Long before their deaths, there was a fourth."

"The Mother," Damian guessed.

"That is correct," Satele nodded. "She, like the father, represented the Force as a whole. However, she had a vision of her family's future. She saw her beloved son killing her beloved daughter. She saw her husband killing himself, and the son being killed. It broke her heart, because she knew she could not stop the vision from coming to pass without dooming the galaxy, and yet could not bear to watch. And so, she left mortis. She began to travel the galaxy, to see all it had to offer. She met a man who helped her to see the galaxy, and eventually fell in love with him. In time, she bore him a child, a daughter. Because the Mother had no last name, they used the father's. And so, the child grew up Alaina Shan. As the daughter of the Mother, Alaina possessed a natural affinity for the Force that was far stronger than that of any other Jedi or Sith alive. The Mother, having seen her newest daughter alive and healthy, began to miss her other two children, and travelled home. However, shortly after arriving, she fell ill. After having passed on her power in part to a being that was not a One, her life force began to fail as age began to catch up to her. She died not long after returning to Mortis. Later, when Alaina gave birth to her children, she found that both of them possessed an affinity for the Force equally as powerful as her own. And as the Shan family continued, that same connection to the force never weakened, leading to you, and now your daughter. Not all Shan descendants were Force Sensitive, granted. The Gift does skip generations from time to time, but those who inherit it, as almost all do, are powerful with the Force."

"Did the Ones dying weaken the Force at all?" Damian asked.

"No," Satele said. "They were manifested from the Force, but they were not its source. They had the ability to balance or unbalance the Force, their existence made that aspect of the Force more...prominent, so to speak. But they did not strengthen the Force. As such, their deaths did not weaken it."

Damian nodded. "Thank you for telling me, but was there a particular reason I should know?"

"Beyond knowing what you really are?" Satele asked. "Yes. One day, you will be tested. You will have to choose which side of the Force to align with. But if you do not know what you are, you will not know you have the choice."

Damian nodded. "Then I thank you."

Satele nodded and distorted as Proxy's holo tech shut down. He shook his head, holding a hand to it before looking around.

"Master?" Proxy asked. "What happened? I...I believe I powered down. Oh! And it seems I have a new combat form. Did you upload new data into my system?"

"Something like that," Damian said. "What can you tell me about the new form?"

Proxy transformed into Satele once again, including her voice. "Former Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, Satele Shan, your ancestor. She fought in numerous wars against the Sith, and even worked with them to fight against a powerful foe named Revan, one of her ancestors."

Damian nodded. "I'm going to go back to sleep. Go ahead and power back down for a bit."

Proxy nodded and did as instructed, Damian climbing back into bed and falling back asleep quickly, despite his mind still struggling to grasp the concept of a being manifested as an embodiment of the Force being his ancestor.
