Chapter 4: The Doubles Round, Part 1
The next day, 28th September 18 BBY, 12:30 pm…
Nathan let out a peaceful, contented sigh as he relaxed with a book.
He and Pyrrha had finished training ahead of their doubles round match later on in the day, and he had decided to relax for a bit ahead of the fight, since it was slotted to be the final tournament match of the day. The main event, if it were.
Nathan had no idea who he and Pyrrha would be facing, but he wasn't bothered. He and Pyrrha had done their part. Now it was all up to the hands of fate to see them through to the singles round.
But for now, Nathan was just fine reading his book, relaxing ahead of the tournament fights.
Until:
"Hey, Nathan."
Looking up, Nathan smiled warmly as he saw Blake stood there, watching him. "Hey, beautiful." Nathan replied, setting his book aside and closing the distance with Blake, hugging her. "Haven't seen you all day. You okay?"
Blake nodded. "Never better. Been busy helping Yang and Weiss prepare for the doubles round. Have you prepared for yours?"
Nathan smirked. "You know I have."
"Good." Blake replied as they shared a kiss. "Come on. Let's take a seat."
"After you." Nathan said, gesturing for Blake to lead the way.
Blake smiled warmly. "Such a gentleman." She remarked.
"Add it to the unbelievably long list of reasons you love me." Nathan replied.
"I already have." Blake retorted happily as she and Nathan sat down with each other.
The couple sat in silence for a number of minutes until finally, Blake spoke:
"I think you can safely consider my mom a fan. She could not stop talking about you; how polite, how friendly you are; and just how decent a guy you are."
"That was quick." Nathan muttered, making Blake giggle. "Did your dad join in at all?"
"Yes. He arrived home shortly after you left." Blake replied. "Mom wasted zero time in singing your praises."
"And what'd your old man say? Anything juicy?"
Blake nodded. "He's reserving judgement until he either speaks with you personally, or sees your face." Blake sighed. "He was also a little iffy about you being a human."
Nathan frowned. "Seriously? I thought humans were the racist ones."
"Sadly, it can cut both ways." Blake said. "Some faunus resent humans for their part in the struggles a faunus faces. And my father was admitted quite jaded with how little he managed to achieve as leader of the White Fang. So it stands to reason that he'd be a little reluctant to believe you're worthy of me."
Nathan sighed at that.
"Hey…" Blake said, cupping Nathan's cheeks in her hands. "He doesn't know you yet. When he realises that you're not a bad person, he'll like you."
"I hope so." Nathan replied. "The last thing I want is for you to be forced to choose between me or your family."
"It won't come to that." Blake declared softly. Then, she leaned in and kissed Nathan passionately.
Nathan pulled Blake close in response, returning and even deepening the kiss.
Blake then straddled Nathan, holding him close.
Running his hands over Blake's back, Nathan reached up and started stroking Blake's hair, hearing Blake sigh into the kiss, before he then started edging his hand lower and lower down Blake's back, towards her ample buttocks.
Until it was grabbed hard, its motion arrested.
Nathan opened his eyes to meet Blake's as she stared at him with a smirk.
"Trying to cop a feel, are we?" Blake asked playfully.
"Uh…" Nathan said, not knowing how to respond until Blake laughed.
"Nathan… it's okay." Blake stated. "I know my butt is my best asset. And in time… I might let you give it a squeeze or two. But it's only been a week since we started dating. We have plenty of time to explore each other's bodies in the future."
"Would this include naked exploration?" Nathan asked jokingly.
Blake giggled. "You'll have to find out, won't you?" She replied before leaning in and kissing Nathan again.
Pulling Blake close again, Nathan returned the kiss, stroking her hair as he did and hearing Blake sigh happily.
"Students of Beacon Academy! The winner of this year's Vytal Festival Tournament has finally graced you with his presence!"
Breaking the kiss, Nathan looked towards the commotion and sighed, eyeing Blake as they both headed over to investigate.
The sight that greeted them was something that made Nathan roll his eyes.
Stood atop a makeshift podium was a young man in Atlas Academy's school uniform.
He was a tall, good looking young man with short, closely cropped brown hair and green eyes, and he was currently addressing an assembled group of Beacon Academy students with three other people wearing Atlas Academy uniforms stood nearby listening to him speak.
Nathan folded his arms, recognising the man instantly:
It was Hector Crassus, Pyrrha's former rival, and his team from Atlas Academy.
Nathan smiled at this. It occurred to him that perhaps Hector did not know who he was. Which gave him a good opportunity to get inside Hector's head prior to the latter's eventual clash with Pyrrha.
Pyrrha had told Nathan that Hector was an ego driven and delusional warrior who always bragged about how much better he was than her… despite losing every single one of his fights against her.
Nathan had seen Hector's post-match interviews, and the memory made him smirk, as every time Hector lost, it was always because of something else. Not because of him.
"Look familiar?" Blake asked as she joined him.
"That there is Hector Crassus. One of Pyrrha's most prolific rivals." Nathan replied. "He's apparently here for the tournament, and we might be facing them sometime soon. So… what do you say I get in his head a little?"
"Go ahead." Blake said with a smile, kissing Nathan as he walked towards the assembled throng, hearing Hector preach:
"Pyrrha Nikos will taste defeat at my hand when we do battle in the tournament! I know it; you know it, and the entire world of Remnant knows it!" Hector declared.
"Fat chance. Pyrrha's already beat you a tonne of times. What makes your upcoming fight any different?" Said a random student.
"Preparation, my friend! Preparation!" Hector said. "I have been training relentlessly in preparation for the battle , and thanks to some valuable insight from a trustworthy source, Pyrrha will finally taste defeat at my hands, and every failure I've suffered as a result of referee incompetence, the enhancement drugs Pyrrha clearly uses, and all of that will finally be shown to be the flukes they are and always will be! And I… Hector Crassus of Argus, will finally receive the acclaim and respect I have been denied my entire life!"
Nathan fought hard not to cringe. The man was so delusional, he should be in some form of mental hospital. Taking a breath, he finally decided to speak:
"Geez, delusional much? No wonder you keep losing to Pyrrha." Nathan said as he came to the front of the crowd, staring Hector down. "You spend so much time jerking off over yourself, you forget to do anything that remotely resembles fighting."
"OH!" The crowd exclaimed as they burst out laughing.
The smirk faded from Hector's face as he stormed up to Nathan, saying: "I do not know who you think you are, but I will remember your face. So that once I defeat Pyrrha, I can find you and rub my victory in your face!"
Nathan scoffed. "Bitch please. You'd have better luck seducing Pyrrha's mom. Not that there's anything there remotely worth seducing."
At that, the crowd detonated into peals of laughter as Hector seethed with anger.
Nathan smirked and turned to walk away, rejoining a giggling Blake as he did.
"You never cease to make me laugh, Nathan." Blake remarked.
"I do my best." Nathan replied, pulling Blake close and pecking her on the cheek.
Amity Colosseum, 13:15 pm…
"Hey, Nate!" Ruby said cheerfully as she saw Nathan and Blake joining them.
"What's up, Rubes?" Nathan replied, ruffling Ruby's hair as he saw Blake to her seat, before sitting next to his teammates.
"Your putdown of that Pyrrha hater earlier was awesome!" Yang remarked. "Somebody was filming it and it's gone viral. Best part is; he doesn't know you're Pyrrha's teammate!"
"All the better for when I show up next to Pyrrha in the doubles round." Nathan responded. "Then; depending on whether we're facing him and his teammates or not; we can utterly shred him, his teammates, and Pyrrha's mom."
"I'm certainly looking forward to that." Pyrrha remarked from where she was sat, looking over to and smiling at Nathan.
Nathan nodded, then leaned back. "Anyway; I'm guessing you three met Blake's dad when I left." He said, eyeing the rest of Team RWBY.
"Yeah. He was cool." Ruby remarked. "Was kinda intimidating though; being so big."
"He was polite and cordial, and it's clear he cares deeply about Blake." Weiss commented. "Understandably, he was rather cold towards me. I cannot say I blame him; given my family's considerable list of sins committed against the faunus."
"Give it time, Weiss." Yang said. "He'll warm up to you; given enough time. I know we have."
"Now all that remains is for an in-person meeting." Blake declared. "Nothing is concrete, but me and the team are looking at heading over to Menagerie to spend New Year's there." Looking towards Nathan, Blake asked: "Care to join us, Nathan?"
"I'd be happy to." Nathan replied. "Maybe we could make it a surprise. Make your family think that you have other commitments, and then boom! Surprise them by showing up completely unannounced and make their year."
"That sounds like a brilliant idea." Blake responded. "We'd need someone to coordinate the surprise with, though. And the only option we really have is Ilia." She sighed. "And as I've said to you; I have a feeling she won't be happy to see me since I left the White Fang."
"You never know unless you try, Blake." Nathan replied, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "Just like with your parents."
"Nate's right, Blake. Just because you think something doesn't necessarily mean it's actually going to be true." Yang added. "For all you know; Ilia's been dying to hear from you; just like your parents were."
"I agree with Nathan and Yang." Weiss said. "And should Ilia be reluctant to resume your friendship; then we will endeavour to assist you in repairing it. Even if Ilia has her own set of issues with my family."
"Wait; what?" Nathan asked. "What is Weiss talking about?"
Blake made to answer, when Port's voice came over the PA:
"Team CRDL of Beacon! Versus…"
Nathan watched as Russel Thrush and Sky Lark of Team CRDL took to the battlefield, and blinked in surprise when he noticed that Penny was taking the field opposite CRDL, alongside someone else. Shit just got interesting, Nathan thought to himself.
"PENNY!" Ruby called out happily.
Nathan smiled as he sat back with folded arms. If what he'd already seen Penny do was any indication; then Team CRDL was set to get utterly trounced. Looking at Jaune; Nathan asked: "I've got a feeling you're gonna be having a pretty sizeable justice boner after this one."
"Looking forward to it already." Jaune replied with a grin.
"She'd better break their legs!" Nora said with folded arms.
"I gather she will do more than that." Pyrrha pointed out.
"We'll have to see." Ren stated.
"Whatever the case… good thing we have popcorn." Nathan remarked as he and the team sat back to watch the fight.
Not long later…
"And… they're done." Nathan muttered as Ruby cheered for Penny and her teammate's victory over Team CRDL.
It had been about as one sided as Nathan had expected, with Penny utterly destroying both members of Team CRDL without much effort, dropping two boulders on top of them to finish them off.
"And victory goes to Penny and Ciel of Atlas!" Oobleck declared over the PA as the crowd cheered for their victory.
Seeing movement out of the corner of his eye, Nathan saw Ruby headed for the exits, and smirked. He imagined Ruby was hoping to catch Penny and congratulate her in person.
"Well; me and Weiss are up, soon." Yang declared as she stood up. "We'd better get down there and get ready."
"Too right." Nathan said, standing up. "Good luck, Yang."
"Thanks, Nate." Yang replied, hugging him. "At least now you can sit next to Blake."
Nathan chuckled. "True." Eyeing Weiss, Nathan said: "Good luck, Weiss."
"Thank you. I am sure we'll-" Weiss paused as she fished out her scroll. "Wonderful." She muttered.
Nathan saw the name on her screen: FATHER.
Scowling, Nathan said: "Let me take this." Taking Weiss' scroll from her, Nathan answered: "Hey… is this Weiss' dad? Yeah… PISS OFF! YOUR DAUGHTER'S ABOUT TO PARTICIPATE IN A DOUBLES ROUND MATCH IN THE VYTAL FESTIVAL TOURNAMENT, AND YOU AREN'T HELPING! SO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LET HER CONCENTRATE, YOU DULL-WITTED PIECE OF SHIT!" At that, he hung up, and handed the scroll to Weiss. "Let me know if he bothers you again. That was the short version of what I've been meaning to say to your old man."
Weiss smiled. "I'm looking forward to the longer version." She replied.
"Anyway… good luck out there, Ice Queen." Nathan said. "Use this tournament to really rub in how much you're enjoying life at Beacon."
"I plan to." Weiss responded, before then hugging Nathan and leaving with Yang.
Nathan then sat back down, this time next to Blake, and took her hand as Blake laid her head on his shoulder.
"Finally." Blake muttered.
"Yeah." Nathan replied, kissing Blake on the top of her head. "Finally."
Before long, Ruby joined them, and together, they sat back to watch Yang and Weiss' doubles round fight.
Later, with Yang and Weiss…
"Well; now it's our turn." Yang said as she folded her arms.
"Just remember to keep proper form." Weiss advised.
"Alright." Yang replied with a sigh as she stretched and warmed up. "You're from Atlas. What can we expect?"
"Well; seeing as their kingdom, academy, and armed forces are all merged as one, I think we can expect strict, militant fighters, with advanced technology and carefully rehearsed strategies." Weiss replied.
WHOOSH!
Both Yang and Weiss froze as a strong gust of wind blew behind them, followed by some odd chiming noises.
They watched as their opponents soon joined them:
One was a young, dark-skinned man with dark brown eyes that were partially hidden behind a pair of sunglasses. He was wearing a dark vest over an untucked white dress shirt, with a loose tie wrapped around the collar. Additionally, he wore a pair of dark dress pants, silver dress shoes and a dark glove on his left hand. Completing his look was a dark fedora with a blue ribbon. In his hands was a trumpet, which seemed to be his weapon of choice.
The other was a young girl with reddish-orange hair with light blue streaks dyed into the bangs, and sea green eyes. A pink tail protruded from behind her, a telltale sign that she was a faunus.
Her outfit consisted of a light blue cropped tank top over a dark purple bra, leaving her upper cleavage visible. She was also wearing dark purple short shorts under a pink combat mini-skirt and white belt with a yellow winking smiley face on the buckle. Additionally, she had a white cat bell collar around her neck, alongside a pair of bracers on her arms and pads on her shins and knees. She also wore red trick roller blades, which each had two wheels. Completing her look were two buttons fixed to her tank top over her right breast.
She spun around a pair of nunchakus, grinning at Yang and Weiss.
"Or… whatever they are." Weiss remarked, looking at an equally surprised Yang.
"Hey!" Their male opponent called out to them, drawing Weiss' attention. "You're Weiss Schnee, right? The heiress."
"I am." Weiss said proudly.
"I take it you're pretty good with dust, then!" the guy remarked.
"I do my best." Weiss replied, allowing a little bashful blush to creep across her cheeks. The man was admittedly handsome.
"Yeah. My dad was good too." The man stated. "Owned a little dust shop of his own. Till your father's company ran him outta business."
"Oh." Weiss said, allowing a sad frown to cross her face. Damn you, father… she thought to herself. Oh well; at least this young man has a chance for revenge. "I'm sorry to hear that." Weiss added.
"Sure you are." Her opponent replied sarcastically.
"Hey, why don't you-" Yang made to say angrily.
"Hey, why don't you!" Their female opponent said, in a mock imitation of Yang's voice. "That's what you sound like!"
"Uh…" Yang made to say.
"Hey! Where'd you get your hair extensions?!" The girl said cheerfully.
"This is just my normal hair." Yang replied, getting slightly weirded out by this girl's inquiries.
"Ooh, really?" The girl remarked.
"Yeah." Yang said defensively, her temper rising. "Is that a prob-"
"You should try roller-blading sometime!" The girl remarked. "It's super fun! It'd probably take you a while though; since you're so… you know… top heavy."
"Excuse me?!" Yang demanded angrily, looking down at her chest.
With the rest of the gang…
"Oh, here we go…" Ruby muttered as the screens appeared, beginning to decide the environments in which Yang, Weiss, and their opponents would be doing battle within.
"That cat girl is gonna get her ass kicked." Nathan muttered to Blake. "Pity you're not down there with them."
"It's okay." Blake replied. "I'd be more worried about them if you were down there."
Nathan chuckled. "Yep. Those two would be more fucked than you would be if we locked you in a room with only Zwei for company."
Blake rolled her eyes and lightly punched Nathan's shoulder as the environments for Yang and Weiss' fight against their opponents were decided:
Ruined city, volcanic rock, rocky terrain, and sand dunes.
"Three. Two. One…" Port called out over the PA, only to suddenly pause for some reason or another.
"What the fuck?" Nathan muttered to himself as an awkward silence emerged amongst the crowd, wondering what had driven Port to pause so suddenly.
Only for Port to suddenly shout: "BEGIN!"
Nathan watched as the guy with the trumpet raised said instrument to his lips, blowing into it and creating a gust of wind that his teammate stepped into, propelling her forward towards Weiss and Yang, the former of whom cast a glyph to hold her and Yang in place.
The roller-blading girl smashed into Yang and sent her flying, leaving Weiss to deal with the trumpet wielding Huntsman.
This just got interesting, Nathan thought to himself as the battle kicked off.
From the get-go, Nathan could tell that Weiss and Yang were dealing with more skilled warriors.
The roller-blading girl was using her speed and manoeuvrability to get the drop on Yang, in conjunction with her nunchucks to beat Yang, whittling away at her aura.
And from Nathan could see, she was constantly taunting Yang, making Team RWBY's resident brawler angrier and angrier.
At the same time, the trumpet wielding Huntsman Weiss was battling matched her move for move, despite Weiss using her semblance to her advantage.
Suddenly, much to Nathan's shock and surprise, Weiss' opponent multiplied, so that alongside him, there were three clones of himself blowing their trumpets towards Weiss, sending her sprawling. That must be his semblance, Nathan thought to himself.
"Whoa…" Jaune remarked from nearby.
Nathan ignored his team leader and focused on the fight, hearing Port and Oobleck over the PA:
"What's this?" Port inquired.
"It appears young Flynt has just activated his semblance, and quite a remarkable one at that!" Oobleck replied over the PA. "Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on Flynt Coal's Killer Quartet!"
Flynt Coal, huh? Nathan thought to himself. He's not half bad, to be fair. Nathan glanced at the aura screen, and frowned.
Both Yang and Weiss were losing considerably, with Yang's aura being at sixty five percent, whilst Weiss was even worse off at forty percent.
The board also told Nathan that Yang's opponent was named Neon Katt, which considering her predilection for bright colours, suited Neon considerably.
Speaking of Neon, she was still taunting Yang, who looked to be getting closer and closer to losing her temper.
Nathan watched as Flynt turned his attention to Yang, taking his eyes off of Weiss for a moment.
Which allowed Weiss to rush Flynt and tackle him into a geyser of lava, stopping him from attacking Yang.
"WEISS!" Ruby and Blake yelled at the top of their lungs, seeing their teammate take herself out.
"Weiss, you crazy fucking bitch." Nathan muttered to himself.
"It appears we have a double knockout on our hands!" Port declared over the PA.
"In fact it looks as though Miss Schnee's aura has been completely depleted!" Oobleck added. "She sacrificed herself to take out Flynt!"
When earlier on in the year, she probably would have left Yang to go down, so she could try and make herself look better in the process, Nathan thought to himself. Weiss has definitely changed for the better.
"Wait a minute…" Oobleck continued. "What's this?!"
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Flynt Coal remains standing!" Port declared.
Nathan looked up to see that Flynt's aura, whilst dangerously in the red, was barely above the threshold at which he'd have been eliminated. This isn't good, Nathan thought to himself. Yang is up against two fighters who can negate her advantage. If she has any hope of winning this; she had better try and close the distance and finish this.
It looked like he needn't have worried, as from what he could see, Yang was now visibly angry, even from where he was sitting.
"Oh ho! It looks like Yang's angry." Port declared over the PA. "And you wouldn't like her when she's… upset."
With Yang…
Yang let out a scream of rage as she stomped her foot, eyes switching from her usual lilac colour to a seething crimson, and her hair took on a fiery appearance, indicating that she had activated her semblance.
As if on cue, geysers of flame exploded behind her from the volcanic rock environment, which served to add to the dramatic effect.
Yang immediately began snapping off shots from Ember Celica as Flynt and Neon moved to intercept, with Flynt blasting Neon towards Yang.
Firing Ember Celica behind her to propel her forward, Yang immediately engaged Neon, trading blows with the brightly dressed cat faunus. Seeing this strategy wasn't working, Yang allowed herself to be blown back by Flynt's trumpet, once again snapping off shots towards Neon and Flynt.
Eventually, one of Yang's shots managed to discharge near Flynt, knocking him off balance and leaving Neon struggling to maintain her footing as she found herself on the rock terrain, which uneven as it was, would be a perfect place to keep Neon.
Problem with rollerblades is the moment you use them on uneven ground, it makes you easier to hit, Yang thought to herself as she hit the ground in a forward roll, deciding that Flynt was the bigger threat at that moment. Running towards him, Yang used Ember Celica to propel herself upwards towards Flynt.
Seeing this, Flynt activated his semblance in an effort to keep Yang away from him.
Not this time, trumpet-head, Yang thought as she used Ember Celica to close the distance, until she could finally clasp her hands around Flynt's trumpet, immediately firing on him with Ember Celica at point blank range with a triumphant cry.
Flynt promptly went flying, as the elimination klaxon sounded for him.
"Ooh; sour note for Flynt!" Oobleck declared over the PA.
Yang finally turned her attention to Neon, who was still trying to find her footing amongst the uneven terrain of the rocky terrain.
Eventually, Neon tripped on a protruding piece of rock, and was sent cascading through the air, all while seemingly in tears.
Yang watched as Neon broke into a forward roll, only to be sent flying upwards by way of a geyser. A grin crossed the golden haired brawler's face as she snapped off a single shot from Ember Celica towards Neon, who could only scream as it struck her, resulting in a massive explosion.
The elimination klaxon sounded, indicating that Yang had won, at which Yang pumped her fist in victory as the crowd cheered for her.
She took a moment to catch her breath; but then remembered something: "Weiss!" She shouted, looking in the direction of the SDC Heiress and rushing to her side.
Weiss was lying on her back, her usually all white ensemble stained with soot and ash, including her face and hair.
"Weiss! Are you okay?!" Yang asked, kneeling by Weiss.
Weiss responded by coughing into her fist, before meeting Yang's worried gaze. "I may not be singing for a while." Weiss replied weakly.
Yang sighed, before smiling. "You know; I'm not sure that was proper form." She remarked.
"Oh ha-ha!" Weiss muttered before breaking into another fit of coughing.
"WHAT?!"
Yang and Weiss looked in the direction of the voice, seeing it was Neon.
"We lost? WE LOST?! TEAM FNKI LOST?!" Neon was saying, as if denying the result. "That was… that was…" Finally, Neon broke into a massive grin, shouting: "AMAZING! Oh my gosh, you guys were super crazy awesome! We should definitely party together sometime! Right Flynt?!" At which Neon looked towards Flynt as he stood up, brushing himself off.
"That was a gutsy move, Schnee." Flynt remarked as he met the SDC Heiress' gaze. "I dig it."
Yang and Weiss smiled before they heard footsteps headed their way, looking to see Ruby and Blake rushing towards them.
"Good job, you two!" Blake said happily as she and Ruby knelt by Weiss' side.
"Yeah!" Ruby added cheerfully.
"Hey Blake; shouldn't you be giving Nate some last-minute encouragement; since he's up next?" Yang asked Blake with a grin.
"I will do." Blake replied. "But right now; my teammates need me."
Yang, Weiss and Ruby all smiled before Weiss broke into another fit of coughing.
"We'd better get Weiss to a medic." Yang said, standing up and helping Weiss to her feet, draping the SDC Heiress' arm over her shoulder.
"Agreed." Blake said as she joined her, taking Weiss' other side as she and Yang helped Weiss backstage.
With Nathan…
Fuck yes! Nathan thought to himself. Looking to Jaune, Nathan said: "Pity me and Pyrrha weren't facing them; whatever Neon could have said about me and Pyrrha; I could have thrown far worse right back at them."
"None of us are gonna even try and argue against that." Jaune replied with a grin.
"Not to mention; you'd utterly destroy them!" Nora declared boldly. "They'd stand a better chance against Zwei! I wonder if Neon's afraid of dogs like Blake? She is a cat faunus after all."
"Nora; that sounds vaguely racist." Ren pointed out.
"Oh; sorry!" Nora said apologetically.
Nathan rolled his eyes and chuckled as his eyes met those of Pyrrha.
"I'd say they'd have given us a challenge, but… we likely would have won somehow." Pyrrha said.
Nathan nodded, then looked down at Team RWBY, helping Weiss backstage. "You're right. For a second there; was worried that Yang and Weiss weren't gonna eke out the win." He said. "Would have hated to miss out on a possible final between you and Yang."
Pyrrha giggled. "Or Sun. I hear that's a fight you're intrigued to see." She replied.
"You aren't wrong." Nathan said, as Professor Port's voice once again came over the PA:
"Our next match will begin in fifteen minutes!"
Nathan looked in the direction of Port and Oobleck in their commentary box, then met Pyrrha's gaze.
"Nathan… it's time." Pyrrha declared, a confident smile crossing her face.
And now it's time for Nathan Phoenix to take the field in the Vytal Festival Tournament. Meaning things are... going to get VERY toasty.
But enough about that; let's answer some reviews, shall we?
april-551: Well; Winter does have a short temper. As for the conversation between Nathan and Qrow; I meant for it to seem to be between two like-minded individuals, as both Nathan and Qrow are veterans of their respective professions. I'm glad you enjoyed Kali and Blake's video call; I was worried I wouldn't do Kali's character justice. And Nathan's ship is probably very, very safely hidden within Forever Fall; what with the very heavy Grimm presence stopping any travellers from delving too deeply into the forest. Unless you're Professor Ozpin.
Guest: I guess Blake is so lovey-dovey with Nathan because unlike Adam; Nathan actually listens to her and supports her, and allows Blake to do the same for him. It's an example of how happy Blake is to be with someone like Nathan who's so kind and friendly towards her. Not to mention he isn't afraid to back her up when it counts.
All that said; thank you all for reading this chapter. If you enjoyed it; you know what to do.
I shall see you all next week with Chapter 5: Which sees Nathan and Pyrrha to take the field against their opponents in the Doubles Round.
