Brooke had returned to the table with her friends. Announcing that she had to cut the night out short. She apologized and promised to make it up to them later.

They were more then understanding and supportive of that.

After having a few weeks to herself. Focusing on her sons. Getting them into a routine and reopening her store.

Peyton resurfaced. At Brooke's front door.

"Who's that guy you left us to talk too.? Who has you distracted and in a daze.?" Peyton asked.

Brooke sighed deeply. And stared up at her best friend.

"Bailey and Barney's father. Lucas Scott. I hadn't seen or spoken to him since that one night that ended up in me having the boys."

"I gave him my number. Laid out one rule. Either he would be fully involved as a father or he wouldn't be involved at all."

"That was days ago. I shouldn't of never come back here." Brooke admits.

"You came back. For the boys. For yourself. And for him."

"You knew he lived here. Never left. You gave him two beautiful sons. And offered him a real place in their life."

"What happens now is on him." Peyton reassured her best friend.

Alex had been out of his life for days now. The relationship was over.

And yet Lucas remained shutting out the world. Brooke's phone number remained on the end table in his bedroom.

This didn't go the way he had planned it at all. He wasn't ready for fatherhood especially with a woman he barely knew.

But he couldn't help it. Asking himself why simply seeing her and talking to her caused him to be able to replay nothing else in his mind.
