Well, I've been running from something

Do you want to see

The place where I am free?

Knocking at his front door. Took Lucas out of his otherwise restless sleep. He left his bedroom. Went downstairs and entered the entryway.

When he opened the front door to his home. It was the familiar face he expected to see. Haley James Taylor didn't do well with no communication especially when it was people she was closest too.

"According to my husband. You're alive and well just avoiding us all. Why is that exactly.?" Haley questioned. As she entered his home.

Lucas sighed deeply. "I told Skills to leave it alone. That i would bring it up to everyone when i was ready." He replied.

"You've had days secluded in this house alone. Whatever it is can't possibly be that bad. Just tell me." Haley insisted.

"I'm a father. To two 12 year old boys. Their mom's name is Brooke Davis. You probably don't know her." Lucas admitted.

Haley's eyes went wide. "I don't know her personally. But everyone in town knows her history. Well the reason she ended up so rich without any family outside of those boys."

"Luke. You can't just ignore or forget what she told you. Dan Scott you are not." She replied.

Lucas glared at her. "I'm not going to abandon my children."

"This is just alot to deal with alone." Lucas admitted.

Lucas had lost his uncle Keith in the school shooting back in high school. His mother during the delivery of his little sister Lilly that he ended up losing as well.

Thinking back on it now. They both found each other during a vunerable time in life.

The blessing of that brought forward two boys. Why wasn't Lucas embracing and going forward towards that instead of retreating into himself.

"Mouth and Rachel are throwing a housewarming party."

"Gwen. You're goddaughter is expecting you to attend."

"Talk to Brooke." Haley insisted.

...

Brooke had braced herself for this conversation with her sons.

Barney had just gotten home from basketball practice and Bailey had the rest of his evening planned beginning a book he had gotten from the school book club that met once a week.

"I have to talk to the both of you about you're father."

"Come here and sit with me." Brooke said.

She was soon seated both her boys in the living room.

"When i had the two of you. I was 18. And still trying to grasp and find myself in a world without my parents. They were killed. I met you're dad at this beach party. He was nice. He listened to me. And i listened in return. We connected. But i knew by the time the sun came up we would never see each other again."

"We were two broken teenagers trying to put ourselves together."

"The happy ending we got was becoming you're parents."

"You saved my life. Having to bring you into the world and create a life for us. Is the only reason i was able to get out of bed and figure out what was next."

"His name is Lucas Scott. The famous writer. He's going to be at aunt Rachel's housewarming party. I thought the two of you could come with me."

"I think it's about time a proper introduction happened." Brooke explained. I'm sorry it took me so long to be honest. This was really difficult to revisit but this isn't about me." The emotion in her voice thick.

"Why hasn't he been around all this time.?" Bailey asked.

"He never knew the two of you existed." Brooke admitted.
