I woke up in another life
When nothing's really dangerous
And everything is black and white
And no one even knows
I woke up in a broken dream
With no one lying next to me
It's not how it's supposed to be
So why'd you have to go?
It was days later. On the day of the housewarming party. Brooke had just checked in on Barney and Bailey who were almost done getting ready. Truthfully they were nervous about meeting their father.
Brooke made it a point to tell them he wouldn't care about what they were wearing but what did she know about Lucas Scott outside of his career and the trauma he had endured.
She realized he was basically a stranger so she had be careful here and make she her sons were mindful about just how close they got to the man.
Brooke stared at herself in the mirror. Loving what she saw. Which had taken time given that her body had never fully recovered regarding the weight she had gained throughout her pregnancy.
She was coverd in curves. Her chest and hips full.
She had on a purple curve hugging dress. Black heels. And pink lipstick. Black eye liner.
At some point she wanted to get into a relationship. But that seemed far into the future.
Knocking at her front door. Brought her straight towards the entryway.
She was surprised and taken off guard to see Lucas.
"So instead of calling you find out where i live and just show up.? Why would you do that.?" Brooke questioned.
Lucas smiled up at her. "Because you can't see my face through the phone. And what i have to say. Needs to be in person."
"We don't each other. Yet we share kids. Which is a life long bond."
"That's why i think it's important that we are in contact and that the two of us spend time together as a family and with just the two of us. Maybe there was a reason all this happened."
"For us to be given a connection that is beyond our personal feelings for each other or lack there of."
"I want to be those boys father in every way you allow it."
"I have more then enough space for them to spend the night and i'm a writer so my work schedule is open."
"You've had to handle raising them on you're own all these years. I'm here to help now. If you'll let me." Lucas proclaimed.
Brooke took a breath. Trying to process what she had just heard.
"Their names are Barney and Bailey."
"Barney is all about basketball and just sports in general. He's all about fashion and friends."
"While Bailey is more into books. Music. Movies. He's all about expressing himself in a creative way."
"They are both loyal. Strong. Are very protective when it comes to me. Barney will be more open to getting to know you. For Bailey it will take time. He's guarded. Just like his mother."
"You have to make them the first priority. They are my whole life."
"If you can't commit to being full time then don't go down this road. I won't let you hurt them. I know what's like to be an after thought or a burden. I felt that way to my parents my entire life." Brooke admitted.
"We have that in common. Dan never wanted me to exist. He certaintly did not plan to ever be a father to me. I am who i am because of my mom and uncle Keith."
"I show up. I make time. I promise you that." Lucas replied.
"Mom we're ready to go." Barney announced.
The expression on Lucas's face softened at the sight of his sons.
He wasn't prepared for the rush of emotion. Love. And protection he felt.
