Reflected Back At You
Chapter 9
Author's Note : My readers i'm humbled and thankful for all of you. I am loving reading you're feedback and seeing you're point of view. Clarity needed. The only people who knew about Brooke's pregnancy were Rachel and Peyton. She made them promise to keep it to themselves. Remember she didn't know Lucas in high school. Outside of their one night stand. We went deep in this chapter.
Who knows what true happiness is, not the conventional word.. but the naked terror. To the lonely themselves, that wears a mask, the most miserable outcast hugs some memory.. or some illusion.'
Days Later
"She called those boys my nephews! I don't know them and i don't want too! How am i supposed to get over this! Brooke is going to allow Lucas and those kids to destroy our friendship." Nathan exclaimed.
Peyton finished getting dressed from her shower and looked to him.
"Nathan calm down. I can't deal with any of you're drama right now. I have to head to the recording studio. I have alot on my mind. Brooke isn't destroying anything. You need to decide to let this feud which was all Dan's doing. Go or you will lose her friendship." Peyton stated matter of fact.
"We're engaged. If Brooke wants to play these games. You need to end you're friendship with her too." Nathan proclaimed.
Peyton couldn't continue this conversation so she just left the bedroom all together.
...
"Blue berry pancakes sausage. Scrambled eggs please."
"My brother will have chocolate chip pancakes. Fried eggs. And bacon. I want apple juice. And he wants orange juice." Barney stated matter of fact.
"French toast. Bacon. And coffee. Cream and two sugars. It's on me. Give me the bill. Thanks." Lucas said. Handing off his menu.
Brooke handed off her menu and ordered a breakfast scramble and a small order of oatmeal.
"Our first family breakfast. When can we stay over at you're house dad.?" Bailey questioned.
"This weekend. I'm probably more excited then the both of you."
"You will have you're own room. You're mom gave me an idea of what food you like. We can do anything we want." Lucas informed them.
Brooke swallowed hard. Feeling her chest tighten. As she read the latest news headline on her cellphone.
Xzavier Daniels. Her parents killer. Was being released from prison.
She knew about the plea deal he had managed get to get but still. The thought of him out and living a life somewhere in the world made her sick.
"Are you okay.?" Lucas asked. Seeing the visibly upset expression on her face.
"No. But it isn't you're problem." Brooke replied.
"I'm here if you want to talk." Lucas said.
"I don't need you to save me Lucas." Brooke stated matter of fact.
"There's nothing wrong with needing support. I want us to be friends. That's important to me. You're important to me." Lucas replied.
Once they all finished breakfast. Brooke dropped the boys off at school. Then her and Lucas headed to the park.
Brooke had her sketch pad needing to design and clear her head. Lucas was brain storming new book ideas.
"I don't do well being vulnerable and open about my thoughts or feelings. I make it a point to feel as little as possible. It takes too much out of me otherwise." Brooke admitted.
He stopped typing and looked to her "I feel too much. That can have positive and negative side effects."
"My therapist would say you choosing to be emotionally un available is a form of self preservation." Lucas replied.
"I've never been in love. Or had a real relationship. Running away from my life has kept me from experiencing alot. And oi regret that." Brooke confessed.
