Reflected Back At You

Chapter 13

You put me on a shelf

And kept me for yourself

I can only blame myself.

Brooke got to her car. Feeling her legs shaking as she felt a hand go on her shoulder.

She instantly stepped back. And glared hard.

"Don't touch me!" Brooke yelled.

"I just wanted to bring you you're drink." Xzavier replied.

Brooke's eyes went wide. She was stunned at his innocent act.

"Bullshit! You know me! What you did to my parents destroyed my life! And yet here you stand. Free to move on and forget. While i spend the rest of my life stuck and unable to let go!"

"How dare you come back here to this town! My home!" Brooke yelled.

"You weren't supposed to be home. I had a job to do. What would a pampered princess like you know about needing money.?" Xzavier questioned.

Brooke turned and knocked the cup of hot tea all over him. Before she got into her car and drove away.

Lucas finished needed drafts and was currently looking over suggestions given to him by his editor.

He was suddenly distracted by his frantic knocking at his office door.

He sighed deeply. Placed down the papers and went to answer the door.

"Brooke. What's wrong.?" Lucas asked. Seeing right away that she was clearly upset.

"You're busy. You have deadlines. I shouldn't of come." Brooke quickly replied.

He moved to the side and watched as she entered. He then locked the office door.

"You can always talk to me. What is going on Brooke.?" Lucas questioned. Wanting more then anything for her to open up to him.

"I saw him. The man who murdered my parents. I had known he was getting out for some time. But seeing him working at you're mother's cafe."

"I got out of there as soon as i could. He called what he did a job."

"I know i should of told you a long time ago. It was just. I." Brooke said.

Her voice cracking as she began to cry.

He engulfed her in a hug.

Brooke clung to him.

"I've got you." Lucas reassured her. When they eventually pulled apart.

"I can make sure he leaves you alone. You shouldn't have to be on edge going out. He won't be a threat to you or our sons. I promise you that. I'll do whatever i can to make sure you feel safe." Lucas stated matter of fact.

"The last thing me and our boys need is you getting in trouble with law because of that bastard. From what i can see. He just wants to move on. And i refuse to let his presence change our life in any way. But thank you." Brooke replied.
