Reflected Back At You
Chapter 34
Awhile Later
While Brooke spent her lunch break at the mall. Enjoying the food court and looking into various baby clothing stores.
Lucas got take out ate in his car and waited until he saw Victoria and Ted's cars get parked in their driveway.
Once the couple had entered the home he gave it 10 to 15 minutes. He didn't want them to get comfortable in their routine.
Lucas got out of his car crossed the street. Walked up the stairs and knocked hard on the front door.
A strong insistent knocking that made it clear. He wasn't going anywhere.
When the door soon opened in front of him. He was met with the couple face to face.
He saw his wife in both of them but especially in Victoria.
"She sent you to fight her battles for her.? As we expected. She was never strong enough to handle things herself." Ted stated.
Lucas gave him a hardened look. "If you anything about Brooke. You would know she doesn't need anyone to come to her rescue. She's strong. Capable. Independent. She made a life for herself and our sons at 18."
"I'm in awe of her for that and everything she's done since. I'm here because Brooke deserves answers. Since she's dealing with enough already. I decided to take on the both of you myself."
"You know what you did. Why did you do it.?" Lucas questioned.
"I'm just going to lay it out for you Lucas. The business dealings my wife and I are involved with is no business of yours. Brooke never lacked in a damn thing. We made sure of that." Ted Davis exclaimed.
"It really is a shame. What happened to you're mother. I would hate for you to lose anyone else you care about. I think my husband was very clear. Our daughter won't know you came here as long as you stop digging and go on about you're life." Victoria threatened.
Lucas stared at the woman right in the eyes.
"You threatening my family won't end up for you. Brooke and our sons are everything to me. They are all i have. I'm a Scott. We don't sit on the sidelines when it comes to the people we love." Lucas replied. Turning as he left the home.
...
Weeks Later
At 16 weeks. You're the size of a avocado. Because of you growing and changing so much right now. You're daddy gives me massages to help with the pain in my back. Pregnancy brain is in full force at the moment.
I forgot to make you're brothers lunches. I am late with deadlines for my fashion line. I put salt in the pancakes and had to make a new batch.
Head aches are happening more often. We are getting testing done for you. Which checks for issues involving brain and spine.
I have to avoid activities that could cause me to fall. And the fun part this week has been starting a list of baby names. Boy and girl.
You're brothers had their own list made up.
Until next time little one.
Brooke couldn't help but smile as she finished her latest journal entry.
Talking to the baby at this stage is important. It helps with bonding. Along with narrate your activities, read out loud, or share your secret wishes for your child. Writing a letter to your baby is also a special way to connect.
Bailey and Barney made it a point to talk to her belly everyday now when they got home from school.
While Lucas had begun reading bed time stories to the baby. A new one every night.
Brooke's heart felt at times as if it would burst. She felt so happy settled and safe.
