Reflected Back At You

Chapter 36

Days Later

The annual movie night at Tric was taking place tonight. Which is why Bailey and Barney weren't going to have dinner with their parents as they normally did. Instead they were going to the event and having dinner with their friends. At one of the local resturants in town.

According to the flyer that hung in both their bedrooms and the one on the fridge. The movie night was from 6pm to 11pm. But they are supposed to be home by 10.

"Mom everyone else is staying until 11. We can't be the only ones who leave early. That's not fair!" Barney conplained as he entered the entryway of the home.

Bailey had come in right after them. Dropping off their bookbags.

Brooke gave her son a stern look. "I don't care what those other parents allow their children to do. You're father and I have these rules in place to protect you and to remind you that everywhere you go in the world you are expected to follow rules." She explained.

"But mom you're supposed to be the fun one. Dad is the serious. Go by the rules one." Bailey added in.

"You're dad and I are agreement on this. If the two of you don't stop with the conplaints you won't go at all." Brooke instructed.

They rushed upstairs and entered their bedrooms with a loud slam of the front door.

Brooke took a deep breath. Placing her hand on her now 24 week baby bump.

She was keeping track of how she felt. As closely as possible. unusual discharge, vaginal bleeding, abdominal cramping, pelvic pressure, low back pain, or leaking fluid.

Were all signs of early labor. Brooke was only in her 6th month of pregnancy. She didn't want to think about giving birth now.

Brooke was in full nesting mode. organizing, cleaning, and preparing Serenity's nursery and closet.

Some clothes Brooke created. The others she bought.

In the living room besides their wedding photo and various snapshots of the boys last birthday party.

Were two photos. One was all of them together. The second was with just her and Lucas.

The pregnancy photoshoot was such an adventure.

Brooke felt comforted feeling Serenity's kicks.

"Please be more like you're dad. You're brothers become more like me by the day."

"I cannot wait to meet you. I hope you know that." Brooke said.

"I picked up you're latest food craving. And i'm never not in the mood for dessert. We can eat by the fireplace. How does that sound.?" Lucas asked. As he placed down the take out food bag.

"Amazing. Exactly what i need." "I've got to head out. Once i get back. It'll be a relaxing night in." Brooke replied.

Lucas leaned over kissed her.

Brooke kissed him back.

Lucas's hands found their way onto her body. And he couldn't help but be fascinated by how she was changing.

"We've got to go. We're getting a ride over to Tric. And we'll walk back." Barney explained.

As Bailey and him came down the stairs.

"I will be calling and texting the both of you to make sure we are on the same page about when you leave." Lucas said.

"Where is my hug and kiss goodbye.?" Brooke asked. Looking to her sons.

"Momma we don't that anymore. We're not babies. We're 13." Bailey replied.

Brooke smiled to hide her disappointment.

"I love you." Brooke proclaimed.

Watching as they left the home.

Brooke was soon leaving as well. Lucas watched from the window as she pulled out of the driveway.
