Author's Note: This chapter contains Attempted Rape
Prologue:
The tingling along my spine caused me to look around warily. Something new had been introduced to the apartment, something electronic.
Letting the feeling guide me, I found, to my horror, a microphone. One of many, I realized, as I found them, one by one.
The last thing the feeling led me to was... a camera.
I shuddered, calling Captain Bailey, who said he'd have an officer here within the hour.
Said officer, once he'd gotten here, immediately dismissed me and said it wasn't a cause for alarm. It didn't take a rocket scientist to realize why he was writing me off.
He was a turian, and there happened to be quite a few in C-Sec that hated humans.
I held my tongue, nodding along, handing over the bugs when he asked before he left.
The second time it happened, a little over a month later, I went directly to Bailey's office.
It was also the third time that I'd received a manilla envelope with pictures of me inside. While I was out and about. Through my windows, the cracks in the curtains.
He, at least, took me seriously, telling me he'd figure something out.
The next day, he and another human man paid me a visit.
The second man was another officer, and he would be staying in my guest room. Keeping an eye on me, protecting me, until Bailey could investigate more thoroughly and get a handle on the situation.
I agreed that it was for the best, letting the man know he was free to use the apartment as he wanted, save for my room.
Three weeks passed, where he spent the majority of his time watching tv in the living room. I shifted from doing my classes in that room to my bedroom. Less noise.
Then, in the middle of the night two nights ago, he came to me. Confessed his love for me.
I was defenseless, without a weapon. Taking a deep breath, I climbed out of bed, revealing my body to him since I sleep without clothing, and approached where he stood.
He opened his arms for me, and I stepped closer, within reach. As his eyes perused my form, letting his guard down, I reared back and headbutted him. Ran to the bathroom and locked myself in.
I could hear him pounding on the other side of the door, yelling for me to open up and let him in. That he loved me and would never hurt me, and if I just gave him a chance, I'd fall for him, too.
I don't know how long passed, before I heard a different voice calling out to me.
"Andromeda, open the door. You're safe. It's okay." Bailey said from the other side, soothing my fear.
Slowly, I unlocked it, opening it. Looking around.
Bailey stood there, two other officers holding the man up between them, handcuffs on his wrists binding his hands together.
I looked to the Captain, unsure where to go from here.
"I'll get a different officer here, just give me time to find one that..." He trailed off, eyes moving to the man as he was hauled out. "that's better. I'm sorry this happened."
"It's not your fault." I murmured, shaking my head.
A hand rested on my shoulder, and I looked back at him.
"We're going to figure this out."
"Thank you."
"Will you be okay here on your own for the rest of the night? I'll check in on you personally tomorrow."
"Yeah." I nodded quickly. "I'll be okay."
The next day, he came over and told me that he'd found someone to place here, that they were just juggling the man's schedule, finding people to cover what he was supposed to be doing.
"Are you sure you'd prefer a man?" He'd asked, for the third time, just before he'd left.
"If it's a man that's doing these things, then yes. I'd prefer a male officer. I'd feel better that way."
He'd nodded, pausing to stare at me a moment, before the door closed behind him, and I was alone.
He'd bring the new officer over tomorrow.
