After Murphy used the bathroom. He felt better and Brave Heart Lion was making sure he was alright the whole time. That's when Murphy, Cheer Bear, Champ Bear, Tenderheart Bear, Brave Heart Lion and Lotsa Heart Elephant and Grumpy Bear were the ones to head out as they rode onto the Rainbow Roller cars while Cheer Bear and Brave Heart Lion were in the Rainbow Roller car that Murphy was in.
Murphy would direct the way towards Edward Summers Memorial Hospital as he would direct them where to go as he remembered where to go. But when he would see how high up they were in the sky. He would at times realize how high they are and avoided looking down. Cheer Bear would notice that the heights might be scaring him or making him nervous.
That's when Cheer Bear would take hold of Murphy's hand to comfort him or to reassure him that he was safe with them. When ever Cheer Bear would take hold of Murphy's hand, they'd notice and Murphy would blush and look away as if trying to hide his shyness once again from how Cheer Bear would show him comfort or affection.
"Murphy, it's alright. A lot of people are afraid of heights. It's nothing to be ashamed of." reassured Cheer Bear. "Besides, your buckled in."
"I'm not afraid of heights." Murphy stated.
He looked down and saw the hospital that they were suppose to locate and he pointed it out. But than he held onto Cheer Bear as if afraid of falling from a high height. Cheer Bear noticed and she held him closely to her in a hug. Patting his back lightly as a sign of reassurance.
"It helps to hang onto something." said Murphy with a slight change of expression.
They began to fly back down onto the ground as Murphy pointed out where they should park the Rainbow Roller cars. They landed onto the ground in the parking lot that way in front of the now abandoned hospital. There was a sign near the building that looked as though it needed a good cleaning but it read "Edward Summers Memorial Hospital" the building itself looked like it was abandoned for over thirty years.
They got out of the vehicles and stood in front of the building itself. Cheer Bear and Murphy just realized they were still holding hands but released their hands from each other after Murphy tried not to look so awkward.
"We're here." said Grumpy Bear. "Murphy, can you remember anything about this place?"
"Edward Summers Memorial Hospital. Edward Summers was a doctor who saved a lot of lives during the second world war and five years after the war ended. He died of natural causes but they made this hospital in honor of him. Edward Summers was born in 1910, May the 7th. The hospital became mysteriously abandoned 1987 and has been rumored to be haunted and they moved the business to another building." Murphy explained.
They listened to him and knew that he remembered why the hospital was built and who it was in honor of. Murphy was starting to remember something about the building.
"You remember why we're here? Anything else you remember about this place?" asked Lotsa Heart Elephant.
"Looking for something here. Some kind of record that could explain something to me. Something I need to know." said Murphy as he wasn't very specific. "It could be in the history records room."
Murphy was the first to walked forwards but than he stopped. Brave Heart Lion came to his side and he saw that there was a hint of hesitancy on his face, he would try to walk another step forwards but he would stop himself when he tried to take another step forwards. They could tell he was afraid.
"You okay, Murphy?" asked Brave Heart Lion curiously.
Murphy didn't say a word to respond. Cheer Bear, Champ Bear, Tenderheart Bear, Brave Heart Lion and Lotsa Heart Elephant and Grumpy Bear looked at the boy with worry. They could tell he was afraid.
"Are you afraid?" asked Champ Bear.
"I don't know if I wanna go in there. I know we're here for a reason but I don't know if I can do this." said Murphy showing a hint of fear.
"Your not going in there alone, sports fan. We'll be going in there with you, so it's not going to be as scary as you think." said Champ Bear with a word of comfort.
"Everything will be alright, Murphy. And that's the truth." said Lotsa Heart Elephant.
Brave Heart Lion took hold of Murphy's right hand as a sign of reassurance. Holding Murphy's hand while trying to comfort him was Brave Heart Lion's attempt to show some paternal consolation which the boy gently grasped his hand with his soft and warm paw. Murphy breathed a sigh of relief.
"You know, sometimes I was afraid of the dark but I later learned that there's nothing about the dark to be afraid of." reassured Brave Heart Lion.
"Okay, but no one goes off alone. I'd heavily advise us splitting up in there because when ever a place is abandoned for too long. Some teenagers trek in and vandalize the place." advised Murphy as he relented. "Damn teenagers should have someone scare the shit out of them."
Murphy was wide eyed for a moment and slapped his hands to his mouth. The little bear friends of his looked at him wide eyed as they just heard Murphy drop two swear words. Murphy realized he shouldn't have uttered those words.
"Did you just." Tenderheart Bear began.
Murphy nodded twice in response than removed his hands from his mouth.
"I apologize." said Murphy sadly.
"It's alright, Murphy. Just try to avoid those words." advised Brave Heart Lion kindly.
He nodded once in response. They walked to the front door of the building but since the doors were equipped with electronic locks. They knew they had very little options on how to enter the building. Murphy grabbed hold of one of the doors and tried to open it. The building probably had no power and he pulled the doors apart as best he could but it wasn't working.
"Maybe we could find another way in?" suggested Grumpy Bear. "The doors always have trouble opening up when ever we're involved."
Murphy ignored him and let out a powerful scream as he summoned all of his strength and with a powerful pull was when he forced the electronic doors open, making them pull apart as the doors opened for them to walk in. They were surprised at how powerfully strong Murphy appeared to be.
"Wow! That's one strong kid." said Champ Bear appearing impressed.
"Let's move on. Stay close." said Murphy walking inside.
They've all entered the building and inside the building didn't look much better than the outside. There was empty food wrappers littered in parts of the floor, empty soda cans in trash cans that looked like they could've fit anything else in there, they were lucky the building had plenty of windows to give them a source of light because anywhere that had light bulbs were looking like they were dimly lit but blinking as if they were on their last legs or on their last bit of power.
"Anyone brought a light?" asked Murphy.
That was when Cheer Bear, Champ Bear, Tenderheart Bear, Brave Heart Lion and Lotsa Heart Elephant and Grumpy Bear pulled out a flashlight and pushed the buttons to turn them on, providing them with a better source of light as their flashlights had a bright shine to them like an LED lighting.
"I think I know where the room is that we're looking for." said Murphy.
They walked onwards while Murphy kept close to them and led the way. They'd turned down one hallway and another. Passing by plenty of rooms but none of them were the room that Murphy was looking for.
"I wonder why this place is abandoned?" asked Cheer Bear curiously. "This place doesn't look haunted."
"I remember hearing a doctor saying something about after the last patient they had here passed on from succumbing to his injuries he sustained in an accident that something very weird started happening as they started to see that something had spooked the patients, the doctors and staff that they thought this place was being haunted by a dangerous poltergeist. Business began to suffer but they figured it was better to move the business to another building. But they got spooked away from this place that they left some stuff behind." explained Murphy. "That's at least what one of the doctor's stated."
"How do you know that?" asked Tenderheart Bear.
"Saw the doctor being interviewed on the news." answered Murphy.
"And where's this doctor now?" asked Brave Heart Lion.
"Beats me." answered Murphy.
They would've spoken more but they heard something that sounded like a loud cracking sound as if someone stepped on a large egg shell. They stopped as Murphy signaled them to be silent as he kept a hand raised into the air. They waited for the sound to be heard again but only heard small little tapping sounds from nearby.
Murphy's ears were starting to listen in on the sounds around them like having the sense of hearing that of a bat. He pointed forwards and silently mouthed "There" and that's when Grumpy shined his flashlight in the direction he pointed and that's when they saw a small brown furred animal that was only a squirrel, it instantly saw them and ran off into the opposite direction. They all let out a sigh of relief.
"It's only a squirrel." said Champ Bear relieved.
"I think we found where we need to be." said Murphy pointing in another direction.
They turned to see an entrance with no doors that had a sign above the entrance that read "Hospital Library" which they walked inside and saw that if there was anything on the shelves in the library. Half of them were missing anything that needed to be there, some shelves were empty, any books or records that were on the shelves looked like they had some mysterious sticky liquids on them that looked disgusting from the looks of them.
"We need to look for the history section." said Murphy.
"Uhhh Murphy, hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is a big place. We might be able to cover more ground in here if we split up into teams." suggested Cheer Bear.
"I'd rather not." Murphy declined.
"We're not saying any of us should go alone. We just think we'd find what we're looking for faster if we split up into teams. You can trust us on this." reassured Brave Heart Lion. "If anything goes wrong. Than we'll meet outside."
Murphy didn't like the idea of them splitting up to cover more ground but he knew they had no other choice.
"Alright than. Keep your flashlights on you." said Murphy giving in.
They split up into teams but since there was seven of them. Champ Bear and Grumpy Bear went off towards the left, Tenderheart Bear and Lotsa Heart Elephant went towards the right, and Murphy, Cheer Bear and Brave Heart Lion went off towards a different direction.
As they searched for the history section of the hospital library. Cheer Bear, Brave Heart Lion and Murphy were keeping on their toes. They looked at the sections that they've passed by which there was the sections that read the letters they were seeing as E, F, but they continued.
"Looking for the H for history." said Murphy under his breath.
They finally found the H for history but once they stopped where they wanted to be. To their unfortunate bad luck, the shelves were empty as a gas tank with no fuel. The shelves were empty and nothing was there.
"There's nothing here? I really wish I could swear right now." said Murphy looking annoyed.
"It's alright Murphy. What you're looking for might be somewhere else in this building." said Cheer Bear. "Is there any other places or anything else you remember about this place?"
Murphy took a moment to think as he was thinking of where else could it be till he just felt an idea come to him. He was showing a hint of realization as his face was still mostly stoic and emotionless. His mind was like a library itself.
"I know where it's at." said Murphy struck with an idea.
Before another word was said out loud. Murphy scooped up Cheer Bear and Brave Heart Lion into his arms and carried them into his arms as he stormed off into the opposite direction. They had no idea what was on Murphy's mind at this point but they were surprised at how strong he is since he was able to lift them both up off the floor with ease.
"Where are we going?" asked Brave Heart Lion.
"Have you been hitting the gym, Murphy?" said an impressed Cheer Bear.
"I used to to hit the gym frequently." answered Murphy.
He managed to stop and he was in front of a door. He carefully set the two back on their feet to the floor. Once he stood up straight. They saw the door they were in front of. There was a sign above the door that read "Hidden Historical Files" he approached the door, reached for the door knob and took hold of it but as he tried to open the door, it wouldn't open. The door knob wouldn't budge but it barely jiggled. Murphy groaned and pressed his back against the door, sliding down to sit on the floor.
"It's locked." said Murphy shaking his head.
"Maybe we could find the keys." Cheer Bear suggested.
"It won't do us any good. I remembered that during that news event when they interviewed the doctor. He told them what was left behind and the keys to all the doors wasn't one of them." said Murphy looking disappointed. "It's like what they say about having a spare key on you. The spare key is like a spare tire to your car. You'd rather have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it."
"Maybe there's another way in." said Brave Heart Lion.
"If you have any other ideas in mind or if you have a lock pick on you. Than be my guest." said Murphy expressing doubt.
That's when they tried to think of another idea but than Cheer Bear turned and saw what looked like a vent that was next to the door. It appeared to be big enough for a small child to fit through it and it appeared to lead into the room they needed to get into. Cheer Bear didn't like the idea of what she was thinking of suggesting but she knew if there was any other way of getting into the room. She would go for it but this was the only option.
"Murphy, I have an idea. I know you don't want to but maybe you could crawl your way into the room?" Cheer Bear suggested.
She pointed to the ventilation shaft she saw and as they turned to see it. Murphy knew what she was suggesting and immediately felt his heart nearly drop from the idea. He turned to Cheer Bear in disbelief.
"Please tell me your joking." said Murphy hopefully.
"I know you don't want to but it's the only way in. Even I don't like the idea but the ventilation shaft appears to be big enough for you to fit through." Cheer Bear said trying to appear consoling.
She approached him and placed her paw like hand over Murphy's heart and shown a reassuring smile to him. A sign of fear was showing on Murphy's face as he shook his head.
"Are you sure this is a good idea Cheer Bear?" said Brave Heart Lion looking unsure.
"I would agree with you but I don't think there's any other way and there's no key to the door. I doubt that we could break it open. Murphy, I know it's scary but we're not going to let anything bad happen to you." said Cheer Bear with a word of comfort. "I think I know how to help you overcome your fear."
"And what are you suggesting to mmpphhhh." said Murphy getting cut off.
Brave Heart Lion looked on in surprise when he saw Cheer Bear plant her soft lips to Murphy's lips in a kiss. To Murphy, this was his first kiss in his life and he closed his eyes as he was given his first kiss. Cheer Bear was kissing him in order to show comfort but also to give him a boost in his confidence and erase his fear. She pulled her lips off him in a loud pop and left Murphy blushing deeply.
"I'll need a screwdriver." said Murphy crawling over to the ventilation shaft.
As Murphy made to the ventilation shaft. Brave Heart Lion remembered to bring a few tools with him as he given Murphy a screwdriver. He used the tool to unscrew the screws to the vent. There was only four of them. He pulled it off and looked through it, he saw it was big and wide enough for him to crawl through.
"Wish me luck, guys." said Murphy.
Without hesitation. He crawled through the vent and he was taking some time to reach the other side. Luckily for him, he kept the screwdriver on him and unscrewed the screws to the other ventilation shaft, removing it. Than he crawled through it and entered the room he was trying to get into. He got up on his feet and placed the tool in his pocket.
"I made it in!" called Murphy.
Murphy walked around in the room and it wasn't a very big room as it was having no more than several rows of shelves that had old clothing, old toys that probably were broken or in need of repair, old books that had been collecting dust, and it had another room that was nearby that probably led into an office. He walked down till he was in the middle of the row of shelves and stopped. He went down the aisle and looked to see there was various books on the shelves down the aisle he was in. He looked to his left and it wasn't till he saw something that caught his eye.
There, he saw what looked like a brown leather book that had the title "Information of the Demon's Rage" written on the book's spine in black permanent marker. He grabbed it the book from the shelf and he got what he came for.
"Maybe we'll find out what this thing is." said Murphy under his breath. "Hey guys, I got it!"
Before he could move on. He heard a laugh and it sounded like that same scary, eerie, clown like laugh that sounded like a madman whose snapped. His heart had an unpleasant jolt of fear when he turned and saw what looked like a pair of scary yellow eyes nearby and the shadow of what looked like a full grown adult. He let out a scream of horror as he ran from the figure and tried to open the door but he forgot it was locked both from the inside and outside.
"Help! Let me out! I want to get out!" screamed Murphy loudly in a state of panic. "The door won't open!"
"Murphy, what is it?" came Brave Heart Lion's voice.
"There's someone in here with the yellow eyes and that laugh! The door won't open!" cried Murphy.
"Go through the vent! It's the only way out!" advised Cheer Bear.
Murphy managed to listen to them and ran to the vent. He heard the scary laugh getting closer as he slid the book through the vent to the other side. He got onto the floor and quickly crawled through the vent as he was crawling as fast as he could as he could see Cheer Bear and Brave Heart Lion's feet at the over side and he made it but he got stuck when he was half way out of the exit of the vent.
"I'm stuck. Pull me out!" cried Murphy.
The two bears grabbed hold of his hands and tried to pull him out but he wasn't budging. He was stuck but he was panicking to the point of tears. That's when Champ Bear, Tenderheart Bear, Lotsa Heart Elephant and Grumpy Bear came around and saw the situation that was going on. That's when they managed to see Brave Heart Lion and Cheer Bear finally pull Murphy out from the vent when they adjusted the belt he wore and pulled him out. The others rushed over to the now panic stricken, tearful Murphy who had an expression of fright on his face. Cheer Bear and Brave Heart Lion were hugging him to console him of his fear induced state.
"What happened?" asked Lotsa Heart Elephant.
They heard the laughter again but this time is was so close that it was like they were right next to the source. They looked towards the ventilation shaft's entrance and that's when Murphy backed away by crawling away from the vent as the laughter came through the vent and a dark shadow came out of it.
"What's going on?" cried Champ Bear.
That's when they saw the shadow appear like black smoke but than it was forming into the shape of a body. They all saw it form into what looked like a six foot tall figure that wore nothing but black and had a black hood over it's head. The only part of it's body that was visible was it's hands which they had sharp looking claws and the skin was so pale that it looked like there was no blood in the body.
"Whose that?" said the bears in shocked unison.
The tall figure laughed but this time, it's laugh sounded high, cold and raspy while it spoke in a Russian accented male's voice.
"Come to me." spoke the figure.
The figure ran over to Murphy at such a fast speed that he was at a good nine feet away from him but now reached him in half a second and grabbed Murphy by the front of his shirt, lifted him up off the floor and held him up high into the air as he struggled to break free to no avail. The look of fear on the boy's face had the magical bears begin to step in and attempt to stop this figure.
"Put him down and leave him alone!" cried Cheer Bear.
The figure turned to see the bears and they all lined up and they faced him as they got ready to attack.
"Care Bears count down. Five, four, three, two, one." cried Tenderheart Bear.
Brave Heart Lion cried out the word "Stare" as a bright, glittery white light shot from their belly badges that looked like a series of hearts and stars blasting through the beams and their beams hit the tall figure and it let out a loud, demonic shriek of agony. It let go of Murphy as he landed on the floor, he was looking on in shock at what he saw happening.
The tall figure suddenly disappeared in a puff of black smoke which meant it was gone but they heard the figure say in an old, raspy male's voice "He can't run forever" and uttered a high, cold, raspy laugh. As the tall figure disappeared. The Care Bears saw that Murphy and the rest of them are safe for now but they rushed over to the frightened Murphy, wrapping their arms around him in a hug to try and console him. He immediately hidden his face in Cheer Bear's embrace as if trying to hide his feared stricken face from everyone.
"Murphy, was that the person you told us was following you?" asked Cheer Bear sounding frantic.
Murphy slowly nodded once to respond. He began to say "Stay out of the dark" over and over a few times which they knew that who or what they saw attack him is the person or thing that has been following him for reasons unknown.
"Murphy, look at me." instructed Cheer Bear.
He immediately obeyed and looked up at Cheer Bear who shown him a reassuring face with a comforting grin.
"We're not going to let that person hurt you. Everything will be fine. We're right here and we're going to keep you safe from harm." said Cheer Bear with a word of comfort.
"Did he find what he's looking for?" asked Tenderheart Bear curiously.
Brave Heart Lion shown them the book that he found and they immediately got their answer.
"Can we go? I want to get out of here and create as much distance from me and that monster as much as possible." asked Murphy hopefully.
They nodded but without warning. They saw Cheer Bear kiss Murphy on his cheeks and forehead out of emotional comfort which left the boy blushing again. Murphy got up on his feet and began to hiccup a few times.
"I'm ready to -hic- go." said Murphy his voice sounding sheepish.
He walked out of the room and headed outside while the Care Bears followed him. Brave Heart Lion was the first to see Cheer Bear kiss Murphy on the lips but the rest of them saw Cheer Bear kiss him just now. They immediately suspected it was to comfort Murphy of his fears but Murphy tried not to smile from being kissed by Cheer Bear. His heart raced and it was possible that he might like Cheer Bear. But what was on the magical little bears minds was who or what was that tall figure they saw that attacked Murphy.
