We've seen how one moment, one choice, can create new stories. But what if the choice would come at the most dire of times? Well, this is part of the story I'm about to tell you…

Chapter 1 - Vinny Makes a New Friend

This story began not too long ago in Providence. A young orphaned Basque Shepherd puppy who was born in a junkyard, and who lost her older sisters and mother recently, was left wandering the streets.

Eventually, she passed out. A car came in moments later, stopping near her.

"Well, well, well," James Woods' voice got the puppy's attention, waking her up. "What do we have here?"

He walked to the barely-alive puppy and picked her up.

"You'll be one of the greatest fighters in the dog fights I'm organizing," he continued.

However, when he was about to put her into his car, he felt an agonizing pain in his ankle, He looked down, and saw a tan puppy with cream white from its nose downward, and it wore a black collar. It growled when biting James' legs.

"Get off of me, you stupid mutt!" James shouted.

"Mutt?!" the puppy repeated in a voice that sounded like Ash Ketchum as if he were raised in Brooklyn. "You let go of her, you bad man!"

James did as best as he could to ward off the tan puppy. But try as he might, he couldn't succeed. James retreated back into his car and fled as fast as he could.

The tan puppy looked at the Basque Shepherd puppy, and offered a paw.

"Are you okay?"

The Basque Shepherd puppy looked up. "Are you going to hurt me?"

"No," the tan puppy replied. "In fact, I'm here to give you a good home. My owner, Leo, lives in a tiny apartment, and he has me to keep him company."

"You mean," the Basque Shepherd puppy began, "I get to live with you?"

"Of course," the tan puppy replied, "if Leo allows it. The name's Vinny."

Pause.

"Barbara," the Basque Shepherd puppy introduced.

"Nice to meet you, Barbara," Vinny replied. "So, where are you from?"

"A junkyard," Barbara replied back, bowing her head. "I lost my mother and sisters recently."

"Oh," Vinny understood. "Sorry to hear that. But I'm sure that after you begin living with me, you'll have a happier, better life."

And with that, Barbara followed Vinny, and started having feelings for him.

Without Vinny coming to Barbara's aide, the latter would have become one of the best fighters in the organization James Woods ran, and would have spent her childhood locked in a cage with about twenty other dogs, fighting to stay alive to earn her keep. In one universe, her title was taken away by a younger, stronger pit bull named Arnie, who did all he could to keep her down. James threw her out into the streets, where family dog Brian Griffin would find her, and eventually give her a home. Eventually, the two would wed, and start a family of their own. But in this universe, a young Vinny noticed James pick Barbara up, and sensed that he would abuse her. He wasn't about to let that happen. Without Barbara's title in the ring, James Woods lost his job, and went back to acting, but that's a completely different story. So, let's get back to Vinny and Barbara.
