Thank you all for following this story and all the great reviews just so glad you out there have enjoyed the ride
This is the final chapter in this tale but continues in Training Day or week.
Lucifer didn't flinch, fall or respond, the Devil just stood there.
Cassiel fought with her entire being, using every move and technique she had ever learned lashing out with solid punches and kicks, she could have sworn at one point though after clocking Lucifer with a devious reverse elbow to the face he had smirked at her and seemed amused, this just infuriated her further causing her attacks to become more wild and less precise,
"YOU WILL NEED TO DO BETTER THAN THAT!" Lucifer goaded Cassiel and laughed as she renewed her attack with vigour, "there you go, come on, END THE BIG BAD DEVIL!" He continued his mocking tone. Cassiel was determined to wipe that shit eating grin off of his face before she ended him however, the Devil just stood there.
Lucifer had a plan, granted it was not one of his favourites, being beaten to a bloody pulp was never fun but it seemed to work when he had somehow inadvertently pissed off Maze and she needed to blow off some steam, the only difference between that and this situation was that he could at least put up a bit of a pretence of a fight against Maze even though they both knew he was holding back! Regardless to Maze's skill and creativity, deep down even she knew that no demon could actually beat an angel, let alone even come close to beating an Archangel.
Cassiel was tiring as her swings were becoming more laboured, she was breathing hard, Lucifer knew this one sided fight was nearing its end. He needed to get through to his sister and needed to do it soon before she could flee, and he would have to go searching for her again probably have to face round 2 of being beat on and Lucifer was also rapidly becoming bored of being punched,
"WHAT ARE YOU?" Lucifer roared as he blocked the latest punch the force of which spun the young angel almost 180 degrees, Cassiel stumbled but remained on her feet,
"I AM THE WARRIOR ANGEL, CREATED BY THE LORD TO DESTROY SATAN!" Cassiel screamed back as so turned to face her adversary,
"BOLLOCKS AND NOT AT ALL SOUNDING ALL BRAIN-WASHED, SO I ASK AGAIN, WHAT…..ARE….YOU?" Lucifer was firm and deliberate with his wording,
"I AM THE WARRIOR ANGEL, CREATED BY THE LORD TO DESTROY SATAN!" Once again came her automatic response, it was programmed script, lacking any passion or real emotion, just words,
Swatting away an exhausted kick, Lucifer took a step forward, "THE HELL YOU ARE!" Lucifer took another step, closing the distance between the pair,
"I AM THE….." Cassiel was silenced as Lucifer shoved her to the ground, there was no fight left in her body all of her energy had been expended,
"IF OUR FATHER HAD SENT YOU TO FULLFILL THIS TASK, THEN ANSWER ME THIS DEAR SISTER. WHY…..HAVE….YOU…FAILED?" Lucifer towered over the downed angel, his face was set like granite,
"I…I…I." Cassiel stuttered, she had no answers, no immediate response tumbled from her lips, the Devil was right, she had failed, not just failed but had never stood a chance. Now laying on the ground, beaten and exhausted it seemed that her fate was sealed. "make it quick." Her voice was a mere whisper.
Lucifer took a long suffering sigh as he rolled his eyes, then he crouched down so he could meet her eyes, "If I wanted to end your life little one, you would be dead!" His voice was gentle but carried enough forcefulness to convey the truth behind his words,
"I don't understand, you should hate me, what I am, what I stand for, I am just so confused." Cassiel hung her head,
Lucifer lifted her chin so he could once again meet her eyes, "Who not what, are you?"
"I…I don't know!" Tears began streaming down her face,
"Good answer." Lucifer for the first time gave his sister a genuine smile, "then let me tell you little one, you are Cassiel, the last and youngest angel, created out of the love of our parents instead of, like the rest of us for a specific task or purpose, you are unique! In the short time you have been on earth, you have made friends and a wider family, filled with love and happiness, you hold a special place in each of our hearts, we need you to come home!"
"How can I brother?" Cassiel's tone sounded pleading and the for the first time her use of 'brother' wasn't laced with disgust, "I have caused so much damage."
"None of which is your fault and nothing what can't be repaired given time and it's not like we are short of time either!"
"I smashed all the windows in my room!"
"At least for once, I am not having to replace my piano or restock my bar so… you have caused less damage than when most of our family comes and pays me a visit!" Lucifer chuckled, causing a ghost of a smile from Cassiel, "I stabbed you, how can you forgive me?"
"Easy, you have terrible aim!"
"I'm serious Lucifer, how can you forgive me for trying to kill you?" Cassiel looked broken and miserable,
"Well for one, that wasn't you and two, the knife you used wasn't exactly Azrael's blade, so what do you think would have happened if you actually had succeeded in killing me hmmm?"
"You would have gone back to hell?" Cassiel guessed but wasn't totally sure,
"Yes and then what would have happened?" Lucifer had relaxed considerable, knowing that his strategy was working,
"You would have said a few bloody hells, cursed our father then, just come back to earth?" Cassiel queried,
"Exactly! No harm, no foul!"
"I'm not sure Ella or Chloe would have felt the same." Cassiel huffed,
"True but they are only human after all!" Lucifer was amused and it was infectious as Cassiel giggled,
"What about Maze?"
"Ah well, she would have kicked your arse!"
"Gee thanks brother."
"Well you did ask but thankfully it didn't come to that, so again I say, no harm, no foul."
"But how can you be so nonchalant about this?" Cassiel needed to know,
"Those truly responsible for this have or will be punished mark my words my deal little one, also this is not the first time some one has tried to send me back to hell, so can't even claim this to be all that original even though the instrument they used was!"
"But…"
"No buts! You are not to blame for any of this, no one who cares for you believes you are responsible. We are all waiting to welcome you home with open arms!"
"I should have fought harder, I should…." Cassiel was interrupted by her brother,
"Stop right there, there will be no victim blaming, and yes sister, you are the victim. Placing guilt upon yourself for any of this is absurd however, I as I have learned, one can't control their emotions, just understand them." Lucifer took a deep breath, "You are going to feel and experience things that logic suggest you shouldn't, but you will feel them anyway, nothing I can say will change that, but we are all here to help you move past them."
"Thank you brother." Her voice was small but sincere,
"Don't thank me yet, I fear this will be a long road for you, but I give you my word we will not give up on you." If Lucifer was going to say more he was stopped as he was suddenly hugged tightly, one which he did not flinch away from but embraced. As he held is sister he could feel her breathing slow and he embrace become softer, the young angel had fallen asleep in his arms,
"Oh bloody hell, looks like I will be carrying you home then!"
