Indeed, Flynn's father did the right thing by abandoning his f*-up family and working hard for Flynn to have a normal childhood.-Lucian Naruto

Yeah…Angel 07 is not the only reason his parents lied to him and never told him about their families. That's why David really did not like his father or Flynn being involved with him or dueling.

Chapter 35 Assassin's Blade

Keith gasped, grabbing his chest. He found himself back in the Shadow Realm. He jumped at the silhouette of Doomking looking down at him with disappointment. He jumped feeling his overwhelming presence. It was like he was the embodiment of death itself, an all powerful force he could help to face. He felt himself instinctively shaking in fear.

"You failed. If I had not pulled out your deck Kalki's deck would've gotten even more powerful. Gaining his parents cards will already provide a massive boost to his deck.", Doomking said as he held a deck in his hands.

"Why don't you just do it yourself then?!", Keith said exasperated after dying again.

Another spirit snarled angrily at him and Doomking put his hand in front of him stopping him.

"Trust me I wish I could. But, as long as Ryou's seal over me holds, I cannot leave this realm. If I could, Kalki would already be mine.", Doomking replied.

Keith felt himself shaking at the immeasurable power he felt coming off Doomking. He knew he could easily smite him in an instant. No matter how much power he gained from human souls he was nothing before Doomking, a true monster. Thankfully he found that Doomking was more forgiving and almost benevolent than most evil spirits.

"Maybe if it was you, but that Flynn kid is an absolute monster at dueling. He's already beaten over half of us.", Keith replied as he lowered his head.

"Did you say Flynn? He's alive?!", a younger voice questioned.

The voice came from a hooded figure who walked in standing by the side of the spirit that snarled at Keith.

"Who do you think Doomking has been trying to bodysnatch, genius?", Keith replied sarcastically.

The hooded man was quiet frowning at this.

"Does it have to be Flynn?", the hooded man asked.

"Yes. It cannot be anyone else. He is the one I need.", Doomking replied cryptically.

The hooded man clutched his chin contemplating. He seemed oddly bothered by this.

"Can I at least try talking to him first?", the hooded man asked.

In Mikado…

"Wait, so that's why Doomkaiser is your favorite card?!", Nanashi questioned, stunned at Flynn's story.

"Yes, I am forever th-", Flynn was saying, jumping when Keith's deck suddenly vanished from his fingers.

He checked hastily to make sure he still had his parents cards. He sighed in relief seeing he still had them.

"What the hell was that?!", Nanashi questioned.

"I don't know…", Flynn replied awkwardly.

He looked over his empty hand just as perplexed as to what happened. He'd never seen a deck just vanish like that.

"That doesn't usually happen when I beat a Death General.", Flynn said.

Suddenly he got a call on his gauntlet grabbing his attention.

"Flynn, Jonathan lost to Asuma! And Asuma is crazy strong now! Like 'you' strong!", Navarre said, hastily.

Flynn kept a straight face though he was definitely surprised. Nanashi was wide eyed hearing there was someone as strong as Flynn.

"Is Jonathan there with you? Is he hurt?", Flynn asked calmly.

"Yeah, he's with us though he wasn't as roughed up as Isabeau was by Kaga.", Navarre replied.

Flynn narrowed his eyes, just thinking about what Kaga did to Isabeau made his blood boil. Though he remained calm his fellows needed him to stay calm. His anger will only serve to fuel the darkness of the yami as Ys referred to it inside of him. He could not let that happen. If that thing consumed him…things would not be good for his fellows at all.

"I will be right there. I'll ask Jonathan for the details.", Flynn replied.

The two made their way to the barracks. On the way Flynn made an effort to conceal Nanashi to avoid the stares in his direction. He couldn't help Nanashi stuck out like a sore thumb with his punk look.

"Flynn! Nanashi…?", Jonathan questioned, when they two walked in.

Flynn explained everything with Nanashi to them and how he was the reincarnation of King Aquila. Navarre gaped in complete disbelief at this.

"That runt?", Navarre questioned, making Nanashi look annoyed.

"What are the chances…I suppose it must be fate. I mean four of us prentices in the same year are signers so it's not that crazy.", Jonathan replied.

"…That's fair…", Navarre replied, sweat dropping.

"So what are we doing with this squirt then?", Walter questioned.

"I'm going to train him. As the reincarnation of King Aquila and a signer he is important to the future of Mikado and Tokyo.", Flynn replied.

"You've got time for that? What about the tournament?", Walter questioned.

"Well, he can always learn from example.", Flynn said and Walter smirked.

He raised up his gauntlet excitedly at the prospect of a duel.

Later in Shinjuku…

"Are you trying to set a record, Nanashi?", Manabu said sarcastically as Nanashi looked annoyed.

He pouted indignantly as he grumbled.

"32 straight losses…", Asahi murmured, completely stunned.

"You're one to talk…", Nanashi replied as Asahi looked offended.

"Damn…you bored him to sleep…", Manabu said as Nanashi turned to Flynn.

He sweat dropped when he saw Flynn was fast asleep in his chair. This made Manabu burst into laughter and Nanashu blushed in embarrassment.

"At least at this rate Nanashi won't be going on the front lines for a while.", Boss thought.

"Is it even possible to beat Flynn? Like seriously how did Diabolos beat him?!", Asahi questioned.

"I dunno…", Nanashi huffed as he crossed his arms.

"Speaking of sleep you kids should get some soon.", Nikkari said.

They all slept in some rooms in Shinjuku. The adults were together, Asahi had her own and Flynn was with Nanashi. Nanashi looked through his deck while he sat criss crossed. He had piles of cards laid out. He grumbled in exasperation, thoroughly annoyed. He had tried so many different combinations against Flynn just to lose each time.

"If only I had stronger cards…", Nanashi thought.

He laid his head against the walls starting to fall asleep despite his best efforts. As he did from outside a mysterious shadow approached the door.

In Nanashi's dreams…

He found himself in a strange dark realm. He looked around confused at where he was. He jumped when he saw two massive glowing gold eyes from behind a cage. The figure was cloaked in shadow, but he could tell it was kaiju sized.

"Boy, do ye desire great power? Do ye have the courage to unlock that power?", the figure questioned his voice booming and powerful.

Nanashi backed away knowing very well how shady deals with spirits could be.

"How about no…", Nanashi said, awkwardly sweat dropping.

"Don't ye want to be as strong as Flynn? Ye can't protect him in yer state.", the voice replied.

"What are you talking about, asshole?", Nanashi questioned.

He could see the spirit smirk from the shadows. It sent chills down his spine. The very presence of the spirit felt eerie. He felt like it could easily just annihilate him and everything if it wished to.

"Ye heard about Doomking and the fact he wants Flynn's bod. I wonder what a pathetic welp like yerself will do when he takes him.", the spirit taunted.

"That won't happen! How do you know that anyway?!", Nanashi questioned in annoyance, though alarmed.

"Of course I know. I know who he is. Doomking has always been after him. And it's only a matter of time till he does. Flynn can't keep winning forever.", the spirit replied.

"Who the hell are you anyway?", Nanashi questioned.

"I'm the Supreme King Dragon.", the spirit replied.

"What do you want with someone like me anyway? I can't exactly imagine you'd just hand out power for free.", Nanashi questioned.

"Yer a smart one I'll give ye that. Yer have every right to be skeptical. Like Flynn I know who ye are so I think ye have potential. What I want is to defeat G.O.D. and wipe out all spirits.", the supreme king dragon explained.

"Why do you want to do that? Doesn't that include you too?", Nanashi questioned.

"Yes, it does. I'm a god of destruction, but I've been sealed because of that bastard G.O.D. and unable to fulfill my role because of it. So I have lots of spirits to kill.", the supreme king dragon replied.

"A god of destruction, huh? That doesn't sound villainous at all…", Nanashi replied sarcastically.

"There cannot be creation without destruction. Reality itself has been thrown way out of balance because people don't like that. All it's done is cause more suffering. It's on full display in this dimension.", the supreme king dragon replied.

"Why should I believe you're not just some supervillain trying to trick me?", Nanashi questioned as he crossed his arms.

"Odd-Eyes.", the supreme king dragon said making Nanashi look confused.

Suddenly the red dragon appeared beside Nanashi look surprised.

"Daddy?!", Odd-Eyes said, completely shocked.

"He's your dad?! Wait…are you really Odd-Eyes or an illusion?", Nanashi questioned.

"What you think I'm fake?! Well you wet the bed till you were 1-", Odd-Eyes was saying before Nanashi waved his hands.

"Alright you're real. What does your dad want with me?", Nanashi questioned.

"I dunno. You're connected to sister so maybe he wanted to say hi?", Odd-Eyes replied cluelessly.

"Your dad's not a supervillain, right?", Nanashi asked.

"Well…he can be a bit scary, but I don't think he's evil if that's what you mean.", Odd-Eyes replied.

"Do you think I can trust him?", Nanashi questioned.

"Of course! He wouldn't hurt a human we like!", Odd-Eyes replied.

Nanashi frowned facing the massive dragon.

"Ye still seem skeptical. How about I give you a taste of my power? Then he can come to a decision later?", the supreme king dragon replied.

"Fine…you better not be pulling anything, spirit. The only reason I'm not dipping is because Odd-Eyes vouched for you.", Nanashi replied.

The dragon put his massive hand through the bars and a strange orb of light was within it.

"Here's a demo of the power of the Supreme King Dragon, Z-ARC.", the supreme king dragon said.

He suddenly woke up as a shadow neared Flynn.

"Hey, you!", Nanashi called out jumping in front of the shadow.

The shadow was revealed to be the masked girl.

"It seems I've been spotted. Changing strategy…I must eliminate the witness first.", the masked girl said as Nanashi raised up his duel disk challengingly.

Nanashi noticed he suddenly had a strange green and silver pendulum necklace around his neck. He also had a new card he didn't recognize in his hand.

"Woah…he wasn't kidding.", Nanashi thought.

"If you want to hurt Flynn you'll have to go through me!", Nanashi said.

"That can be arranged.", the masked girl replied as she raised her Ring of Gaea duel disk.

Nanashi LP 4000

Toki LP 4000

"I draw…", Toki said.

Toki

Hand: 6

"I summon Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo.", Toki said.

Toki

Hand: 5

Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo

(WARRIOR/DARK/EFFECT/ATK 1800/DEF 1000/LV4)

Effect: When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 "Ninjitsu Art" card from your Deck to your hand. When this card is Flip or Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Ninja" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo".

"When it's normal summoned I can add a Ninjitsu Art to my hand. I will add Ninjitsu Art of Transformation.", Toki said.

Toki

Hand: 6

Ninjitsu Art of Super-Transformation

(Continuous Trap)

Effect: Activate this card by targeting 1 "Ninja" monster you control and 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; send them to the GY, then Special Summon 1 Dragon, Dinosaur, or Sea Serpent monster from your Deck whose Level is less than or equal to the combined original Levels of the sent monster(s). When this card leaves the field, banish that monster.

"Then, I will set two cards.", Toki said.

Toki

Hand: 4

Nanashi watched what cards she set closely.

"Let's go! I draw!", Nanashi said.

Nanashi

Hand: 6

Toki tensed as she saw the strange pendulum. It was not something Nanashi had on him previously. She could swear she heard a faint roar for a moment.

"Sweet!", Nanashi thought.

"I activate King of the Swamp's effect allowing me to discard it to add Polymerization to my hand. Then, I will summon Breaker the Magical Warrior.", Nanashi said.

Nanashi

Hand: 5

"His effect activates allowing me to add a counter to him allowing me to have him gain 300 attack.", Nanashi said.

Breaker the Magical Warrior ATK 1600 300 = 1900

"Then, I can remove the counter to destroy one spell or trap you control.", Nanashi said as he pointed at the left card.

Toki was silent as her Mirror Force was vaporized by Breaker.

"Perfect! Now, watch this! I activate my Union Skill, Hunter Fusion! Once per turn I can send the listed fusion materials required for a fusion monster to special summon it in exchange for 1000 life points as long as that monster has 2 fusion materials.", Nanashi said.

Nanashi LP 4000 - 1000 = 3000

"I will send Lord of D and Divine Dragon Ragnarok to fusion summon! King Dragun!", Nanashi said.

"A fusion monster. Nothing I can't deal with.", Toki thought.

"Then, I activate King Dragun's effect allowing me to special summon one dragon monster from my hand! I choose Prime Material Dragon.", Nanashi said.

Nanashi

Hand: 4

Toki looked more wary now, seeming to know its effect.

"Now, I activate Polymerization allowing me to fuse Breaker the Magical Warrior with Exploder Dragon to fusion summon Mysterion the Dragon Crown!", Nanashi said.

Nanashi

Hand: 2

Mysterion the Dragon Crown

(SPELLCASTER/LIGHT/FUSION/EFFECT/ATK 3000/DEF 1500/LV8)

1 Spellcaster monster 1 Dragon monster

Effect: Cannot be used as Fusion Material. This card loses 100 ATK for each of your banished cards. If a monster uses its activated effect to Special Summon itself, or a monster(s) with its same original Type (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 of those Special Summoned monsters; banish that monster, also banish all monsters from the field with its same original Type. You can only use this effect of "Mysterion the Dragon Crown" once per turn.

"Now, I attack you with King Dragun!", Nanashi declared and Toki said nothing.

Toki LP 4000 - 600 = 3400

"Then, I will attack you directly with Prime Material Dragon!", Nanashi declared as Toki snickered.

Toki LP 3400 - 2400 = 1000

"Now, I will end this with Mysterion!", Nanashi declared.

"I must have made a miscalculation. The odds weren't favorable…", Toki thought as she tensed.

"Who are you?", their attention was suddenly drawn to Flynn who was awoken by their duel.

Toki retreated after seeing him rouse.

"What just happened?", Flynn questioned.

"I just summoned two fusion monsters in the same turn.", Nanashi boasted as he puffed out his chest.

"Two fusion monsters? When did you get a second one?!", Flynn questioned.

Nanashi put his fingers together looking away which made Flynn suspicious. Flynn's expression suddenly became very protective. Nanashi winced when Flynn grabbed his ear like a protective mother.

"Where did you get the card?", Flynn asked menacingly.

"Well, you see…", Nanashi said.

He explained to him the weird dream he had. Flynn warily raised up his gauntlet.

"I don't detect any spirits nearby, master Flynn. He's okay.", Burroughs said.

Flynn took a massive sigh of relief.

"You scared me for a moment, Nanashi. You shouldn't be making deals for power with spirits. They can easily go ary.", Flynn said as he put his hands on Nanashi's shoulders.

"Well, Odd-Eyes trusts him and he's harmless.", Nanashi replied.

"Even so. It's still dangerous regardless. I don't want you relying on being handed new cards. You need to improve your skills naturally.", Flynn explained.

Nanashi nodded embarrassed by being scolded by the Samurai.

"There's a reason why I didn't want to just give you this deck right away. I want you to be able to become powerful with what you have with you first. If you can do that once have done that then have this deck you'll be incredibly powerful.", Flynn explained as he held out King Aquila's deck.

"I can see that. You said you had a limited card pool growing up too. So, that's why your approaching my training this way?", Nanashi replied.

"It's not enough to have good cards. You also need great skill too. A good deck is worthless if you can't use it. But, a good duelist can make any deck work. Though, most importantly don't do something so reckless.", Flynn said as he looked down at Nanashi.

Nanashi became more flustered at Flynn's concern.

"…I'm sorry…I just want to…", Nanashi murmured, becoming more flustered.

Flynn looked completely and utterly clueless at this.

"You just want to what?", Flynn questioned.

"Ahh! Forget it! It's embarrassing!", Nanashi said as his face was red as a tomato.

Flynn looked completely confused at this reaction. Nanashi wondered why he was having such thoughts. Was it because Flynn died in their past life and he couldn't stop it? These feelings he had confused him. Despite the fact Flynn made a declaration to protect him he was not okay with that. He felt like he wanted it to be the other way around. He…wanted to protect Flynn. The more he was around him the stronger these feelings and all the weird deja vu became. Flynn's kindness just made the feelings worse.

"I know it might seem slow now, but eventually all of this training will pay off. Just make sure to not try and take a shortcut again.", Flynn said as he held out his hand.

Nanashi nodded, shaking Flynn's hand.

"You're right. I need to do things the right way. I won't do it again.", Nanashi said and Flynn smiled.

His radiant smile made Nanashi look away.

"Does he always have to smile like that?!", Nanashi thought.

Elsewhere in the strange realm…

"Hehe. Ye say that now kid, but soon ye will be begging for my power. Especially when Doomking gets his mitts on Flynn.", Z-ARC said, watching them from the strange realm.

The next day…

Nanashi sweat dropped as the fabled Terminal Guardian laid defeated, gaping dramatically as Flynn squatted down near him.

"Hoy, my card, Mr.Terminal Guardian. The rarest one you have.", Flynn said, looking like he was mugging him.

The sight made Nanashi sweat drop. The Guardian had been an undefeated bogeyman since he was a kid. To see Flynn absolutely humiliate him in an OTK contextualized the difference between their power. He heard Flynn beat him, but actually seeing it was something different.

"You damn, monster! Here!", he said as threw the card in Flynn's face.

"This is a trap card. You have synchro monsters.", Flynn replied as he held up the card Assault Mode Activate.

"Geez! Who do you think you are, kid? Don't you know only the Asura Kai is allowed to take synchro monsters?! Damn you, I will get you next time! Mark my words!", The Terminal Guardian said, hastily trying to escape Flynn.

The Terminal Guardian ran away comedically and Flynn sweat dropped. Flynn snickered looking away.

"I risked my life for a card I can't even use…You've got to be kidding me…", Flynn grumbled.

The pendulum glowed faintly as Nanashi saw the aura around Flynn's deck. This made his eyes widen in shock seeing it for the first time. It was a beautiful bright aura of happiness around his cards. His cards seemed to react to the trap card glowing brighter. Flynn put it away, seeming not to see this. The cards then went back to normal.

"What was that…? His cards just…?", Nanashi thought.

Elsewhere the other prentices were training tirelessly for the tournament that was fast approaching.

A few days later…

There was a massive stadium filled to the brim with people. Asahi was bouncing with excitement, unable to believe they actually got seats. Nanashi was more wary knowing that various enemies of the Samurai will be in this competition. These duels may decide everything. Though, this was just the preliminaries you couldn't be too cautious.

"Thank you for your patience, ladies and gentlemen. The tournament testing the true might of these Hunters is about to begin! The Shinjuku Hunter Tournament Preliminaries shall now commence! Our first contestants is team Stamping Destruction and their opponents is the famous group of Samurai from the surface…introducing team Sky Paladin!", the announcer said.

Everyone held their breaths as the five prentices walked out. They had duel runners with them.

"Fuijwara and Skins are quite the lifesavers. Kaga never mentioned we need these.", Isabeau said.

"Life savers my butt…those death machines almost got me killed.", Navarre complained.

Flynn was silent as he gazed at the black and red duel runner in front of him.

Flashback

The two older men gave them the duel runners a few days ago as thanks for all they've done. Flynn similarly froze while looking at the same duel runner.

"Heh. I thought it would catch your attention. This duel runner belonged to you.", Fuijwara said grabbing his attention.

"You don't say?", Flynn said as he got closer to the bizarre mystic relic.

He sat down on its chair as he felt an immense sense of deja vu.

"You want to test these puppies out? Considering the only things you guys have ridden are horses you'll undoubtedly need lessons.", Skins said.

They went over to a small practice course. The others sweat dropped as Navarre nearly crashed the duel runner instantly and had to be healed by Jonathan. Walter laughed at him before going next and had similar results though he rode longer than Navarre did before crashing. Flynn then went up next. He didn't know why everyone was looking at him. He started up the duel runner easily as if it was second nature to him even though he's never ridden a motorcycle. The others gawked as they watched him drive. Not only did he not instantly crash, but he weaved through every obstacle on the road like it was a minor inconvenience. He completed the course without issue and looked confused at their staring.

"How on Earth did you do that?!", Navarre questioned.

"I dunno. I've never even ridden one of these things before.", Flynn replied as Navarre grumbled.

Flashback end

Flynn rubbed the duel runner with his hand like it was a horse.

"Perform well for me today too and I'll give you an apple.", Flynn said as the others' sweat dropped.

"It's not a horse, Flynn…", Isabeau reminded and Flynn looked extremely embarrassed.

His face was red and steam came out of his ears.

"I knew that…", Flynn murmured.

"Sure you did.", Navarre replied with a funny look.

To be continued…
