When Percival was five, his father, Octavian, climbed to the roof of their home and told him the story of the Lightning Thief. It was his favorite story.

"You are named after a great hero, Val," he would say every time they finished it. He always pointed out the important details that lead to the Greeks victory. The most important fact of it all was that Percy Jackson was kind even to Luke who had started a war and to his father when his dad wanted nothing more than to kill all the greeks.

Percival wanted to be just like him.

When Percival was six, his parents took him to Camp Half-Blood so that he could meet Percy Jackson.

(No matter how much time had passed; Octavian would never allow Percival to go to Camp Jupiter. Lupa, herself, would have to kill him and finish the job before he allowed that.)

His cyan colored eyes stared into eyes as green as the leaves. Percy Jackson was very beautiful. Percival had walked up to him with a bright smile, not paying the people that looked like his father but moved like Percy any mind. "Hello, mother," Percival stated. He was deaf to the way everyone else choked on their laughter. "I thought you would be taller."

Percy had frozen in front of him before asking in a choked voice, "Hey kid. What's your name?"

His father placed a hand on his shoulder, smiling at the other, "His name is Percival. Percy or Val for short."

Percy was weird, Val decided. And so were all his "aunts" and "uncles".

His Father said it was because the greatest hero ever was a pining loser even after six years and that the others were just copycats. But his Mother said that his Father acted just like them so he shouldn't cast stones.

Adults were weird.

Val was able to stay at the camp the entire summer as long as no romans, kids of Athena, or anyone from that ship except Percy himself came near him. And if the Oracle knew what was good for her, then she would stay far away from Val. It was a strange request, but his Uncle Will promised to listen to it.

(Not that Father trusted him much either since he made Uncle Will and Mother Percy and all his other uncles and aunts swear an oath.)

Mother Percy was just like Father.

He made Val put on retinol before he went to bed and checked that he slept on his back. And he puts sunscreen on him before he leaves the cabin.

Mother Percy was just like Captain Jerry. Neither of them could shoot a bow which Val didn't understand. He thought Father said that Mother Percy and Grandpa were "two sides of the same song". Why didn't he know how to shoot a bow?

They both stuck their lips out and pouted whenever they missed a mark. And they both smiled with their eyes whenever Val hit the bullseye (which was more than them. Val was an archer.)

Uncle Will wore the same expression as Mother Percy whenever they caught Val up past his bedtime. The slight scowl and pout on their faces when he told them that his Father lets him stay up later than nine o'clock.

Big Sis Kayla took him on all kinds of adventures in the woods. Mother Percy joined them for most and he always laughed whenever one of nymphai appeared to play with him.

Val was six years old when his Grandfather appeared before him. It made Val very happy because his grandfather didn't turn himself into one of Val's plushies so that they could talk. Grandfather spent most of his time with Val and Mother Percy, but all of Val's aunts and uncles too.

Grandfather let Val take up late. He said Val had a gift of divination... stronger than even Father's whose gifts that Grandfather blessed him with was equal to his Oracle. He always let him practice during the witching hour.

He didn't believe Val when he said that his tarot cards said that he and Mother Percy will fall in love.

Gods were weird too.

He decided that he was going to help the two be like his Mother and Father.

It was a little hard to find help.

Everyone in Grandfather's cabin said that giving their history... it was better for them to work it out themselves. Val did not understand what they meant by that. Father always told him about Grandfather's success with those he loved.

And they were born from the god of prophecy... one who helps shape the future and Fate. Why care about past relationships when all that mattered was now?

"You are a wise little kid," a really pretty japanese girl stated. She smelled like lettuce and myrtle leaves. "I'm Drew. Come on. We're going to help you get your Grandfather and–uhh, Mother Percy together." She lead him to a building of subtle colors that brought out the beauty in each design. In the pillars were two dove shaped signs and an all glass compartment that held a golden apple sitting elegantly on a pile of lettuce.

The cabin of love.

Drew led him to a ceiling to floor length mirror. She knocked five times before the mirror moved to the side. The inside was filled with clothes and shoes and jewelry like walking into a mall. They came across another mirror where she knocked seven times and said: "Hear the music, the thunder of the wings. Love the wild swan."

The mirror moved once more and Val gasped as he saw the inside. It was like looking at Father's mission room. There was a big sign at the top that said: Perpollo: Mission Impossible. There were pictures of Mother Percy and Grandfather all over the walls. There were some with the god attempting to teach him archery. Another with the two swimming in the river. One with all of the Seventh Cabin surrounding the god with a cake and Mother was wearing a kiss the cook apron.

There was a weighing scale that said: "Use one of Eros' Bows" that was currently fixated on: NO!

There were more pictures and hand drawn paintings. There was one that showed Mother Percy if he was blond.

"Top Perpollo-er Of the Month": was currently someone named Celeste holding the crown.

Val did not know what Perpollo was.

Drew looked at him, "This Perpollo HQ. Kids of Aphrodite can be tracked back generations working with our mother and her retinue to help couples get together and to break them apart. And just like the gods above, the demigods don't really like us interfering so we had to hide it away." She smiled at her siblings, "We've helped a lot of people get together and broke up more. We take pride in our work so only a select few know about this even within our siblings."

She pointed to a platinum blond girl who was typing something up on a computer. "Mirajane, here, took over leadership for this place since I moved three years ago. She's aiming to be the one to do the one thing no one has managed since our sister in the 15th century matched Hermes with, funnily enough, another child of Poseidon named Ariadne. She's aiming for Apollon and Percy."

Mirajane grumbled as she typed more aggressively, "This is really not a job for anyone under ten but I'm losing my mind. Come on, kid. I bet you have better ideas." She started mumbling under her breath, "Everything would be so much easier if we just got Eros or Himeros to hit them with an arrow."

He walked over and she sat him on her lap. She clicked a few things on her computer before a data chart showed up: "This is a list of every similarity that Percy has with Apollon and his children. From the way that they style their hair all the way down to how they have the same mannerisms." She did a few more clicks, "And this is how many new campers that come and ask if Percy is Apollo's emo son and that one memorable time if he was the son of Will and Nico from the future."

"Oh my gosh, we could totally create time travel like off Charmed. Like using their desires and stuff," someone exclaimed. "That way we can totally see if this worked."

"It will," Mirajane snapped. Her blue eyes flashed a dangerous blood red. "Love will prevail."

Val tuned them out and stared at the spreadsheet. It was a lot. There were already five hundred entries. "I think that the best way to do it is by doing the opposite!"

"What do you mean," Drew asked. Val smiled at her because he might be six, but he read at an eighth grade level. "Well Newton's Third Law states that for every action in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction. You're using the data of their similarities to get them together because it is proven that people are more often interested in people similar to them. And well, both of them are The Destroyers and their Father's favorite son, and their mothers really love them. They can work alongside Minerva and her offspring. They have things that make them like each other."

Val looked back at the computer, "They like each other a lot that they act like each other and they've gotten used to the routine. Now it's time to break it."

Mirajane paused before she placed him back on the floor and her fingers started to fly over the keyboard. "You're a genius kid."

What followed was the most large-scale operation ever. Different kids from the Tenth Cabin marched out to the archery fields to ask for lessons effectively distracting the children of Apollo there. (He wasn't surprised that it turned into an archery competition since most of the kids of Aphrodite perfected the skill in honor of their half-brothers.)

Another batch kept him so busy in the sword arena that he couldn't go out for the daily sunbathing that they did. Poetry night had shifted from Seventh Cabin's focus to the children of Aphrodite weaving poetic hymns that detailed the love story that Sea held for the Sun.

(Val wasn't allowed to go to Writer's Night because he was underage but Mother Percy couldn't look at the golden cabin for days without blushing.)

There was a basket of aphrodisiacs waiting for Mother Percy outside of his cabin with a candle dedicated to Apollo.

One of the Aphrodite children had gotten "offended" and placed a curse on Mother Percy's hair which turned blond.

The kicker of it all was when Percival got too close to the giant statue in the camp that he wasn't supposed to go by.

Val thought they were being weird. It was just a statue.

A statue that tried to step on him.

He screamed as he was tackled to the ground. When he looked up, Grandfather was holding the statue's foot back while Mother Percy was holding onto him. The look that was in their eyes was filled with love.

After making sure that Val was okay, they quickly went off to talk. (Apparently saving children was the quickest way to Percy's heart.)

"Now that's a greater love story than Helen and Paris," Mirajane sniffed. "At least this time, Mother didn't curse anyone and no war was waged."

Percival did not have any idea what that meant so he asked Mother Percy.

When Percival was six, his namesake, Percy, climbed to the roof of their cabin and read the Iliad to him every sunset. It was his favorite story.

"Rome is the son of Troy, Percy."

NOTES: Names have power.

Apollon = Destroyer

Perseus = Destroyer

Percival (in Latin) = Destroyer

Also, I like to think that Octavian just really admired Percy in the end and Val can celebrate name day.

it comes full circle where Percival is now the legacy of their family line.

(Also, they stay in Alaska. A pretty cottage house where Octavian has all of his family heirlooms and artifacts back from Camp Jupiter. He translates old latin texts and do readings on the side. He also works with his local police force.)
