Chapter 16

Abby had finished feeding David in preparation for Jennifer's visit; the excited Young Prentiss had woken early. She noticed the blonde sitting in her car, waiting for 09:00, not wanting to break any rules as she walked back to the kitchen.

Smirking at the woman's eagerness, she sent her a message to come in. Less than two minutes later, she heard a knocking on the door

Opening the front door with a smile, "Come on in, you're an eager beaver, Jennifer Jareau." Laughed Abby

"I know it's stupid, but I missed him, Abby." retorted an enthusiastic blonde

"David has been awake since 4:30, Jennifer; he was so happy when Emily told him." smirked the nanny

"I take it I have you to thank for her change of heart?" she inquired curiously

Abby nodded. "She started hurting David; I understand why she hates you, Jennifer, but I will not permit her to hurt her son. I sat her down and gave her both barrels, her attitude towards Dave, Hotch, and Reid is uncalled for, and she needs to sort it out. I warned you before you went down to Texas to be careful, Jennifer. I don't think she will ever forgive you. Derek will take time. Enjoy your time with our remarkable little man, coffee?"

"JENNY! Love you, Jenny. I missed you." shouted a happy Prentiss man. "Snuggle me, please."

A pleased blonde kicked off her shoes and climbed onto the bed, and pulled David close. "I missed you, sweet boy. I can see you again now for snuggles and kisses." With a grin, she kissed the top of his head.

Abby placed Jennifer's coffee down, smiling at the sleeping blonde and brunette in the bed. Both only slept last night, periodically too excited for their snuggle date. Pulling out her cell phone, she snapped several pictures of the sleeping pair and quietly left the room.

With a heavy heart, Emily handed Iris her daughter's ashes.

"I am so sorry, Iris," Emily told Isobel's mother as she handed over her daughter's ashes,

The upset mother took the offered oak box, sadness in her eyes. She hadn't hated her daughter for what she had done to the family and town. She had mixed feelings of sadness and relief. No parent should outlive their child; relief she was finally out of that hell hole and hopefully at peace.

"Emily, thank you so much for arranging her cremation and bringing her home. I planted a rose in my roof garden for her; we will spread her ashes around her rose. I would be devastated if I planted it down near her favourite creek, and someone destroyed it out of revenge."

"I think that sounds perfect, Iris." smiled Emily

Yasmin and Emily held hands, watching Iris, the heartbroken mother, spread her daughter's ashes around the rose bush. "Damn you.." Emily grabbed Iris before she collapsed onto the rose bush.

Emily spent the afternoon looking after Iris while Yasmin finalised The Isobel Isles foundation's legal paperwork. The prefabricated kitchen and dining room had been installed temporarily as the permanent foundation premises started renovations.

EJ

Emily sat watching as people used the temporary dining room that opened earlier. Yasmin had found some hostility towards the chosen name for the foundation from some folk, but most people were happy to have three hot, nutritious meals for their families.

"They are proud people, Emily," Yaz smiled as she sat down. " The Mayor's wife objected to the foundation and wanted the name altered. She caused a scene, but, surprisingly, somebody soon told her." Emily turned and looked surprised at her girlfriend.

Yasmin explained to Emily that she had spoken to various people about Isabel. She was still a very hated individual but accepted the assistance provided by the Isobel Isles Foundation.

"It's a start, Yaz; hopefully, when they realise the foundation will help Mexia heal and hopefully flourish again, they will accept she made a terrible mistake. Time heals everything, Yaz."

EJ

" Texas! What are you doing there, Prentiss?" Cara Doherty asked the phone screen as she read the alert message on her phone for a mention of her brunette target. Cara spent the next hour researching information about this dead Isles and her relationship to Prentiss.

"Feeling guilty Bitch? Don't worry your little self, and you will meet poor Isabel again very soon?" She snarled and shoots Emily's picture in the head stuck on the bathroom door. Thankfully her lack of control hadn't resulted in any noise as she had the foresight to use a noise suppressed pistol.

As she looked at the collection of weapons on the bed, she started to form a plan. Everything stated she would return to D.C in the next couple of days. If she began tonight, she could find parking spaces around the hotel. As soon as Prentiss's phone appeared on her map, she would go to her hotel and take the first opportunity she could to kill her. Once she had found parking spaces around the hotel, she would steal a couple of number plates close by to change the plates regularly on her getaway car. Her plan was so full of holes that it had very little chance of working, but a slim chance was much better than no chance. In the glory days when she was young and very keen, she would have laid her life down for the cause without a thought.

With a smirk, she looked at the hole in Emily's head and walked out of her room. She had a lot of work to do.

EJ

'Huzzah, Huzzah.' screamed from the iPhone speaker

An evil smile spread across the mouth of Cara Doherty as she drove back to her motel. A broomstick icon appeared on her tracking app, indicating the phone Emily Prentiss had returned. Changing lane, she turned her car back to the hotel to wait for Prentiss to arrive. Emily Elizabeth Prentiss was now living on borrowed time.

EJ

"What do you mean I have to dress up?" asked a shocked Yasmine

Smirking, Emily turned and faced her girlfriend. "My David takes his Harry Potter world visits very seriously. It would seem that David, Abby and Jennifer discussed your costume and have decided you will dress as Luna Lovegood."

Yasmin tried to think of the character in the film, but her mind was blank. Handing her phone across with a picture of the character on the screen, Emily smiled.

"Pretty." smiled a relieved woman

"Uh-huh, what were you expecting? Warts and a black witch's hat." asked a very amused girlfriend.

Pausing for a moment, Yasmin started to grin very mischievously at her girlfriend as an idea just started to form in her mind.

" I need to pop next door to grab something from the market before going upstairs," smirked Yasmin.

Told to wait outside, Emily bemused and watched her girlfriend disappear into the store on a mission. Yasmin had decided to go all-in for David; Luna Lovegood was a blonde, so that she would colour her hair for their trip to Florida.

"Ready?" asked Emily

Nodding, Yasmin took the offered hand and walked into the hotel.

EJ

Parked down the street from the hotel's main entrance sat Cara Doherty watching Emily Prentiss through her mirror. Her hand is hidden under the blanket on her passenger seat, resting on a pair of Mac-10s, her preferred weapon for close-in targets of an indiscriminate nature. Cara had two magazines, each containing 32 rounds. Only her opening burst matters; everything else was to cause chaos, allowing her to get away hopefully.

All that was needed now was the patience to wait for Prentiss's reappearance. Watching the hotel entrance like a hawk, Cara Doherty drummed her fingers on the dashboard in annoyance. Time seemed to be going backwards; Prentiss had disappeared inside the hotel over an hour and a half ago and still hadn't reappeared. The unstable Irish woman was getting antsy, thinking she might have left via an alternative route. Her hand dropped to the passenger seat and rested on the pistol grip of her hidden Mac-10, debating with herself should she go and check on Prentiss and possibly shoot her in her hotel room if she answered the door and escaped using the rear delivery entrance.

Her mind made up; Cara lifted the Mac 10 from its hiding place, her face devoid of any emotion. She had her game face on for her showdown with Prentiss.

" Revenge will be yours, Shamus and yours, Chloe, I swear for the Family." The killer promised the picture of her brother and sister she held in her hand.

With her two Mac 10s secured in the small wheeled executive case, she closed the door on the car and started a slow walk towards the hotel, imagining the look on Emily Prentiss's face as she stared down the barrel of her machine pistol. Picturing the bullet-ridden corpse of the brunette bitch lying on the floor of her hotel room. She started smiling and humming an old Irish tune she remembered from her childhood.

EJ

Emily stood, mouth open, staring in shock at her now very blonde girlfriend. Yasmin had dyed her hair platinum blonde, ready for the upcoming visit to Harry Potter land with David.

"Wow, ... Wow." is all Emily can manage as she takes in the sight of her girlfriend.

Her smirking girlfriend walked up and kissed the open mouth of her shocked girlfriend.

" Close your mouth, sweetheart." laughed Yaz. "If you're a good girl when we get back from purchasing our vacation tickets, I will give you a treat." she smiled at Emily as she kissed her sweetly.

Smiling, Emily couldn't imagine loving this woman any more than at this very moment in time. She couldn't wait to see David's face when he realised Yasmin wasn't wearing a blonde wig.

"I love you, Yasmin Khan. You are a unique person." smiled a very emotional mother, amazed by her girlfriend's willingness to make David happy.

EJ

Closing her car door and pulling the handle up on her wheeled case Cara looked up and instantly noticed Emily Prentiss appearing from her hotel hand in hand with her girlfriend. Pleased that her luck had changed, she turned around and got back into her car and quickly put her wheeled case into her passenger seat footwell, removing her Mac-10s and dropping them on the seat. Starting the car and promptly dropping it into drive, she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. Looking at the oncoming traffic, she picked a hole in the traffic and turned the car towards her brunette target.

Gunning the engine Cara accelerated the car towards Prentiss and her now blonde headed girlfriend. Procuring numerous horn blasts and single fingered gestures as oncoming traffic swerved out the way of the vehicle, she continued towards Prentiss. Her right hand gripped the Mac-10 tightly, her knuckles white she mounted the sidewalk clipping a pedestrian as she slewed the car hard left and brought her weapon up and depressed the trigger.

One second later, she tossed the now empty gun onto the floor and picked up her second weapon. Firing indiscriminately at anything that moved, she emptied her last gun in three seconds. Taking a glance in her rearview mirror, Cara could see Prentiss on her back, unmoving, with the blonde, knelt by her side screaming.

"Bye bitch." snarled a pleased assassin as she concentrated on her getaway.

She slowed the car down and fed into the traffic, and tried to drive without being noticed. Her plan to cause pandemonium around the hotel was working perfectly. Metro police had received numerous 911 calls from concerned members of the public. Her plan was working perfectly. It would take time for the police to ascertain the facts and identify her car. If everything went as planned by the time the make and model of the car had been identified, she would have changed vehicles and been well be hidden, waiting for things to blow over.

EJ

A very pleased Emily walked hand in hand with Yaz as they walked out of the hotel.

"Coffee?" asked Emily

Emily suddenly turned her head towards the screeching noise.

The red car mounted the sidewalk and turned hard left, and opened fire.

'Pop, Pop,'

"Emily!" screamed Yaz

Emily dropped to the floor like someone had turned her off; blood spurted from the right side of her head. Time seemed to stop for Yasmin as she knelt beside the motionless body of Emily, blood cascading from her head, pooling on the ground forming a grotesque red halo. The shocked attorney dropped to the floor kneeling beside her fallen girlfriend. Tears streamed down the stunned woman's face.

"Emily, Emily, please open your eyes," begged Yasmin as she tried to get her girlfriend to respond.

Yasmin pleaded with Emily to open her eyes, but the brunette remaind motionless on the floor. Sirens filled the air as help approached. Oblivious to anything but Emily, Yasmin screamed at her, begging the blood-covered brunette to open her eyes.

"Emily! Please." screamed a shocked Yasmin

Lost in her desperation, Yasmin hadn't heard the approaching first responders. Her fight or flight instinct kicked in as she suddenly felt a hand on her shoulders.

"Ma'am, Ma'am!" shouted the paramedic, trying to grab the shocked woman's attention.

The female paramedic pulled Yasmin away from the fallen woman so her partner could check on Emily. Her Partner knelt beside Emily and started to assess her injuries. He pressed two fingers to the pale woman's neck against her carotid artery. Looking up to his partner, he shook his head and held four fingers up to her. His partner acknowledged with a slight nod as she moved Yasmin away from the scene.

"E-Emily?" Stuttered the shocked Attorney

The seasoned paramedic watched as her partner slipped a casualty card into the plastic envelope attached to the fallen woman's jacket. The black panel was visible for all to see, indicating her triage category was expectant. He quickly moved to another injured bystander. The scene outside the hotel and its surrounding streets looked like a war zone.

"Shh, Mike, my partner has your Emily. Don't worry; let me check you out. You can see her at the hospital." Answered the paramedic very professionally. Yasmin was quickly assessed and treated for her injuries and transported to the hospital for treatment.

EJ

Only thirty minutes had passed since Cara Doherty had opened fire on Emily as she walked out of the hotel. Four people died outside the hotel, not knowing why, while they went about their own business without a care in the world, not knowing they were about to lose their lives for one woman's revenge. Three local emergency rooms had the wounded spread between them.

With a smirk, Cara Doherty toasted the television with her half bottle of Bushmills Irish whisky.

"Chloe and Shamus's ding-dong the wicked witch is dead." smirked the Irish woman

Her only disappointment was that she couldn't locate where Declan had been taken. She knew she had to leave the states as soon as she could safely after seeking her retribution on Prentiss in such a horrendously public manner.

A delighted woman knelt by the bath as she coloured her hair. She planned to sit tight and change her appearance as things died down. Her secret weapon and lynchpin of her escape plan, Clive Quinlan Esq.

Her makeover complete, she looked at her naked form in the bathroom mirror. Who was very pleased with the look? Her new black hair was cut short, and she sported an authentic black beard. She had flattened her chest somewhat using a very tight and uncomfortable chest binder.

"You always wanted another son." smiled Cara, pleased with her new disguise. With some cleverly designed raised footwear, she had increased her height by four inches. Unable to disguise her northern Irish accent, she intended to pretend she could not speak due to a stroke. Of course, she had some very official-looking medical documentation from her Canadian doctor. All Cara needed to do now was wait for a few days and then drive out of Washington carefully as Clive Quinlan. After all, the authorities would be looking for a lone female.

Madison May held a very emotional Penelope in her arms as she cried. The two computer analysts have just watched the footage of the carnage from the drive-by shooting. Paused on the screen is an enlarged picture of Cara Doherty shooting from the driver's seat. Pushing her partner back from the computer, Madison sent the picture of Cara Doherty to Hotch and the team with the promise she would look after Penelope.

"Come on, Penelope, let's go and sit on the couch while the guys get to work." smiled a troubled partner.

With Penelope's head laid on her lap, Maddison sent the team a text telling them to let her know if they wanted her to do anything, and she emphasised her anything in flashing capitals, indicating what she meant without actually explaining. The newest member of the BAU was royal pissed at this woman who stared out from her computer monitor. She slowly stroked her hand through Garcia's hair to calm her troubled friend as she used her wireless keyboard to finish issuing the alert and BOLO for Cara Doherty.

Hotch walked into the girl's lair and looked down at his upset friend being consoled by her friend.

"Penelope, we will find her and bring her to justice for this. You have my word." an unusually emotional Hotch told her

The upset blonde looked up at her boss and slightly acknowledged him.

"Madison, look after her, please?" Asked Hotch as he walked out.
