INAUGURATE: to make a formal beginning of; initiate; commence; begin. (So, because this word was weird and something I would never write in a story like this, I have added a second word to the chapter that is made up of the letters in the word for today.)
RETAIN: continue to have (something); keep possession of.
The two men stood there and stared into each other's eyes for several minutes. When their gaze finally broke, they smiled.
"This life is going to be awesome, isn't it?" Blaine asked.
"It already is," Kurt replied.
"We're not too far from the tennis courts. Shall we continue our little tour?"
"I'd love that," Kurt said. "Then can we head back to the house? I'm getting a little hungry."
"Absolutely. We did work up quite an appetite this morning after we had our breakfast," Blaine replied, waggling his eyebrows.
"That we did," Kurt said. And just to tease his love a little bit, he added, "I think you need to make sure to eat a hearty lunch, too. You're going to need the energy while you show me around your house. I'm sure there are tons of chairs in the many rooms you haven't shown me."
Blaine watched, slack jawed, as Kurt swayed his way back to his side of the golf cart and sat down.
"You coming?" Kurt asked with one eyebrow raised and a smirk on his lips.
Blaine closed his eyes and threw his head back, moaning loudly and palming his now hardening erection. "I'd better be later," he mumbled.
"Play your cards right and you will be, love."
"Yeah… You and Coop and San are definitely going to get along just fine."
The pair drove the rest of the way to the tennis courts, singing songs that Kurt knew and Blaine joining in.
Swaying room as the music starts
Strangers making the most of the dark
Two by two their bodies become one
I see you through the smoky air
Can't you feel the weight of my stare
You're so close but still a world away
What I'm dying to say, is that
I'm crazy for you
Touch me once and you'll know it's true
I never wanted anyone like this
It's all brand new, you'll feel it in my kiss
Once they finished that song—what Kurt deemed their inaugural song in his mind—they seamlessly moved into another, their harmonies matching like they'd been singing together for years instead of minutes. Which, technically, they had, and maybe this was something they'd always share: music.
I was sleeping
And right in the middle of a good dream
Like all at once I wake up
From something that keeps knocking at my brain
Before I go insane
I hold my pillow to my head
And spring up in my bed
Screaming out the words I dread
"I think I love you!"
(I think I love you)
Do you think you love me?
I think I love you...
"Is that something you and the other Blaine did? Sing together, I mean," Blaine asked.
"We did," Kurt said as they slowed down by the tennis courts.
"It was strange because, when I was still in O'a Nalore, I could hear this song clear as a sunny day playing in my mind," Kurt continued. "And it wasn't one I'd ever heard before, yet I knew it. I knew the words and the notes, all of it. Then, when I popped out in the woods near Houghton, I could hear that Blaine singing the same song. And my whole life there, music just came easily to me. I could hear a song, and it was like some part of me already knew it, allowing me to sing with him."
"I love that," Blaine said with a smile. "Music is such a huge part of my life, and I'm thankful to whoever or whatever sent you here in the first place that that was something you and he, and I for that matter, can do together."
"Me, too," Kurt said, happier than ever that he was able to retain this ability from his last life and hoping it would continue throughout his other lives. Turning to the courts they were now parked next to, Kurt asked, "Do you play?"
"Mm-hm," Blaine answered, nodding his head. "Did you ever?"
"No. I'd be willing to learn, though," Kurt said.
"I'd love to teach you. I will warn you… You will definitely work up a sweat."
"That, my dear, is not a problem in the least," Kurt replied, moaning softly under his breath.
"Really?" Blaine asked, catching on.
"Is that okay?"
"That is more than okay, Kurt."
The two of them closed their eyes at the same time, both imagining different scenarios. Kurt was picturing tennis lessons in the sweltering heat, sweat dripping down Blaine's body and him stripping him right there in the middle of the court and licking it all up, leaving no crevice of his body unexplored. Blaine was picturing the two of them making out after going back to the house after playing an intense game of tennis against each other, and then Kurt being so turned on by Blaine's sweat that he takes him in the shower while they're trying to get clean, not even able to wait to get to the bed.
"Home?" Blaine choked out.
"Please," Kurt agreed.
Both of them adjusted themselves, and Blaine started the drive to the house, showing Kurt more of the island along the way.
"You're going to have to tell me what you were thinking about that got you so excited, Mr. Hummel," Blaine said after they got back to the house.
"Maybe I'll just have to show you instead?"
"I'm going to guess I won't mind that one bit," Blaine said.
The pair made themselves behave while they made a simple lunch of sandwiches, fruit, and some fresh veggies. They talked about Kurt's childhood and some more about his last lifetime.
"Was it strange for you at all to have a version of both of your parents and even yourself?" Blaine asked as Kurt told him about how his "mom" was on Broadway with Hugh Jackman.
"Yes and no," Kurt answered as he thought about it. "It was weird to see them, looking exactly like they did back home. They had the same mannerisms and quirks, though they weren't my parents. Every year, the Burt from the world I was transported to would go visit his Elizabeth and Kurt's graves, and I never went with him. On the other hand, I honestly don't think anything will cease to amaze me with this potion. So, I try to keep an open mind and not let myself think about it too much. If I tried to make sense of it, I think I'd make myself crazy."
"That makes sense to me," Blaine agreed. "I think you're doing amazing, and if you ever need to talk about anything, please know that I'm here for you, even if you simply need space."
"Thank you."
They continued to eat their lunch, and then afterward, Blaine promised Kurt a tour of the main house.
"Are you ready to see the rest of it?"
"I most certainly am!"
