A/N: So, it dawned on me Friday night that we have two more words, and the Klaine Spring Fling will be over. This story, however, is not ready to be over just yet. My amazing friends, teddyshoney and gleefulpoppet, have agreed to each give me two extra words each, and hopefully, I can get Eight wrapped all up.
Also, life has been insanely busy the last two days and I have decided to do both yesterday and todays words in this chapter, and will add another chapter/word at the end. Thank you for being patient with me and giving me grace to be human.
The pair rushed around, getting clothes and making their hair look like they hadn't been doing what they'd been doing all day, and then headed to the golf cart. Their drive to the tennis courts was quiet, though not uncomfortable. Kurt knew that Blaine trusted Cooper, and so he was only nervous-cited to meet him instead of scared like he knew might happen in other lifetimes.
Blaine was simply giddy to see his brother and introduce the love of his life—well, apparently, a lot of his lives—to him. He knew Coop would have a lot of questions that they'd have to answer, and he knew they were only designed for Coop to look out for his younger brother and ensure there Kurt didn't have insidious motives for such an elaborate tale.
"I just thought of something," Blaine said as he broke the silence. They were about three minutes from the courts, so he'd have to explain quickly. "Cooper might seem a little protective of me at first. Only at first, though."
"Why is that?" Kurt asked. "I mean, I'm guessing there's a specific reason."
"There is. When I was in college, there was this guy, Micah, who sought me out. He tried really hard to push himself into my life, first by trying to be a friend and then later more. I never did anything with him, thank goodness. Anyway, Cooper never felt right about him. He told me something in his gut was sending off warning bells, even though I didn't get the same vibes from him. Coop found out, through his own way, that Micah was only trying to be my friend and then lover because of my money. He was a lazy son of a bitch and never wanted to lift a finger the rest of his life and still be paraded around like a trophy husband. After Cooper showed me the evidence of this, I started to put some things together, and I could see it. I called him, told him I didn't want to see him anymore, and that was that. I shut him out of my life and then went to counseling for a bit to understand the reasons behind why I couldn't feel it the way Cooper could. Now, I'm glad to say, I can feel those kinds of people. I refuse to let myself be taken advantage of."
"Thank you for telling me," Kurt said softly. "It makes me sad that there are people out there like that, people who just want to use others for notoriety's sake."
"I am absolutely certain he won't get any of those feelings from you, though," Blaine explained as they pulled into sight of the courts. "There is nothing except truth and love radiating from every pore of your being."
"Love you," Kurt said with a smile.
"Love you, too," Blaine replied with an equally sunny smile. "Ready to meet my brother?"
"Let's do this."
The golf cart slowed near the helicopter, and there stood two men. It was easy for Kurt to pick out which one was Cooper, even if Blaine hadn't shown him a picture. The man was tall—taller than Blaine, certainly, and probably around Kurt's height—with dark brown hair, crystal blue eyes, and a smile that made Kurt wonder if both Blaine and Cooper had gone to some sort of workshop to perfect them. The other man was the pilot. He was shorter and balding. Kurt thought he looked like a really nice guy, and he and Cooper were apparently very good friends if their banter and interactions meant anything at all.
Blaine stopped the golf cart, and the two men got out, meeting in the front and lacing their fingers together before walking the few steps to the other two.
"I can see why you wanted to keep him secret," Cooper said. "He's stunning."
"Mine," Blaine growled good-naturedly and then hugged his brother with the arm that wasn't clutching Kurt's. "Missed you," he whispered.
"I missed you, too," Cooper said, in awe that his little brother seemed so light and happy, which was nothing like he'd been the last time he'd seen him.
"How's your son, Lewis?" Blaine asked once he was done hugging Cooper, a silent agreement that they would talk once they were back at the house about Kurt. It wasn't that Blaine didn't trust Lewis, because he did. Their whole family did. It was more that he wanted to get things ironed out with Cooper first before giving anyone too much information.
"He's good," Lewis said with a smile. "He's waiting for me at the house. Cooper said he'd stay for a few days, so we have some things planned for just the two of us."
"That sounds like a lot of fun," Blaine commented. "We won't keep you from him."
"Thank you, Lewis," Cooper said and hugged the shorter man. "I'll call or text if my plans change."
Cooper grabbed his bag and followed Kurt and Blaine to the golf cart. They started back to the house and stopped at the road, wanting to make sure Lewis got away okay before any of them spoke.
"Cooper, this is Kurt. Kurt, this is Cooper," Blaine said. "I know you have about a thousand and one questions, Coop, and we'll answer all of them when we get back to the house, okay?"
"I do have a ton of questions, B," Cooper agreed. "I'll let you know up front, though, he feels purer than anyone I've ever met in my life. Please tell me he's not an angel or something."
Both Kurt and Blaine laughed out loud at that, happy that Cooper was open to Kurt possibly not being fully human. The two looked at each other and smiled. Their smile communicated that everything was going to be okay, that they'd get through anything and everything so long as they had each other.
A/N: Today's chapter is a bit shorter for a lot of reasons. Mainly, I have a stupidly busy Saturday ahead of me, and I want to make sure I do this part, the meeting Cooper properly part, justice. So, if I need to extend it another day, I will. Thank you to who all are reading this and going along on this journey with me. I'm loving this series and am thrilled you're here to experience it, too.
