A/N: So, a few new thoughts came into my head following this story. Especially since I threw out like three fourths of my canon/OC pairings I had in Ren's storylines. So, here's an updated version of the prologue! Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. That goes to the respective owner(s). I only claim my OCs. Also, warning for language, violence, and possible other mature themes (not sure if it will get into a bedroom scene 'cause of how hard some people go with the rules on here, so I might post the scene over on my AO3 account).

Prologue- Tales of the Past:

For centuries, the clans have been at an uneasy peace. There was always disputes for small bits of territory or hunting grounds (mainly between the vampires and werewolves since humans were off-limits as part of the contract to keep them from hunting the clans; now the only human blood the vampire clan gets is from donations or from humans that committed heinous crimes), but nothing major. Then, that changed with one of the vampire kings, the father to the current. He started a war against the werewolf clans. Initially, he claimed it was for the good of the vampires, to get more hunting ground and keep the clan prospering. But we knew it was a lie.

A cloaked figure walked through the groves of trees, the pin on the chest in the form of a bat. Growls alerted the figure to the beings hiding in the shadows and while he let out a gasp in surprise, he only paused for a brief second before continuing further in.

Battles raged back and forth, some being a victory for the vampires while others being a victory for werewolves. Both sides lost many clan members regardless of the victories. Until one day, the current king had decided to invite the heads of both sides to a peace agreement. It was a shock to all, namely the vampires who believed in his father's lies. It seemed like the war would end peacefully with no more bloodshed. How wrong everyone was.

The figure stopped as the rustling gets louder, several large wolves coming from the brush and surrounding him. He scanned around. "I'm here to see your alpha," he said.

A voice among the wolves scoffed, "Why should we believe the word of a vampire? Especially you, prince."

Before any talks could begin, the king ordered the soldiers in the room to attack the werewolf alphas. The whole scene was a bloodbath. The High Alpha only managed to escape thanks to his wife who sadly didn't escape. That was the final nail in the coffin. They were tricked into leaving their weapons only to be slaughtered with barely a chance to fight back. The weapons were infused with silver, making it useless for them to fight back without serious damage.

"Yeah! Haven't you bloodsuckers done enough?" another shouted.

"You should be lucky to even have made one step in here," a third added.

"I come here with no weapons-" The prince threw the hood off, showing he carried no sword or any other weapon. "-and no soldiers. I want to talk with your alpha about something important."

Years down the road, the Vampire King's daughter started to secretly contact a werewolf pack. While skeptical, she proved herself to be an ally. The pack's next in line, a silver haired werewolf named Kalin, started planning a way to end the war once and for all. While it involved the necessary take down of the King, the princess was willing to go through with it. Anything to stop the war. Unfortunately, a traitor among their ranks alerted the King. He had the princess arrested and executed. The werewolf, Kalin, was run through and left for dead.

"Wait," a voice said among the growls. One of them in human form stepped forward. The prince's blue-green eyes grew wide.

"Kalin," he whispered.

"You're Alyssa's little brother. Ren, right? I thought you were off living among the humans."

The prince, Ren, bared his fangs. "Plans changed, I came back only to see my sister butchered. What do you think happened?"

"I know. What I want to know is why you're all the way out here. I was sure your father would keep you on a tight leash, being the last of his kids."

"Yeah, well, I might have a different idea in mind."

"What idea is that?"

Ren gave a sadistic looking grin. "Seeing the Vampire King's head on a spike might be my new plan."

I was tired of this. Tired of seeing the man claiming to be my father ruin the vampire kingdom. Tired of the constant battles, worrying if anyone I knew was going to be next on the list of soldiers lost. Tired of hearing everyone drag my sister's name through the mud for only wanting to end the war without wiping out another clan. Now, the war's going to end even if it kills me.

A/N: Well, that's it for the remake of the prologue. I might try to rewrite the first couple of chapters since my writing style has changed quite a bit. Hope you enjoyed regardless! See you in the next one!
