Chapter 30: Fushima Saku, Kometani Chushaku
Fushima Saku had always liked deep male friendships. What luck she had then, to find one in her first year in Itan High. She came across the two males by accident, but that brief look was enough to tell her that the two had a special bond. One was not very talkative, but his actions speak a million words. The other, as if sculpted by the god above to be the perfect pair, would then translate his motions and movements, completely accurately.
Indeed, Naruse Shisuto and Kometani Chushaku was the deep male bond that Fushima was looking for. It's a wonderful couple. Naruse seemed to be in love with his own physique, while Kometani was a floating word. Yin to yang, negative and positive, attack and defense.
In fact, the more Fushima looked at them, the more she realised the two must've known each other for quite some time. So she started theorising how they met. After school, she would sit down, alone in her classroom, writing down possible N/K meet cute scenarios. Her first theory was one of them being in a box the other picked up on the street, but that's impossible. None of the two would ever stay still in a box.
The obvious direction then is this: Kometani couldn't stop commenting on everything, and every friend he ever had couldn't stand it. Then he met Naruse, a man who wouldn't mind Kometani's continuous commentary (and might in fact love it), and so the the two stuck together ever since then.
"That is a good interpretation," Kometani said.
Fushima jumped and nearly fell off her chair if not for Kometani grabbing her shoulder. "W-what!? I didn't say anything."
Kometani nodded and released his grip. "Sadly, I have no such hope with Naruse."
"He's too good for you?" Fushima asked.
"He'll have his own precious person in the future," Kometani said.
"Why do you look so sad about it?"
"She's gonna be sweating a ton, taking care of Naruse," Kometani said. "Anyway, N/K is not going to happen. Please move on."
"Where else am I going to find a boy who hardly talks, and another boy who understood him perfectly?"
Kometani blinked. "You'll find one soon."
"I don't think so. It's a rare combo. If I find it, I'll stick with it, thick and thin."

Komi nearly ran into Fushima, but in a swift graceful motion she shifted to the side and avoided her completely. Tadano was close behind and stopped just before he crashed into her.
"Sorry, Fushima. K-komi, I…" Before he could finish his sentence, he continued running.
Fushima looked at how desperate those two looked. Could they be...in a fight? She was a supporter of Komidano, but...maybe Katadano could return…?
"No," Kometani said.
Fushima jumped again. She nearly fell, but Kometani held on to her wrist. He pulled her up. "They'll make up very soon."
"How do you know?"
Kometani showed Fushima the next chapter.
"Oh. Okay," Fushima said. "Oh, there's something I wanted to say, Kometani. On the cultural festival, I finally realised how fun it is to commentate over something. Granted, it's for something I really loved, but I can understand why you do what you do."
"It's really fun sometimes, isn't it?" Kometani smiled. "There's very few of us 'commentators' in Itan. I'd be very glad to count you among us."
"The commentators include Aizawa Minori, from chapters 208-9, 212, and 316," Fushima said.
"Good job." Kometani gave a thumbs up.
Author's note: The second description is my headcanon for why Naruse and Kometani are friends. Other commentators include the MC for first year's sports festival, but he has no name and I'm not sure if he's a student or not.
