Team RBY had run as fast as possible back to the Cotta-Arc household when they saw Cordovin's mech fall down. Arriving they could see JNR, Oscar and Qrow facing off against Hazel and Tyrian.
The kids may have had the numerical advantage, but no one had been getting sleep due to their worries. Even Qrow looked barely on his feet although that may have been due to all the alcohol he had been drinking.
Still all of their friends perked up at the sight of their reinforcements. They weren't the only ones to react however.
"Hmmmm what's this? The little white bitch isn't with her little group of friends?" Tyrian began cackling, "Oh this is perfect, our goddess truly is wise. Let me guess, let me guess. She went ahead to Atlas? Hm?"
The girls of team RBY immediately became concerned. Why was Salem after Weiss? Fortunately, Hazel seemed willing to answer if indirectly.
"She must have taken the Lamp in that transport we saw leave. Come on Tyrian, we are wasting time here. The leviathan will be enough to deal with them."
Turning around, the two men began walking away.
"HEY, WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING!" Yang yelled at the two. Hazel stopped and turned his head back.
"Fighting you all is pointless. Ozpin apparently isn't home and I hear that is because you found out about his little secret. Besides, none of you are a threat now, the best you could do is delay us a few minutes and all that killing you would accomplish for us is perhaps some stress relief." Hazel sounded almost bored as he bluntly stated the situation, then his face flashed almost sympathetically, "You should take this time to say goodbye, we saw the mech go down and I doubt anything else can take out the leviathan." With that Hazel turned forward again and continued off.
Team RBY didn't have the energy to give chase. Their fight with Adam had drained them physically and mentally. With nothing better to do, everyone entered the Cotta-Arc household hoping to think of something.
"So, anyone got any ideas?" Yang started looking slightly hopeful. Unfortunately everyone just looked down.
Then Ruby got a look.
"Well… I have been working with Maria on the whole silver eyes thing. Maybe if we can get to the Leviathan I can turn it to stone like the Wyvern at Beacon." Ruby sounded hesitant, but hopeful. Unfortunately, Maria quickly saw the flaw in this plan.
"Ruby, even if this extreme trial by fire could work, how are you going to get to the Leviathan? Silver eyes aren't particularly effective from around a hundred feet away." Maria explained. Then Ruby's scroll buzzed. Confused, she looked at the number and saw that it belonged to the new girl Aya. Angrily she picked it up.
"WHERE ARE YOU!? THE HOUSE WAS ATTACKED AND YOU WEREN'T HERE TO HELP?!" Ruby immediately started shouting, even startling her family who had never seen her really angry before.
Ruby puts the scroll on speaker and there is a pause before Aya answers.
"Well, we were at the docks. We figured it was now or never to get some transport to the Atlas place, but I am mostly calling to ask if you know about any weaknesses on a Leviathan."
Once again the conversation pauses. When she gets no reply Aya wonders if they got disconnected somehow.
"Hello? You still there kid?" She asked hesitantly. This snaps everyone out of their daze and Ruby hurriedly replies.
"Yes, yes we're here. Come to the house and pick us up, with your airship I have a plan." Ruby, hung up and turned to Maria with a smile forming on her face to which the old woman rolled her mechanical eyes.
Only a minute has passed when the Atlas Airship comes in for a landing in front of the House. With those from Remnant quickly boarding. Terra and Saphron watch with worry as they take off.
"Alright we are only going to get one shot at this so we need it to go." Ruby stops as she notices someone missing. "Where is Kagura?" She asks, confused.
The girls from Earth look slightly sheepish before Aya points out the window at the Leviathan. "Well… she is over there."
As everyone looks to where Aya pointed they notice that the Leviathan is swinging around trying to hit something glowing that is jumping around on its body.
Nobody can really see it clearly yet, but context is enough for them to realize that the light is probably coming from Kagura.
"Ok… Questioning that later. We need to get Ruby closer to the Leviathan," Jaune says being the first to pull himself together. Now it is the Earthlings turn to be confused.
"Why Ruby specifically? I doubt that sniper of hers will do much more than the rest of us."
"Oh right we haven't told you about silver eyes yet!" Ruby exclaimed, earning raised eyebrows from the earthlings.
"Ruby has a special anti-grimm power in her eyes. She was able to freeze a wyvern back at Beacon so maybe she can do the same here." Jaune explained. While not particularly in depth this really wasn't the time as the airship was approaching the battle.
Now that they were closer it was clear that things weren't getting anywhere. Kagura was fast enough to avoid the Leviathans attacks, but couldn't launch any real attacks and had been unable to retrieve the sword after plunging it into the Grimm's eye. Still it was an impressive feat, under better conditions a team of professional Huntsmen would be capable of this, but Kagura was doing it on her own and in less than stellar conditions.
To those from Earth things weren't looking as great however, Kagura may have mastered Dare Drive, but it was still a very taxing technique to maintain and she was clearly tiring.
"Alright while Kagura has it distracted we will have Ruby use her eyes as we fly past."
Jaune's plan ended up being simple, but with the Leviathan being in the middle of the water and no way to make footholds of anything, but the fallen mech it was as good as they were going to get.
In preparation Maria and Ruby move to the door while Ren masks their presence. The air is filled with tension as they approach. Ruby begins recalling her memories. Focusing on what she needed to protect and-
"WATCH OUT!"
Her thoughts are broken as the airship suddenly lurched to dodge an attack. The Leviathan had noticed them and taken a swing. They had dodged, but focused as Ruby was she lost her footing. Flailing she reaches out towards the ship seeing the horrified faces of her friends and family as she falls out the door and into open air.
