Can't Shoot Straight Series #3

Sequel to When in Rome, do as the Romans Do.

"So Miss Asami… I'm sure by now that your fans have hounded you with questions after questions about how you're spending your Valentine's Day. If you don't mind me asking since we are filming a Valentine's Day special, did you have any special plans with Korra? Or maybe possibly any fawn memories?" A host asks politely while maintaining eye contact with the actress.

Asami smiles back before nodding slightly. "Mmh yes, while I'm sure everyone is dying to know what we do on Valentine's Day, truth be told, I'll be spending it alone this year."

The host gasps softly. "Oh my, and why is that?"

Letting out a soft chuckle, Asami adjusts her legs in her seat. "Well some of you may be aware of this already but she's actually out of town for some business. She won't be back till later so sadly I'll be alone with our kids." She then leans forward a bit as if she was telling a secret. "Although, between you and me, I think our little Kalli had this planned out."

With a bright smile, the host laughs out loud. "Guess your prince is still as unpredictable as ever."

The actress laughs back before leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms together. "It seems so, anyway, I'm happy that you invited me to your live show. I was beginning to get bored out of my mind sitting at home."

"Oh no no no! Thank you for coming! It was extremely last minute so our staff wasn't expecting such a big treat to be blessed with our beloved actress!" The host grins at the camera before gesturing at Asami, "Let's give Asami a round of applause!"

The staff started clapping and Asami gave them a courteous bow and smile.

"Now then, shall we continue with some fun trivia questions?"

Asami nods with a smile. "Shoot me with your best shot."

"Now, I've heard rumors that Korra can be quite dramatic with giving you surprises such as bringing you some food out of nowhere or bursting out of a box with flowers. Can you confirm if this is true?"

Immediately laughing at that, Asami nods in confirmation. "I wouldn't call it dramatic but she does surprise me with the random surprises from time to time. Sporadic is probably a better word for it."

"Well that sounds fun, care to share some details…?" The host carefully fishes.

Asami just gives him a soft grin. "Well…"

*Meanwhile*

"Korra, are you sure this is a good idea?!" Bolin whispers as she carefully follows after her on a high railing. "I know it's Valentine's and all but I don't know if shooting an arrow at her during a live show is a good idea!"

She just shrugs him off. "We'll be fine. Don't you trust my skills? You know I won't miss." She finally stops at the perfect spot before preparing her bow.

"No shit Sherlock! I know you won't miss but this is gonna create chaos for sure!" He exclaims in a whisper yet again.

"What? I thought you lived for this type of propaganda Bo?" She teases before putting the string on her bow. "We'll be trending for days."

Bolin finally rolls his eyes with a snort. "I knew you were up to something when you had me book you an early flight back. Oh man Asami is gonna kill me!" Despite his protest, he helped Korra prepare her surprise by making sure the harness to drop her down later was nice and secure.

Korra sets down her bow carefully before grabbing an arrow and tying the small banner message she had prepared. As she puts it together gingerly and a couple other ones to go with it before sparing Bolin a glance.

"You mean kill me." She snorts as well, "That should be great propaganda too. Asami Sato kills her girlfriend slash yet to be announced fiancé, Korra Seaton!" She then scrunches her face before asking, "Actually… how bad do you think this is gonna be."

Bolin gives her a look. "Oh. You mean shooting her with an arrow at her during a live airing show or shooting an arrow at her as your 'public proposal' during a live stream?"

"The proposal part obviously duh. We've sort of talked about how we were going to tell everyone but never came to a consensus. And besides," she cocks an eyebrow, "what's wrong with shooting her with an arrow during a live stream?"

"Everything!" He shoots back with much distress. "There's gonna be no go-backs you know?!" He then grabs his head in frustration, "I have a bad feeling about this… you're either gonna get a lot of backlash orrrr start some bad new trend for couples!"

Korra just shrugs. "Hey, I'd like to believe people are smart enough not to try stupid shit like this cause hello," she gestures at herself, "World champion here. What can go wrong?"

Bolin grabs his face again, "Oh boy…"

*Back To Asami*

"And then, believe it or not, Korra actually convinced my whole theater class to perform this surprisingly amazing skit… at least until Korra came basically crashing down from the ceiling wearing this mascot uniform with these boxes of roses and chocolates. She made the newspaper's headline as the 'crane who dropped love' believe it or not."

"The crane who dropped love?" The host repeats.

"Yup," Asami confirms before laughing. "Horrible and cringey right? And before you ask, yes, yes I did tease the heck out of Korra for that. You should've seen her face when she chased me through the quad for it. It was hilarious!"

Laughing along at her story, the host starts applauding their hands. "Well, now that's a sight I wish I could've seen!"

"You're telling me, I wish someone recorded that before that has to be one of my favorite memories from college. Oh! And there was also this time when Korra—"

A sudden whistling and thunk silences Asami. Her eyes widen and she twitches before realizing she was almost shot in the face. With an arrow. She turns to inspect the arrow in the wall before noticing a message that was tied onto it before another arrow is shot but lands right in front of her, on the table this time. Her lips parted to say something but the host beat her to it.

"What in the world? What is going on?" The host looked completely stunned by the gesture and most of the staff followed in their steps.

Asami reaches out to grab the arrow that was shot first and yanks it out from the wall. She then reads the note before smiling somewhat. Obviously, it had to have been Korra even though she shouldn't be in town right now?

"Can someone tell me what's going on?!" The host exclaims again, worried for Asami's safety.

Frowning at the sudden serious situation that came up, Asami quickly raises her hand up. "Oh no it's okay, it's just from—"

Another arrow is shot which makes everyone but Asami jump.

She groaned at the incoming trouble and apologizes they'd had to do to the cast later. "Yours truly… my ohhh so wonderful and beloved girlfriend." She explains in a half-serious and half-sarcastic manner.

Based on the content of Korra's message, Asami could have figured out what she was playing at. They've talked about how they should come out to the public that they were engaged but this was not how Asami had envisioned it would go down. That's why she purposely ignored her on purpose. That must've irked Korra off somewhat because the next thing they knew, Korra shoots an arrow with a string attached to it but more specifically, a banner which clearly everyone could see the contents of. Especially the cameras that were filming them.

It read: be mine forever?

At last, finally, Korra comes out into the open, but, of all places she could choose from, she chose from above.

"Hey Sami!"

While everyone else seemed a little too worked up in her opinion, Asami just cocks an eyebrow at her fiancé.

"W-What in the? Miss Korra? What are you doing here today? And here of all places?!" The host then looks at the staff, "Why didn't no one tell me?"

Most of the staff shrugged in denial while the producer just threw up a sign. The host reads it before explaining to the live audience steaming the show.

"It seems that Miss Korra wanted to surprise Miss Asami so decided to stop in as a super super last-minute guest."

Asami finally caught the attention of Bolin who was standing on the rafters. He looked like he was pleading for forgiveness and Asami just shook her head subtly at him. At this point, Korra was finally (safely) on the floor as she quickly took off the harness and walked over to Asami's side. She then gives her a kiss on the cheek before thanking one of the staff for bringing her a chair. But, before Korra could get out a word, Asami smacks her arm.

"Ow—"

"Korra… what are you doing?" Asami half whispers at her but is still caught by the mic.

She rubs her arm with a pout before answering. "I got an early flight back and wanted to surprise you for Valentine's Day duh!" She gives Asami a big and sleazy grin as if she was expecting Asami to praise her.

Asami was still smiling but rolled her eyes nonetheless. She smacks her arm again before nodding towards the table with two arrows impaled in it. "And you had to shoot up the set?"

Korra throws her a wink, "I wanted to make an impression." She finally turns to face the host, "Sorry about the holes! I'll reimburse you with a new one later."

Snapping out of their funk, the host continues on with the show. "Oh no no no! It's a real honor to have our esteemed medalist pay us a visit let alone mark our set! Thanks for joining us!" They then turn to the camera, "You see that folks! Not only is Asami Sato giving us some company but also Korra Seaton! The one and only gold medal archery champion and our lovely actress' girlfriend nonetheless!"

They finally turn to take a peek at the messages Korra left. Asami notices that and attempts to hide one of them but fails for the banner one Korra had shot. The host quickly beats Asami to it by asking her a question.

"Not if you don't mind me asking Korra, what do you mean by 'be mine forever' on that banner right there?"

Korra immediately grins at them before facing Asami with some mesmerized eyes. "Mmhhhh… well that's…" she leans in closer to her girlfriend before throwing her a wink. "My confession of course!"

Asami lets her eyes roam down to Korra's lips before brushing her off. "You're such a cheesy dork." Her girlfriend immediately grins before the host speaks up.

"Just look at how cute these two are y'all! For the sake of Valentine's Day, what is your answer Miss Asami?"

In response to their question, Asami smiles softly before turning to face Korra real quick. She then pecks her lips before answering, "I've been hers for a long time now."

Clapping their hands in excitement, the host starts gushing a bit. "I really do love you two! You're both such an icon and I love your love!" They then glance back at that banner, "Now… I'm afraid I must do our viewers some justice. We all know that you two have been dating for such a long time already ever since your secret was out several months ago so excuse me if I'm overstepping my boundaries but… is there a deeper meaning behind those words?"

Korra faces the host before giving them a lopsided grin. She then faces Asami before hinting, "I'll let the love of my life answer that question."

Asami's eyebrow immediately twitches and she gives Korra this sharp look. One sigh later, she faces the host before easing in. "Well… it just means that Korra's such a dork for stating the obvious. I don't think I'll ever fall out of love with her and she'll forever have my heart. She means the world to me and so much more. She is my greatest pride and I treasure her jokes, her sporadic gestures, her friendship, and much much more." She then grabs a hold of Korra's hand. "Geez, I didn't want to be this cheesy on camera but since we're already gone there, it's the truth. I wouldn't be who I am today without her."

They look each other in the eyes again before pecking each other's lips.

"Love you~"

"Love you too dork."

The host finally claps their hands. "What a beautiful couple you two are! Anyways, as much as I'd love to continue, it's time for a commercial break so stay tuned for more!"

And that was how in the near future, they all had been clickbaited for all the best reasons out there by their beloved queens. And little did they know that Korra actually started a trend for dramatic proposals. Most of which were chaotic enough to get Asami to slap Korra every now and then. Of course… This was another story to tell.
