*I've never written a fanfiction before, So this is my first one! I was watching 'Friends' the other day, and they mentioned Chandler and Monica's first date so I thought it might be fun writing about it. I really love this couple so I will be posting some more about them.
Lastly, I do not own any of these characters. I hope you enjoy it! reviews are welcomed!
1. The take off
Chandler hurried saying " Joey, I'm going out for dinner tonight. u sure your fine?" "Oh yeah sure~" Joey moved towards him asking "Date night with a woman? Well, what's she like?" "Sh-shes aaa great!...she's really pretty.." His mind pictured Monica in a red dress. The dress she wore at Ross's wedding. She looked fabulous that night. He couldn't believe that he was actually gonna have dinner with the woman and not as a friend. Then he realized he was smiling too much. " I'm happy for you, dude. You haven't gone out for what, like-" Joey was counting his fingers. Chandler waited emotionlessly. " Well, I won't be going out on a date for another QUADRILION- YEARS, IF U KEEP COUNTING AND THE WOMAN THINKS I'M NOT COMMING." Chandler said sarcastically. " Oh I'm sorry man, go have fun and hey, feel free to bring her here. I'm not bringing anyone tonight" Chandler got little nervous and quickly said "Oh, W-We're just having dinner." "Oh, okay but you're gonna bring her later, right? I kinda want to see her." Joey said trying to picture the hot woman. Watching him he was again, nervous. He wasn't comfortable thinking of how their friends would react when they find out about them. "I a..-think I'm late, bye-" he pretended not to hear Joey's words and left rushing out.
'Oh godd- she will be angry. What if she doesn't wanna go out with me anymore? 'Well, what is there to think, dushbagg! beg her to give you one more chance-' voices in his head squabbled. 'Oh finally we're here. Too bad that we have to make a reservation far from our apartment.' he hastily went in. His eyes searched through fancy-dressed people. Then found Monica at the table in the corner. Usually Monica never sat in the corner, but it was clear she wanted a private talk with him, meaning she was longing for him as he as much as he was for her. He felt terrible. He quickly moved to the table. "I am sooo- sorry Monica, But Joey wouldn't let me go!" Monica looked up looking surprised and a little upset, but also happy too. Not realizing it, he kept talking "I mean, he kept asking questions -what's the girl like-" "Um, Chandler?" Monica said feeling the attention for them. " Will you just calm down and sit,?" "You know a lot of people here are staring at us." "Oh, right..." Chandler quickly sat. "So umm.. ur mad at me right?" he asked in a confidentless voice avoiding her eyes. "Chandler, look at me. Yes, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't, but it's okay now. I understand. Now let's just have dinner. It's our first date." Monica made a small smile. Chandler with his boyish smile answering "Okay.". Monica loved his cute smile. It was the smile that he only showed her. It comforted her. Then Chandler spoke first. "So you want a proper date?" She knew he was up to something, something to make her feel better. Chandler always knew how to do that very well. " I'll start first." "Heyy-hey~ I'm ChANdleR." He made a silly face using his fake voice. It was the guy who hit on her at the beach house. Monica laughed with fixing her eyes on him. "Hi, I'm Monica. I'm so familiar with you. Have we met?" She joined him. Now Chandler laughed.
As they were chatting, the food they ordered came out. Drinking wine, he asked "so um, what do you do?" he enjoyed acting like they didn't know each other. It felt very fresh meeting Monica, not as his best friend's little sister. "Well, I'm a chef. I work at a restaurant a few blocks away. I'm in charge of all the stuff going around in the kitchen." Monica enjoyed this little game of theirs too. Seeing the real Chandler, she couldn't understand why he wasn't popular with the ladies. He was very gentle and attractive. "How about you?" "Oh it's just something to do with computers," he playfully said feeling Monica's gaze, "To be exact. I work at the department of statistical analysis and data reconfiguration. And yes, you may laugh." He flapped his tie in annoyance. Monica laughed watching him. "No, I think it's cool. Good at math seems pretty sexy." "Really?" he looked up at her. "Yeah, I usually hate it when my brother talks about paleontology stuff. But I like you talking about your computer thing."
After the meal, they had dessert. They stared deep into one another's eyes. He thought she was absolutely gorgeous. Her new red dress made her collarbone stand out. His sight caught the beautiful curve of her body underneath the dress. His mind was taken back to the night in London. Monica was upset about someone thinking she was Ross's mom. Which lead to Monica kissing him. He didn't feel weird kissing her. He still hadn't figured out why, but he was realizing he might've been in love with her, from a long time ago. Meanwhile, Monica's thoughts were heading to London, too. The night she was upset, Chandler joked that someone once mistook him as Leonardo DiCaprio in titanic to make her feel better. Also saying she is the most beautiful woman in most rooms. When she kissed him she didn't know what she was feeling, though now she was starting to really fall for him. Or maybe she already had since the beginning. After all, he was her first love. Minutes and hours passed and they talked with a honey-glazed stare.
2. In the sky
"I had such a great time tonight, do u mind if we do this again?" Chandler asked continuing the play of them not-knowing-eachother. He moved his hands towards hers. Monica held his hands " Of course, I had a lot of fun tonight, too. And thanks for dinner." She smiled. He smiled back. " My pleasure." They walked towards their flat and knew they had to break apart. None of their friends were supposed to know about them. Just imagining how Ross would act if he knew about him and his sister, chills swept through Chandler's body. When there was one block left, Monica turned and faced Chandler. Clearly, he had no idea why she stopped. Monica looked at her boyfriend with want. He could see the eagerness beneath her eyes. He knew that he himself wanted her badly, too. Next second he was drawn into her, their faces close enough to feel one another's breath. Monica made the first move. Slowly closing her eyes, she made herself accessible to him. Chandler felt his heart beat rapidly. He was afraid she might hear his heart. Usually, his commitment-phobia would ruin the romantic mood. But this time he wouldn't let it win. Tilting his head, he softly cupped her face. The lips met and soon turned to a passionate kiss. They could feel the warmth from each others lips. Chandler felt his blood rushing through his veins upside down. Monica felt her face heat up despite the cold weather. Separating for the need of oxygen, the couple locked eyes. Both knew it was time to turn to Monica and Chandler who lives just across the hall. "I think we should get home now." Monica said with a voice lacking strength. "Yeah." Chandler sighed.
3. Departure
"I guess we're here." Monica looked up at the apartment. A light was coming out the window. "You can go in first, I'll follow you a few minutes later." He said. Monica took her first step but didn't move further. she hesitently stood there, then turned to him. "I don't want to be just Monica and Chandler." Hearing his girlfriend's cute complaint, chandler walked up to her and stroke her head. He looked her in the eye and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead. "I know." Monica gave him a smile and went upstairs. Waiting for her to get inside, he stood in the dark. Only the moonlight lit the street. For the first time in his life, he was sure that this relationship was gonna last. It was a relationship that might end up with something special. Chandler looked up at Monica's apartment window to see if the light was on.
From the balcony Monica looked down at Chandler. She was worried if he would catch a cold, waiting for her to get in first. 'Next time, I'll make him go first.' thought Monica. The cold moonlight would reflect itself on chandler making him glow in the dark. As for her she never thought she would date him or ever be in a relationship with him. Not because he was not a boyfriend/husband material, but because of their position as friends. Monica actually was very happy dreaming about a future with him. After all those years of knowing him she found out more factors about him tonight. She wanted to get to know him better.
"Monica, honey. What are you doing out there? Aren't you cold?" Rachel's voice swept in her thoughts. "I'm okay. I just wanted some fresh air!" Replied Monica, looking at the empty street since Chandler had gone in his apartment. "Huh? Haven't you been outside all these hours? I mean, you just came in." "Yeah.. Anyways, I was about to get inside." she said as she left the terrace.
"Hey, Joe." Said Chandler as he dropped his key on the kitchen table. Since no answers came back, he walked across the living room, reaching for Joey's room door. He slightly turned the door nob to see if his friend was asleep. Sure enough, Joey was holding his bedtime pall- 'Hugsy' tight under the covers. He was smiling as he spoke "Chandler, I left a pizza for you, just in case ur date didn't work out for ya.." in his sleep. Chandler couldn't but smile replying "Thanks, man".
