EDIT: THIS CHAPTER HAS BEEN REWRITTEN TO FIX ERRORS AND IMPROVE CONTENT.

The episode opened on a lovely day somewhere in the middle of the ocean.

In the background, you could see the bright, golden sun and scattered clouds on beautiful, blue sky. In the foreground was a wooden dock, worn with use and a telltale sign of habitation.

A smiling man then popped into view.

He was a handsome man, with shaggy, black hair and had a good amount of stubble on his chin. He was dressed in a casual outfit more suited for the outdoors, you could tell it was of the highest quality nonetheless.

"Yo!" he started. "We're coming at ya live from Jabberwock Island, somewhere in Tokyo, Japan! I'm your host, Chris McLean, dropping season one of the hottest new reality show on television, right now!"

Walking down the dock, Chris continued on with the explanation. "Here's the deal: twenty-two campers have signed up to spend eight weeks right here on this island. They'll compete in challenges against each other, then have to face the judgment of their fellow campers. Every three days, one team will either win a reward, or watch one of their own make their way down the Dock of Shame, board the Boat of Losers,"

A picture of said boat dropped down from ropes, and Chris chuckled.

"And leave Total Drama Island...for good."

With that, the scene changed, and a beach could now be seen.

Off to the far left, the shore of the ocean was visible. To the right of that, sat twenty-two log stumps and to the right of them—a small campfire pit. And, finally, off to the far right, stood an upright oil drum—most likely intended to be used as a podium of some sort.

"Their fates will be decided here," Chris continued, popping back into view, "at the dramatic campfire ceremonies, where each week, all but one camper will receive...a marshmallow."

Chris then walked over to the oil podium, where a plate of marshmallows now sat. He picked one up and ate it. "In the end, only one will be left standing, and will be rewarded with cheesy tabloid fame, and a small fortune—which, let's face it, they'll probably blow in a week."

The camera then showed various shots of other cameras set up in rather unconventional places, such as in a bird's nest, or taped to a statue of a cartoon-ish looking bear.

"Every moment will be caught on one of the hundreds of cameras situated all over the island. Who will crumble under the pressure? Find out here, right now on...

Total...

Drama...

Island!"

[Several shots of the lights hidden around the island could be seen popping out and turning on, often at the expense of the wildlife. The camera then zoomed through the island, starting at the docks, past the main island's facilities, and over the top of Chris drinking coffee in a director's chair.]

Dear Mom and Dad, I'm doin' fine,

[The camera flew through the trees and up to the cliff, peeking over to show the two rings of buoys laid out in the water.]

You guys are on my mind!

[The camera dived off the cliff and underwater. There, Komaru was could be in a green bikini, swimming. Suddenly, she spotted a shark coming towards her. Panicking, she tried to swim upwards, just as a fishing line hooked onto her bikini top.]

You asked me what I wanted to be,

And now I think the answer is plain to see!

[The camera then cut up to the surface, where Rantaro was sitting in a canoe. He was reeling something in something seemingly heavy. Eventually, Komaru surfaced and grabbed the side of the canoe with a terrified look on her face, and Rantaro giving her an embarrassed smile in return.]

I wanna be...famous!

[The camera then cut and panned down to Sayaka and Makoto, who were playing volleyball at the beach. Makoto served the ball to Sayaka, who hit it back. It went flying back to Makoto, hitting him in the head and effectively sending him to the ground. The camera panned over to show Hiyoko witnessing the scene and cackling, and Junko, raising an eyebrow at her with an unimpressed look.]

I wanna live close to the sun!

[The camera zoomed to another part of the island, showing Kaede and Kaito sitting in an inflatable raft and about to go over a waterfall. However, they were too busy talking to each other, which lead to them screaming as they fell over the edge.]

Well pack your bags, cause I've already won!

[The camera panned down, showing Tenko on a log, suspended in mid-air between two rocks. Too occupied with practicing her neo-aikido moves, she missed Kaede and Kaito falling behind her. Yasuhiro, who suddenly appeared out of nowhere - and was holding on to dear life on a vine - collided with Tenko, sending the two flying.]

Everything to prove, nothin' in my jump and.

[The camera rapidly panned to follow Tenko and Yasuhiro until they eventually slammed into a confessional booth. The impact caused Mikan to fly out.]

I'll get there one day!

[The camera then panned over to the restaurant, where it moved in to show a smirking Chef, arm deep in a large pot of something sickly green. He looked behind him to where Shuichi and Kazuichi were sitting at a table, both tied up with rope. The two shared a nervous glance.]

Cause I wanna be...famous!

[The camera panned over to show Celeste and Kirumi having a conversation whilst drinking tea.]

(Na-na, nananananana nanana-nanaa na-nananananaa)

The camera zoomed out through a window and past the cottages, where Mondo was working on a motorcycle, to show the dock. There, Kokichi was poking an irritated Maki, who sat at the edge, who finally decided she had enough and grabbed his arm, flipping him into the water. Toko watched this with a roll of her eyes.]

I wanna be! I wanna be! I wanna be famous! (Na-na, nananananana nanana-nanaa na-nananananaa)

[The camera panned over to the other side of the dock, where Ryoma was looking up the morning sky.]

I wanna be! I wanna be! I wanna be famous! (Na-na, nananananana nanana-nanaa na-nananananaa)

[The morning sky then changed to nighttime, before panning down to reveal Ibuki and Leon sitting at the campfire pit, while they played the last riff of the theme song on electric guitars. The camera then zoomed out to show the rest of the campers also sitting around the campfire, along with Chris.]

Episode One, Part One: Not-So Happy Students

"Welcome back to Total Drama Island!" Chris greeted, who stood back on the docks. "Alright. It's time to meet our campers."

As if on cue, the first boat arrived. A girl with choppy, uneven plum-purple hair stepped onto the dock. Her outfit consisted of a pale pink top and pale blue skirt, all worn under an apron, along with pale pink socks and white shoes. In addition, she had quite a few bandages on her arms and legs.

"Mikan! What's up?" Chris greeted loudly, causing the girl to jump.

"Sorry!" Mikan frantically apologized. "I-I should've been paying more attention! Please forgive me!"

After an awkward beat, Chris told the girl to stand at the other end of the dock, which she quickly complied to.

The next boat then arrived, and the next contestant hopped off. He had bright, pink hair - although, most of it was covered by the grey beanie he wore on his head. He wore a bright yellow-ish green jumpsuit with a pair of worn-out sneakers.

"Kazuichi!" Chris introduced. "Welcome to the show, man!"

"Chris McLean!" the teen now known as Kazuichi, exclaimed. He and the host exchanged a high-five. "How's it going, man?"

After the greeting, Kazuichi went to stand next to Mikan. When the two locked eyes, he gave the girl a friendly but nervous smile.

However, the shark-sharp teeth he possessed scared Mikan, causing to jump (again). This time, however, she tripped and fell back, taking Kazuichi with her as they fell into the waters behind them.

Chris snickered at the sight before returning his attention to the third contestant who had just arrived. "Yo, Mondo!"

Mondo sported a large, brown pompadour. His outfit consisted of a wife-beater worn under a long, black jacket, along with baggy pants and white shoes. He was also very tall and muscular, which made him an intimidating competitor—physically, at least.

As Mondo made his way to the other end of the dock, he gave a drenched Kazuichi and Mikan—who were now back on the dock—an odd look.

Just then, the next boat arrived, dropping off a girl this time. She had long, strawberry blonde hair tied up into twin ponytails, each one being held up with a white bunny clip and a red-and-white bow, respectively. Her outfit consisted of a black shirt with a loose, white tie, red miniskirt, and black high-heeled boots.

"Hi!" She greeted, sticking up a piece sign. "I'm Junko Enoshima! Charmed, I'm sure."

"W-Wait, you're Junko Enoshima?" Mikan confirmed. "I think I've seen you in some of the magazines I read!"

Junko winked. "You a fan?"

"Ye-"

Suddenly, Mikan got pushed aside by Kazuichi—who presumably wanted to get a closer look at the fashionista—sending her into the waters yet again. "Wow, you're pretty!"

"Thanks!" Junko replied, seemingly unfazed by what just happened. "You look flashy! That outfit totally complements your hair!"

Kazuichi beamed harder, if that was even possible. "Oh, wow! My first compliment from a girl!" Realizing what he just said, he immediately tried to backtrack. "Wait, no-"

Mondo snorted. "Loser."

"Wha- Hey! I'm not a loser!" Kazuichi tried to defend himself. "I-I just like being appreciated from time to time, that's all!"

Mondo rolled his eyes, clearly unconvinced. "Whatever you say, buddy."

Before Kazuichi could protest again, the next boat pulled up to the dock, dropping off yet another girl. She had short, brown hair and desaturated green eyes, and wore a standard school uniform with turquoise knee-high socks, and brown shoes.

Enthusiastically, she pointed at the host. "Chris McLean, right? I'm Komaru Naegi. It's nice to meet you!"

"Hey, Komaru!" Chris greeted. "How was the boat ride?"

"Oh, it was great! If that was only the ride, I can't wait to see what else is in store!"

"We've got a keener, huh?" Chris commented, before lowering his voice. "We'll see how long that lasts."

Komaru must have heard that last part, though, as she sweat-dropped before making her way to the end of the dock.

The next boat arrived, and another girl hopped off. She had dark green twintail braids decorated with various hair accessories. She wore a light blue crop-topped uniform with knee-high white socks and sandals.

"Hey, everyone!" Chris announced. "It's-"

"HIYAH!" Tenko yelled, cutting the host off. "My name is Tenko Chabashira, and I'm here to win! Oh, and I also practice neo-aikido!"

"Okay, I have no idea what that is, but it sounds really cool," Komaru commented. "Can you show us?"

"Of course!" Tenko agreed. "Anything for a girl!"

And so, Tenko performed her aikido moves, even getting some applause from the other campers. "HIYAH!" She finished by grabbing Kazuichi's arm and flipping him onto the dock. Hard.

"Ow!" Kazuichi yelped, running his now-aching back. "What the heck was that for?!"

"A degenerate male like you deserved it!" Tenko tried to justify.

"Oh my goodness! A-Are you okay?!" Mikan cried, rushing over to check for any major injuries.

"Damn, say goodbye to your back, buddy," Mondo cringed.

Even through all of the commotion, a timid voice managed to cut through it all.

"Um, am I interrupting something...?"

Everyone looked up to see that the next contestant had arrived—a boy who wore a dark, striped jacket with matching dark pants, and black shoes.

His golden eyes practically shrunk with fear when he finally noticed everyone was staring at him. Averting his gaze, he pulled down the black baseball cap he wore over his short, navy blue hair.

"Everyone, this is Shuichi," Chris announced.

"Um...er..." The boy attempted to speak again, but it fell flat. So, instead, he scurried to the other end of the dock, eyes glued to the ground the entire time.

Chris scratched his head in confusion. "...Okay. And here's Kirumi."

A taller girl with short, grown hair and green eyes gracefully exited her boat. She wore a black maid's dress with black socks and pinwheel shoes.

"Welcome to camp, Kirumi," Chris greeted.

She bowed. "Greetings. It is a pleasure to be here."

"Geez, someone's formal," Junko commented jokingly.

Kirumi chuckled. "Well, I have to be. My current profession requires it."

Junko raised an eyebrow. "Really? What do you do?"

"I work as a part-time maid."

Junko cocked her head at that, but did not press on further.

The next contestant to arrive was a brooding girl, with dark brown hair tied back into pigtails with red scrunchies. She wore a red and black traditional school uniform with red thigh-highs and brown ankle boots.

"Maki," Chris introduced.

Instead of offering any sort of greeting, the girl silently huffed and made her way to the dock. Chris only shrugged in response.

When the next boat arrived, the contestant boarding it was apparently slow to get off. The contestants and Chris stood awkwardly on the dock for a few moments more.

"Ahem?" Chris called out. "Ibuki! You can come down now!"

Another few moments, later the girl, Ibuki, hopped out onto the dock.

She had black-and-white dyed hair, with pink-and-blue dyed bangs—the top of her head was also done up to look like horns. She wore a colorfully-decorated school uniform, along with ripped thigh-highs—one pink, the other blue. In addition, she wore various accessories such as piercings and rings.

With a nervous giggle, she scratched the back of her head. "Sorry about that. Ibuki was tuning her guitar!" She waved the electric guitar she held in her hands, before setting it down next to her on the dock.

She then started to perform some poses. "I-buki Mio-da! Put it together and what do you get? Ibuki Mioda!"

"Loving the energy," Chris complimented. "Now go stand with the others as punishment for making us wait on you."

"That's a can-do!" Ibuki exclaimed, not seeming fazed in the slightest at the comment as she did.

Soon after, the next boat arrived, and another girl was dropped off. She had dark hair tied into two, long braids and wore circular-rimmed glasses. Her look was completed with long-sleeved traditional uniform with a longer-than-average skirt.

"Toko," Chris greeted. "Welcome to the island."

Toko didn't respond with any sort of greeting, which resulted in an unwitting staring contest between her and the other contestants. After a few, awkward moments, the girl finally spoke in an accusing tone:

"Wh-Why are you all looking at me at th-that?! It's b-because you think I'm u-ugly, don't you?!"

"...Girl, what?" Junko spoke, voicing the thoughts of pretty much everyone.

"Don't even tr-try to deny it! I know the tr-truth!"

With that, Toko made her way to the other end of the dock, purposely distancing herself from the rest of the contestants.

Another boat arrived, and a smaller boy with dark purple hair hopped off. He wore a long-sleeved white shirt that had colorful pins attached to it, with white pants and white shoes. His outfit was complete with a white-and-black checkerboard scarf.

"Heya!" the boy greeted, a mischievous grin on his face. "I'm Kokichi Ouma! Nice to meetcha! ...But, not really. That was just a lie."

His greeting was met with confused looks, eye-rolls, or just straight-up silence. Kokichi didn't seem to be fazed by it, however, as he just kept walking down to the other end of the dock.

The next boat arrived, dropping off a girl, who looked more like a child, thanks to her short height and build. She had long, blonde pigtails held up by green cat bows, and wore a bright orange kimono and sandals.

"Hey, Hiyoko..." Chris started, looking down at her. "Are you sure you're old enough to be competing on a show like this?"

"Well, duh!" Hiyoko snapped. "You can check my birth certificate if you don't believe me."

"Right..." Chris replied, though his tone of voice suggested that he probably didn't fully believe that. "Well, go stand with the others."

Hmphing, Hiyoko made her way to the other end of the dock, but not before stopping in front of a certain contestant. "What are you looking at, pig barf?"

"N-Nothing!" Mikan yelped, averting her gaze away from Hiyoko. "I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have been looking!"

"Yeah, you better be," Hiyoko smirked before continuing on to the other end of the dock.

The next boat pulled up and dropped off a boy with with purple, spiky and a small goatee. His outfit consisted of white shirt worn under a thin, while jacket worn under a big, purple jacket with a space-themed pattern on the inside—complete with purple pants and slippers.

"Hey!" he spoke, his voice booming. "I'm Kaito Momota, Luminary of the Stars! Great to be here."

"Kaito!" Chris greeted. "Welcome to the island, man!"

"Thanks, man!" Showing off a cheesy grin, Kaito made his way to the other end of the dock.

"Welcome, Celestia," Chris greeted as he helped the next camper off the boat.

Celestia had raven-black hair done up in fancy-looking twin drills. She was dressed in elegant-looking goth lolita clothing, and wore various accessories such as a sharp-looking ring on her index finger, and gold earrings.

She flashed an innocent smile at Chris. "Thank you. But, please, call me Celeste." Getting a look at her surroundings, she continued with, "Oh my, what a beautiful island. I could get used to living here."

The next boat arrived, dropping off yet another contestant with dark skin and brown dreadlocks, who was dressed in baggy, casual clothing and sandals.

"Yo!" he waved, giving a lazy smile. "The name's Yasuhiro Hagakure. Back at home, I'm pretty much the Ultimate Clairvoyant. I've got an accuracy of a whopping thirty percent!"

"Um, I don't think you realize how little that is..." Komaru pointed out.

Yasuhiro chuckled. "If you don't believe me, I can give you a reading right now."

Komaru gave him a look. "Um, no thanks..."

The next contestant on-deck was a shorter boy with spiky, brown hair and hazel eyes. His clothing was rather casual and average with his green hoodie, black jacket and pants, with red shoes. He flashed the contestants a shy, but earnest smile.

"Makoto!" Chris greeted. "Welcome to your new home for the next eight weeks!"

"Thanks," Makoto replied, giving a smile and nod before joining the others at the end of the dock.

"Makoto!"

Someone patted him on the back, and he craned his neck to see that it was Komaru. His small grin grew wider. "Komaru?"

Junko raised an eyebrow. "You two know each other?"

Makoto nodded, and gestured to Komaru. "Komaru is my little sister."

Junko looked between the two, as that statement was a bit hard to believe—Komaru was taller and looked mature than her brother. But, eventually, she just settled on smiling politely and giving a nod. "Ah."

Another boat arrived, and a girl exited. She had shoulder-length blonde hair, which was decorated with small music note-shaped pins. Her love of music continued to show through her clothing as she wore a purple skirt with black music notes on it, worn with a purple vest over a white shirt. Her look was completed with knee-high purple socks, brown shoes, and a white backpack with a small piano chain hanging off of it.

"Hello!" she smiled, waving at everyone. "My name is Kaede Akamatsu. It's nice to meet you all!" She then took a closer look at her surroundings, before turning to Chris. "Whoa, you didn't say that we were gonna be staying on the Jabberwock Island!"

"Well, now you know," was what Chris replied with, along with a knowing smile.

The next contestant had a striking look, similar to Ibuki's with his fiery-red hair, matching goatee, and various tongue and ear piercings. He wore a white shirt under a white jacket, and black pants. "Yo, the name's Leon Kuwata."

"Yo, Leon!" Chris greeted, holding up his hand for a fist-bump. "What's up, man? Great to have you here."

"Thanks, man," Leon replied, walking to return the fist-bump. "It's great to be here."

Continuing with his journey to the other side of the dock, he grinned and finger-gunned at some of the girls in the process. Some reacted with giggles or friendly waves, while others didn't react at all.

The third-to-last boat arrived, dropping off a very small (yes, even smaller than Hiyoko), guy. He wore a black, pointed hat with a black leather jacket, black-and-blue striped pants, and black shoes.

"Hey," he greeted in an unexpectedly deep voice, catching a few weird looks.

"Ryoma, everyone!" Chris introduced.

"Jesus, you're fuckin' short," Mondo commented.

"Yeah," he replied, as if he got this comment a lot—which let's be honest, he probably did—while flipping the candy cigarette he had in his mouth.

With that, he went and stood with the others, but the weird looks didn't go away—at least, until the next boat arrived.

The contestant boarding it had short, messy, olive green hair and wore a baggy, striped blue shirt and baggy khaki pants with slip-on shoes. Like some of the other competitors, he had ear piercings and wore various rings on his fingers.

"Hey," he greeted, his voice practically screaming carefree-ness. "What's up?"

"Rantaro," Chris introduced, "how are ya?"

"Doing great, man," Rantaro smiled, looking around. "Great place you got here."

"I know," Chris finger-gunned with a wink.

With one last grin, Rantaro made his way to the other end of the dock.

And that's when the last boat arrived, carrying a pretty girl with long, blue hair. She wore a sailor uniform with blue high-thighs and brown shoes.

"Hi!" she greeted, giving a bright smile.

"And, finally, Sayaka," Chris introduced, turning to the girl. "Welcome to the island. How does it feel to be here?"

"Good," Sayaka replied, looking around. "The island looks nice."

"You look nice, babygirl," Leon flirted, giving her a small smirk and a wink.

"Um, sorry," Sayaka apologized. "Not interested."

Leon blinked. "Oh. Well, no worries." Turning to the side, he let out a soft "crap," while a few others snickered at him.

"First things first!" Chris announced, grabbing everyone's attention. "We need a group photo for the promos. Everyone, on the end of the dock!"

Within the next minute, all twenty-two campers were huddled in a small group. Chris hopped on the boat, and pulled out a camera. "Okay! One! Two! Three—Oops."

Most of the groups smiled faded as they gave him a look.

"Forgot the lens cap," Chris explained. He fixed the issue and postioned the camera again. "Okay, hold that pose! One! Tw—Oh. No, wait. Card's full. Hang on..."

"Can you hurry it up?" Maki snapped.

"Got it! Okay! Everyone say, "Jabberwock!"

"Jabberwock!"

Unfortunately for the contestants, the dock decided to collapse right then and there—thanks to the combined weight—sending all of the campers into the cold waters below. Various groans and screams could be heard.

"Okay guys," Chris announced nonchalantly, completely dry on top of the boat. "Dry off and meet me at the campfire pit in ten."

The scene faded out and back in to show all of the now dried-off campers—and Chris—gathered at the campfire pit on the beach.

"This," Chris began, "is Jabberwock Island, your home for the next eight weeks. The campers sitting around you will be your cottagemates, your competition, and maybe even your friends. Ya dig? The camper who manages to stay on Total Drama Island the longest, without being voted off, will win $100,000...or whatever currency you guys have over here. Anyway, here's the deal: I'm gonna split you into two teams. If I call your name, go stand over there." He pointed off to his right.

"Toko,"

"Shuichi,"

"Kaede,"

"Kaito,"

"Maki,"

"Mikan,"

"Komaru,"

"Rantaro,"

"Kokichi,"

"Ryoma,"

"And Kirumi." Chris tossed the new team a flag, which Kirumi caught. "From this moment on, you will be officially known as..." The flag was green, and bore the image of a gopher that appeared to be yelling. "The Screaming Gophers!"

"Hell yeah!" Kaito exclaimed. "I'm a Gopher!"

"The rest of you, over here," Chris instructed as he pointed to his left. "Celeste."

"Yasuhiro,"

"Makoto,"

"Sayaka,"

"Ibuki,"

"Mondo,"

"Junko,"

"Hiyoko,"

"Leon,"

"And Kazuichi. Move, move, move!" When they gathered, Chris tossed their team flag to Tenko. "You guys will be officially known as..." It was bright red, and bore the image of a bass fish with an angry look on its face. "The Killer Bass!"

"Now that's a rad fucking flag," Leon commented, and a few others on his team nodded in agreement.

"Alright, campers!" Chris continued. "You and your team will be on camera in all public areas during the competition."

CONFESSIONAL - CHRIS:

The scene changed to the inside of a small booth, where light white curtains covered three-fourths of the walls, and a small black bench sat in the middle. Chris sat on the bench, smiling at the camera.

"You will also be able to share your innermost thoughts on tape with video diaries, anytime you want. Let the audience know what you're really thinking, or, just get something off your chest."

CONFESSIONAL - HIYOKO:

Hiyoko had a big smile on her face. "Can you see me, Daddy? Your little girl is gonna win this competition!"

CONFESSIONAL - IBUKI:

Ibuki looked around the confessional excitedly. "Whoah! This is super duper cool! I can't believe I can just...confess stuff here and no one will ever know! Makes me wanna...confess stuff!"

A conflicted expression then crossed her face. "Argh... Back in elementary school, I accidentally pushed a classmate down a flight of stairs and blamed it on another classmate!" She giggled nervously. "Sorry, Himari!" She giggled happily. "Hehe, that rhymed!"

CONFESSIONAL - JUNKO:

"...Well, I'm here. So... I guess I've gotta win this." Her expression turned into an oddly determined look. "...No, I have to win this."

CONFESSIONAL - KOMARU:

She looked at the camera with an uncertain expression. "This should be fun, right? Most of the people here seem pretty cool. I hope I can make friends with at least one of them."

"Alright, any questions?" Chris asked the contestants, not bothering to wait for an answer before continuing. "Cool, let's find your cottages."

The camera cut to the front of a large hotel, where the group was standing around the large pool situated out in front.

Leon whistled. "Sweet place."

"I know, right?" an impressed Kazuichi agreed, looking down the crystal-blue water. "They even have a pool!"

"Welcome to Hotel Mirai, everyone!" Chris announced. "This is where you'll eat, sleep, and maybe even mingle."

"Speaking of sleep, what are the sleeping arrangements?" Kaede asked.

"Yeah," Tenko spoke up, "You aren't gonna put the guys and girls together, right?"

Chris just smiled and redirected the campers' attention to the cottages behind them. "These little cottages right here will be your sleeping quarters during your time on the island. However," he added with a little chuckle, "you've might have noticed that there are only sixteen of them. So, some of you will be bunking with a roommate. At least, until the numbers start thinning."

"Excuse me, Chris?" Kirumi questioned. "Will there be a chaperone of any kind?"

"You're all teenagers," Chris answered. "So, other than myself, you'll be unsupervised. Okay, you all have an hour to unpack and meet me at the restaurant. Starting..." He looked down at the watch he wore on his wrist. "Now!"

With that, the host left the contestants to their own devices.

"Hey," Rantaro spoke, getting Shuichi's attention. "Looks like we're roommates." He pointed to a nearby cottage displaying an 8-bit picture of him and Shuichi's faces.

Shuichi nodded. "I suppose we are."

CONFESSIONAL - SHUICHI:

He shot the camera a nervous glance. "I've never had a roommate, or anything similar before, but... Rantaro seems nice. Maybe it'll work out?"

Junko was in her cottage, getting her stuff set up, when Tenko suddenly burst in, causing her to look out.

"Tenko, right?" Junko confirmed. "Did you need something?"

"I'm your roommate, actually!" Tenko announced cheerfully, setting her luggage down before spotting something. "Whoa, cool poster!" She pointed at a black-and-white poster of a wolf on the wall beside Junko's bed. "What's it for?"

That question seemed to catch Junko off-guard. "Oh, uh, it's for...a band! The Wolves! Ever heard of them?"

Tenko scratched her head. "No... I don't think so. But, wolves are pretty cool, so maybe I'll have to check them out. Thanks, Junko!"

"Yeah, no problem..."

CONFESSIONAL - JUNKO:

She had a cool expression on her face. "Yep, we're gonna get along just fine."

Celestia entered her cottage, only to be greeted by an energetic Ibuki, who was rocking out on her electric guitar.

"Pardon me," Celestia spoke. "What are you doing in my cottage?"

"Your cottage?" Ibuki replied, setting down her guitar on her bed. "Didn't you see the sign? We're roomies!"

Celestia gave the ground a blank stare."...Oh."

CONFESSIONAL - CELESTIA:

"How unfortunate. I got put with a rather...insufferable one. But, it'll be fine. Adaptation is key, after all."

The camera cut to the first floor of the hotel, where Kaito was playing an arcade video game.

"Almost got him..." he muttered to himself as he performed a combo on his opponent.

"Heya, teamie!" a voice exclaimed suddenly, causing Kaito to lose his train of focus—and eventually, the game.

Irritated, he turned to face the voice—Kokichi—who flashed an innocent smile at him. "What do you want?"

"Obviously, I care about the rest of my teammates, and I noticed that you weren't at the cottages with the rest of us. Aren't you supposed to be unpacking?"

"Well, jokes on you," Kaito replied, turning back around as he started up a new game. "I already finished doing that."

"Oh, really?" A devilish smirk formed on Kokichi's face. "Well, since you're really not doing anything... Care to wager? That game you're playing is two-player, y'know."

"...Wager what?"

Kokichi's smirk only grew wider. "If I win, you have to do whatever I say for the rest of the week. If you win, it goes vice-versa."

"...Fine. You've got a deal." Kaito moved over, and not too long after the second game started, the victor was declared.

"Oh my god, you suck at this game!" Kokichi taunted with an exaggerated laugh. "This was my first time playing, too."

"First...time...?" Kaito stammered.

"And guess who has to do whatever I say for the rest of the week?" Kokichi asked, a cocky grin on his face. "Luckily for you, I've decided to spare you from any duties. For now." With that, the smaller boy hopped away, and Kaito stormed off not too long after that.

The camera cut to Rocketpunch Market, a supermarket down the street from the hotel, where Sayaka and Makoto were walking up and down the aisles together.

"So, Makoto," Sayaka started, "tell me about yourself. Since we're teammates, we should get to know each other, right?"

"Oh, um..." Makoto scratched his head. "I'm not...really anyone special."

"Come on, don't say that!" Sayaka lightly pushed him. "You've got to have something unique about you! Everyone does!"

"Well..." Makoto tore his gaze from Sayaka and instead glanced over at a rack of surfboards. "I'd say I'm more...optimistic than most others, I guess."

Sayaka gave him a teasing sile. "See?"

"Well, what about you?"

"Hmm..." Sayaka tapped her chin in thought. "I'd say I have a strong passion for singing and dancing, so... I'm thinking of becoming a pop idol!"

Makoto nodded. "You certainly have the charm for it. You're kind of like-"

"A doll?"

"Huh?" Makoto blinked. "How did you know what I was going to say?"

"I'm psychic!"

"Eh?"

"Kidding! I just have really good intuition."

"Ah..."

CONFESSIONAL - SAYAKA:

A small smile grazed her face. "I don't know... There's just something about Makoto that makes him different from the other boys. Can't put my finger on it, though..."

The camera briefly showed the airport—which was across the street from the market—and the animal ranch—of all things—before showing the second floor of the hotel.

The restaurant and kitchen was located there, along with the campers who stood in a single-file line as a large, buff black man—who went by the name of Chef—stood behind the counter, getting ready to serve the contestants.

"Listen up!" he barked. "I serve it three times a day, and you will eat it three times a day! Grab a tray, get your food, and sit your butts down now!"

"E-Excuse me..." Mikan timidly spoke as Chef scooped a pile of mush onto her tray. "U-Um... Are you sure this is safe for us to e-eat? Like, it has all of the major food groups in it, r-right?"

Instead of answering, Chef just scowled at the girl.

"I-I mean, nevermind!" Mikan scurried off with her tray, whimpering as Chef watched. After she was gone, he gave the next person in line a stern look.

"You! Fashionista! Gimmie your plate."

Junko did so, and he doled out another scoop of the slop.

"Oh, this does not look edible," she grimanced, eyeing the food.

CONFESSIONAL - JUNKO:

"Were they really expecting us to eat that?" She asked, giving the camera a look of disbelief. "I mean, sure, we're teenagers, but we don't deserve to be treated like literal garbage!"

"Next!" Chef yelled at the girl, as a warning to leave.

Eventually, everyone was seated at the tables, poking and prodding at their "food."

"Well, I'm not eating this," Leon announced after some time. "I think I'm gonna head over to that market and see what they have."

But as Leon stood up, a meat cleaver flew past him—narrowly missing his head—and got lodged in the wall in front of him. Everyone in the room stared at him, showing emotions of surprise, confusion, or just outright fear. From across the room, Chef glared at the boy.

"Uuk!" Leon gasped. "I mean—! I'll just...sit down..."

As Leon panickedly sat back down, Chris entered the restaurant.

"Welcome to the restaurant!" he announced. "Eat up, because your first challenge begins," turning around towards the exit, he held up one finger, "in one hour!"

"I wonder what they're gonna m-make us do..." Mikan wondered aloud, as she watched the host leave.

"It's the first challenge, right?" Kaito replied from the seat next to her. "It can't be that hard."

Suddenly, the scene then changed to all twenty-two campers in their bathing suits, standing atop a very, very, very high cliff.

"Oh, fuck."

Author's Note: Hello, readers! Welcome to the first chapter of Total Danganronpa Island! Thanks for giving this fanfic a chance, if this is you're first time here.

Now, if you've been following me for a while, you'll know that the same fanfic had been published here for a while—it's deleted now, though. I didn't like how it was progressing at all, so here I am, with a fresh start!

Updates will most likely be sporadic, because I usually have no motivation to write, plus school and other responsibilities are taking up my time.

Anyway....

1. What do you think of the cast? Anyone you wish was competing instead? Why?

2. Who do you think has "early boot" written all over them?

Hope you enjoyed it! I'll see you in the next episode! Thanks for reading!
