Hayley's pov
"Elijah, if not answering your phone is your plan to get me back for keeping Hope, and worrying the hell out of me. Then well done. I'm here and I'm worried. Now pick up before I ransack this house."
"Mom," Hope calls, and immediately I dial down my rage.
"Yes, sweetheart."
"Have you seen uncle Elijah, he promised me that he'd teach me swimming this afternoon. He actually said he'd teach me just yesterday," she whined.
"You have your fathers manners," I shook my head in mock disapproval.
"I have your temper though," she said pouting.
"I'm starting to think it's a lot more like your fathers than mine," I quip.
"But since Elijah doesn't just go around breaking promises," I said losing any warmth in my tone, "Elijah isn't just any vampire and he doesn't break promises, which means Niklaus has done something dastardly, and Klaus like Klaus! Get out here and tell me where Elijah is you backstabbing narcissistic wanker."
"Enough with all the shouting, little wolf. I should have known. I assume the six dead vampires were your doing."
"They were very rude. Victimising a poor girl looking for Elijah. So sorry, were they friends of yours, oh wait, that's right, you don't have any friends."
"I do have friends," he said defensively.
"I don't care if you do or don't. Elijah promised Hope to teach her how to swim and I haven't seen him in two days. What did you do to him."
"Perhaps he's on holiday?" he says toyingly.
"Why would he go without us?" Hope asked innocently at our sides. I don't think either of her had remembered her presence in all of this.
"Maybe he's just taking a nap upstairs," he smiles at her.
"I'll go find him," she glees.
He smiles lovingly at her before turning his attention to his vibrating phone.
"Where are you going," I asked annoyed.
"It appears the night isn't over yet, I'm off for another drink with marcel."
"I know you have a plan to take apart Marcel's empire piece by piece, I just don't remember it including you two drinking New Orleans dry together."
"I know you don't have many friends Hayley, but what some friends do when they get together is they drink, and when they drink, they tell secrets, marcel has somehow found a way to control the entirety of witches in the quarter and I aim to uncover the how so that I may take it for myself. Finding my brother didn't make my to-do list today," he smiled menacingly.
"Well, when can we expect you to start caring about family exactly?" I put my hands on my hips exuberantly.
"Right now," he drew his lips tightly. "I'm going to say goodbye to my daughter and then like I said, have a drink with marcel. But until then, feel free to look around the house for him, I'm guessing you haven't yet considered that maybe, my brother has developed some common sense not to sleep with my crazy ex."
Before I could respond he rushed upstairs at vampire speed.
Hope's pov
I was upstairs building a pillow fort when dad came into my room looking for me.
"Was there something in the bed?" he asks concerned by the dissaray of of sheets and pillows.
"No," I laugh. "I want to make a cubby house, because uncle Elijah isn't here to teach me how to swim. Where is Uncle Elijah daddy?"
He looked out the window sad. "He's gone to the french quarter for some buinsess Hope. But I, or your mother or any other one of your Aunts or Uncles could teach you," he suggested.
I just shake my head growing returning to my project. "No thank you."
"Don't you want me to teach you?" He asked.
"I don't want to make you mad because your busy. Like back at the graveyard. Uncle Elijah told me that you loved me when you were shouting, just very busy. Uncle Elijah never shouts."
"I see," he said tightly. "Well you enjoy finishing your pillow fort and I'll see you later."
"Okay," I smiled and got up to give him a hug and kiss on the cheek. "I decided I want to have your favourite food for dinner." I hope letting him choose would make him feel happy again.
"I love you sweetheart," he whispers picking me up onto his him to kiss me back. "I'll see you when I get home."
"By daddy," I call after him, running back to my already collapsing sheet.
After another thirty minutes of trying to attach sheet to sheet to wall I realised the futility of what I was doing. There had to be a way to keep this attached. I was a witch, surely there was a spell to make cubby houses right? On the first day of searching I remember coming across a library, where I saw my Aunty Freya, who read to me last night.
"Hi Aunt Freya!"
"Hello Hope," she looked up from her spot on the floor where a circle of salt surround her and a warn book. "Is everything okay?"
"I want you to teach me magic because I need to make a magic cubby house," I smiled.
She looked at me titling her head with a grin, "Did my brother say that was okay?"
"ELijah's missing," I reply innocently.
"My other brother," her smile grows wider.
"Uncle Cole likes magic," I nod my head and she laughs.
"Klaus. You dad. Did he say it was okay?"
"Can I call and ask?" I ask her.
She nods and hands me her unlocked phone. I go to contacts but culdn't find it. "You don't have daddy's phone number," I said quiziclly.
"It's under Klaus," she smiles.
"Oh yeah," I mumble and stick out my tongue in concentration looking for it. "Found it," I chirp, and Freya laughs again.
He answers on the second ring, "Freya, bloody hell one job. Get Elijah back from wherever marcel stashed him, and find the witch Rebecca was ranting about. Is that so hard. Hope doesn't know that I gave her uncle to Marcel, and I'd like to keep it that way and have him home before dark to teach her how to swim. You calling me every five minutes isn't going to accomplish that."
"You gave Uncle Elijah to Marcel," I peeped.
"Hope?" He asked shattered, and Aunt Fraya magically commanded the phone out of my hand across the room and into hers.
"That was not my fault," she seethed at a mellow hush. She waited for a response, "She wanted to call her father because she needed something. Brother your own crulty is your restrictions not me," she hissed and hung up.
The phone vibrated a minute later. Freya just silenced it and slid it away from her. "I'm sorry-"
"I know who my father is," I shook my head. "It's not your fault. I knew about him from the letters my mom wrote to my dad and never sent, from the times my friends parests would talk about the evil Mikaelson family, and my mom new that I was a mikaelson and had to sit through it all. He wasn't anything I haven't already seen or heard about him."
"Hope-"
"Can you teach me magic or not?" I asked wiping the tear from my eye.
"Lets get started," she smiled warily at me.
Klaus pov
"Look, I know you and Klaus were friends, but the fact is since the originals showed up-"
Enough of this I thought. "Oh come now Teirri. Your not still upset about that little toxic wearwolf bite I gave you are you?"
"More so how I got it and don't even remember," he shot back.
"Compulsion is quite a neat little trick."
"I was on vervain," he hissed.
"No after I was through cleaning your toxic blood."
"I see you've given him free rein of your compound too," he said speaking to marcel. My compound!
"Well seeing as my family and I lived here, but the place in fact-"
"Alright," Marcel laughed. A fool. "Come on. You both know the drill. Teriri's my guy, inner circle. Klaus is my old time friend and sire. He's also a guest here." A guest in my own home in MY city! I yelled internally. "Whatcha need my brother?" He asked me, realizing his ie in the mirror which he stood. A mirror surrounded by 10 others in a small yet spacious enough fitting room.
"I'm afraid my sister Rebecca is insisted Elijah's return. She's quite worked up about it." More like Hayley worked up, and Hope wanting him home. And home will get whatever she wants.
"We're not going to have three originals walking around town are we?" Terriri crossed his arms. "Half our guys are losing it over the crazy sister."
"Are you labelling my sister," I grow instantly protective. He nodded like a proud fool. "Against an original!" I damned stepping towards him with the intention to kill.
"Peace brother," Marcel smiles placeing his arms between us. "Come walk with me," he smiled tapping my shoulder.
"Your inner circle man lacks a sense of humor," I remark.
"He's a little guarded," Marcel smiles, "But loyal to a fault. I saved his life back in the 40s. I'm dying of a war wound outside of VA hospital. He would kill for me and he'd die for me. Plus that boy could play the trumpet like you wouldn't believe. I hope I can get him to play some at the part tonight," he said walking down the stair before turning and looking to me. "You're coming right?"
"How could I miss the chance to miss the city council?" And infiltrate and dismember his allegiance.
"Listen. About your brother, I'd love to help you out but Terri's right, my guys are on edge, they see the original family moving in, vampires dying, it makes them nervous. If I hand Elijah back now it might give the wrong impression about who's in charge. You know what I mean?"
"You understand I had to ask," I reply with little amusement.
Freya's pov
I must admit, I'm slightly scared the progress we've made. Simple spells I was learning at 2 she had mastered, which was expected. But Esters spell, book, which she had seen me reading, she too had begun to master. Something I still struggled to control. She had left to go practice along in her room a couple of hours ago. When I walked past her room, she had begun to even scribble in the margins her own adjustments. She scribbled in an almost thousand year old journal.
After I taught her how a spell was made, she picked up as one would pick up baking. Progressivly getting better as practice went on. Except now she needed no practice, now my eight year old niece who I'm just starting to realise has more power in her pinky than any of mys siblings is infact quite dangerous.
Hope's pov
I loved magic. I didn't even need it to make my fort when I could make my own house. Grandma Ester had spells that could make people do things without even wanting to. Ones where I can hold down 100 vampires and still not get tired.
And so, here I was, in the French Quater once again, waiting for Sophie Deverou to meet me at a store called, "Jardin Griss Voodoo shop."
"So glad you could make it," I smiled ficticiously as she approached. "My Uncle Elijah only lays rotting and daggered while you dilly dally."
"Your lucky I came at all," she rolled her eyes. "What do you want."
"I need something to complete a spell, and its in this shop. I didn't think the special things I needed to buy they would sell to an eight year old. So here you are," I smiled and walking into the store.
"I need vervain," I smiled up at the lady at the cash register. "Why would you want that?" she asked looking from me to sophie.
"Do not play dumb with me," I said losing the smile.
"Look I've got some in the back kid, just give me a minute." She mumbled and scurried into the back.
"This is what happened to people who get poinsed from staying around the Mikaelsons for too long," Sophie shook her head.
"Watch yourself witch," I narrowed my eyes.
"We're linked, remember," she shook her head, "you can't hurt me."
"Please," I scoffed. "I unlinked us hours ago with my Aunt Freya."
She shook her head disbelieved, pricking her finger, and when mine didn't bleed she crumble to the floor.
"Don't worry," I said looking away feeln uncomfortable. "I won't tell my dad. He'll still help you get whatever you want."
"Why would you do that?" She asked me.
But I stopped off the the back room where the shop lady had her phone to her ear speaking in hushed tones.
" I gotta go," she mumbled. "Love you," and she hung up.
"Who did you call," I asked raising my voice.
"Listen kid. I don't know who you are, but the vampires run this city."
"As part vampire I'm glad we've established that when I ask you a question, I expect an answer. I'll ask one more time who did you call," I squeeze my fist and she starts clawing at her throat to which I've cut off oxygen from.
After ten seconds of her falling around and gasping for air she says, "I love him."
"Who," I demand.
"Terirri, you said your a vampire which I still don't understand, but if you are, perhaps you know him."
"Him and I had a little misunderstanding when I first got here. Yes. I remember him quite well."
--
"Now, you understand what to do right?" I ask sophie.
"Don't patronize me," she rolled her eyes. "You've been a witch all of five minutes-"
"And we both know I could wipe out your entire coven, but I want my uncle back and people can't know I exist yet. Like I heard my dad telling Aunt Rebecca, once Katie tries to inevitably Terriri, you do a quick locator spell masked by hers and bippity bobity, my uncle returns, and I get home before anyone notices I'm gone. Again."
"Katies about to tap into her magic," she grows serious. "Alot of it."
"Please find my uncle."
"Hold on, there's more magic," she shakes her head. "It's davina, I've never felt anything more powerful, aside from you, but even then, she's getting close. She's going to kill Katie before I finish my spell. We have to get Davina-"
"No. You need to find my uncle!"
"Hope! If we find Davina, then we get Elijah back and there is nobody that can hurt you or your dad or anymore witches, but we have to go now."
"Fine."
Klaus' pov
"Like clockwork," I mused to myself from where I watched the witch start to mutter incantations.
Lights burst and Marcel and his men crumple to the floor.
"No!" A girl with brown hair and a white dress comes to Marcel. So this must be the famous Davina he's been hiding for 8 years. She too starts muttering inanttions and is quick to over power Katie. If she kills katie then I won't earn back marcels trust and this will all be for nothing.
"Give me back my uncle." I scream I know all to familiar as Hopes.
"Hope!" I yell at her, but her and Davina have already made contact.
