Hi, all! Sorry for the delay on chapters, I've been busy working away on other projects, but I haven't forgotten about this one! I also don't have as much access to my PC at the moment, so writing will be slooow, but I'll do what I can and post when I can! Thank you to anyone who's reviewed, favourited, or followed, it means the world to me that someone out there many be enjoying the words that I'm putting down.
It had been three weeks since the vomiting incident and Bella had, for all intents and purposes, been doing really well in school. Her grades weren't the best in the class, but she at least knew what was going on and was actually enjoying the workload.
She and Angela had been out again, but there had been no sign of her mysterious stranger. That being said though, she hadn't gotten quite so drunk since that night, so it was possible that the only memory she had of her wasn't correct way, she had managed to calm down for long enough to keep her cool when going out in public again. Immediately after the incident, she had become insanely anxious about going out and being labelled as the drunk moron who throws up on people, but upon actually going outside, it became clear that no one remembered or cared.
Bella found herself walking from her class, heading to where Angela was with a couple of their new friends. Needless to say, Bella hadn't been the one to make the friends, Angela had, but Bella was thankful all the same. It was nice having a small group again. Their new friends, Jill, Same and Haley, were truly lovely girls.
Walking across campus, Bella enjoyed the sun beating down on her and it made her think for the first time in quite some time about the Cullens. Well, she thought about them often, but never for too long. Honestly, other than Edward, she missed them all. Well, she missed him too a little, but not really. It was an odd thing t feel, especially given how hard she'd taken it when he left after her birthday party. Now all she really felt towards him was a cool, somewhat neutral lack of care. She didn't wish any harm on him, but she also didn't really give much thought to anything that was going on in his life. For all she knew, he was on the other side of the world right now.
Smiling as she entered the coffee shop that her friends were in, she walked to the counter and ordered her drink, waiting, then collecting it before turning to join the others at their table.
Upon turning, however, she found herself spinning smack into someone. "Hey, whoa!" Came a calm, somewhat stern voice.
Bella's breath hitched as panic choked her. "God, I'm so sorry!" She yelped, thankful that her drink hadn't gone all over the soft, grey sweatshirt of whatever poor soul had been in her path. "That was on me, I wasn't looking where I was-" Oh. It's her! And indeed it was. It was her. The very same woman whom Bella had already covered in a drink once before. "-going."
"It's all good." The woman chuckled. Bella didn't know how she would have described her. Was she handsome? Was that an okay way to describe a woman? "So long as you don't throw up on my shoes. I only just got these washed." With a small smirk, Bella decided that this woman was most certainly was handsome.
"Deal." She managed to breathe out, feeling her face flush red with embarrassment. "Sorry." She added for good measure. Then, however, the awkwardness set in. Oh god. What did this woman think of her? She'd probably told everyone about the idiot who had spilled a drink on her and thrown up on her, but now? Now she was the idiot who had almost done it again. Crap.
"So-"
"So-"
"Oh, my bad-"
"Sorry, I-"
"Hey, no, it's-"
"God, sorry-"
"Okay, hold up." Bella stopped talking, wishing a black hole would swallow her whole. "You, uh, you wanna go first?" The woman asked. But wait, was that a blush creeping up her neck? Surely not.
Smiling awkwardly, Bella nodded. "Sure, uh, I was just going to thank you. You know, for before. Then, you know, I was gonna go sit with my friends."
The woman nodded, still smiling. "Cool, cool. Well, I was going to thank you for not ruining my sweater today, I appreciate it. Then I was gonna sit with my friends, too." Oh thank god, Bella thought, they could just go the separate ways and be done with this awkward coffee shop moment.
Nodding quickly, Bella took a step back to allow the woman past, but then the strangest thing happened. She turned the way Bella was going. Upon seeing Bella's undoubtedly confused face, the woman chucked. "Let me guess, I'm not getting rid of you that easy?" She teased, for some reason making Bella blush even more.
"It seems not." She smiled back, wishing she could just go and bury her head in the sand somewhere.
With each step that they both took, Bella became more and more concerned that they were actually going to the same table. It was only when Angela turned and waved at Bella that she realised that Angela's friend from class, Becca, was waving at the other woman.
Fuck!
It was awkward to say the least when they both reached the table at the same time and there was only one free seat, but the woman quickly just went and sat on the lap of Becca, making a couple of the others chuckle. Oh. Were they a couple? For some reason, Bella felt as though she'd been kicked in the chest, but why? She put it down to embarrassment and quickly tucked herself into the chair between Angela and one of the other girls, Rhea.
The girls all chatted amongst themselves, but Bella couldn't get that dull ache out of her chest.
When she and Angela returned to their room, Bella wasn't sure what the hell she was feeling. What she did realise later that day though, was that she's barely given Edward a thought all day long and when she drifted off at night, it wasn't his eyes that she kept on seeing.
I would apologise for this being a tiny little filler chapter, but hey, they have to go somewhere! I'm not sure when I'll be updating next, but I'll do my best even if I'm just posting shot chapters but all the time. So, don't go anywhere!
And please, everyone stay safe during these times!
