The next morning Rocky heard Chase walking by as usual doing his rounds before anyone else was awake. He rolled over and stretched, loosening his joints. We performed his usual routine, go to the tree, clean up his pup house and get ready for the day. He walked into the lookout to see what was for breakfast 'Wow, dog food, what a surprise' thought Rocky. He laughed "I think I'm getting on my own nerves" said Rocky. He walked over his bowl and heard the other pups walking in.

"Morning Rocky," said Marshall

Rocky looked up from his bowl and grunted.

"My aren't we in a good mood" said Everest walking in behind Marshall.

"Hey Dude," said Zuma, bounding into the room, "You ready to go hang out with the college girls?"

Rocky looked up from his bowl. "I actually hoped you had forgotten you asked," said Rocky.

"Nope" said Zuma, beginning to eat "Dead serious. You need to come give it a shot. Even if you don't have any luck, you'll have fun."

"What's this about?" asked Chase

"N-nothing," said Rocky quickly, looking at Zuma with pleading eyes.

"He's going to join me and the volleyball team to play some beach volleyball" said Zuma "that's all."

"Uh, ok. No big deal" said Chase as he and Skye began eating.

"Where's Rubble?" asked Marshall "If there's food he's usually waiting on us"

"He went over to Obi's after the Movie" said Skye "He never came back. I'm not sure if he called Ryder, but I figured he stayed over there."

"Wow, sleepover for Rubble" laughed Zuma.

'Figures' thought Rocky 'Rubble's not even sure what to do with a girl, and I can't get one to talk to me.'

Zuma kept badgering Rocky until he agreed to go.

Rocky and Zuma pulled up to the beach and got out. Immediately two pups ran over to Zuma.

One girl seemed to be a boxer, her muscles rippled as she walked. Rocky could tell she was the very definition of athletic. The other wasn't a slouch in the muscle department, but she bounced with an enthusiasm that was the true definition of a yellow lab.

"Rocky this is Sunny and Roxie" Zuma said "Girls this is Rocky. He's my best friend I told you about, he's our Recycling Pup as well as an amazing technical expert, he can fix anything."

"Hello Rocky" said Roxie the Boxer.

"Hey Rocky" said Sunny "Do you surf also?"

"Uh, no," said Rocky.

"Rocky doesn't like to get wet," said Zuma "the smell of wet dog drives him crazy. Especially if it's him"

The girls laughed and Zuma gave Roxie a friendly hug but turned and kissed Sunny deeply leaning her into a dip. When he stood her back up you could tell she was somewhat breathless.

"Wow Zuma" said Sunny "You really are a great kisser."

"Yeah like anyone else would know" laughed Roxie.

"Ha, you're jealous" laughed Sunny "Doesn't matter, I'm gonna keep him all for myself."

Roxie rolled her eyes and turned to Rocky. "Sunny has been my roommate since I started College." said Roxie "Sunny likes boys but I must admit she's never acted this way before. How about you? What do you do for fun?"

'Oh boy here it comes, Rocky bores another one' thought Rocky. "I like to fix electronics, really anything and I help with conservation projects around Adventure Bay." said Rocky "I'm the book nerd of the group. I like to read and discover new things. I know, boring. How about you? What's your Major?"

Roxie flexed her muscles and said "Needless to say, I'm a Phys Ed major. I really would like to play for the Olympic girls beach volleyball team. That's all I do is work out and go to class. This trip to Adventure Bay was the first non school or tournament thing I've done in a long while."

"Yeah, as you can tell I'm not very athletic" said Rocky "I'm strong enough to lift what I need, but I've never really been into sports. I like to watch and I'll play with the guys at the Lookout, but I'll never be good enough to compete."

"You never know," said Roxie "Sunny gives me grief because I rarely date anyone. But usually my ambition gets in the way. Anyway let's go talk to the others. It looks like Zuma and Sunny are going to stare into each other's eyes for a while longer."

Sunny laughed and stuck her tongue out at Roxie.

Roxie walked Rocky over to where the others were standing around warming up or talking. Roxie introduced Rocky to the other girls and pups. One of the pups looked over where Sunny and Zuma were standing and laughed.

"Sunny's found mister right again?" her name was Nell, she was a border collie.

"You know Sunny" laughed Roxie "But I don't know, she seems more serious then normal."

"Well obviously Zuma will follow her anywhere" said one of the girls "Ha, like a puppy"

"Oh stop it" said Roxie "Sunny deserves happiness."

"We're kidding" said Nell "You know we love Sunny. If he were a problem, we'd all bury him in the beach, after we dissected him."

"Nell here is a Medical Major if you couldn't tell" laughed Roxie "She offers to dissect everyone's boy friends."

"Yeah, that one guy was just a misunderstanding" laughed Nell "He won't always have a limp."

Rocky stared at Nell with wide eyes and began backing up a little.

"Stop it Nell" laughed Roxie "Rocky, She's kidding."

"So Rocky you're the recycling pup for the Paw Patrol" said Nell "what all do you do other than clean up?"

"Zuma said he's a wiz at fixing things" said Roxie.

"I do like to try and fix things," said Rocky "I help with conservation projects, I read, I help Ryder maintain the vehicles, stuff like that."

"Conservation stuff" said Nell "another tree hugger. You'd have loved to have met my sister, she is a conservation specialist for the Sierra Club. She'll be broke for the rest of her life but I guess she's happy."

"Let's play ball," said Roxie, picking a ball up and spinning it on her paw.

They played two player beach volleyball for a while and both Sunny and Zuma joined them. Later the group began playing just for fun with everyone playing at once. They played, they dove into the sand to catch spiked balls, they all had fun. Even Rocky had to admit he was having fun. But still no one Rocky could say really caught his eye or he theirs. Rocky watched Zuma and Sunny. 'I think Zuma would run away with her if she asked' thought Rocky.

As the day wore on everyone decided it was getting hot. They cooled under umbrellas but decided the water looked too inviting. Everyone ran for the water jumping in a squealing. Zuma walked over to Rocky.

"I'll hang out here with you," said Zuma.

"Don't be ridiculous Zuma" said Rocky "Go have fun, I'm fine."

"Yeah, there's the 'I'm Fine' statement again" said Zuma.

"Seriously" said Rocky "I 'm ok. I'll hang out here for a while. Go, don't tell me you don't want to be with Sunny every moment before they have to leave."

Zuma stared out at the girls splashing in the surf. When he found Sunny he smiled big.

"Yeah" Zuma said smiling "She's different. I don't know Rocky. How do you know if she's the one?"

"How would I know?" said Rocky "I haven't had longer than a 10 minute conversation with a girl."

"What about Roxie?" said Zuma "She seemed interested in you."

"Roxie is nice," said Rocky. "I enjoy talking to her. But she said it herself, she doesn't have time for relationships. Her focus is on the next Olympics. I can't blame her, she's… uh, well… you could say."

"The word is Hot," laughed Zuma.

"Ok ok, yes she is hot" agreed Rocky "She's athletic and I have no doubt she'll be at the next Olympics."

"So enjoy the time you can" said Zuma

"I know, it just..." Rocky trailed off

"I know" said Zuma "You're hoping to meet someone that you can spend more than an afternoon with."

Rocky just nodded.

"I understand," said Zuma "You sure you don't want to try the water?"

"I'm sure" said Rocky "Go! have fun"

Rocky watched as Zuma ran toward the surf and the awaiting ladies.
