Rocky opened his eyes and at first wondered if he was dreaming. Before his eyes only a few inches away was the most beautiful face he ever saw. Sensing being watched, those eyes opened to stare back at him. She smiled and yawned.
"Good morning love" Yeshe said.
"Good morning my sweet" said Rocky "if I never take another breath, I will have had the most amazing night and most incredible sight to awake to."
"You know our collars are still off" laughed Yeshe pawing at Rocky's ear.
"Well, would you look at that. I think you're right" agreed Rocky
A few pup houses down. A dalmation was waking in the paws of a beautiful lavender and white husky.
"Good morning my snowflake," said Marshall "did you sleep well?"
"Good morning my hot fire pup," said Everest "yes, I slept amazingly. I always love waking up with you in my paws."
A few more pup houses more, a cockapoo was waking next to her strong German Shepherd who was curled protectively around her.
"Good morning honey" said Skye "I think that was the hottest night we've ever had"
Chase yawned big, "I agree. But I rather enjoyed it. Didn't you?"
"Several times," giggled Skye "I always love waking next to you."
In the final occupied pup house a chocolate lab and a yellow lab woke together.
"Oh wow! It wasn't a dream" said Zuma stretching and licking his mate
"If it was," said Sunny, "I don't want to wake up, ever."
"So much has happened in the last week" said Zuma "I may never catch up. What day is it anyway?"
"Does it really matter?" asked Sunny "as long as I'm with you, the day doesn't matter."
"I love you so much," said Zuma kissing Sunny.
"Yeah," said Sunny, stretching out on the pup pad "I could definitely get used to this. Let's just stay in bed."
"That sounds wonderful" said Zuma falling back onto the pup pad.
Ryder walked by the pup houses and laughed to himself. 'My pups aren't pups anymore. I am glad they all seem to be moving into the next part of their lives.' thought Ryder 'We need to build dorms or a nursery for that matter'
Toby and Jake pulled up and saw Ryder walking toward them.
"So are any of them awake?" asked Toby
"No, I think I heard stirring but none of them has come out yet" said Ryder "they all waited for Sunny to come in before going to bed. I think they all deserve a sleep-in day. I have breakfast ready. They'll come eat when they get hungry enough."
"So do we want to bet which couple ends up with pups first?" laughed Jake "of course my money's on Marshall and Everest."
"I don't know!" said Ryder "I've expected Skye to turn up pregnant for months now."
"Well I suppose I'll have the talk with Rocky," said Toby "but I think he's got the gist from the other pups already. Ryder you have a tight bunch of pups, they really look out for each other. It's amazing, I have to admit, I'm jealous."
"Well don't forget" said Ryder "you're a part of this team now as well. We'll all help with the retreat or anything else when you need it."
"I still can't believe all that's happened." said Toby "Should I expect Yeshe home anytime soon?"
"If you need her," said Ryder "I'll have Rocky bring her home."
"That's if we can get them out of their pup houses long enough" laughed Jake
"Did you get a chance to talk to Rubble?" asked Ryder
"Yes," said Toby, "he's putting together a quote. He said he'll probably hire additional pups and people for the project. He's excited that y'all trust him enough to suggest him."
"The little dude knows his construction," said Jake, "and he does great work."
"It should be up and running by next summer" said Toby "I'll help Jake with the resort until then so I can learn the management side a little better. You wouldn't know of someone I could get to help with the book keeping would you?"
"As a matter of fact!" said Ryder "I think I know just the pup. Let me talk to her and I'll get her to come talk to you."
"You're thinking of Sunny aren't you," said Jake "I wonder if she'd take on both of our books?"
"If they ever get up," laughed Ryder "I'll ask."
The guys sat and talked while eating breakfast. Katie stopped by before going to work. She hadn't heard any updates and wanted to know how the date went. Ryder filled her in on everything that had happened the night before. She was happy for all the pups, she put her bet on Chase and Skye, but thought Rocky and Yeshe would be a close second.
Finally late in the morning the pups started dragging themselves in. Chase of course was apologetic for not getting up and performing his rounds that morning.
"If I needed you," said Ryder "I'd have called. Even you deserve a day off once in a while."
Rocky came to the table where the men were sitting.
"Um, Toby" said Rocky as he approached "I know a lot has happened the last few days. I believe I'll just make it easier and take you to lunch, if that is acceptable with you."
Toby smiled and said, "that is very mature of you. Yes, that would be nice. Will Yeshe be joining us or are we strictly going to follow the apparent rules?"
"You probably know more about this than I do" said Rocky "I'll leave it up to you."
"How about this," said Toby "have Yeshe meet us at Mr. Porter's, but you and I will walk and talk."
"That sounds good" said Rocky "I'll go and let her know to meet us at lunch."
Rocky went back down to his pup house and quietly entered, Yeshe stirred a little as he closed the door.
"Good morning my love," Rocky said as he laid down beside her and gently kissed her. Yeshe wrapped her paws around his neck and pulled him over on her. Rocky laughed, "I'm going to have to get used to the fact that you are going to be a lot stronger than me."
Yeshe opened her deep blue eyes and focused on him, "Does that bother you?"
"No, in some groups they might make fun of me" said Rocky "But everybody here fits into their spot regardless of strength or weakness. As a team we utilize each other's strengths and support each other's weaknesses."
"It will be nice to be a part of a team that isn't competing for positions," said Yeshe. She stood and stretched out her back and yawned big. "Where did you take off to this morning?" asked Yeshe.
"I went and spoke with Toby," said Rocky "He is in the kitchen. Anyway, if you would like to meet us at Mr. Porter's for lunch, Toby and I are going to walk and talk on the way there."
"That will be nice," said Yeshe, kissing Rocky. "Is he going to be giving you the DAD talk I keep hearing about?"
"Well, at least a modified version," laughed Rocky. "I actually asked him. I figured after last night, there are things that need to be discussed."
"Are you going to admit to him that uh, we took off our collars?" asked Yeshe.
"Not directly," said Rocky "That is unless he asks. I will never lie to him or to you."
"We aren't exactly puppies anymore," said Yeshe "I don't think he would be too upset. It was really him that helped put us together. I was scared to even come talk to you. He pushed me to walk down to where you were working and introduce myself. Wow, that seems so long ago, it's funny that it's only been a few days."
"I'm really glad he talked you into it," said Rocky, kissing Yeshe as she had him a minute ago. "My life is complete, I can't imagine my life with you in it."
"Well maybe not 100% complete," said Yeshe "Maybe not now, but someday I want to have a puppy or maybe several."
"I don't know," smiled Rocky "We might just have to practice for that, I'm not sure I have the hang of it yet."
"You're terrible" laughed Yeshe "but you're right, practice makes perfect and I think we should practice a lot."
"Well if I have to," whined Rocky, "but only to keep you happy."
"Oh, does my little Rocky want his tummy rubbed," giggled Yeshe.
"Yeah probably later," laughed Rocky "I don't want to go talk to Toby about our love life, while smelling like our love life."
"Well, I can't have you just running around without something" laughed Yeshe, she pushed him down and grabbed his neck in her jaws. Then she proceeded to give him a distinguished mark on his neck just under his fur, but dark enough that no pup would mistake it for anything else. Rocky laughed and struggled at first but then submitted partly because it felt really good and partly because if she wanted to she could easily pin him by his neck. Rocky thought, 'is it weird that that thought kind of turns me on?'
"There, that will do" said Yeshe licking his fur back down. Now you're marked as mine and no pup that doesn't want their head torn off will mistake it for anything else."
"You do know I have to walk with you master in about twenty minutes right?" laughed Rocky.
"Yep, It's not like he doesn't know" laughed Yeshe, "And if he only suspected, well now he'll know for sure."
"You just used me for my body and now you're going to let him kill me aren't you?" laughed Rocky
"Ah, you figured out my grand plan" laughed Yeshe as she pounced on Rocky pinning him to the pup pad.
"Yeah, I need to get out of here," said Rocky "or I'm going to need a cold shower before I go meet Toby"
"Whata you give me?" laughed Yeshe as began to playfully lick various places on Rocky until he almost vibrated.
"You can have my body," crooked Rocky
"That's not yours anymore" laughed Yeshe continuing to lick "It's mine, try again."
Yeshe kept licking more and more, finally Rocky cried out, "I'll give you a puppy, whenever you want it."
Yeshe stopped and kissed him, "Deal" She let him up finally.
"You are a very naughty puppy," laughed Rocky
"Bout time you found out," laughed Yeshe, swigging her behind back and forth as she walked out the pup house door. "You know how you like to look, Skye and Everest already told me about you boys' attraction to behinds."
Rocky just laid there smiling and thought. 'Wow, I never even imagined being this happy.'
Rocky met Toby just outside the Lookout and they began walking toward town.
"So I guess since this is supposed to be my speech to you so I'll start," said Toby. "I think I know most of the answers already. But where do you see yourself outside of Paw Patrol?"
"I've never thought of anything else really," said Rocky "I was a stray that Ryder gave a home to. I owe him too much and the team for that matter. I enjoy the work and there is so much conservation that can be done in the area."
"That's what I assumed," said Toby. He turned and looked at Rocky, "I'm guessing you and Yeshe's relationship has already progressed beyond just boyfriend / girlfriend." Toby stopped and turned to Rocky, "And Rocky, I want you to know. I'm ok with that, if you two are discussing it and not just running wild like hormonal teenagers, then I'm ok with you and Yeshe being mates or whatever the proper term is. I knew it was going to happen, I knew you two were intended for each other from the very start. I'm glad that everything has worked out the way it has. I would never have asked her to leave you and I would have missed her terribly." Toby continued walking, "Now I get to have grandpups and watch you two grow together."
Rocky thought out his response at this point, "I guess first off, yes sir, our relationship has progressed faster than I thought it would at least. Yeshe was the first to suggest becoming mates. She said, and I guess, I should really have let her tell you this. But she said she knew we would be more than just boyfriend / girlfriend. I love her and I have accepted her as my mate. I want to apologize for not coming to you before we decided. It was not my intent to have our relationship progress so quickly. It appears neither of us had much experience with dating or claiming mates. But it feels right and I don't know if it was watching what Zuma went through or something else, But I would not be able to survive without Yeshe in my life."
"Yeah I see she's already got to you" Toby smiled, pointing at his neck. "I'm not a dog and I even know what that means. She's going to have to watch herself, she will be much stronger than most pups soon."
"I can't tell you how good it feels to know that you support our relationship," said Rocky. "I want you to know I will do everything in my power to take good care of her for the rest of my life. And yes, she has already demonstrated that she is far stronger than me"
"I know you will," said Toby, "So will she be moving to the Lookout right away?"
"We actually haven't decided that yet," said Rocky "Jake's Mountain isn't that far away. It works for Everest and Marshall. I know there is nothing that would keep Yeshe from being a part of the retreat. I don't know maybe I'll move there, we'll just have to wait and see. For a while though, I would like permission for her to stay with me."
"Well of course," laughed Toby "I wouldn't separate you two on your honeymoon. Do dogs even have honeymoons?"
"I don't know really," laughed Rocky "I'm largely making this up as I go."
"Well we're here," said Toby "Do you feel fairly put in your place now?"
"Yes sir," laughed Rocky "I believe I am."
"You can come to me anytime," said Toby "Although you pup's support network would be the envy of anyone."
They entered to find Yeshe waiting patiently for them. They all sat and laughed and talked and enjoyed lunch.
As they were finishing their meal, Toby received a phone call. He got up for a moment and spoke on the phone. He came back to the table with a smile on his face.
"What?" asked Yeshe
"Oh, nothing important" said Toby trying real hard to hide that he knew a secret.
"You know you're a terrible liar," laughed Yeshe
"I take it, he's ready for whatever he has planned," Rocky was saying as His pup tag alerted.
"Paw Patrol to the Lookout" said Ryder
"Ryder needs us" said Rocky "Come on Yeshe, Let's go"
"Sorry to leave so soon," said Yeshe "We'll see you later."
The two pups ran for the Lookout.
The usual pile up in the elevator included two extra pups, Yeshe and Sunny somehow ended up piled on the edge together.
"So I guess we should just get used to this, huh?" said Sunny
"Apparently," laughed Yeshe "it seems to be the norm."
"If we keep adding pups, I'm going to have to put a bigger motor on the elevator, '' laughed Rocky as the elevator began to rise.
As the elevator reached the top everyone but Obi was inline, Sunny sat beside Zuma and Yeshe sat beside Rocky.
"Paw Patrol Ready for Action, Ryder Sir!" snapped Chase.
"Thanks for making it so quickly pups," said Ryder
"Now, just for those that don't know this yet" said Ryder "There is no emergency. Instead we have two new members that need to be acknowledged."
The current members gathered to either side of Ryder, leaving Sunny and Yeshe sitting together looking around and wondering what was going on.
Ryder stepped forward with Chase trailing behind him. Ryder turned to Chase and took the first collar from a box.
"Sunny, it has come to my attention," said Ryder "That from time to time, there is paperwork and documentation that needs to be performed. I understand that you are great with numbers and paperwork. You therefore are one our newest members and you will serve as the Bookkeeper pup"
Ryder removed her current collar and replaced it with a pretty pink collar with little rhinestones on it, also a new pup tag with a book and pen. He fastened the collar.
"Zuma, picked out the collar" said Ryder. Everyone Cheered.
"Yeshe, your title is a bit more complicated." said Ryder "I have watched you for the last week. I truly believe that you could probably operate any of our vehicles with the exception of Skye's and that's only because you haven't been taught to fly yet. That said, you are trained in security and rescue. You therefore will assist Everest as a Mountain Rescue Pup, when you are at the Retreat. When you are in town you will assist Chase as a backup Police Pup."
The collar that Ryder pulled from the box was a blue collar that almost perfectly matched Yeshe's eyes, attached was a new pup tag that was a combination of Everest and Chase's.
"And yes, Yeshe, Rocky picked out your new collar" said Ryder
"I love your eyes," said Rocky "They're my favor, uh, My second favorite part of you."
All the pups turned to Rocky. Rocky blushed deep red and they all snickered.
"Sunny and Yeshe" said Ryder "Welcome to the Paw Patrol."
All the pups cheered and came forward to welcome and congratulate the two newest members. Toby and Mr. Lariat had arrived in time to witness the presentation.
A party ensued that lasted late into the night. During the Party, Toby and Mr. Lariat both gave speeches blessing the union of their prospective daughters to Zuma and Rocky. Skye still insisted that they plan a joint wedding anyway.
Also during the party Ryder presented Sunny and Yeshe vehicles. Sunny's was capable of converting into a work table for paperwork and maps. Yeshe's was tracked similar to Everests but also had some of the capabilities of Chase's.
The evening ended with the pups breaking onto their mates' pup houses again. Rubble had suggested that they build a dorm for sleeping. He stated the obvious that they were quickly outgrowing their pup houses especially for sleeping two as most of them were now.
He agreed to work on the new dorms in between his efforts to build Toby's retreat.
Sunny agreed to work for Jake and Toby keeping their books.
"My major was business," said Sunny. "My dad will be pleased that I'm not wasting my education."
Well that ends this story. As I stated I will write future stories involving all of these New OC's. I look forward to continued suggestions.
