So, let's address the flaming elephant in the room. Character ages.
-According to lore, the majority of the 78th class is roughly 19 years old in Trigger Happy Havock, and all would have been around the age of 16-17 at the time of their initial admittance to HPA, and 20-21 years of age in DR3, during their conscription to the Foundation.
If you disagree, the lore would disagree with you. Sorry, not sorry. Look up the answers to this question that have been posted many times on the cess-pit that is Reddit.
And no, this isn't the anime, this novel is based on the game. Not the anime that takes place in 2013 supposedly.
-Next, Chihiro is not transgender. He isn't in canon, and he won't be in this novel either.
My evidence? The game of course! When Monokuma reveals Chihiro's secret after the 2nd trial ends, it is quite clearly shown that Chihiro only began cross-dressing as means to avoid bullying because of his effeminate stature, that is all. Not to mention, he comes directly to Mondo asking him to help him become more 'manly', a stark contradiction from the assumption.
-If you read the announcement chapter of the Legacy TSOF story, I've already said this, but sexual themes, as well as scenes, will be toned down heavily from the original to make the few that do make it in, far more impactful.
