"Santana Marie Lopez You know better!" Miguel slams his office door close causing Santana to flinch.

Santana was performing a routine surgery, she could do these all day in her sleep. One of the techs decided to pop off and Santana being Santana, reacted. What should have been a three hour in and out surgery quickly became a six hour surgery. Multiple doctors were called in to consult and talk to Santana during but she dismissed every one, insisting everything was under control. The surgery was of course a success and as soon as they left the OR, Santana updated the family and apologized for the time. As she was reviewing a patient chart each of the women were pulled into different offices.

She huffs, collapsing into the couch "I'll be okay for a few days but then it hits me, I stop functioning and everything falls apart again"

Miguel sighs, he knows his daughter, hell she's practically his clone. When things ended with Quinn, Santana's demeanor changed and she began to recluse. Afraid she was going to give up performing surgeries all together, Miguel insisted she take some time off and in true Lopez form she declined, reminding him that the patients needed her. He closed the patient file currently on his desk, moving to console his daughter

"Listen Mija, you have two choices. You can wait or you can move on. If you really love Quinn, learn to wait. Maybe you're not meant to be together today, but meant to be in the future"

"How long Papi? We're coming up to two years."

He nods, rubbing her back "I know mija. Your mami and I went through the same thing. Believe it or not, we lost five years" Santana's eyes widened "Listen to me Santana, I know this has always been your dream but you didn't have Quinn in your life back then. Sometimes our dreams change and that's okay"

"I don't think she feels the same Papi"

Miguel shakes his head "I don't believe that for one second. Judy asked me for a second opinion when Russell was first diagnosed and even had me visit them a few times, at the house in Boston. She was heartbroken at the funeral. Judy said Quinn was just as torn up about this breakup as you were but instead of sulking, she threw herself into work, sound familiar? When it comes to work ethic you both are the same. That's a good and bad thing. If it's ever going to work between you and whoever, you need to find the balance.

I love my job but if I had to choose between doing this forever and being with your Mami forever? I'd walk away right now"

"There's the handsome man I married"

Both Lopez's look towards the door as Maribel walks in

"Hola Mami" Santana smiles embracing her mother

"Hi baby girl" She takes a seat at her husband's desk, across from her husband and daughter. "I heard bits and pieces of your conversation and I have to agree with your Papi."

Miguel puffs his chest as both Lopez women laugh

"You and Quinn had obligations and neither could or wanted to bend. That is as much a good thing as it is bad. Mija, relationships are give and take. You can't expect her to give up her family's firm, she's worked her ass off to get to where she's at"

"And I havent?" Santana scoffs as Maribel shakes her head

"We all know you have and don't interrupt me again, Santana Marie. We are trying to be impartial here, help you see what you can't. You need to sit down and re-evaluate your priorities because they can't possibly be the same as when you were fifteen, and Mija that's okay. Dreams can and often do change. New York is beautiful and we love living here, but it isn't everything. If you spend your entire life inside these four walls, you're going to miss out on everything out there"

"Who's to say it won't ever happen Mija?" Miguel nods, moving to stand next to his wife "Maybe one day you'll be on your way home after a long day at work and you'll stop to look up at the beautiful sky. Then you'll look over to your right and there will stand the person you're meant to be with and in that moment you'll smile because you realize it was worth all of this bullshit."

Maribel nods, wrapping her arm around her husband's waist "He's absolutely right, and! Since you're taking the next two weeks off, you'll have plenty of time to think about all of that"

"Two weeks!!?What the fuck!?!" Santana gasps, completely outraged

"Keep talking and he will make it three" Maribel smirks crossing her arms

"You don't even work here Mami!"

"Adios, Santana" Maribel waves, dismissing her daughter

"We love you" Miguel stands before Santana can leave

"I love you too Papi. Mami not so much right now"

Maribel laughs, sticking her tongue out and Santana smiles, embracing her before leaving the office
