A groan fell from your lips as you opened your eyes, the familiar room causing your heart to sink as you realised you'd done it again. You didn't need to look at the person lying beside you, it was always him. Always that shaggy haired bad boy, your best friend that used you when he couldn't find someone else. Sitting up, you ran your hand through your hair. Glancing down at him, you could see he was still out, maybe too much to drink, or maybe he was just warn out; either way you were going to do the usual early morning flit before he woke up. Billy never cared when you left, he wouldn't care that he'd wake up in an empty bed. Slipping on your Princess Leia costume, you scooped up your heels and bag before silently slipping out of the hotel room, leaving Billy to sleep.
"Where have you been?" Your mother asked as you walked inside, an awkward smile appeared on your face. "I was at Nancy's." You lie casually glancing at Dustin behind your mother hoping he'd not blow it for you. "You should've called." She said seriously, walking over you hugged her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "I'm sorry, I will next time." You promised before going past and heading to your room.
"Funny, I didn't know you were staying at the Wheelers last night, don't you normally stay for breakfast?" Dustin asked following you causing you to groan. "What do you want Dustin?" You asked folding your arms. "Free rides for the next month." When did you get such a jerk of a brother? "A week." You respond instantly. "Three weeks." He responds. "One and a half." You replied not relishing the thought of driving Dustin and his friends around at all. "Two weeks." You let out a groan. "Fine, now get out of my room I want to get changed." Dustin nodded, but then stopped. "Will you come take a look at something when you're done."
Having washed Billy off of you and getting dressed, you went to Dustin's room to see what he found. "Come on then, what is it?" You asked. He grinned and showed you the small slug like creature. "Dustin…what the fuck is that thing?" You question getting close, but not close enough so it could get you. "I call it D'Artagnan, Dart for short." He explained. "I found him outside." You didn't like the look of it one little bit. "Dustin, you need to get rid of that thing." You said finding yourself shivering as you looked at it. "Or at least show it to your friends and get it away from us." You said stepping further back from it, you really didn't like it. "I'm going to, don't worry." He promised. "Make sure you keep it in the cage." You told him sternly before you left the room.
"I'm leaving in two minutes Dustin!" You yelled as you walked out the front door and got into your car. Turning on the radio you smiled to yourself and started to tap the wheel as you caught the second half of Elton John's I'm still standing. "I'm still standing, better than I ever did. Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid." Dustin got into the car while you were singing. "Please don't sing the whole way to school." He begged. "Do you want a ride or not Dustin?" You warned. "Yes, I do." He said sighing. "Then shut up." You replied rolling your eyes, before starting the engine and taking the pair of you to school.
Climbing out of the car, you headed inside humming Cum on feel the noise, which had been the last song playing on the radio. Heading to your locker, you happily bobbed your head to the tune in your head; until a hand landed beside you. "Hi Billy," you said not even needing to turn around as you could smell the mix of smoke and cologne. "You left." He said causing you to turn around. "I know, I had to get home." You explained as he pulled out a pair of pants. "You left these." Grabbing them you threw them in your locker. "Thanks Billy." You said trying to play it cool and hope that your cheeks weren't turning red. "Maybe next time you could stay and we can repeat the night." He suggested with a wink before walking away leaving you at your locker.
A sign left your lips as you stood at your locker, closing your eyes you rested your head against the cool metal and mentally prepared yourself. "Never again." You mumbled to yourself. "Never, ever again." Billy had only been here a few weeks and yet he'd managed to get you into bed twice. The first time was because you ran into him when you were dropping Dustin off at the arcade and ended up in his back seat, not classy at all. The second halloween because the girl he wanted had gone home, you were a last resort and you hated that you'd fallen for his charm twice now and felt like a dirty little whore after. You couldn't help it though, when you were together he made you feel wanted, something that your crush; Steve Harrington had never done. You'd had a crush on Steve since middle school, and he never noticed you. That is he didn't, until he began dating Nancy, and that was only because she was your best friend. Slamming your locker, you pushed yourself away and headed to class.
"There you are." As you lay on the bleachers at lunch, you heard Nancy and smiled. "How was your head after the party?" You ask looking at her over the top of your sunglasses. "Awful, I don't even know how I got home." She admitted. "Jonathan, Steve asked him." You explained. "I wish you hadn't gotten so drunk, but I mean I know you're finding it hard since Barb, but drinking won't help." You said gently as you sat up. "I know, it's just her parents are selling the house to pay for a private investigator." You reached over and held her hand. "We will figure something out." You promised her before letting go of her hand.
A moment of silence fell over you, you stared down for a moment before you finally spoke. "I need you to cover for me if my Mom asks, I stayed at yours on Halloween." You said glancing at her. "Okay, but where were you really?" She questioned making you look down. "In a motel… with Billy." Nancy scoffed and looked at you. "Funny, but where were you really?" She asked frowning as she saw you look down. "I know, I know what you're going to say, but it was a bad night for both of us and I ended up in bed with Billy, you got super drunk. These things happen." You mused. "What happened?" Nancy asked you, you just shook your head. "It doesn't matter." You replied thinking of that night.
You'd been stood talking to Jonathan when Steve came down and spoke to him, you watched him storm out and instinctively went after him. "Steve? Steve wait up." You called as you came outside into the cool air. "Go away Y/n I'm not in the mood." He snapped still walking away. "Steve, stop. I just…" He stopped and turned around looking at you. "You just what Y/n? Wanted to come and offer me a shoulder to cry on?" He asked bitterly. "Well guess what? I'm with Nancy, I love Nancy, you need to get over it and know that nothing is ever going to happen. Not now, not ever. We are not friends, I only ever spoke to you because of Nancy, if it weren't for the fact that we're dating I'd never talk to you." You stared at him, his words harsh and making your chest hurt.
Tears formed in your eyes, and you quickly wiped them away. "I came to see if you were okay, this whole year has been really hard for all of us, and Jonathan is looking after Nancy. I thought you could use a friend, but clearly we aren't friends. Yes, I had a crush on you, but I got over you when you and Nancy got together. You are so arrogant and full of yourself if you think for a second I'd make a move on you when you and my best friend are together, you really know nothing about me and it shows we really aren't friends."
Nancy nudged you, wanting to get your attention. "Sorry, I spaced out." You admitted glancing at her and smiling, "Are you sure you don't want to talk about it?" Nancy asked causing you to shake your head. "I'm fine, honestly." You said hearing the bell. "I need to get going." You said standing up as the boys gym class started spilling into the gym. "I'll catch you up." Nancy said. You nodded and stood up, you caught Billy's eye and smiled at him, before frowning as Steve looked your direction. You walked out quickly, wanting to get away from them.
At the end of the day, you headed to your car wanting to get home when you heard someone calling your name. Turning around you saw Steve and quickly turned back heading to your car wanting to get away from him. Unlocking it, you climbed in and started the car as Steve reached. He banged on the window, turning on the radio you pulled out of your spot not wanting to talk to him, why should you? He made it perfectly clear you weren't friends anyway.
