This is an AU to the Climax of The Hardest Thing. Where Marcy defeats The Core instead of Anne. Please read and enjoy.
In the world of Amphibia, a battle rages on between the remaining resistance fighters and the enemy Frobots. Everyone stops as the portal opens in the sky and King Andrias's flying castle emerges from it. The castle hovers over Newtopia, but makes a sudden jerk to the right and crashes down due to Polly driving it. Anne and the others have returned to Amphibia after the invasion defeated King Andrias and Darcy, saving Marcy from The Core in the process. However, none of them are aware that The Core is still active in Darcy's helmet and is about to initiate it's final plan.
(Anne and the others make their way onto the balcony overlooking the entire resistance. Lady Olivia is front and center, surrounded by Anne, Marcy, Sasha, the Plantars, Grime, Yunan, and Frobo, as she makes the big announcement.)
King Andrias and Darcy have been defeated! We are victorious! Lady Olivia proclaimed.
(Wartwood Resistance cheers. Meanwhile, the Core, still inside the helmet, escapes from the Newtopia Castle and activates its jet boosters, flying towards Amphibia's moon. It lands on the moon and inserts itself into it, causing the moon to open several giant eyes. Controlled by the Core, the moon begins to head towards Amphibia.)
Hey, uh, is it just me, or is the moon getting closer? Sprig asked.
(Everyone gasps as they see Amphibia's moon heading towards them.)
Oh, cruuuud. Anne stammered.
(Everyone comes down from the castle with Anne, The Plantars, and Grime on Domino 2. Sasha, Marcy, Olivia and Yunan on Joe Sparrow. And Frobo carries a still injured and defeated King Andrias to the ground with the Resistance.)
Is that the moon? Amphibian 1 asked.
It's coming towards us! Amphibian 2 warned.
What's going on?! Amphibian 3 asked.
(chuckles) It seems that the Core has activated its final gambit. King Andrias explained.
It's what?! Hop Pop asked in shock.
When our civilization was at its peak, the moon became home to some of the Core's pet projects. Among them, a plan to eradicate all life as we know it. By ramming the moon into Amphibia's surface. Andrias explains.
(Everyone is horrified and shocked, including Anne.)
Excuse me?! Why?! Anne yelled in anger.
Fear. I've been in that thing's head. I know that more than anything. It's afraid of being destroyed. Of being irrelevant. It will do whatever it takes to defeat us and claim the stones as its own. If that means destroying an entire civilization, then so be it. Marcy explained.
(pushes Anne and Marcy aside and runs up to Andrias) So, what you're saying is, this thing's a giant sore loser?! Sasha shouts in anger.
Hmm. More or less. Andrias emotionlessly replies.
We have to do something! Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop an entire moon?! Sprig asks in panic.
(The ground suddenly rumbles. People start screaming.)
An earthquake?! (the ground rumbles further and she falls off her feet) Don't we have enough going on?! Polly asking rhetorically.
(The ground rumbles more intensely as Mother Olm emerges from it.)
Mother Olm?! Anne and Sasha say in unison
(Looks suprised) Who is THIS now? Marcy asks in amazement and in complete shock.
So, how did it go? Mother Olm asks.
Well, we stopped the invasion, but now it looks like the moon is about to kill us all, so,(shrugs) mixed bag? Sprig explains.
I see. Then the prophecy has finally come to pass. Mother Olm replies.
(gasps) Sasha mentioned this! What did it say? What did it say? Marcy asks in suprise.
It said that the three of us would save the world. So, let's go save the world! Anne proclaims.
Yeah! Sasha and Marcy say in unison.
Well, just a minute, the prophecy doesn't necessarily say you'll succeed. Said Mother Olm.
Wha-wha? Anne, Sasha, and Marcy reply in confusion.
You see, the prophecy isn't so much a prediction as it is a humble request for help. And know this: You have to tap into the energy that remains in the stones in order to get the energy you need. However, if you do that...
There might not be enough energy left for us to get home. Anne continued.
We could be stuck in Amphibia forever. Sasha replies back.
Yeah. So, now that all the cards are on the table, what will you do? The choice is yours. Mother Olm asks.
(The three girls look around, then at each other, determined.)
You call that a choice? Sasha asks sarcastically.
Of course we'll help! Marcy replies.
There's no way we'd leave you hanging in your hour of need. Anne agrees.
(Everyone cheers.)
Whew! I wasn't worried. Were you,Toadie? Because I sure wasn't. Toadstool says while he holds Toadie tight in his right arm and wipes his sweat away with a cloth.
Now let's get powered up. Ladies, to themusic box! Anne excitedly exclaims.
(Everyone runs off. Anne is about to follow them as well when Mother Olm suddenly taps her by the shoulder.)
Anne, one more thing. (offers her hand and Anne hops on it; she is brought close to Mother Olm) The stones are strong, but they may not be enough to defeat the Core. If things look bad out there, don't forget about the secret spell, said Mother Olm.
Wait, the secret what now? Anne asks in confusion.
Didn't I tell you about that? Mother Olm says in befuddlement.
No! Anne replies.
(Mother Olm sighs and shrugs) Well, the stones are rumored to hold a hidden power, enough to defeat any foe. But summoning such power (deep voice) comes at a price.(back to her normal voice) The life of the user. (lets Anne down)
So, whoever uses this spell and calls on the power of all three stones... will die. Anne says while she looks away uncertainly.
Mmm.. yeah. But hopefully it will never come to that. Am I right? Okay! Good luck out there. Mother Olm says while she is about to leave when Anne calls her back).
Wait! (Mother Olm stops) The spell... how do I use it? Anne asks.
My child... you have only but to ask. Mother Olm replies before she leave.
Meanwhile inside the castle Sasha, Marcy and other Amphibians arrive in the Castle throne room where they find Valeriana and her pet bird Leander are standing by the Music Box. Suprising everyone.
Valeriana?! Marcy, Sprig, Polly, and Hop Pop say in unison.
Who is this?! Sasha asks.
We met her back at The Second Temple, and she helped us recharged the stone. Marcy answered.
What are you doing here? Sprig asked.
I've been waiting for your return ever since you came back. As now The Prophecy has finally come to pass. Valeriana replied.
(Marcy and The Plantars are excited and impressed while Sasha is a bit creeped out.)
Come it's almost time, Valeriana calls Sasha and Marcy over as they proceed to follow.
Marcy wait. Lady Olivia calls to Marcy.
(Marcy walks to Olivia and Yunan)
Here. Take this with you. Yunan says in a worried voice while bringing out Marcy's crossbow equipped with an arrow.
Thank you. Marcy says as she takes her crossbow from Yunan's hand and puts it inside her cape.
Please. Come back safely Master Marcy. Olivia says worryingly.
Marcy smiles softly at the two newts then grabs onto one of their hands.
I will. I promise. Marcy says softly.
(Olivia and Yunan briefly smile back at her before she let's go of their hand. But her smile fades when she notices Andrias sitting behind them. Andrias doesn't even look at her as he is too ashamed to after all of the pain he has inflicted on the young girl. Marcy face turns to sadness but she wants to say something to the Giant Newt King but is unable to find the words. Just then, Anne walks in the throne room before Marcy can utter a single word to the King. So she solemnly rejoins her friends).
Hey, sorry for the holdup guys. (Anne gasps) No way, Valeriana?!
She was waiting for us when we got here! Sprig says excitingly.
Pretty creepy, if you ask me. Sasha replies.
(Leander flies up to her and perches on her head, much to her annoyance.)
(cawks) Pretty creepy. Pretty creepy. Leander repeats.
Hello, Anne. Are you ready for your final battle? Valeriana asks while Leander flies back to her shoulder.
Oh, heck yeah! Anne replies with confidence.
Good. Now, the three of you close your eyes. Focus. (the girls do so) Think of your memories of Amphibia, of how much this world means to you. (As she speaks, the scene slowly shifts towards each of the girls)This will allow the stones to resonate with your hearts... once again!
(She points her staff at Anne and fires a beam of energy that goes through her and is transferred to the Calamity Gems, and in turn, the three girls. A big explosion occurs as shown from outside)
Warriors of Amphibia... ARISE! Valeriana proclaims.
(The three girls are now shown in their Calamity forms. Their eyes, armor, and haircolor have changed. Anne's eyes and hair are a neon blue color, with twigs and branches left in her hair becoming permanent wooden horns. She also has light golden armor, light blue gloves, and shoulder pads with a blue skirt and cape. Sasha now wears a red battle armor with a black cape and gold crown, as well as spiked bracelets that cover her wrists and boots, with her hair now resembling a flame wick. And Marcy is clothed in golden armor with a green skirt and cape, dark green shoulder guards with golden trims, golden fingerless gauntlets and golden crown. Her armor also bear green gems embedded into the metal.)
Whoa! The three girls exclaimed with suprise and satisfaction.
Swanky duds! Anne commented on their new forms.
(Admiring her cool new form, Sasha test her powers and fires an energy blast with her fist that blows off the roof of the castle) Anne! You could do that this whole time?!
Uh, nope. These powers feel way more intense than before. Anne replies while looking at her newly enhanced powers.
The powers must stack when used in tandem! Classic synergy buff. Marcy answers while she floats behind Anne.
Okay, then. Let's go punch that moon in its big ugly face! Anne says as she Sasha and Marcy prepare to take off.
(Anne, Sasha and Marcy swiftly fly out of the castle and towards the moon leaving an synergy trail in their path.)
(Sprig hops out of the castle) Yes! Yes! Get it girl!
(Polly hops beside Sprig) I know her!
She lived in my basement! Hop Pop replies.
(Back inside the castle, Olivia, Yunan, and Grime watch the girls rocket towards the moon as well.)
Good luck Marcy. Lady Olivia says solemnly.
I know you can do this Sasha. Grime adds.
(Anne, Sasha and Marcy keep flying towards the moon as The Core sees them.)
Incoming targets. Deploy defenses. (The Core releases the bug-robot army from inside of the moon; as Anne, Sasha and Marcy ready their powers).
Game on, you stinky spacebugs! (Anne prepares to attack) Here's a serve!
(Annes creates a large blue tennis racket and tennis ball out of pure energy. Anne hits the giant tennis ball with the racket, then the tennis ball transforms into a large kitten, then it turns into homing energy missiles in the form of smaller kittens that yield incredible destructive power, hitting the bug-robots, and causing them to explode.)
(Sasha creates pink pom-poms out of pure energy and heron like wings on her back and uses her gauntlets to swiftly destroy the robot army in a frenzy. Then a large robot appears in front of her and tries to punch her, Sasha combines her pom-poms and uses them to attack the robot, and it easily rips through the robots armor which causes it to explode.)
(While Marcy, watches the battle from afar, and starts to tear up as she sighs happily) This is the coolest, most anime thing that's ever happened to me. I'm so happy to be able to fight by your side! Marcy then summons a giant green icosahedron from her hands and throws it towards the robots and it destroys 2 if them with destructive power until the third robot catches it with its claws. Nat 20, baby! Marcy says smugly as the dice destroys the robot and others near it with a big green explosion.
(Anne and Sasha regroup with Marcy and the three share a group hug before taking down what remains of the Core's robot army. Back in Newtopia, Andrias watches the girls when the Core suddenly contacts him.) Andrias.'..'
Father?
Help us... save us... and you can finally join us... FOREVER. The Core fearfully begs.
Hey! What are you doing? Grime shout while he brings out Barrel's Warhammer.
What I must. Frobots, (several damaged Frobots emerge from the rubble) engage. (The Frobots immediately fly towards the moon. Sasha punches a robot.)
Enough with the small fry. Time to take care of the moon! (Anne, Sasha and Marcy fly towards the moon and begin pushing it back, which turns out to be difficult. Marcy then sees the Frobots coming towards them, and immediately thinks Andrias wants to destroy them again.)
Leave this to me! (Marcy heads towards the Frobots, but trips over a piece of rock floating in space which causes her to miss them, much to her annoyance)(screams) Whoa! Come on! (She heads back towards the moon, but much to her, Sasha's and Anne's surprise, the Frobots help Anne, Sasha and Marcy push back the moon)
No way! Andrias's robots? Sasha stunned.
(groaning) They're helping us! Anne says while she realizes what they're doing.
(Marcy pauses in suprise then smiles back down to Amphibia, realizing that the Giant Newt that she looked up to finally had a change-of-heart. Then she rejoins her friends to pushing back The Core.)
(Back in Newtopia, Grime is also dumbstruck.)
I don't believe this. (Grime turns towards Andrias) You're...
...Finally doing something useful? Andrias replies while he grabbes his crown with his right hand.
You FOOL! You could've been immortal!(Andrias begins to break his crown with his right hand) WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! The Core asked outraged.
Something I should've done a long time ago... standing up to YOU! (manages to break the crown into pieces) FULL THROTTLE ENGAGED!!! Andrias yells to the Frogbots.
(The Frobots' throttles grow stronger, enough to almost overpower the Core.)
Fools! You cannot stop... a GOD! (The Core pushes the moon further into Amphibia relentlessly.)
Even with the robot army, it's not enough!(Marcy groans)
(Sasha says weakly) Guys, I hate to bring this up, but I'm fading fast...
Me too... (Sasha and Marcy's powers begin faltering and their hair colors start to turn back to normal.) Our bodies aren't as used to this as yours. Marcy says weakly to Anne.
(Seeing no way out, Anne decides to use the secret spell.) Look, guys, I know what I have to do. I'm going to call up on the power of all three stones. (pauses) I may die in the process, but at least you and everyone else will be safe.
What?! Marcy asks in shock as she and Sasha gather in front of Anne.
Are you crazy?! Sasha asks in shock.
There's no way we're letting you do that! Marcy exclaims.
(The Frobots, one by one, start to explode.)
Our whole lives, I've followed you two, counted on you, trusted you. Now it's your turn to follow my lead. Please. Let me do this. Anne pleades with her friends.
Anne... Marcy says tearfully.
But... but... Sasha shudders tearfully.
No... I... I won't allow it. Marcy shouts at Anne in tears.
Me Neither. Sasha shouts tearfully.
I know but there's no other way. I must. Anne pleads with them.
Sasha and Marcy stare at Anne silently with tears in their eyes. And the latter is about to give in until she realizes that she still has her crossbow with her. Then she gets an idea.
(Anne reaches her hand out as Sasha is about to give Anne her Gemstone) Wait (Sasha pulls her hand away from Anne as Marcy speaks).
I might have another idea that just might work. (Marcy brings out her crossbow) If I can fly close enough to that thing's helmet, I just might be able to destroy it with my crossbow.
Marcy. No. It's too dangerous. You could get hurt again or worse. Sasha fearfully replied.
Sasha's right. (starts tearing up) We just got you back again, and we... (Anne sniffles with tears in her eyes) we don't want to lose you again. So please, you've got to trust me.
I do trust you Anne, (starts tearing up again) but all of this is my fault. I dragged you both here only thinking of myself, and you all got hurt because of me. I don't want you to fix the mess I started this time, and I don't want you dying because of me. So please (wipes the tears from her eyes) let me do this.
Yeah. But Marcy-- (Anne tries to reach out to Marcy but she suddenly flies away from her and Sasha before Anne finishes her statement. Leaving them shocked).
MARCY!!! Anne and Sasha say in unison.
Anne tries to chase after her friend but the Moon is getting closer than ever to Amphibia and Sasha powers are getting even weaker.
(Marcy continues to fly to the back of the Moon but she's flying slower than before due to fatigue. She feels her her powers draining faster and she struggles to maintain her calamity form.)
(thinking to herself) Anne... Sasha... I believed in you. I knew that you would come through and save me from that thing. And you did. And now I want you to believe in me.
(She soon reaches to the back of the moon where she sees the helmet that once took control of her body being surrounded by flames of it's rocket boosters and it sees her as well. Marcy growls angrily at the helmet, who glares at her in return. Though she briefly remembers when it placed the helmet on her head and took over her body. But she quickly shrugs it off.)
You. Do you really think that you can destroy us?! Your powers have grown too weak. We are an entire moon. We are A GOD!!!
(Marcy breathes heavily and can barely stay in Calamity Form as her power are faltering even more than before, but she still looks at it) You... You're wrong. You've spent thousands of years afraid of being destroyed. Of being irrelevant. You've attacked countless worlds, and hurt so many people just to stay in control... You're not a God. You're a bully and a coward. Besides (Marcy brings out her crossbow) I just need enough power to defeat you with this (Marcy equips her crossbow onto her right forearm).
(Meanwhile back down in Amphibia, everyone begins to panic as the moon begins to enter the Stratosphere. Some of the Frogs, Toads, and Newts run for their lives while The Plantars, Frobo, Grime, Olivia and Yunan stay to watch the moon decent to the ground. Sprig begins to get frantic and paces around, worried about his best friends well being).
(groans) I have to know what's going on up there. Frobo, take me to Anne! (Sprig hops onto Frobo) Now!
Sprig, no! It's too dangerous! Hop Pop tries to stop him. (Sprig and Frobo launch off towards the moon.)
SPRIG!!! Hop Pop yells.
(Back in space, with all of Andrias's Frobots destroyed, Anne tries to hold the moon at bay with Sasha's help despite that her powers are continuing to get weaker as well. But it's no use as the moon continues to decent.)
(Suddenly Anne's powers begin faltering as well) Oh no. No. No. No. I'm... fading as well. Please. Not now. Anne says weakly while her hair color flickers to normal.
(Then Sasha gets too weak to keep pushing back and finally reverts back to normal form.)
No... I'm... I'm not giving up. I have to keep going.
(Sasha tries to go back to Calamity form but Anne stops her and flies over to Sasha)
(Puts her hands on Sasha's shoulders as Sasha hold onto Anne's arms) No... Sasha... You've done enough... Leave... leave this to... to me. Anne says as she gets weaker.
But... Anne... Sasha replies sadly.
I know Sash. Lets just have faith in Marcy. But right now, I have to do this alone.
(Anne let's go of Sasha as she turns to face the Moon again until she hears Sprig calling out to her).
Anne! (Anne and Sasha turn around to see Sprig riding on Frobo) Please don't do this. Come back down. I don't know what I'll do without you. You're my everything. You... changed my life.
(Anne holds his hand as Sasha sadly smiles at them.) And you've changed mine. Don't worry about me buddy. I'll be fine. But if I don't make it, my only regret is that I'll never see Love Choice 2. (Sprig starts sobbing, and they eventually let go of each other.)
(Anne then flies back to the moon to keep pushing with her last remaining strength with Sprig, Frobo, and Sasha sadly watching from afar. Then Sasha begins thinking to herself.)
(Thinking to herself) Marcy... We believe in you.
(Back behind the moon, Marcy musters up as much energy into her crossbow as possible which causes it to slowly start to glow brighter).
(The Core gives a fearful expression then releases more bug-bots from inside the moon after Marcy) Give up child. Your friends and everything you ever cared about will soon perish.
(Marcy continues to struggle, but her crossbow grows brighter from all of the synergy) Anne, Sasha, Everyone... (Images of her friends, the Plantars, Frobo, Olivia and Yunan, and even Andrias appears in her thoughts)... You all have done so much for me. You all cared for me, and you saved me. Marcy's crossbow glows brighter than ever as The Core and the Bug-Bots watch in awe as it transforms into a bigger, larger, and longer crossbow with a green synergy glow completely surrounding it. (Marcy prepares to fire while she gives a serious stare at The Core) NOW IT'S MY TURN TO SAVE YOU!!!
(Marcy fires her arrow with all of her might and it flies out her bow with green synergy surrounding it. The Core gives another fearful stare at it's bug-bot minions try to block it's path. But it easily peirces through all of them, killing them without even slowing down and not even the fire on the Moons rocket boosters stops it. Then it finally reaches Darcy's helmet where it pierces through the eye on the center of it's face all the way into the Moons surface, causing both to start short circuiting. An exhausted Marcy finally returns to normal form as well as The Core shrieks in agony and fear and it's eyes all over the moon begin to whir).
(panting) It's... It's over. Marcy says weakly but with a smug look on her face.
(The Core continues to shriek as sparks of electricity start coming out of the Moons body and begins hitting the moons booster rocket's one by one, causing them to shut down.)
(Meanwhile, Anne continues to try to push back the moon with her power quickly getting weaker with a worried Sprig, Sasha, and Frobo watching. Until she finally stops when she sees some sparks of electricity come from the moon and it eyes whirring one by one. Anne realizes that Marcy did it as she flies away from The Core and returns to normal form as well.)
She... did it. Anne says weakly but with a smile on her face.
(Sprig, Sasha, and Frobo are happy and relieved as well and rejoin Anne.)
Now... let's go get that loveable little nerd and get out of here. Sasha replies.
(Frobo takes Sasha and then Anne into his arm and they go to the back of the moon to get Marcy. They quickly get there while avoiding the electricity coming from The Core's body. They see Marcy and Anne and Sasha call out to her.)
(Anne and Sasha) Marcy!!!
(Marcy turns around and smiles) Girls... I did it. It worked.
(Anne and Sasha applaud her as Frobo flies in closer with them. Their cheers makes Marcy very happy and now she feels like that she finally redeemed herself. However, The Cores ever whirring eyes goes from fear to fury and they have their sights set directly on Marcy.)
(A robotic claw comes from inside the moon grabs Marcy, and pulls her inside.) AAAAHHHHH!!!
MARCY!!! Anne, Sasha, and Sprig horrified.
WE'VE GOT TO SAVE HER!!! FROBO!!! GO!!! Anne yells.
(Frobo is about to proceed further but the moon becomes more unstable. Electricity starts flying everywhere and the Moons rocket boosters start explode.)
It's too dangerous. We've got to get out of here. (nearby explosion startles Sprig).
No. I won't leave her again. (Sasha starts sobbing as she releases herself from Frobo's hands.)
Me neither. Anne replies as she does the same.
(Both Anne and Sasha try to power up again but they are both to weak to do so. Forcing Frobo to quickly grab them and fly away before they get hurt. And they lose their Gemstones in the process.)
NO!!! MARCY!!! Anne and Sasha shout as they are both carried away in tears.
(Frobo flies away from the collapsing moon with Sprig, Anne, and Sasha in tow back down to Amphibia. They soon arrive back in Newtopia, where a crestfallen Sasha and Anne are met by the Plantars, Grime, Olivia and Yunan, surprised.)
What's going on? Did you guys win? Polly asked.
Yes. But... (Anne starts sobbing) that thing took Marcy inside of it.
We... couldn't do anything to stop it. Sasha starts crying.
(Everyone gasps in shock including Andrias who is sitting nearby.)
No... Marcy. (Andrias looks up at the moon with great concern for the young girl's life.)
(Suddenly, unbeknownst to Grime astrange blue energy coming from Barrel's Warhammer while in the Castle Leif's letter to Andrias does the same. Then both energies take off towards the moon. Back inside The Moon, the claw throws Marcy into the Moons center as she loses her Calamity Gem when she hits the ground. And as the Moon becomes more increasingly unstable, a furious Aldrich appears with 13 of The Core's hellish eyes and with his giant axe in his hands. Marcy tries to stand up but she is too weak. All she can do is stare intensely at him.)
YOU!!! THIS IS ALL OF YOUR FAULT!!! THANKS TO YOU OUR CIVILIZATION IS OVER AND OUR LEGACY IS DOOMED!!! NOW I'M GOING TO DO SOMETHING MY PATHETIC EXCUSE OF A SON SHOULD'VE DONE THE MOMENT YOU CAME INTO THIS WORLD!!! (Aldrich raises his axe and prepares to kill Marcy.)
Do your worst you monster...
(Aldrich swings his axe right at Marcy as she closes her eyes and prepares for the worst. But something blocks the attack, much to the Tyrants suprise. Marcy opens her eyes and is suprised to see a strange blue energy figure somehow blocking the attack, then the other arrives and begins to carry Marcy.)
It's... you two. Aldrich says as he appears to recognize the two spiritual figures coming to Marcy's rescue.
(The spirits then shows it's true form, the first one is none other than Andrias's former Toad Friend "Barrel the Brave" as he's blocking Aldrich's axe with his hammer and the other is his other former Frog Friend as well as Sprig and Polly's distant Ancestor "Leif".)
Whoa. Marcy says in awe.
(Barrel pushes Aldrich back.)
(gasps) Who are you?! Marcy asked.
There's no time to explain (the area around them starts getting more unstable than ever and it finally begins to fall apart.) we have to get out of here. Leif replied.
(The two spirits carry Marcy's body and fly away with the weakend girl. They manage to see a way out, electricity sparks more ferociously all over the place and more of the Core's other minds show up and attack them as well by firing and swinging various weapons around. Thankfully they manage to invade them, but the moon is seconds away from blowing to pieces and they are still not very close to the exit but they still keep on going. Back on the moons surface it's boosters explodes completely and Darcy's helmet finally does as well. Massive strikes of electricity begin surrounding the entire moon then beam of red energy comes from it's body, and after a few seconds the entire moon finally explodes thus finally killing The Core and ending their rein of terror for good. Back in Newtopia, everyone rejoices over The Core's defeat and Marcy's victory except for her friends, the Plantars, and Olivia and Yunan. Who fear that their friend may actually be dead and start crying.)
(Anne holds hands with Sasha and both start sobbing) Oh Marcy... We just got you back to us... and- (Sasha) Please be okay.
(Back in space, an unconscious Marcy awakens to find herself surrounded by some of the Moons debris with Leif and Barrel carrying her through space. With their help, she has escaped from the exploding moon on time, and they notice her waking up. Stop flying and release her from their grasp.)
You're awake. Barrel replies.
We're glad you're okay. Leif says with relief.
(Marcy Groans) Ugh- Where am I?!... (Looks at Leif and Barrel) Who are you two?!... Did I die?! Am I in the bad place?!
We were once friends with Andrias like you were. And no, you're not dead. Leif replies.
You just blacked out for a few moments. Barrel replies.
Once were. Wait were you two-
-the ones who betrayed Andrias. Yes. Well... it was just me. (Marcy looks at Leif with suprise). Yeah. It's a... long story.
(Leif and Barrel explain their story to Marcy. About the Vision Leif had that fateful day, why she betrayed Andrias, and stole the Music Box and took it to Earth.)
(Marcy in awe) Whoa. Wait so you two are-
Yep. (Leif chuckles awkwardly) We're spirits. Ghost. However you like to say it.
(Marcy stares at them dumbstruck and shocked) Well I guess that confirms that there is actually an afterlife. (Shakes her head) Anyways. How did you guys know what was going on?! Why did you save me?!
We were informed that the Olm Prophecy has finally come to pass by a higher being. A being that has watched over countless worlds for countless eons. They told us that they created the Stones to see how mortals would handle having unlimited power. Leif replied.
Well that surely didn't go well. Marcy comments.
Uh-huh. Yeah. Yeah. That's true. That's what they tolds us. (Both Leif and Barrel say as they look at each other and nod in agreement.)
And we saved you because despite what he did to you. You were clearly very important to 'Drias. Even if didn't want to admit it. Barrel comments.
(Marcy smiles for a moment then looks away.)
I'm so sorry for all of the pain our friend caused to you and your friends. Leif apologizes.
Me and Leif reconciled after we passed on. But we've waited a very long time for 'Drias to join us so we could possibly reconcile as well. Barrel replies.
But for the last thousand years, he closed himself off from the world and mindlessly followed that thing's ambitious without a single being to call his friend. Leif says sadly.
That... (Marcy looks down with a sad face) must have been hard.
But even though he didn't want to admit it, you were the first real person he's connected with in 1000 years of suffering. Of hating himself. And though it maybe too late to make things right with you, he just wants you to be safe. Leif says.
(Marcy looks up again and smiles with a few tears in her eyes. Though she's still not certain if she can truly forgive the former newt king for what he did, she's happy that deep, deep down he did think of her as a friend.)
(Marcy sniffles) I think I better get back to Amphibia now. My friends are probably really worried about me right now.
(Leif and Barrel smile and nod at each other then they revert back into their spirit forms and they surround Marcy's body and they carefully fly her back down to Amphibia.)
(Marcy closes her eyes she re-enters the atmosphere. Then she hears Leif and Barrel's voices in her head.)
(Leif) Thank you Marcy Wu, for the kindness you've shown to our 'Drias. (then switches to Barrel) And tell 'Drias that we're waiting for him.
I will... I promise...
(As she decents further down, Marcy's vision goes white as she blacks out again. She wakes up a few moments later to feel some small waves of water splashing on her face. She opens her eyes and sees that she's just outside of Newtopia she looks around but Leif and Barrel are nowhere to be seen. She finds herself lying next to her friends and the Resistance who are mourning over Marcy's possible death with Anne and Sasha on their knees. She gets up and she approaches them.)
(Sobbing) Oh. Marcy... Come back to us. Anne cries loudly as she covers her face with her hands.
Please... (crying) You're a hero Mar-Mar. Sasha starts sobbing loudly as well.
(Marcy walks up to The Plantars who are forlorn as well) What's wrong with Anne and Sasha? She asks.
Oh. They're just sad that you never came back down (everyone else begins to gasp as they see Marcy's alive) and that you probably died in the Moons explosion. Wait. Huh? (Hop Pop looks up to see Marcy and gasps in suprise.)
Marcy?! (Both Anne and Sasha turn around and gasp.)
(Marcy giggles and waves) Hey girlfriends. I'm back.
MARCY!!! Both Anne and Sasha tearfully shout and they run over to their friend.
(They tackle hug Marcy back into the shallow water as the two hug her in tears, as everyone else watches nearby happy that's she okay. Lady Olivia and General Yunan watch as Yunan grabs Olivia's hand and the two immediately blush at each other. Even Andrias is watching from afar and gives a brief smile at Marcy before looking away.)
You're alive. Anne says tearfully.
(Anne lets go of Marcy as the three girls stand up) You have (Sasha punches Marcy in the right shoulder) got to stop scaring us like that.
(holds her shoulder) You're right. I'm so sorry. I'll try not to scare you guys again. WHOA!!! (Marcy slips and falls into the water much to everyone's suprise but soon gets back on her feet)(ackwardly chuckles) Starting... now.
Oh. We can't stay mad at you. (Anne and Sasha hug Marcy again) YOU'RE ALIVE!!!
(Anne and Sasha release Marcy) But how did you survive?! Anne asked.
That's kind of a long story. Marcy replies.
Question. Why is your pouch glowing? Sprig asked.
(Marcy opens her pouch and pulls out something that is wrapped up in paper.)
What... are those? Sasha asked.
(Marcy opens it to see three gem fragments, one blue, one green, and one pink.)
I think... they're a chance for a fresh start. Marcy replies.
But... are you sure?! Anne asked.
(Marcy looks at her friends and everyone around her including Andrias who only looks at her for a moment then looks away in shame, but she still smiles at him anyways.)
Not especially. But I know now that what happens or where I go or what I do, I'll be fine, cause we'll always be friends. You guys taught me that. Marcy replies.
(Anne, Sasha, Yunan, and Olivia all smile back at Marcy.)
NOW (Anne and Sasha hug Marcy again) COME HERE YOU.
(As all three girls giggle, and The Plantars. Grime, as well as Olivia and Yunan joins them in their group hug. Frobo runs over but just extends his arms to hug the entire group gently. After he releases them, Sprig hugs Anne, and Anne responds by playfully lifting Sprig over her head. Everyone starts laughing again as Andrias looks to the destroyed moon and sighs happily.)
It's over. It's finally over. King Andrias says in relief.
(Meanwhile back in space, the Gemstones are revealed to have survived the explosion and are now floating around in the atmosphere. Then a mysterious creature appears skimming across space and claims the stones as their own. The creature has a much larger black cat like form with a white beard and grey paws, eyes in the form of the blue right eye and green left eye gems, the pink gem on its forehead, a lot of white fur on its chest, a long furry tail and a pair of large white feather wings. The Creature briefly smiles back down at Amphibia and then dissappears back into the Cosmos.)
(Sometime later in Amphibia, Marcy is seen examining the gem fragments. Anne and Sasha are next to her while everyone else looks on from a distance.)
Based on what Leif and Barrel told me, I think these shards are low output versions of the stones.
So we can use them to get back home? Sasha asked.
In theory, but we're talking crumbs of energy. Judging by the size and luminosity, I think they're one-time use only. Marcy responds sadly.
So if we use these to return home, there's no coming back. Anne sadly replies.
Not only that, who knows how long they'll hold for. Could be hours, could be minutes. Marcy says as she, Anne and Sasha look down in thought.
Well... we better say our goodbyes. (Hop Pop walks up to the girls) You girls need to go back to your own lives. I think we've kept you long enough.
(Anne, Sasha and Marcy all look at each other, and with a sad expression, they all nod. Cut to Marcy receiving a wreath of green flowers on her head by Lady Olivia and Yunan.)
I came to this world thinking only of myself. It was wrong of me. And I wish I'd gotten to know you both better.
I think we all have a lot to learn, Master Marcy. Don't be so hard on yourself. Lady Olivia replies.
In a way, you've helped us to see what was important as well. General Yunan adds.
(Marcy sees that Lady Olivia and General Yunan are holding hands and smiles as she realizes the the two have officially started a relationship. She looks up and sees the broken form of Andrias and finally manages to say something to the Giant Newt.)
Goodbye, Andrias. Leif and Barrel wanted me to tell you that they're waiting for you. Marcy says as a she sheds a tear from her left eye.
(King Andrias gasps in suprise, but could only offer back a pained expression of guilt.)
Take care, kiddo. he solemnly replies.
(Pan over to Grime and Sasha, the former struggling to place a pink wreath of flowers on the latter's head. Once achieved, they give each other a military salute. They remain stoic.)
Commander. Sasha emotionlessly says.
Lieutenant. It... was an honor serving with you. (Grime sticks his hand out for a formal handshake.)
(After holding back her emotions for a while, Sasha finally bursts into tears.)
(Sasha starts bawling) I'm gonna miss you so much! (sobbing)
(Grime struggles to keep himself together and begins sobbing as well) Not... as much... as I'm going to miss you!
(Sasha still sobbing) You find Percy and Braddock. You tell them... I'll miss them forever!
(Grime through tears) I will. As soon as I find the pieces of my heart and put them back together!
(Sasha and Grime hold each other and bawl out loud. Pan over to Anne and the Plantars. A blue flower wreath is already on Anne's head. Everyone is tearing up. She first goes to Polly)
Goodbye, Polly. You're the little sister I never knew I needed. I know you're gonna grow into an amazing frog and take over the world. Anne says sadly.
(Polly sniffs and chuckles) Without you as my moral compass, I definitely will! (hugs Anne)
(Anne turns to Hop Pop) Goodbye, HP. Thanks for taking me in. I'm so lucky to call myself a Plantar.
I'm the lucky one, Anne. And I'm so blessed to have a granddaughter like you. (fighting back tears) If you ever need a home cooked meal, or your old room back, just...(sniffs) stop by.
Like an old wise frog once told me, family always finds each other. (Anne and Hop Pop hug. A few quiet sobs are then heard. Anne gasps to see Sprig openly crying, twisting his hat in his hands in a futile attempt to keep it together. Anne gives him a hug.)
(Sprig in tears) Goodbye, Anne. I'll.. I'll never forget you.
(crying) And I'll never forget you either, Sprig. Which means that we'll never be apart. Not really. (Sprig begins to cry harder) Nothing will ever change how much you mean to me. Not time, or space, or being worlds apart.
(Sprig rubs away some of his tears) Spranne against the world?
Spranne against the world. Anne replies and Sprig do their high five one last time.
(Anne hands Sprig her cell phone) I want you to have this. Maybe it'll help you on your future adventures.
(Anne and the Plantars, including Bessie and Frobo, share a tearful group hug as they, Sasha Grime, and Marcy, Olivia Yunan do the same. A few moments later, Valeriana approaches Anne with the music box and nods. They know that it's time to leave as Anne, Sasha, and Marcy all line up behind the old newt. Valeriana inserts the gem shards into the box and activates it, opening a portal back to Earth. Anne, Sasha and Marcy sadly step up in front of their way home, but before they do, they turn back to their friends from all over Amphibia. Holding hands, Anne, Sasha, and Marcy take a bow as the crowd cheers loudly, many of which through tears. Once done, Sasha and Marcy step through the portal. Before Anne joins them she is stopped by Sprig, giving her one last hug. Anne returns the hug and with a sad expression, she lets go of Sprig and steps through the portal. As soon as Anne steps through, the portal shimmers brightly and then collapses, leaving behind a brown leaf from Anne's hair. Suddenly, Valeriana feels the music box shaking and witnesses it turn black and then disintegrate into dust.)
So... what now? Hop Pop asks.
Now we build a better world. Olivia replies.
Together! Grime adds.
Well that's the end of "The Hardest Thing" AU. What do you think of my AU?! I'm sorry if you think it's not as good as the actual version. I just really wanted to do my own AU story on this. Especially since I'm a huge Marcy Wu kinnie. I even used a few deleted moments from the original version such as Marcy's Synergy Crossbow and the moment when she briefly looked down at Amphibia after King Andrias's Frogbots begian assisting them for my AU because I think those would've been nice to see. I am and will be forever thankful for Matt Braly and his crew for making such a wonderful show in Amphibia, and I hope this show and all of it's amazing characters will be watched, loved, and remembered for years to come.
