PRETTY LITTLE TEETH

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISC LAIMER

Captain America/Avengers/Vampire Diaries crossover. I've only seen seasons 1-6 of Vampire Diaries and seasons 1-2 of the Originals in their entirety, though to be fair, I'm going to be playing fast and loose with all the canons involved including their personalities so if anything doesn't look right, that's me just taking license. Vampire Diaries/Originals belongs to L. J. Smith while Captain America/Avenger characters belongs to Stan Lee, Marvel, and its creators. I only own the plot. The first chap is just snippets of the relationship which will be expanded on later in the fic. Not sure how graphic I'll get for things.

PROLOGUE

THE OLD WORLD

Niklaus stared into the water, his eyes flickering. The names had appeared again. Katerina and Brock, the names intertwining. Who are they? he wondered. There was no one in the village who had these names, not even amongst the wolves. Did that mean his soulmates weren't here? And if so, where could they be? It just didn't make any sense. I hate this. I hate the not knowing, he thought. It was just so maddening.

"Niklaus?" Hearing his sister's voice, the young man turned, a soft smile on his lips.

"Rebekah," he said softly.

"What are you doing out here?" Rebekah wondered.

"Thinking," Niklaus replied. "The names appeared again," he answered.

"Your soulmates?" she checked.

"Yes," he answered. "The names were intertwined," he continued.

"So you'll probably meet them together," his sister surmised. I think it's quite interesting that Nike apparently has more than one soulmate, she mused. Most only had one, which meant that Nik had to be pretty special to have two.

"Yes, but when?" he groaned. "How long must I wait before I meet the people I'm meant for?" he wondered and the younger girl could only give a helpless shrug. She didn't really understand the soulmate mark. She just knew that sometimes the name of a person's soulmate would appear on their dominate arm and if they accepted one another, the names would turn an ornate gold. However, Nik was a puzzlement in that he had two. Who they were, she had no idea as he had never shared the names with her, but she knew it bothered him, especially when he saw other couples in town. He then sighed. This is maddening, I want my soulmates, he thought to himself. Was that really so wrong? He just wished that he knew what to do.

Katerina ran through the woods, choking back the sobs that threatened to burst out. She was doomed. The soulmate mark was a lie. Her soulmate was a monstrous beast who wanted to kill her so that he could be all powerful. I was always taught that soulmates were drawn to each other and were protective of one another, she thought. Had she been lied to? Or were the stories wrong? They had to be wrong…why else would her soulmate want to kill her? What was she going to do? And what if her other soulmate was the exact same way? Not sure I can bear this horror again, she mourned.

Niklaus growled in frustration. I really made a mess of things! he thought to himself. Katerina was afraid of him! He didn't want her to be afraid of him! Not going to kill her just to unleash my werewolf side. I'll find another way, he determined. After all, it wouldn't do to kill his own soulmate. It was strange…he had never thought the rumors of the irrational protection of a soulmate would extend to the doppelganger. Hell, he hadn't even thought that she would be one of his soulmates. But she was, and he was determined to make things right.

BROCK: 17 YEARS OLD

Brock sighed as his fists hit the bag furiously. How come she doesn't want me? he wondered. Kat was one of his soulmates and yet she had just taken off on him. It didn't make any sense. Had he done something wrong? Offended her in some way? He wished he knew. Going crazy without her, he moped. How did he make whatever he had done wrong right? How was he supposed to get her back? Was it even worth it to try?

BROCK: 17 YEARS OLD

Katherine's eyes flickered as she drove away. I found him but I can't stay with him. Klaus is still thirsting for power and would kill him, she fretted. And the last thing she would ever do was put one of her soulmates in danger. She had to protect Brock…no matter what. If that meant hurting her other soulmate, so be it.

BROCK: 25 YEARS OLD

Klaus let out an unneeded breath as he drove out of New York. Hate that I hurt him, but it's unavoidable, he thought to himself. He had finally found his second soulmate, but he wasn't good for him. He would only bring the man down. It was all better this way. And perhaps, one day, Brock would find it in his heart to forgive him.

BROCK: 25 YEARS OLD

Brock downed his Bourbon, grimacing as the liquor burned his throat. Fuck the soul marks! Who needs 'em? Either of 'em? he silently raged. He could get by just fine on his own!

"Hey, man, take it easy," the guy beside him advised.

"Shut up," Brock muttered.

"What's eating you?" the guy asked.

"My soulmate doesn't want me," came the answer.

"Damn. That sucks, man. I'm sorry," the guy said. At this, Brock just gave a shrug and continued drinking. He couldn't really blame the guy for not wanting him when nobody else did.

"Brock Rumlow?" a voice asked.

"Who wants to know?" Brock wondered, turning to see an African-American man with a patch over his eye.

"My name's Nick Fury. I have a proposition for you," was the response. Brock quirked a brow at the man. While he wasn't quite sure of what was going on, he was pretty sure that it would be interesting as hell.
