Hi guys, I'm going to leave this here, please leave me a review let me know how its going or if I should scrap it. Thank you all again for reading xx
Always 8.
When she said she wanted a bed she meant so she could sleep, this wasn't sleeping! Will was prodding at her head, checking her reflexes, waking her up. The CT scan showed Booth had fractured her eye socket. Jay and Will had been waking Hayley every hour, until she was discharged the following day, Natalie was in on it too except she was gentler than the boys about it.
"If either of you wake me again before its time to leave there will be trouble!" Hayley told Will at 5am.
"Hayley if you can stay awake for another hour, I will cook waffles for breakfast!" Jay chuckled as Hayley lay on her side and pulled the blanket up over her head.
"Do you promise. I'm going to need coffee to get through this." Their eyes met and they just held each other's gaze. "Jay, I am going to find somewhere to go when we are done here, I just think." before Jay could stop her the door opened and Will walked in with Kim.
"Hey Jay, can I talk to you a minuet?" Will asked.
"Sure, I'll be back!"
"Kim, I need you to help me. I need somewhere to stay for a few days!"
"No! You need to stop running Hayley! Jay is so in love with you! Why are you leaving, what reason have you got to leave?" Kim looked into Hayley's eyes, grabbed her hands, and sat on the bed in front of her. "What's going on in that mind of yours?"
"I'm not good for him or the kids. What if Booth sends someone to hurt me again or Booth gets out? What then? They deserve better than me Kim. If you can't help, then that's ok! I can go somewhere else, its ok!"
"Hayley, stop, Just stop! You have just been through something super crazy; I understand you are shook to the core and that you want to do what's best for them all. The thing is Hayley that's you! You have pulled Jay from a super dark place that we never thought he would come back from. You did that, when he looks at you, when he talks about you, when he thinks about you, he has this look on his face, this aura around him that just lights up. Hayley, please think about this before you make a final decision." The air in the room was thick.
"Please Kim? This has been so scary, I love him so much I just don't want anything to happen to him and If I admit that I love him, something will happen and I'll lose him, it always happens. You know the crappy life I've had Kim; I get close to people and they either hurt me or something happens to them, or they leave me, I can't do this." She wipes her tears as they fall from her eyes.
"Hayley, you need to calm down, take a deep breath in and slowly take it out." Will comes in the room and starts to turn machines off, the alarms alerting them to her increased heart rate.
"You need to calm down Hayley!" Will tries as he puts a mask on her face. "That's it!"
"What's going on Hayley, are you ok? Kim?" Jay looked between the two friends.
"Nothing we were talking, and she started to panic!" Kim told him "Jay can you go get the kids from the sitter she has to go to school? I'll bring Hayley home when she is discharged."
Hayley had calmed down but was still tearful, Jay smiled at her and waved as he walked out the door, she could tell he wasn't buying Kim's explanation which was true, in a way. It wouldn't help him to know Hayley was having doubts about their relationship before it even gets going.
"Thank you, Kim! Are you staying because I am really going to need a shoulder to lean on?" Kim moved and sat next to Hayley her head falling on to her friends' head as she settled in to sleep. She saw Jay was calling her.
"Is she ok?" Jay asked Kim.
"She's worried about coming back with you, she thinks she is bad news and that you won't trust her anymore, that you won't love her anymore!"
"Kim, I will always love her! From the moment I laid my eyes on her I knew there was something, I'm not sure I can be without her in my life. If she needs a break or needs us to move slower or whatever she needs, I'm all in. I love her so much even more than I thought I could love anyone. More than I loved Amy. It scares me, but I really need her in my life." He puts the phone down leaving a stunned Kim looking at her phone.
An hour later Hayley was in Kim's car heading to Jay's house, Jay had collected the kids and had started breakfast, he text Kim and telling her he would meet them back at the house. Hayley wanted a bath and her bed. She had changed into some comfy sweats that Jay had given her at the hospital.
"Hank has given Jay the rest week off told him to stay and look after you and the kids. You and Jay need to talk things through, ok? Promise me you will talk to him and listen to him."
"Kim, I heard what he said this morning, it scares me, but I feel the same way. Its mad right that we have only just met but we both feel the connection. That single moment in your apartment there was a spark an energy that happened when we were in the same room. Its crazy right? I think we need to take things slow though so maybe we will need the best Aunty in the world to watch them while we go on a few dates?" smiling a Kim Hayley used her saddest puppy dog eyes.
"You don't even have to ask! Come on let's go in. Jay started breakfast"
The woman entered the house to find the kids all sitting at the table eating and Jay making coffee.
Hayley walked up to Jay and hugged him thanking him for breakfast then sat down. It was awkward to say the least. They ate and talked about everyday things, Jay and the twins were excited to go back to the Zoo and Hayley included Mikayla in the conversation. Kim agreeing to let her go with them the following day.
"Hayley, are you ok?" Jay asked. Placing his hand on her shoulder.
"No, I need a bath and a nap. I'm sorry guys." Hayley apologised.
"Go we got this! I'll bring you some meds up and a drink. Shout us if you need us, ok?" Jay asked.
"Thank you!" Hayley placed her hand on Jay's shoulder and their eyes met and spoke a hundred words. Smiling Hayley ruffled the twin's hairs and climbed the stairs to the bathroom. Walking into the bathroom she put the plug in the bath turning on the taps and pouring in some bubbles. She grabs some towels and undresses then climbs in the tub, the bathroom is elegant with a double ended bath Victorian style tabs and claw feet on the bottom. The décor is pale greens and blues with a beach theme. She's been in there for an hour when Jay gently knocks on the door startling her awake. The water had cooled down, and the bubbles had gone, the house was quiet.
"It's open, Hey, where are the kids?" she asks,
"They are asleep in bed, I thought we could talk whilst they nap but if you are sleepy that's ok."
"No, we need to talk but do you mind if we talk in bed?" she blushed and looked down at the water she was in.
"Ok get dried and come into me when you are ready?" he smiled as he passed her a towel. Gently closed the door behind him. He went into his room and changed into his joggers, climbing into bed, seconds later Hayley followed him and climbed in. She lay down facing Jay smiling as he copied her and mirrored her position.
"So, I heard what you said to Kim earlier, she was sat next to me, she also thought I was asleep. I just want to let you know I feel the same way. I really can't believe you feel the same way. I just need us to be on the same page, I need you to know I'm all in, but I want us to go slow and get to know each other. I know we basically live together, and it's not like a normal beginning of a relationship, I am so nervous about this, I just don't want to lose you." She blushed as she looked up to Jay, their eyes meet again and they gravitate closer their lips meeting, Jay pulls her closer to him, she threads her arms around his neck and they hold on to each other, kissing like they didn't need air in their lungs, they melt into each other so much it's hard to say where one begins and one ends, Hayley shifts herself in his arms and a moan erupts from her throat. Jay pulls back first, he starts to speak but then stops, unsure if it's too soon, but then the filter in his brain shuts off, the words rushing out of his mouth before he can stop them.
"Hayley, I love you! I'm not sure if I can do slow, but I will try I promise you I will do my best to go at your pace." He looks into her ocean blue eyes and feels the need to lift the air around them. "When you say slow, how slow do you mean?" he cheekily asked
"Super slow like not even second base slow!" she laughed as they wrestled on the bed, Jay landing on top of her as they kissed and got comfy in the duvet, "Maybe not too slow" she winks at jay as they talk for a while about nothing and everything, then Hayley falls asleep. Jay sits and watches her sleep, not in a creepy way, just in a 'if I blink, she'll disappear' way. He was super wrong though, she wasn't going anywhere not in this lifetime, she was home! Jay the kids her friends she had never felt so much love in her life.
They both heard the kids before they appeared at the side of the bed, Lydia trying her best to climb up the bed frame. Hayley helping her and then Jacob on to the bed.
"Careful acob lee-lee pooly, right Daddy?" Lydia asked her dad as Jacob climbed over them to his Dad.
"Aww he's ok he's excited to see daddy after his nap, did you have a good nap sweetie?" Hayley asked as she swept Lydia's fringe from in her eyes. Lydia nodded rendering her actions useless. The four of them sat in the bed and when Jay couldn't take it anymore, he got out and went to make a coffee. The kids and Hayley following him all giggling playfully.
Hayley phone was on the counter, and she checks it to see if they missed a call whilst they were upstairs. She sits on the couch and see a text from Kim.
"Jay, Kim say's don't cook anything Platt is on her way over with Cottage pie! She is amazing, I love her cottage pie! Have you tried her Sausage casserole? It's to die for!"
"I have had the pleasure of her cooking and I can tell you it's all good. She's worried about you leaving again you know. I haven't seen her so happy than when she talks about you or is around you or the twins, she loves them too." He smiles as he watches the kids playing with the blocks they have emptied onto the floor. A knock at the door brings him out of his dream world.
"Hey Sarge, look at this, I love your Cottage pie thank you. Come in I just made coffee."
"How's Hayley doing? Is she sleeping I don't want to wake her!" walking into the kitchen the sun had come through the clouds through the window and on to Hayley, the air came out of Jays lungs in a whoosh, Trudy turning to look at him and them follow his gaze, the two of them were caught in a moment! Trudy was almost embarrassed about witnessing the interaction between them. Jacob pulled Hayley out of the trace she had been in.
"When's the wedding!" Trudy asked under her breath Hayley blushed and Jay ducked his head into the fridge.
"How are you? Hayley what were you thinking? You and Kim are in big trouble with me, both of you are like daughters too me, together your just double trouble! I can't believe the fates brought you together in college then again now just to turn my hair even greyer." Sitting down as close to Hayley as she could, Trudy pulled her in to a bone crushing hug "I only just got you back, I can't lose you again! Please don't do anything like that again?" she begged.
"I'm sorry, I really am. I'm not going anywhere I'm home." As before when Hayley and Trudy were talking the twins joined them on the couch. They had come full circle. When Trudy saved Hayley she cleared the path in Hayley's future, she new that there would be bumps in the road, but she would always be there for her, always have a hand on her back guiding her so she would always be happy and live a full life. When Hayley and Trudy were talking Jay looked over to them the kids and the two adults were his family. He is so blessed and would always be grateful that Trudy was there for them all. He could see the path set out in front of him it looked amazing, he couldn't wait for the rest of his life to start.
