Chapter Four
The four swung into a corner store and bought koinobori. Usually 'Amaya' would sit on the bench. Instead which somehow came suspected, but still a surprise when the boys and herself pushed her along while she had the popsicle in her mouth. The nervousness didn't show but still vibrated in both her bodies. Do I just interact as I do as' Kin'? /That would seem too odd. The park was pretty and simple, wooden benches and green grass. A concrete hopscotch, a swing, and a slide. There was a group of children playing with a ball. The parents nearby, sitting by the rock wall.
The wind picked up. "This is perfect! I call the green fishes!" Goro exclaimed.
Shuichi raised his brow. "Fish-ES?"
Goro ignored him. And being the impulsive turkey he is, already had the package opened. The wind stole a pair, which danced about over the ground. Then decided to just take the whole package with the rest of the carps still inside. "I've caught one." 'Amaya' called over her shoulder. Shuichi and 'Kin' bunked heads in attempt to pounce on the package. The other kites were slipping out.
While chasing the colorful streamers, two little boys and a girl suddenly joined giggling. Goro cupped his hands like a speaker. "10 points for each!" Well, that riled them up. They can have them.../ I love children!
"I've got 2! I've got 2!" The boy had blond hair and creamy coffee-colored wings. The smile on his face was huge.
"That isn't fair! You're a bird!" She clearly was his sister; she didn't have wings and her cheeks were pinker. But her blond hair, purple eyes a little softer, and other features, very alike. The two wearing matching grey and white striped hoodies.
(Isamu's quirk: Has wings like a duck's. Wings don't get wet under water or in rain.)
"And you're a sore loser!"
Shuichi cleared his throat and pushed his glasses up. "I think this cool kid won actually." He pointed to the other boy. He was a little taller than the other kids. Deep blue hair. A white bandana with poppies around his neck. He shyly held up four.
Kin kneeled down. "What's your name? I'm Kin. This is my sister Amaya."
"That's Jun. He doesn't like to talk. I'm Anzu! My dumb brother is Isamu!" She stuck her tongue out at him. "...Can I touch your tail?"
"Well I'm Goro! Do you three want to fly kites with us?" He fanned his tail out. The three children pet it gently in awe.
"I'll bet they're better than us. Hey there I'm Shuichi."
"I want the green one please!" Anzu jumped up and down.
"Not the pink one?"
She stuck her tongue out at Shuichi. "Green's my favorite color, Isamu wants pink!"
The two were already grabbing the kites excitedly. Goro and Shuichi helped them tie on the string. "What about you Jun, do you want an orange or a blue fish." 'Kin' was grinning holding the fish in front of the shy boy. He looked between her and 'Amaya'.
"W-why do you wear a ma-thk? Are you allergic to the du-th-th-t."
The world froze for a moment of sheer amazement and glee. THE KID HAS A LISP!
"Do you have a lisp?"
"A l-th- l-th-th-p!" He nodded. But suddenly his faced turned red and sour. "I'm not going to th-y th-ome th-upid th-en-tan-th with a ton ofth e-th-th-e-th in it!"
"Of course not. What fish do you what kid?" 'Amaya' answered him blandly as 'Kin' had to turn away to choke down the excited giggling.
"The blue one. Oh look! I can make it bigger!" The fish doubled in size. What a cool quirk. /He said that sentence beautifully. She nodded, pulling her mask down to give him a smile.
(Jun's quirk: Enlarging inanimate objects. Cannot shrink them back down though.)
After kites they played Hopscotch, and Chain Tag...
"Do you know how to play Sardines ? I want to play that next!" Isamu exclaimed.
The boys and her selves were exhausted. "How about the slide?"
"Or we push you on the swing?"
"Let's roll the ball back and forth."
Children have an endless amount of energy./ This raising kids is for the birds... /That's what Grandpa would say. A shadow cast over them where they lay in the grass. Everyone looked up. "Yes!" 'Kin' and the boys hollered.
Two men had walked up. "I believe it's time to go home now Isamu, Anzu." The two whined. Jun on the other hand wasted no time to run to his father. 'Amaya' stood up. Followed by Goro. 'Kin' and Shuichi didn't have the remaining strength and remained sprawled on the ground. Anzu and Isamu tugged Jun away and played with the ball while their fathers faced the 'big kids'. "Thank you for playing with those two. They can be quite the handful." He smiled.
"I've never seen Jun smile so much. Do you baby sit?"
"Jun isn't as hyper. I wouldn't mind." 'Amaya' stated with a nod.
Goro smiled brightly. "I have quite a few siblings! I could do this all day!"
"Ow! You hit me in the nose Anzu!"
"Well maybe you deserved it!" She retorted.
Everyone sighed. "Perhaps we should check out the commotion?" The father looked at 'Amaya' and Goro with hopeful eyes. He wanted them to solve it, he was tired. The two of them nodded, which the man returned before he sat down.
They and Jun's father walked over to settle the fight. "Where's Jun?"
Amaya spotted him. Oh dear God... "Don't run into the road!" He went after the ball that rolled off the curb. An oncoming trucker was on the phone. She froze for a moment, completely numb. A shudder down her spine and then she couldn't feel or think or see anything. This same shudder jolted 'Kin' to her feet. Feeling the same numbness as she rushed past. Though unable to remember the reason for it. She bumped shoulders with herself fumbling for direction. 'Amaya' stumbled forward, awareness sinking back in. The first thing to rush through her head was the boy. 'Kin' halted for half a second before bursting off at full speed.
In two bodies she sees life from two perspectives. Kin was closer. So, Kin ran. Amaya was faster. But she saw that her other figure was closer and believed that would make better time. Sometimes two sets of eyes a curse, it messes up your reasoning.
I need to get to him!/ Idiot! I'm not fast enough! Stop waiting around! 'Amaya' threw herself into a sprint after 'Kin'. If Amaya had run from the beginning, she'd have made it there faster. I waited too long!/ I won't make it either way! Anger, fear and guilt surged through her veins like a fire. I thought you were going to pay more attention!/ Can't even keep track of a child! Her throat was being singed, tingling rage and horror pulsed in her hands and forearms. The gloves were constricting. Like they were getting tighter with each wave that ran through her cells. Reality spoke truthfully as it always does. Despite how some might deny or plead against it. What she could see with two visuals kept her from running faster. She knew she wouldn't make it.
Watching through two pairs of eyes. She trembled as she saw Jun drop the ball and stumble back in fear. She watched herself shaking violently and turn away. Time basically shut down. What happens now? Her quirk was strangling her, until it broke out. The gloves restraining her power disintegrated. Except for the remaining fabric rings under her elbows. The material absorbed the toxic shock, while the shear force of it kicked the air in motion. 'Kin' was swept up from beside the road and hurled forward.
Now I'm going to die!/ I can reach him!
"Everything's going to be okay honey." Her body faintly glowing. What else was she supposed to say?
"I'm not scared. I believe you." He gripped tighter and wiggled so he could look up at her and smile brightly. So pure. She held him tighter, then she realized, they had already landed in the grass on the other side of the street.
'Amaya' held up the sobbing man, "He's alright. Sir, Jun and 'Kin' are just fine." Goro and Shuichi tried to calm the kids.
"You're sure Amaya!?" Goro shrieked in disbelief.
Shuichi cooed to the little ones. "You hear that, they're ok. Come here Anzu."
The other man just stood shocked. Isamu tugging at his shirt. The truck rumbled on, and 'Kin' had Jun up on her hip tickling him as they crossed the street.
"My son!" Everyone ran to curb. Then shooed the children away from the curb. Frantic shouting and sobbing.
"That was incredible!" Somebody had pulled off the road and ran up to them. The children shrieked with excitement, the danger before completely forgotten. While the four, and the fathers just stood silent. Everything was just happening to fast. That's the hero Gun head. "I was driving home. I saw the whole thing!"
