First things first.
I DON'T OWN ENCANTO!
ALL RIGHTS BELONGS TO DISNEY AND THE RESPECTIVE ONWERS OF THE MOVIE!

Watched the movie two times by now and this wouldn't let me go anymore.
That's why I wrote it down.

Warning: It's pretty sad. I am sorry for that.
I feel like shit myself, since my mom is gone.

I thought writing would help, but it doesn't :(.

Anyway, I hope you like it.

I really like Bruno in this movie (and Camilo and Mirabel too).

I am so sorry for grammer/spelling mistakes; english isn't my first language.
I had to translate this from german into english and I hope it isn't too bad.

And I would appreciate feedback in the form of a comment very much.
Not only is feedback very motivating, but it also shows me that my story gets read and is not ignored.
If I get the feeling my story gets ignored, I won't update it, for I see no reason to do so then.
So please don't be shy and share your thoughts with me. I won't bite you.

Hidden in the walls of Casita

It was a wonderful day.

The sun shone as bright as it hadn't shone in a long time.

Not only did it give the village its wonderful warmth, it also made its residents a lot more cheerful.

In the house of the Madrigals, too, there was an exuberant and happy atmosphere on this beautiful day.

The family was gathering in the large dining room of their Casita to dine and have fun together.

Everything was already ready on the big table and the individual family members were already going to the table, on which a real feast was waiting for all of them.

There was joking and laughter, as everyone took some of the delicious food.

The atmosphere in the family couldn't have been more perfect.

Each one of them seemed more cheerful and exuberant than they had been in a long time.

All but one…

Only sparingly did the sunlight penetrate Bruno's dark hiding place.

He had also sat down at his small wooden table and was now looking through the small wood gap, directly into the dining room next to his hiding place and when he saw his family so exuberant and happy, he felt a sting in his heart.

Of course he was happy for them and that they were all so happy today, but at the same time he felt a strong pain in his chest. It was as if an ice-cold hand reached for his heart and squeezed it tightly.

Oh, how he would have loved to sit there too.

There, between his siblings and nephews and nieces.

And his mother...

But he knew this was impossible.

They would never accept him back into their ranks.

He was Bruno and none of them talk about him.

He was the black sheep of the Madrigal family and why?

Because he, of all people, had been given the gift of seeing the future.

Just thinking about his past made him feel the hand tighten around his heart, almost squeezing his breath away.

He had only caused disaster with his prophecies.

Even the villagers had begun to fear him, and to this day they still winced when anyone dared to mention his name in their presence.

A soft sigh crept out of his throat and again his green eyes focused on his family.

When they spotted Mirabel, he winced slightly.

After all, it was her prophecy that drove him into exile. He was scared for her, because he still couldn't make sense of this strange prophecy that he had received from her and which he had destroyed a little later. No one was ever allowed to find this prophecy. Nor would they, for the remains of it were hidden in the depths of his tower and none of them dared to go there.

Not even Luisa; the strongest and bravest of them...

A loud laugh snapped Bruno out of his dark daydreams and as he turned his eyes back to what was happening in the dining room, a tiny little smile curled his lips, as he watched Camilo and Mirabel, having a brief playful tussle, before Alma stepped in and again provided for silence.

Well…more or less, because there was never really anything like silence in the Madrigal house.

He rolled his eyes playfully when he saw how Camilo was apparently already planning the next prank and gave Mirabel a challenging look, which she was only too happy to return.

They seemed so happy and carefree, as was the rest of the family and he felt his smile slowly fade from his lips.

In that moment, he realized once again that none of his family members seemed to miss him.

It was as if he had been erased from their mind the day he had chosen to hide within the walls of casita from his own family, believing they loathed him either way, after all he had done.

He saw it every day when his family gathered for dinner and everyone seemed so carefree and happy.

And none of them seemed to notice the empty seat at their table.

Not even his own mother...

And today he would again be sitting here all alone in his dark hiding place and no one would care, for no one knew that he was still around. And he was certain, that no one would care, even if they knew he was still around.

The only family he had now left was swarming around him and some were already making their way through the walls to steal some of the food for him that was so plentifully spread out on the dining table and the kitchen counter, so that he would not go hungry.

Rats.

The only family he had now.

They did not judge him, were not scared of him, and would never mock him.

No.

They were always there for him and kept him company.

But they couldn't replace his family.

Nothing and nobody in this world could do that.

Oh, how he longed for his family.

And how he wished, day after day, to dine with them again and not to sit here in this dark hiding place where the sun's light came to him only as a thin thread through the small crack in the wood of the wall.

Another soft sigh escaped his lips and he averted his eyes from the happy people on the other side of the wooden wall and instead focused them on the rat, which was just climbing onto his small table and staring at him expectantly.

A sad smile played on his lips as he reached his hand out and gently stroked the rat with one finger and it began to squeak softly and happily, before pressing against his hand a little more.

His little smile widened briefly, but only because the rat's fur tickled his palm.

At least one who didn't immediately flee from him...

Would his life ever change?

He didn't know.

He could try to see it in one of his prophecies, but he didn't, for he was afraid of the outcome of what he would see. So he let it go, preferring to continue living his life as he had been doing it for years.

Hidden from the eyes of his own family and as a dark shadow, within the walls of Casita...
